Yes, kitsune Sasuke looked cute in my head and I thought, why not try writing something like that. Plus, I just finished rewatching "Kamisama Kiss" and I wanted to write a story about a demon fox and a shaman.

The fox craned his head to a side, his features becoming shaper. His predatory eyes seizing me up. I thought for a second he was contemplating eating me. But he didn't move or attack as I expected him.
And then, I ran. Without looking back, I ran. Panting fast, I moved down the stairs, rounding a corner and coming into another dark hallway. I needed to find an exit and fast. My eyes scanned the hallway, looking for a door, an escape route, a hole. Anything.
None.
Calm down. Calm down. I told myself. I couldn't let my emotions run amuck here. Not now.
I breathed in and out slowly, calming when nerves down and that's when I felt it. A finger trailed down my throat, long nails digging in enough to draw blood. I winced, sucking in a sharp breath. A yokai had found me.
I willed myself to move but my legs couldn't even lift themselves much less carry me. Staring ahead, my eyes focused on the creature in front of me.
It was a skeleton yokai.
"Human," it growled darkly. Of all things, why did I have to run into this one? Some unknown force jerked me forward. I stumbled, my feet brushing lightly against the floor as I felt myself being lifted up. I struggled back on impulse, pressing against hard-rock bones.
"Let go!" I cried.
"You smell lovely, human. I will have my precious time with you." The skeleton snickered, making chills run down my body.
I balled my fists together and whispered a short spell through gritted teeth. I saw a white flash echo in the room like a cracking sound and I felt myself land on the floor just as the skeleton shrieked in pain.
Seconds passed as I took shaky breaths of air, surprised the spell had actually worked. I thought Obaa-san had been bluffing.
"I'll devour you!" It cried.
Using the moment, I ran again. My body automatically took me back up the stairs. I didn't even slow to catch my breath as I ran into the hallway. I ignored the stares of the ghosts who could suddenly see me. My throat hurt from the wound the yokai had given me. My knees and shoulder throbbed. Everything hurt.
I just wanted to go home. My eyes searched widely for another exit as I heard the skeleton climb up the stairs. Spotting a room I'd never seen before, I ran forward.
The entire room was covered in talisman, telling me something more dangerous was here but I no where else to go. I turned, seeing the twisted look of the skeleton yokai before I slammed the door shut.
I pulled a talisman from the wall and placed it on the door handle. The handle rattled heavily as the yokai struggled to to push itself in. I shifted back slowly, my hands on my pendant.
"That talisman won't hold it down for long."
Someone was here.
My eyes widened and I stiffened, hearing the voice of someone else in the room. The voice was so soft, it almost sounded like I had imagined it. But it was also familiar. The figure placed his arm on my shoulder, pulling me close to him and I decided that it was real.
I whipped my head to the left staring into the eyes of the kitsune from earlier. He regarded me with a curious face.
I was already feeling a little bit faint from the loss of blood and throbbing ache. Despite it, I stood still like a rock.
"Hmm," he purred, running his fingers through his dark shoulder- length locks. Then his gaze turned stoic. His eyes flickered to the pendant wrapped around my neck. He looked up at me, eyes widened.
"You," he seethed, his voice as menacing as the look he gave me. "After all these years, you're still alive?"
What was he talking about?
Before I could answer, the door fell over, Then, a sound, a sharp screech, came to my ear in an unexpected burst. bringing up clouds of dust and a heavier scent of blood and death. There was silence as I held my breath.
"Human," the yokai hissed. It rushed forward to attack, but before it could reach me, it was flung back; its body hitting the wall with a strong force. The skeleton hissed again only to stop when he saw the figure beside me. "Sasuke-dono?" It called in surprise. "This human trespassed my space. I have every right to eat her."
Sasuke-dono?
Sasuke let go of me and stepped forward. "Of course."
The skeleton cheered in glee.
"However," his voice turned cold as a dark aura suddenly filled the room. "You met me at a bad mood."
Dark like flames shot out of his hands.
Then, a sound, a sharp screech, came to my ear in an unexpected burst. The skeleton shrieked as the fire consumed it, the sound making my stomach curl. It folded up on itself before collapsing to the ground and blackening to ashes.
The room fell quiet. I shuddered, feeling faint. Sasuke turned to me and muttered something. Before I could react, my body gave out to the amount of stress I felt and I eventually the darkness consume me.
My eyes opened slowly. I squinted at the bright streams of sunlight that filtered into the room through closed blinds.
I tried to move when the familiar throbbing ache ran through it. I groaned, my head pounding as I turned on the bed.
Then it clicked. Room? Bed? When did I?
"You're not her." A voice said from a corner in the room.
I bolted up from the bed like I'd been shocked. Sasuke stared at me passively. I looked down to his hand and saw my pendant. I gasped, clawing at my neck.
"My pendant."
"You're not her," he repeated, ignoring me. "Yet, you have her necklace." He played with it, spinning it around like a yo-yo, looking at me like I'd taken his favorite toy. "Tell me. Who gave you?"
I didn't know what he was talking about or the 'her' he was referring to, but his words made me flinch.
"Ah, and she's suddenly a mute." He sighed. His eyes glinted, almost amusingly, and I realized they weren't crimson like they had been before. Now they were two dark pools.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said in a low voice.
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"I said, I don't know what you're talking about. However that pendant," I pointed to it. "My grandmother gave it to me."
"And what's your grandmother's name?"
I fell silent. What good was it disclosing such details to a demon fox?
My brows came together in a frown as I remembered him destroying the skeleton yokai with a single flame. It reminded me that just like that yokai, he was also one. Perhaps even stronger.
What even surprised me was the fact that I wasn't out of my bed and running out my front door, to get away from him as far as possible. But, I couldn't fool myself. He would catch me before I even dared to move. What I wanted right now was answers."Who are you?" I asked.
I saw his eyes flicker to my small form. "A demon fox, as you can clearly see." He said, his voice teasing. Then it turned serious. "This pendant was what sealed me all those years."
"My pendant?" I questioned, blinking. How was that possible? "But you were released when I recited the words on the talisman."
"You're a shaman, aren't you?"
I twitched. I hated been called that.
"I'm not a shaman."
"The fact that you can say a few spells makes you one." His tone was a matter of facts.
I remembered calling a spell that had struck the skeleton yokai - the way I could easily remove a talisman without being hurt. A puff of air left my lips as I looked out my room window. I felt a bit better now, but the ache was still there. My eyes swiveled to Sasuke. "So, what do you want now?"
"My freedom." He said just as quickly as I'd asked.
"What? Aren't you free already?"
"It seems you don't understand how this necklace works." Sasuke said. He stood from where he sat and moved towards me, almost too slowly. I saw that his eyes weren't the only thing that had changed. His tails were no longer there; making him look more human. He stopped at the edge of my bed and dangled the necklace in front of me. "This pendant controls me like a string attached to a marionette. Just like a Noose, if you will."
I nodded, not getting his point.
He continued. "I can only be free if the owner of the necklace dies."
My eyes widened. "Are you saying I have to die?"
He leaned forward, deep crimson eyes boring into mine. "Yes."
