I do not own Halloween or any of its characters, they are the property of John Carpenter. The two main characters of this story belong to Richard Curtis, note in the original novel they were both fifteen, in this story they're both seventeen. Ireland 500 BC
Deirdre was the third and youngest daughter of the Druid King Gwynwyll. Her hair was sandy brown with amber highlights, her eyes sea green, her complexion cream, and wild rose. She was already taller than her older sisters, and her early development had been the cause of much concern in the tribal community. The other virgins tittered with envy, married women voiced disapproval and counselled her mother to marry her off before the girl yielded to her budding impulses. The young warriors eyed her yearningly, and the old warriors thought forbidden thoughts and reflected on their faded memories.
Deirdre's mother, Druid Queen Bridget then informed Gwynwyll of there request of some of the women in their tribe. It was true, now that Deirdre was seventeen years old, it was high time that she took a husband. Of all the warriors in the tribe, there was one whom he believed was more than worthy for Deirdre. His name was Cullain, son of Brian, he was a strong, young warrior whom he believed would make a perfect husband for Deirdre. However what Gwynwyll and Bridget did not know was that Deirdre had given her love to someone else, someone who seemed rather different to the others.
His name was Enda. He was seventeen, and he loved Deirdre with a secret passion that tortured him and at night caused him to cry out in his sleep. When it became rumoured that Deirdre's father, the king, was preparing to offer her hand in marriage. Enda consulted his kinsmen and asked if they thought his suit would be looked upon his favour. He suspected what the answer would be, but his longing overcame his embarrassment.
"Ho Deirdre marry you" his father cackled, "with your shrivelled arm and twitching mouth?".
This answer was because, poor Enda had presented himself at the wrong end when his mother birthed him. If that wasn't bad enough, the midwives had also made a botch of his birth.
"She would as soon marry my goat" howled his uncle.
"Or Bulech" his brother added, pointing to the runty dog worrying a greasy bone in the corner of the hut.
"Besides" said his father, "I'm told that she's but betrothed to Cullain".
"Now there's a lad worthy of that wench's pretty hole" his uncle burst out as he raised his wineskin to his fat lips.
The three men continued to discuss Deirdre's charms as poor Enda, unable to take any more of their treatment retreated from the hut into the cold night.
What Enda didn't know was that Deirdre was feeling the same thing that he was. Whilst she was having dinner with her family, her father informed her of the betrothal, whilst her mother and two older sisters were thrilled, Deirdre wasn't, not in the slightest.
"But why would you be upset at this Deirdre?" asked Gwynwyll in shock at Deirdre's reaction, "Cullain will make an excellent husband for you".
"Because I don't love him father, I love someone else," said Deirdre.
This news was a shock to Gwynwyll and Bridget. Normally a girl like Deirdre would be ecstatic at the thought of marrying Cullain, but to hear his daughter mention that she loved another was different, Gwynwyll decided to find out who this young man was.
"May I ask you, who is this young man Deirdre?" Gwynwyll asked his daughter.
"Me and Aisling know who he is" said Deirdre's older sister Tara.
Deirdre looked at her two older sisters in annoyance. It was well known among the tribe that her sisters were avid gossipers, for whom it was impossible to keep things hidden. Gwynwyll looked towards his two older daughters with interest.
"Well then Tara" asked Gwynwyll, "tell me who he is?".
"Its Enda, son of Connor" said Tara with a smirk.
"That monster?" asked Bridget, shocked that her daughter could love such a person.
"Enda is not a monster mother" said Deirdre angrily, "he is a kind and gentle soul, but more importantly I love him".
"How long have you loved this boy, Deirdre?" asked Gwynwyll asked his daughter sternly.
Deirdre then decided to tell her family about her and Enda. She revealed that over 10 years ago, she was taking a walk in the woods near the village when she heard someone crying. She came to the edge of a river where she saw a little boy crying. When she approached him, he looked up at her, she then saw that he had a twitching mouth and that his left arm was shriveled.
However instead of running away from him, she asked him what his name was. The boy then introduced himself as Enda, he explained that he was crying because of the way that people in the tribe treated him, including his own family. Deirdre was saddened to learn that poor Enda had no friends either, she then offered to his friend. Enda was cautious about the whole idea as he believed that Deirdre would trick him like he had been before, Deirdre then gave him her word that she would never do that, and Enda believed her.
From that day forward both she and Enda became the best of friends, although they both met in secret as they both knew that the tribe, especially Deirdre's parents wouldn't approve of their friendship. However, as time passed their friendship slowly turned into something much, much more, then on their fifteenth birthdays they realized that they were both in love with each other.
"And that is why I love him and want to marry him and not Cullain" said Deirdre firmly.
"No" said Gwynwyll firmly, "no Deirdre that is not happening".
"What" asked Deirdre shocked, "why not?".
"Because daughter his family are poor farmers, and he is deformed" said Gwynwyll.
"Its not his fault" said Deirdre, "those idiots who call themselves midwives botched his birth".
"It doesn't matter Deirdre" said Gwynwyll, "I have decided that you are going to marry Cullain, besides he will be a way better husband then that beast".
Deirdre just couldn't believe that her father was against her decision. Why couldn't he see that she loved Enda only and not Cullain. Bridget seeing her daughter's distress, tried to calm down the situation between her daughter and her father.
"Deirdre, I know that you are upset," said Bridget.
"But mother why can't I marry Enda, I love him," said Deirdre.
"No, no you don't" said Bridget gently, "you're just confused, but once you marry Cullain, that love you have for that boy will vanish as if it never was".
Deirdre didn't want to hear it anymore. She grabbed her clock and stormed out of her family's hut, leaving behind her father, mother and two older sisters.
"That girl will be the death of me" said Gwynwyll in annoyance.
"Don't worry dear she'll come around" said Bridget, hoping that her words will make her husband feel a little better.
However, that wasn't going to happen, as at the same time Enda had determined on a plan. If he could get directly to Deirdre, he would convince her that though he was physically ill-favoured, he was in every other respect a fitting candidate for her hand. However, that was easier said than done, however, because virgins were closely watched by their mothers and their truculent warrior brothers.
Nevertheless, one day Enda seized an opportunity when Deirdre went to fetch water from the stream at the foot of the hill. He followed her furtively, darting from tree to tree until he found her stooped over the stream, singing softly to herself as the water filled her clay pitchers.
"Deirdre" he called timidly.
Deirdre turned when she heard the voice, when she was who it was, she was revealed.
"Enda" said Deirdre happily.
Without saying another word Enda and Deirdre both rushed into each other's arms. Without saying another word, the two teenagers crashed their lips against each other and kissed, deeply and passionately. Deirdre gave a light groan as Enda's tongue slid into her mouth and intertwined with hers, they both soon broke away as they starred into each other's eyes, pure love in them.
"I love you so much Deirdre," said Enda.
"And I love you too Enda," said Deirdre, "and I know what you are going to ask me".
"You do?" Enda asked happily.
His happiness soon melted away when he saw that Deirdre looked sad, he wondered what the problem was.
"Deirdre what's the matter?" asked Enda.
"I asked my father if I could marry you instead of Cullain," said Deirdre.
"And what did he say?" asked Enda hoping that the answer wasn't what he was dreading.
"He refused" said Deirdre sadly.
This wasn't what Enda had wanted to hear. A few days ago, he had personally approached King Gwynwyll and asked for Deirdre's hand in marriage, however the king cruelly laughed and mocked Enda and clearly stated that Enda had no chance for marrying his daughter.
"Why can't he accept that we love each other?" asked Enda.
"Because according to my mother I don't actually love you," said Deirdre.
"She did?" asked Enda shocked at the queen's words.
"She even said that once I marry Cullain, all of my love for you will disappear as if it had ever existed" Deirdre finished.
This wasn't what Enda had wanted to hear. Why couldn't the King and Queen accept that their daughter loved a disfigured but ultimately normal young man, it just wasn't fair to either him or Deirdre. Enda then sat down on a log and buried his face in his hands, Deirdre then sat down beside him.
"I really don't want this either Enda, but what choice do we have?" said Deirdre.
"We could runaway together, start a family somewhere else?" asked Enda.
Deirdre gave a small smile at her beloved's suggestion, however it quickly faded. She knew full well that if they ran away, then Gwynwyll would just simply head to the High King and ask for his help in locating them. She knew if they were caught then Enda would be executed, and she'll be forced to marry Cullain.
"I'm afraid that won't work Enda" she told him sadly.
"Then what do we do then?" Enda asked.
Deirdre tried to think of something, but nothing came to her. But just as she was about to reply, an idea flew into her head.
"I know of something" said Deirdre as she took Enda's hand and they both stood up.
"What is it, Deirdre?" asked Enda.
"Close your eyes and you'll see" smiled Deirdre.
Enda smiled at his beloved and did just as he was told. Whilst he had his eyes closed, he wondered what Deirdre's plan was, hopefully it was something that he would love.
"Alright Enda, you can open your eyes now" came Deirdre's voice.
Enda opened his eyes and when he did, they widened in excitement, Deirdre had dropped her dress and now stood completely naked in front of him with a smile on her beautiful face and only the torc around her neck. Enda's eyes landed on her breasts which were round and perfect, her nipples poking at him. His gaze then went down to her belly button and finally landed on the patch of hair on her lower regions.
"Alright Enda" giggled Deirdre, "now that you've seen me naked, I would love for you to take off your clothes".
"What?" asked Enda in surprise.
"We mightn't be able to marry, but I want you to be the one who takes my virginity," said Deirdre.
"You really mean it Deirdre?" asked Enda.
"Yes I do Enda, I you to be the one who deflowers me" smiled Deirdre.
Deirdre's request made Enda excited, without saying another he began to strip of his clothes. First his red cape, then his blue tunic, then his red trousers and lastly his shoes. Finally, he stood before Deirdre naked as the day as he was born with his legs apart, his manhood and testicles in full view for Deirdre to see.
"Considering that your family are farmers, you would have a little muscle on you" said Deirdre, amazed at Enda's physic.
"Well, I never thought that I would ever see you naked" said Enda with a grin on his face.
Deirdre gave him a naught smile in return. Without saying another word, she turned around and brought her wonderfully curved buttocks to Enda's manhood, then she began to move up and down. Enda gave an aroused groan as he felt himself become erect as Deirdre continued to massage his manhood between her bum cheeks, he desperately wished that he could put it inside her and fuck her until she screamed his name in pleasure.
"Please Deirdre no more" Enda begged, "I want to fuck you right now".
"And you will have me" said Deirdre as she finished grinding and turned around to face him, "lie down please".
Enda lay down on the soft grass as Deirdre slowly knelt down and lowered herself onto his waiting manhood. Deirdre gave small whimper of pain as she felt it entered her love tunnel.
"Are you alright Deirdre?" asked Enda, worried if he had hurt her.
"It's okay Enda" assured Deirdre, "it's that your manhood is too big and its my first time so it might hurt a bit".
"Are you sure that you want to continue?" asked Enda.
"Yes, Enda I do and don't worry, it will soon turn from plain to pleasure" assured Deirdre.
Trusting her decision, Enda then gave the first thrust. Deirdre gave a whimpered in pain at first, but soon after Enda gave a few more thrusts, she began to moan in pleasure. Deirdre then began to gently go up and down on Enda's manhood, causing the two of them to moan in ecstasy. Deirdre then grabbed Enda's hands placed them on her breasts, Enda then squeezed her breasts and gently teased her nipples, causing them to harden.
For an hour or two it seemed, Enda and Deirdre's lovemaking continued. Enda soon went from squeezing Deirdre's breasts to massaging her buttocks, several times Deirdre leaned down to French kiss Enda. Soon however the best part was about to come, as Deirdre straggled him, Enda began to feel the pressure starting to build up on his manhood.
He looked up at Deirdre who was clearly having the time of her life, as she put his hands back on her breasts.
"Deirdre I'm about release" panted Enda.
"Do it inside me, please do instead me Enda" begged Deirdre.
"You sure?" asked Enda.
"Yes, Enda please" begged Deirdre, "I want to bear your child".
Hearing that sent Enda over the edge, he then began to thrust more vigorously, causing Deirdre to moan and groan in pleasure. Giving one final thrust, Deirdre's vaginal muscles clamped around his manhood as he released a jet of fiery hot liquid inside of her. Enda and Deirdre both orgasmed loudly before Deirdre rolled onto the grass beside him, Enda then grasped her buttocks and drew her close to him.
"Gods that was wonderful" said Deirdre breathlessly.
"I honestly didn't know that I could please you like that," said Enda.
"Well I guess that there are some things about ourselves that we don't know" smiled Deirdre.
Enda and Deirdre, both gave each other a lovingly kiss, they were both so tired from their lovemaking that they fell asleep in a lovers embrace. When they awoke a few hours later, they saw that the sun was beginning to go down.
"Shit looks like we slept for longer than we thought," said Enda.
"We better get back to the village before my father sends some of his warriors out to look for me," said Deirdre.
"You go first" said Enda, "if we both arrived back together, they will realize that we were together".
Deirdre agreed with him. After they both quickly dressed, Enda helped Deirdre to fill her clay pitchers with water and then she hurried back to the village. When she arrived, she saw that her father and Cullain were about to ride out with some warriors to look for her.
"Deirdre" said Gwynwyll, "where in Eire have you being?".
"I was just collecting some water from the stream father" said Deirdre showing him the filled pitchers.
"You were gone for hours Deirdre" said Cullain.
"I was asleep" said Deirdre quickly.
Both Gwynwyll and Cullain looked at each other, before turning back to Deirdre.
"You were asleep daughter?" asked Gwynwyll.
"That's right" said Deirdre, "whilst I was collecting the water, I felt a little tired and so I decided to take a little nap".
Gwynwyll looked at his daughter with a questioning look. Deirdre hoped that he would believe her story, eventually Gwynwyll decided to leave it for now.
"Just don't frighten us like that again Deirdre" said Gwynwyll, "do you understand me?".
"Yes, I do father" said Deirdre relieved.
"Good now run along back to your mother and sisters" said Gwynwyll.
"Okay father," said Deirdre.
Deirdre ran off back to her mother as Gwynwyll and Cullain watched her leave. Cullain then went home a few minutes later, leaving Gwynwyll behind deep in thought. 10 minutes later, Enda came back to the village. He was walking up to his hut when Connor, his father came out with an angry look on his face.
"Where have you been Enda?" he asked angrily.
"I was just out for a walk" lied Enda.
"Don't you lie to me boy" said Connor angrily, "you've been gone hours and your brother had to do your chores".
"Good, maybe it will teach Aiden some sense" remarked Enda.
"Don't you take that tone with me boy" warned Connor.
It was then that Enda decided that he had enough. All his life, his father had never once showed him his love or even approval, all he ever did was to mock him and call him names. Well Enda decided that he wasn't going to take it anymore, so he decided to stand up for himself.
"I'm talking to you boy" said Connor angrily when he realized that Enda was looking at him.
"Fuck you" said Enda at last.
"What?" said Connor shocked at what his son had just said to him.
"I said fuck you" said Enda angrily.
"Don't you ever speak to me like that boy" said Connor enraged at his sons attitude towards him.
Enda however wasn't going to listen to another of his father's insults and tried to walk away. Connor however furiously grabbed Enda's arm, but before he could say anything, Enda spun around and slammed his fist into his face. Connor then fell to the ground with a bloody nose as he looked up at his son, who gazed down angrily at him.
"Don't you fucking dare touch me again father" said Enda angrily, "all my life you've never shown me any love or respect, instead all you've ever done is insult and mock me. Well, I've had it with you and your treatment, so fuck you or go kill yourself you worthless coward.
Whilst Enda was ranting towards his father his mother, brother and uncle had heard the commotion and came to see what it was. They saw Enda strike his father and give him a severe talking to.
"And if you ever touch me like that again, I'll take that foot long butchers' knife and shove it in your heart, you worthless bastard" finished Enda.
Enda then spat on his father before turning and walking into the hut. As he entered his mother tried to talk to him.
"Enda" she said gently.
"Don't you dare start mother" said Enda angrily, "you are just as bad, you were never there for me when I needed it, so you can fuck off as well".
Enda then took his seat at the table and began to help himself to some meat that had been cooked earlier. Whilst his brother and uncle helped his father up, his mother looked at him with some tears in her eyes. She knew that he was right, she had never been there for him when he needed and now, she was certain that he lost all his love for her. She then turned to see Ciaran and Oscar helping Connor up, the three of the noticed that she had a look of disgust and contempt on her face.
"What" the three of them asked together.
Outside unbeknownst to the family, Deirdre had seen all. Although she was very proud of Enda standing up for himself, she was saddened however of why he did. His family were supposed to love him no matter what, she wondered if her family would have done the same if she had been born disfigured like him.
Deirdre turned around and walked back home. However what she didn't noticed was the Druid King emerging from the shadows, watching her head back home. Just like her, Gwynwyll had seen everything. He was beginning to think that Deirdre's story of falling asleep by the stream was true or not, he wondered if she had actually snuck out to meet that boy and filled the pitchers with water as to avoid suspicion. Whilst he had no prove at the current time, Gwynwyll knew that he had to get to the bottom of this.
It was Samhain and Enda stood among the celebrants dancing and chanting around the bonfire. In his left hand he held a fat wineskin, from which he often drank. In his right he held a lamb's leg, which he was eating. His eyes were fixed on the figures of Deirdre and Cullain, whirling exuberantly around the fire, to the immense approval of the tribe. For earlier that day they had been married, much to the joy and relief of all, except for Enda and Deirdre.
As they whirled passed Enda, Deirdre noticed him and mouthed, "I love you", to which a smile came to Enda's face. Although he wanted to reply to her, they knew that he couldn't risk Cullain seeing him.
However unbeknownst to them, Gwynwyll had seen Deirdre say something to Enda that made him smile. He was beginning to wonder if his hunch was right.
"What is it dear?" Bridget asked her husband when she noticed him look in the direction where Enda was standing.
"I'm beginning to wonder if Deirdre has been seeing that boy behind our backs" said Gwynwyll.
"Nonsense dear" said Bridget, "next time you'll be saying that she pregnant with that boy's child".
"Maybe she is" replied Gwynwyll, "maybe that's the reason she's been getting sick for the past week and why she wanted to marry Cullain instead of waiting until spring like we originally planned".
"Alright that's enough Gwynwyll" Bridget said sternly, "our daughter obviously wanted to marry Cullain because she came to her senses and realized that she actually loved him and not that boy".
Gwynwyll decided not to argue with his queen anymore and kept his mouth shut. But what Bridget didn't realize that her husband was right, meanwhile just a short distance from the village a pack of wolves began to howl.
9 Months and a week later
Enda was waiting patiently at the stream for Deirdre to show. It had been a week since she had given birth and he was eager to see both her and their child for the first time. Everyone in the tribe had believed that the child was Cullain's, but what they didn't know was that the child was really Enda's. About a week after they had made love by the stream, Deirdre began to feel sick her family simply brushed it off as a simple illness that would pass in a few days. Deirdre however had correctly guessed the cause of her sickness; it was the reason why she begged her father if she and Cullain could marry instead of waiting for the spring.
Both Enda and Deidre knew that if the truth was known, then their child would be called a bastard by the entire tribe and would be considered an outcast or worse, be killed at birth. So, they had done what was best for them.
Enda heard someone coming from behind him. He turned to see his beloved Deirdre standing there, in her arms, was their sleeping son. Enda couldn't hold back his tears as he held his son for the first time, Deirdre gave a smile at the beautiful scene in front of her.
"He's got your hair" Enda told Deirdre.
"And your eyes" replied Deirdre.
"I can't believe Cullain actually thinks Finn's his," said Enda.
"I know and I can't believe it either" replied Deirdre.
Deirdre gently took back Finn from Enda, Finn then woke and began to smile at his parents. Both Enda and Deirdre smiled at their little son, although they both knew that their love had to stay secret, they knew it would last for all of eternity and will never be broken. Deirdre then began to walk back to the village, whilst Enda decided to stay by the stream for a while, despite the secret, he felt like the happiest man in all of Hibernia.
Haddonfield, Illinois, Halloween 1996
The church was a quiet solemn place, outside people were greeting the Myers family and giving them their condolences. At the front of the church, 35 year old Laurie Lloyd stood with her twin 15 year old daughters, Jamie and Karen Hawkins. With them was Laurie's good friend, recently widowed 36 year old Lynda Myers and her son, 10 year old Samuel Myers who was wearing a golden torac. As they were greeting people, an elderly man wearing a trench coat came up to them, both Laurie and Lynda were glad to see him as they shook each his hand.
"Laurie, Lynda" the old man greeted.
"Dr. Samuel Loomis" greeted Laurie.
"Were so glad that you came" said Lynda.
"I had to come" said Dr. Loomis said sadly, "especially after what happened to Michael".
Laurie and Lynda both nodded sadly at Loomis' words. Just four days earlier, 39 year old Sheriff Michael Myers, Laurie's older brother and Lynda's husband had been killed in a shootout. A mentally unstable thief had tried to rob the local convenience store, Michael and two of his deputies had arrived on the scene when the thief had pulled out a gun and began to fire at them.
During the shootout, Michael had tried to defuse the situation by trying to calm the guy down. His deputies had tried talk him out of it, but Michael believed that he could do. For a brief moment it looked like Michael was going to succeed, however a car with a faulty exhaust pipe was driving by and let out a blast. A moment later the thief had shot Michael in the chest, the thief was killed shortly after by one of Michael's deputies. They called an ambulance, but tragically despite the hospital's best efforts, Michael died that night.
"So how's young Samuel doing?" Dr. Loomis asked Lynda about his namesake.
"Its hard for him" Lynda said as tears began to form, "he really misses his dad".
Poor Lynda began to cry as Laurie gave her a comforting hug. Dr. Loomis knew how much Lynda had loved, they had begun dating back in 1978, when was 18 and Michael was 21. Three years later they had got married and two years after that, Samuel was born. When Samuel was, Michael became Sheriff of Haddonfield after Leigh Brackett retired.
"So who else is coming?" Dr. Loomis asked Laurie.
"Well Mom and Dad are coming with Michael's body. Sheriff Brackett's here, Annie isn't able to come due to her illness. Tommy's coming and so is Marion Chambers" said Laurie.
"Well I admit that it will be nice to see Marion again" smiled Dr. Loomis at the thought of seeing his old assistant, "but what about Judith is she coming to?".
Both Laurie and Lynda scowled at the mentioning of the the former and Michael's sisters name.
"Jamie please take your sister and cousin inside whilst me and aunt Lynda talk to Dr. Loomis alone?" asked Laurie.
"Sure thing mom" said Jamie as she took Samuel by the hand and lead him inside the church.
Dr. Samuel Loomis began to regret asking where Judith was coming. He knew that both Laurie and Michael didn't have a good relationship with her, mainly due to Judith's rude and extremely bitchy behaviour.
"I'm afraid that Judith called to say that she's too busy to my dear baby brothers funeral" said Laurie in a sarcastic tone of voice.
"But I think that she's too busy screwing over another husband, just like she's done with her three other husbands" said Lynda contemptuously.
"Maybe we should just forget about Judith and just remember Michael" said Dr. Loomis kindly, "take some time to remember his character and all the good times you all shared together.
This made Laurie and Lynda feel just a bit better. Just then the hearse, carrying Michael's coffin arrived. Laurie and Michael's parents, Peter and Edith got out of the hearse as the men began to unload Michael's coffin. Dr' Loomis walked up to Peter and Edith, he kindly offered them his condolences and told them to remember Michael and all of the happy times they shared.
As the congregation went into the church, they were unaware of the bluish transparent figures watching them, Dr. Loomis however was and gave them a smile. One of them was a 39 year old man wearing a sheriff's uniform, the other two were a pair of 17 year old Celts, the founders of the Meyers family. Smiling at Dr. Loomis's kind the three figures knew that Laurie, Jamie, Lynda and Samuel were going to be okay and happy for the rest of their lives. With that Michael, Enda and Deirdre Dr. Loomis a smile before fading away, whilst Dr. Loomis turned around and walked into the church.
