As you guys should know, I took AP World History while I was in High School, so most of these chapters will be based on what I learned while I was a junior taking the course. Also, shoutout to my old history teacher (he was perhaps the funniest guy in the entire school). I do truly miss him.
But besides that, enjoy this chapter. After reading this, I want you guys to guess which historical period this chapter takes place in.
In a desert located in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere, near some train tracks, a young blond-haired boy moaned as he slowly awoke. His head ached and there was a distant whistling noise that was driving him nuts. His eyes widened as he realized where he was. He stood up from the dusty ground and surveyed his surroundings. Where exactly was he? That was a question this strange boy couldn't figure out.
He then looked down and found his friends laying flat on the ground next to each other, both moaning in pain. It was like they were transported here by a rough force. Something that felt too supernatural for being living in the year they were caught in to understand.
The young boy rushed over and shook both of his friends to wake up. "Guys, get up! Get up!" He spoke frantically.
His male friend moaned and fluttered his eyes open, but was he caught a glimpse of where he was, he immediately jumped to his feet and shrieked in fear. "What?! What is this? What is this?"
"Nicky, Cain, I'm trying to sleep...shut up!" The girl exclaimed, but then looked up at her friends before looking straight forward, where they were near some train tracks. Her eyes widened as she got up to her feet and looked around frantically. "W-what happened?!"
The boy, Nicky, shrugged as he shook his head. "I-I don't know."
"W-where did that book take us?"
It was at that moment that the realization struck Cain to the core. The Time Book...that thief back in the museum certainly knew the powers it contained, as it threw the book intentionally for it to open and...
The pieces were put together. They were not in the year they were normally in their whole lives.
"Guys, the TB!" Cain exclaimed.
Nicky snapped his fingers. "Exactly! Wait what about the TB?"
"My research was correct. The legend was true! That book was magic!"
Jasmine scratched her head as she spoke questionably. "Wait, so you're telling me that book sent us back in time!"
"Yes, and trust me. By the looks of it...this does not look like Chicago."
Nicky groaned as he exclaimed. "Out of all the stupid things that could occur...WHY ON EARTH DID YOUR FATHER HAVE TO BRING US TO THAT GOD-FORSAKEN MUSEUM?!"
Cain backed up a few feet. It was at that point that Jasmine stepped in between the two boys and looked sternly at Nicky. "Dude, don't put too much blame on him. Besides, all we need to do is to get back home."
Nicky screeched. "HOW?! We are in the middle of nowhere!" That last word of that exclamation echoed throughout the entire landscape.
"Wait," Cain spoke up, standing between the irate Nicky and the defensive Jasmine. "I think I have the solution."
Both Nicky and Jasmine looked crossly at Cain, wondering what he could possibly possess that could help them out of this delicate situation. Cain reached over to his back pocket and pulled out the three necklaces they found back in the museum. There were three color necklaces: red, yellow, and blue. While Jasmine was a bit amazed, Nicky just scoffed in disappointment.
"Are you kidding me? NECKLACES?! How the hell can that solve our situation?"
"Nicky...if my research based on the book is correct, then these necklaces were brought along with the book to grant three humans powers that can help them travel through time."
"Travel through time? Isn't that what the book is for?" Jasmine asked.
"Yeah, but these necklaces need some sort of energy so they can be used. If we were to use them, then their batteries would drain and need more time for them to recharge again. That's why we need the book."
"So where do you think the book landed?" Nicky asked.
Cain just shook his head defeatedly. What the teens didn't know was that someone was watching them once again from above, and they had plans for the kids. Very diabolical plans.
In what appeared to be a chamber from beyond the realm of space and time, the criminal from before that had distastefully sent the three teens stranded in a different time was sitting in his throne as he examined the teens through a crystal ball that he had possessed years ago. In his possession was also the legendary TB, which he planned on using to take over space and time.
But there was a problem. The three Time-laces, the energizers of the book were now gone, and the villain had just realized that the three rascals he had to deal with before are now the guardians of the necklaces.
The psycho crook, known as the notorious Major Lanny Maslow, growled as he noticed the kid wearing a yellow vest carrying the three necklaces in his hands, surprising his friends. The villain knew it wouldn't be long until they would figure out how to use the Time-laces, and soon, they would become unstoppable.
Just then, someone approached him. A woman with long, blond hair wearing a black robe chuckled as she noticed her overlord clutching the Time Book in his hands.
"I see you have finally the TB, Major Maslow." She spoke.
Maslow snickered. "Yes, Kaitlynn, for years I had doubts this would work. Like anybody would even care for this book. I had doubts that this book had any sort of power as it had a long time ago. I knew, based on the prophecy, that the chosen ones would dare come near the book, it would activate once again." He stood up and held the book up high. "And now it is time for DOMINATION!"
Kaitlynn shook her head. "You know that those three have the necklaces, right?'
Maslow nodded his head, his face turning grim as he stood up, swinging his crystal ball away, causing it to smash against an adjacent wall. Maslow then held the book against his chest as he spoke. "It won't take long before Aiden Tally's son and his friends use the necklaces, so I may need backup in order to destroy them before they come in between me and success. Send the Alarmers!"
Kaitlynn bowed as she spoke. "Yes, sir."
The Time-laces were ancient, dating back to the beginning of time. They were like clocks of themselves, but it would display whatever year Nicky and his friends were currently in.
Nicky squinted his eyes at the clock on his red necklaces. It read. England. 1799.
Jasmine shook her head. "No way! We're in a different COUNTRY?!"
Cain gasped as he looked up from his necklace. "Guys, we are in the industrial revolution!"
Jasmine tilted her head to the right as she spoke. "You mean when..."
"Yes, when Europe and the United States transitioned to new manufacturing processes, which involved new practices such as chemical manufacturing and iron production processes."
Nicky and Jasmine looked over at one another with confusion. Cain just groaned as he decided to speak in a language they could understand. "It is when people started using trains and boats to send supplies to one another."
"Ohhh..." Both Nicky and Jasmine murmured.
"Well, if we are in the Industrial Revolution, how can we get back home?" Jasmine asked, but just then, a British voice was heard.
"I'll show you." The three teens turned to see mystical-looking woman approaching them, an orb in her hand. "Just come with me."
"Who are you?" Nicky asked, putting on a defensive stance.
"I'm Millicent Carter." She smiled. "I am your new friend, dear Rangers."
How many of ya'll have guessed the Industrial Revolution? To answer some questions I predict you guys may have...yes, Cain's father knows all about the book and the necklaces, and no, that will not make Cain the Red Ranger. The role will have plans for Nicky.
Anyway, see ya next time!
