"Not much, from what I've heard he doesn't like having anyone else own a race that he owns." she answered her mother, who immediately let out a breath of relief.
"Oh, thank goodness I've been hearing stories about the fleet and how it views everyone that strays too far from the way Humans look." her mother said to her.
"What do you mean?" she asked her mother.
Ever since she left her homeworld to earn silvers so that she could send them to her family, she had been surrounded by all sorts of species that did resemble Humans in one way or another but were vastly different from each other.
She had met the Asari a race that was completely made up of females that mated with other races to increase the genetic variety of their species.
The self-important Light and Night Elves who were helping the forest of the planet grow as their races would be the ones that would share the planet with the Asari, after all of the minerals that the fleet needed were dug up.
"Well, you know how the Admiral doesn't allow any of the races that don't look like us into the fleet." Her mother began to say.
"Hey we have customers you can call back later." her boss said to her.
"I have to go, mom, I'll call you back later." she said to her mom and she watched as her sisters and her mom waved goodbye to her before the video was cut off.
"Bartender give us whatever you recommend." a man said to her boss as he loudly slammed his fist onto the counter.
"Sounds like you boys have had a good day." she said to the man as she walked up to him to see if they wanted something to eat.
"Yeah, you could say that, miss you see we just got some good news the Admirals approved our settlement petition."
'Yep after today every new planet that is found will be given to us Humans to settle." he said to her as her boss placed several glasses filled with several different kinds of expensive drinks in front of the man and his friends.
She didn't allow the shock of the news to show on her face, by now it was widely known that the fleet had incredibly advanced terraforming technology.
If a planet was dead and had nothing useful for the fleet, then it could be turned into a planet for people to live on.
Most if not every moon around said planet was left uninhabited unless it had something that made the effort of terraforming it profitable, but most of the time it was left for the people that now lived on the planet to do with as they pleased.
It's for this reason that the area of space that the fleet had under its control had so many wolds either being terraformed or people living on them.
She had lived in fleet-controlled space long enough to know that if a planet was a sighed or promised to a race or more than one race ten there was no changing the Admirals decision.
So if a race already had a planet or had a planet promised to them then they would be in the safest area of fleet space.
And she had just heard that all of the man in front of her say that most of the planets that haven't been promised to anyone had just been handed over to the Humans.
"So to celebrate little missy how about you pass the time with me and the boys before we have to go back to the ship." he said to her, as he hesitantly looked at the drinks in front of him, before choosing the one that looked as if it wouldn't poison him and drinking it in one go.
"Why not stay for a while ad help mine, there's plenty of work." her boss said to the man but it was one of his companions that answered.
"Can't with all of the planets under our control, the Admiral has ordered us to re-build our militaries and fleets."
"That's right Humanity is getting its empire back!" the man announced before all six of them lifted their drinks.
As she watched the men cheer and order more drinks she couldn't help but worried.
There was already an Empire that favored Humans over other races and it wasn't kind to anything that wasn't Human.
And while everyone in the fleet was a slave to the Admiral, no one felt the chains around their necks because of the way the Admiral ruled his empire.
There were plenty of drones and droids throughout fleet space but none of them beat anyone or forced anyone into compliance.
She had met plenty of races that existed in the unknown regions that had been brought into the fleet and from what they had said to her the drones that made contact with them, didn't take anything from them.
The typical subjugation of a race went like this, a small fleet of drone-controlled ships arrived on a planet and said to its inhabitants.
"You are now slaves to the Admiral and the Fleet." and they would wait for whatever leaders the race had to kneel- vow or surrender to them.
Most of the time the races they encountered were already enduring attacks from slavers and pirates that they didn't have the strength to defend themselves so they didn't put up any resistance.
After the race submitted, the ships would set up a blockade around the planet and begin to help the population rebuild whatever cities or environments were destroyed.
As usual, the planets would be scanned for anything useful, but if there was nothing on it then the drones would leave the planet untouched.
The reason for this was the same reason her homeworld was left untouched, the planet didn't have anything useful for the fleet, except its people.
With that said the Admiral didn't like the fact that someone else had something that belonged to him, so he would send several ships to bring back whatever had been taken from those planets before he had laid claim to them.
If it hadn't been because her mother had shown her, the ships filled with her people she would have believed that this part of the rumor was just that a rumor.
She felt someone touch her but and she was about to punch whoever was touching her when she saw the reflection of the Asari Matriarch standing behind her.
The woman was a regular in the bar and while she was someone important to her people, she was just another miner now and she had no shame in acting as one.
She could see the woman's dark blue eyes through the reflection of the mirror and as her eyes made contact with the matriarchs she felt herself stiffen as the woman looked directly into her soul.
"Hey, I told you already, don't touch my girls!" her boss said to the woman who just laughed and tightened her grip before finally letting go and walking towards a nearby table.
The sound of a small bell ringing woke her from the trance she had found herself in, as all of the men and women that didn't offer sexual services began to head into the back of the bar.
Her boss had made this system to keep them safe, as the Asari weren't known to accept no for an answer.
Unlike the elves who could easily defend themselves everyone that was now in the back of the bar couldn't defend themselves from an Asari that had decided she wanted them and would have them no matter what.
The back of the bar was a small town in itself as it had several buildings connected.
One side of the buildings had all of the stores- restaurants and bars that people went to when they wanted to buy something or just pass the time, while the other had the apartments and homes that people lived in.
As she walked home she couldn't stop herself from remembering what she had heard earlier.
Just how much would the fleet change when the Humans had more control?
Would the admiral give them control over the other races and if he did would they treat everyone the same way that the admiral did?
She had been so lost in her thoughts that she had failed to notice the pair of glowing eyes that were staring at her through the alleys of the town.
In what felt like a fraction of a second she felt a pair of hands grab her and pull her into the darkness.
"Shh, watch" she heard someone whisper to her.
She was so scared that she wasn't able to react yet and while she couldn't see who was holding her, she did see a group of Asari walk past the alley.
She felt the person loosen their grip on her mouth and chest and as she turned to see who was holding her she found herself staring into the familiar glow of a night elf's eyes.
"You could have said something," she said to her savior who s only reason was to hit her over the head.
"What good would that have done, you're the one that couldn't notice them following her." the night elf said to her before he covered her mouth again.
She wanted to yell at the man, but she soon heard someone running past the alley she was in and while she couldn't see who it was, she knew that the Asari had realized that they had lost her.
"I'll keep you safe tonight, but you need to leave this world tomorrow." he said to her.
"Why?" she asked the man who was listening to their surroundings.
"The reason this planet was given to us and the Asari, was so that we could restrain our darker natures."
"Look the only thing that you have to know is that this planet will be made exclusively for the Asari- Light and Night Elves because of certain instances."
She looked at the man in front of her and while she couldn't see anything but the white glow of his eyes, she understood that he was saying the truth.
There had been stories about Light Elves performing rituals that made balls of light fall into wells that they now guarded.
She had heard stories about Night Elves hunting people and animals and she had heard about the Asari kidnapping people only to return them months later.
'So what now?" she asked him.
"Now we wait because they're going to be waiting for you to go home, sogo ahead and sit down. I have snacks and drinks if you're hungry or thirsty" he said to her.
The night passed painfully slow and while she did end up sleeping it didn't help her rest, as she opened her eyes she found that the Night Elf was still guarding her.
He stayed with her as she walked home and picked up the few things she had that belonged to her.
She stopped and looked at the apartment that she had lived in and while she hadn't lived in it for long she couldn't help but feel depressed that she had to leave it like this.
