THE CLONE WAR'S END HAS BEGUN. OBI-WAN KENOBI HAS DEFEATED GENERAL GRIEVOUS ON UTAPAU. AHSOKA TANO HAS DEFEATED MAUL ON MANDALORE. ANAKIN SKYWALKER HAS REVEALED SIDIOUS'S IDENTITY TO THE JEDI COUNCIL. UNDER MACE WINDU'S INSTRUCTION, HE CURRENTLY WAITS IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS…
Anakin stood alone in the chamber of the Jedi Council, watching shuttles and speeders whizz by. Conflict filled his veins, unsure as of what to do. Chancellor Palpatine had been his friend since he was a child. He did feel betrayed that he was secretly a Sith the whole time. That he had been controlling this war that caused so many good people to die. However, he was one of the only people who knew of Padme.
Thinking of his wife drew his attention to the building in which her apartment was in. It stood taller than the rest of the nearby buildings, and he could nearly make out the balcony of her apartment. Recently he has been dreaming of her dying in childbirth. Much like his dreams of his mom, in which ended with her death on Tatooine. Palpatine had promised him the ability to save her. Was she worth losing to kill the sith?
Just as he was about to make a decision, his comlink blinked. The ID showed up as Fulcrum. That was Ahsoka! Did that mean Maul was captured?
"Hey Snips." Anakin grinned as he answered.
"Been a while since I've heard that one, Anakin." Ahsoka's voice said jokingly. "Maul has been captured, we are en route to Coruscant."
"That's brilliant news!" Anakin exclaimed. "And Obi-Wan has defeated Grievous. This war is basically over!"
"Finally." Ahsoka sighed, pausing for a moment. "What happened on your end? Obi-Wan contacted me during the siege and told me you killed Dooku. Anything else happen?"
"Sidious has been revealed as the Chancellor." Anakin told her.
"WHAT!?" Ahsoka gasped. "What's going to happen? Are we going to take him down?"
"Master Windu left to arrest him and told me to stay."
"Why!?" Ahsoka questioned. "He could use you."
"He could feel my conflict." Anakin explained. "Palpatine is my friend. It would be too difficult for me to overcome that."
"I understand." Ahsoka sighed. "We are 2 minutes out from Coruscant. Meet me at the Senate building. I am assuming Sidious won't go quietly. Together we can back up Master Windu."
"Are you sure, Ahsoka?" Anakin asked. "You know how Windu is. This would directly conflict with his orders."
"What is with you?" Ahsoka asked, confused. "Since when have you cared what Windu or the council wants?"
"Once we finish with Sidious, I will tell you." Anakin sighed. "I have a secret that I haven't told anyone, and my hesitation ties directly with it.
"Understood Master, you know you can tell me anything." Ahsoka said softly. "I told you about Lux. You know I wouldn't judge you even if you told me you have been secretly married to Padme."
"Wait, what!?" Anakin exclaimed, as Ahsoka burst out laughing. "There is no way that was a guess."
"I have known since the first time I saw you two together." Ahsoka explained. "It's a wonder the council doesn't already know. Especially Obi-Wan. You two can not hide it very well."
Anakin watched the skies as a Republic Venator-Class Star Destroyer jumped out of Hyperspace above the planet. "I'm assuming that was you?"
"You would be correct, Skyguy." Ahsoka confirmed. "Meet me outside of the Senate building. I have a feeling Master Windu may be needing some back up."
It didn't take long. Anakin ran at full speed through the halls of the Jedi Temple. He jumped in the nearest speeder and took off, cutting through lanes of traffic and breaking tons of traffic laws. It was worth it though, although he was still unsure as to what he really wanted.
"Beat you." Ahsoka said, sneaking up behind him as he touched down outside the senate. "Let's go."
The pair used the force to move quicker through the halls, reaching the office of the Supreme Chancellor in record time. Bursting through the doors, a scene that neither of them expected met their eyes. Master Mace Windu stood above Palpatine, his amethyst lightsaber blade pointing down at the seemingly beaten Sith Lord.
"You are under arrest, my lord." Windu told Palpatine as he motioned for the pair to stay back. Palpatine however looked straight at Anakin.
"Anakin, I told you it would come to this!" Palpatine exclaimed, ignoring Ahsoka, not deeming her worthy of attention. "I was right, the Jedi are taking over."
"The oppression of the Sith will never return." Mace Windu spat. "You have lost."
"No...No…" Palpatine shook his head, a smirk growing across his face. "No...You will die!"
A barrage of Sith Lightning erupted out of the Sith's hands, Windu only barely able to bring his lightsaber up in time to reflect it.
"He's a traitor!" Palpatine groaned out.
"He is the traitor." Windu exclaimed.
"We have to help them!" Ahsoka motioned, pulling out the repaired versions of her lightsabers that Anakin gave to her before Mandalore.. Anakin pulled out his hilt, although was unwilling to ignite it. He had to decide now what to do.
"I have the power to save the one you love!" Palpatine begged. "You must choose!"
"Don't listen to him, Anakin." Windu prayed. Ahsoka's eyes widened. Maul's warning back on Mandalore echoed through her mind. Then Palpatine's plees. She finally figured out his game.
"You've been seeing Padme dying, haven't you?" Ahsoka gasped. "Just like your mother."
Anakin nodded as Palpatine's lightning shut off, Palpatine gasping for air, calling out for help and being seemingly weakend. His face now covered in scars from the lightning.
"I'm too weak." Palpatine muttered, however the yellow glow in his eyes remained stronger than ever. Ahsoka was not fooled for one second however, as she ignited her twin Sapphire blades and stared down the man she used to call a friend.
"I am going to end this, once and for all!" Windu shouted down to the Sith Lord.
"You can't!" Anakin gasped in horror. "He must stand trial!"
"He has control of the senate and the courts!" Windu counters. "He's too dangerous to be left alive!"
"It's not the Jedi Way!" Anakin shouted. "He must live!"
As Mace Windu raised the amethyst blade of his lightsaber, Ahsoka force pushed Windu out of the way so his blade slashed at thin air, knocking him off balance and falling flat on his face. Killing Palpatine was not the way to go, but her priority was preventing Maul's vision from coming true. Ahsoka held her blades at Sidious as she turned to her old master.
"Anakin, listen to me. He is not the solution. He must have been planting those visions in your head to manipulate you. He's a Sith, he cannot be trusted."
"I can't lose Padme!" Anakin exclaimed in fear as his eyes flashed Sith Yellow for a brief second.
"You won't." Ahsoka told him, her eyes wide with sincerity. "She is a Senator. She'll get the best treatment. She'll be okay."
Anakin looked directly into Ahsoka's eyes, seeing nothing but love and hope. Looking over to wear Sidious lay, for the first time, Anakin saw true evil emitting from his former friend. His eyes went back to his normal blue.
Snap-Hiss
A glow of crimson took both Jedi by surprise, as Sidious, no longer on the floor looking weak, held his lightsaber deep in Mace Windu's head.
"NO!" Anakin shouted as his Sapphire blade ignited in his hand, but a scream froze both him and Ahsoka. All of a sudden Sidious jumped out the window, cackling as he landed on a speeder.
Ahsoka fell to her knees as her lightsabers fell to the ground, deativating.
"We failed." Ahsoka muttered, looking at the dead body of the Jedi Master.
"No." Anakin stated, hoisting Ahsoka up. "Yes we failed Windu. I let myself be tempted by the dark side, but never again. We will find Sidious, and he will be defeated. We will save the Jedi Order."
Meanwhile…
Sheev Palpatine, otherwise known as Darth Sidious hijacked the speeder he landed on, changing its course back to his Senate Chambers. He knew Skywalker and Tano would not stick around very long; they'd be headed back to the Jedi Temple.
Pulling out his comlink and hooking it up to the speeder, he mentally cursed that wretched padawan of Skywlakers. He knew he wouldn't turn him with her around, so he orchestrated Barris Offee to bomb the Jedi Temple and blame Tano. The plan went perfectly, but somehow fate brought them back together. Luckily, he had his plans set, and nothing was going to change that. Barriss Offee could be released from prison and act as his apprentice. But first to distract them.
The helmeted clone trooper, Commander of the 212th legion, answered the call.
"Commander Cody." The Sith began, addressing the clone on Utapau, along with Obi-Wan Kenobi. "The time has come. Execute order 66."
The inhibitor chip within his head activated, and Cody's posture stiffening.
"Yes, My Lord."
Sidious continued, calling each Clone leader in each division, getting the message around. However, he needed the most elite squad in order to take on the Jedi at the temple.
"Commander Rex." Sidious addressed. "You and the 501st are to report to the Jedi Temple immediately. Execute Order 66. Wipe the Temple out of all Jedi."
"Yes, Lord Sidious." Rex ended the call. Sidious slightly changed course as he headed to the prison. Time to collect his new apprentice. Barriss was too easy of a target. She would turn or die.
A short few minutes later, he stood outside of Barriss' cell, his hood down.
"Chancellor Palpatine!" Barriss exclaimed, standing up. "Are you okay? What are you doing here?"
"The Jedi have betrayed me, just as they betrayed you." Sidious growled. "They have become enemies of the Republic. Only you stood against them before. Join me and we will destroy the Jedi Order and bring peace."
"Your eyes…" Barriss trailed off. "You are the Sith Lord."
"Yes." Sidious grinned, waving his hand and deactivating the forcefield "Join me as my apprentice, and you shall gain more power than you have ever felt."
"Yes, Master." Barriss' eyes glowed yellow as she fell to her knees.
"The Force is strong with you." Palpatine felt, reaching out mentally. "You shall be known as Darth… Verraderin."
"Thank you, My Master." Verraderin stood, much shorter than Sidious, however radiating darkness just the same.
"Go join the 501st legion." Sidious ordered. "Commander Rex is currently organizing the legion to storm the Jedi Temple. Lead them. Wipe out all the Jedi."
