Prompt – Thank You

Okay, this will remind you all of the umbrella scene from Miraculous, that's cause it's inspired by it. For some reason, I want to do with other ships too.

It rained over Sunset Valley, hunting people on the outside to look for a shelter to avoid getting all wet. By the community school, the bus stood in front of the stairs waiting for the students to leave school to enter it. The students, that had now off stormed out of the building to head to the yellow vehicle and tried to get into it. Some had used their backpacks as protection for themselves from the rain while waiting for their turn to enter the vehicle. The female driver watched the children and the teens enter the bus, then ordered them to calm down due to their hasty behavior to enter into the vehicle.

"Don't worry, there's enough space for all of you," Assured the driver watching the last group enter the bus, then she frowned as she watched VJ Alvi punch a foreign student in the face, making him yell. "VJ! Don't punch Donatello!" Ordered the driver watching the tan-skinned boy elbow the boy with the mohawk against the nose. "Boys! Quit it!" Scolded the woman, then from behind Michael Bachelor shove the two men forward to make space for the rest of the group to enter. The last two were the children Kaylynn Langerak and Darlene Bunch, then Kaylynn looked back to see no one else leaving the building.

"My brother hasn't arrived yet," Spoke Kaylynn making Darlene nod, then look across the bus to only see her own brothers on the bus.

"All are here but him," Commented Darlene, then the door was closed by the driver, which taxed the bus forward to carry the students back home.

At the school, the door opened up to reveal River McIrish stepping out and shriek at seeing the bus had already left with the rain falling down on the ground, more intense and she placed herself on the side to watch the rain. Her cellphone beeped, then she took it from her messenger bag to check it out and see it came from her mother.

"I'm still at work. If you miss the bus, meet me here, I will bring us two home," River read, then put her phone back and observed the rain, then saw a ray pass over the sky making River curious from seeing its color. River picked out her cellphone again to send her mother a message, then as she put it back again, she saw the door open up again to recognize the student, she had offered to help him out with learning.

"The bus left, right?" Questioned the boy in the green jacket.

"You're here too, Parker?" Questioned River curious, then noticed he wasn't wearing the cap he usually would. "Uh what happened to your cap?"

"My…..the principal took it off me before," Responded Parker making River snort.

"Okay, looks like Aunt Mae isn't the only one who's hoping for your improvement at the school," Mentioned River making Parker smile.

"Yeah, you know she's my mom's sister and my mom really wants me to improve after finding out I've been going through school by copying Ethan's homework," Stated Parker passing his hand behind his neck, then noticed over the sky another flash blink above the sky earning the boy's attention. "Woah,"

River looked up as well, then looked back at Parker, which returned to look at the girl.

"You don't have an umbrella with you, right?" Questioned Parker making River shake her head.

"I wasn't expecting rain today," Commented River making the slightly taller boy nod.

"Same. Otherwise, I would run to the bus or pull my jacket over my head. Most of the time I would forget my umbrella anyway," Commented Parker making River nod.

"My mom would have given it to me or I would have put it in my bag. Because of the school bus, I barely take it," Explained River making Parker nod, then he watched at the park a woman race with a book over her head making her way towards the city hall.

"You're going to wait until the rain stops or reduces?" Questioned Parker watching River shake her head.

"Well, my mother offered to ride me home, if I would miss the bus. She's there at the Doo Peas tower," Mentioned River. "I could just run there," The brunette commented, then Parker unzipped his jacket and held it out at River, which glimpsed surprised at it.

"Come, put it over your head. It will protect you until there," Parker stated making River smile and pick up his jacket.

"Okay, but you tag along. You don't have to go out there without this," River warned holding the outside of the jacket up while offering the other part to the raven-haired boy. Parker nodded, then held the jacket above his head and glimpsed at the friend, who beamed at him.

"Okay, let's go to the left. It's faster," Said River and walked along with Parker at the same pace while using his sports jacket for protection.

"Right," Agreed the boy, afterward both reached the stairs and went down, afterward Parker stopped followed by River by his deed, then spotted a car on the road reaching a large water puddle near the sidewalk. River and Parked stepped back to watch the car pass in front of them splashing water against them, making them feel annoyed.

"Watch it!" Exclaimed River, then looked at Parker, which had a small grin on his face from her reaction, then she glared at him and jumped at the puddle to kick a bit water against the boy's leg, making him jump.

"Hey!" Complained Parker watching her hold the jacket over her head, while he stood now in the rain. River chuckled, then Parker jumped into the puddle to get her flats wet as well, making the girl laugh.

"They were wet anyway," Added the brunette watching the boy cross his arms with a smirk, while shaking his head. "Come on, cover your head," Ordered the girl helping the friend put it over his head, then both crossed the road together while walking past the gym heading to the tower.

"You know eventually my mother could still be working," Commented Parker. "Or most of the time. She's lately doing earlier shifts,"

"Great, so you don't have to go home like this," Stated River.

"I wouldn't mind. It's not so far thought,"

"Still, you would get all wet,"

"I sort of are right now," Added Parker making River chuckle, then the two arrived at the sidewalk getting closer to the lot.

"I believe your jacket is slowly drenched with the rain" Mentioned River followed by seeing on the windows of the building the lighting reflect on it, making her drop her mouth. "Wow, did you see the lighting reflection on the windows?" Questioned River watching Parker look at the windows to only hear the thunder echo around the valley.

"I missed it," Replied Parker. "But we're here now," Commented Parker, then watched his jacket fly off their hands down at a large puddle of water. Both shrieked and ran to get the jacket.

"Now it's absorbing more than it did before," Commented Parker amused by the accident, while River felt a bit annoyed by it.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting the wind to blow this off us," Apologized the brunette making Parker shake his head.

"It's okay, It just happened" Parker commented grabbing the jacket, while River helped him and tried to wring it out as the boy held it in his hands.

"I think the best for you is to get the head out of the rain," Stated River making Parker nod.

"Both of us should," Commented the raven-haired making the girl nod, still trying to wring out the water and he walked along with her sideways to the near of the building's entrance. "Thank you…."

"Thank you" Added River as well getting along with Parker close to the door, then both jumped away from the door as is smashed open to have Nick Alto run out of the building shrieking the teenage duo, which jumped away from the door. River had Parker's jacket in her hands, while Parker glimpsed at the thick man running towards the gym.

"He almost hit us!" Complained Parker, then watched River wring the jacket tighly with her arms, afterward he extended his arms out to take the jacket. "It's fine already,"

"You would need it to dry it at home later," Mentioned River making Parker nod, watching the brunette adjust her left bang aside. "Thank you….,"

"Thank you….." Parker said along with River, which mirrored the boy's surprised face at the timing.

"It was bad luck. I just wanted it to at least be more dry, but you would really need to…."

"Oh I didn't mean the jacket, I meant about everything," Corrected Parker earning River's attention.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You know…..after Ethan couldn't always be here for me and let me copy his homework. You showed me, that learning could also be…...fun somehow. I admit it, it's difficult to confess this. But I really enjoyed to have your help in learning. If it wasn't for your help, I wouldn't have make it throught this semester. It's thanks to you, River, that I can take my education more serious, than I usually did,"

"I'm glad I could help you. I told you, we would get you up on top," Responded River with a smile, which the boy would mirror.

"You're an amazing person," Confessed Parker. "Anyone who doesn't see this is blind," The raven-haired mentioned making River wide her eyes surprised at the friend's compliment. Parker chuckled at her facial expression, then placed his hands on his jacket, which the girl had in her arms. "Out of all the girls in our grade, you're the most kindest and generous one. It's funny how it takes some people to notice, even me, who you know frequently hung out with groups of others…..." Parker continued making River roll her eyes up at the dark-green eyes of the dual citizen. River noticed on Parker's eyes redirected from the sky the flashing light lightening up the sky, making her sank her chin down while her eyes grew wider. A louder thunder orbited above the atmosphere, making River feel her throat parch out a little, while looking into the eyes of her friend. The girl sank her head down smiling abashed by the boy's comment, then had eye contact with him, which smiled gently at the girl and she replied at his sentence.

"I was glad to help you," Responded River still flustered about how she began to feel there around him. "I…...uh…..you're welcome," Added the brunette making the friend cackle, then place the jacket above his back and lifted his hand at the girl.

"So I see you tomorrow, then at the school. Right?" Questioned the raven-haired boy making River nod. "See you!"

"See you tomorrow," Added River moving herself through the door watching on the door Parker's reflection, followed by the lighting darting across the shadier sky, making River stop and stare at the image. River looked back at the boy heading past the gym, then River looked down at the ground feeling her cheeks turn pink, thereafter she moved her head up, while a peal of thunder cracked above the sky making Parker twitch his shoulders up in shock, then pulled the jacket above his head to run off making River chuckle at the scene. Moments later, she looked back into the building to see her mother get out of the elevator along with another journalist. River upon seeing her looked back at Parker, which was running, then placed her fingers inside her mouth to whistle, but the boy hadn't heard her. River observed the boy turn to the left, disappearing behind the gym, then River sighed a little enamored and her mother approached the girl to look out to see the rain, seemingly growing intense.

"Whoever's out there now in the rain without an umbrella sure is an unlucky bird," Commented Fiona, then looked at River gazing out with a dreamy smile. Fiona felt amused by her daughter's state, then she removed her long, coat and placed it above her daughter's back. "Come, the car's on the back," Commanded the mother, then accompanied the daughter under the small corridor, that held with the pillars the upper levels of the building shielding the duo from the rain.
