What you recognize I don't own. Tron is dead, Beck has known this since his fight against Rinzler which he barely survived due to Rinzler fighting like Tron. Beck hasn't told the rest of the resistance that Tron's dead though, and while he did use Tron's name briefly after almost derezzing he soon went back to using the Renegade name so as to allow the rest of the resistance the ability to act whenever he wasn't in the field, which wasn't as often after he almost died. Beck is about to receive a surprise though, something he's long given up hope on
Beck suddenly startled awake and brought out his disk when he heard someone enter the room he was in
"Beck, it's just me"
"Mara, what's going on?"
"First I need to know something, you were dreaming about your fight against Rinzler again when you almost got derezzed weren't you?"
"Yes"
"I see, listen...this may not be the greatest time then but...some of our people were searching for survivors near the sea when they came across someone coming out of it...Beck they think it's Rinzler, and that you're the best person to deal with him"
"I see...bring him here then"
"Understood"
Mara gives the orders to bring Rinzler to the base, and while he was waiting he thought back to what he'd been forced to do shortly after he'd survived the fight against Rinzler, in order to ensure that the group survived
After Rinzler fight
When Beck woke up he was surprised
"I'm...alive?"
"Yes, it was close, we found you only in the nick of time, but you're going to be fine, however..."
"What is it Zed?"
Zed sighs
"Your injuries will never fully heal Beck, you're going to carry the scars from your battle for the rest of your life and those scars will be painful"
"I'm not going to be able to go into the field often will I?"
"No, you won't"
"Then while I can I'm going to cause chaos, how much time do I have before my field duty will be limited?"
"I'm not sure, it could be 100 cycles or only 1, there's no way to predict it though"
"Understood"
Beck would go out as Tron for a brief period before the scars started to truly slow him down, which was only a month for the outside world. When he finally had to admit that he couldn't fight any longer he gathers the group
"Listen, as you already know now I'm the Renegade but with these injuries I can't go into the field very often anymore. As such I'm going to ask if you, the resistance want to become the Renegade in my place, fighting in the field while I can't"
Ultimately the entire resistance would agree to become the Renegade and when that happened Beck would figure out how to allow the group to derez the enemy when needed with their discs
"Beck...I don't know about this modification to our ID discs to derezz someone..."
"It's...not exactly easy I know, but unfortunately it's now necessary in order to survive what fights we'll have against Clu's soldiers, Rinzler...he might come after you guys whenever you're in the field and you'll need to truly fight against him, and hurt him to try and make it out alive"
"Then you teach us how to fight with our discs and then...then we derezz if absolutely necessary and only then"
"Very well, let's get started"
With that Beck started training the group to truly fight and derezz opponents at need though it wasn't easy to do
Present
As soon as the group was back at base Beck took on a persona that was very rarely seen by the resistance. He took out his disc and spoke in a harsh voice
"Rinzler, give me one good reason why I shouldn't derezz you here and now like you did him"
"Because I'm not Rinzler, not anymore"
"I don't believe it, no one comes back from what Clu does to them, no one, despite every effort I've made in the past"
"It's me Beck, I promise it's me, just look at my ID disc and through my memories as proof"
After a moments hesitation Beck sighs and then speaks up
"Everyone keep an eye on both of us, if this is a trap you're going to have to take me down and him as well more than likely"
And so Beck takes "Rinzler's" ID disk and then using a modification that only he had looked at "Rinzler's" memories in private, and saw everything including the fact that allowing Beck to live during his last fight against Rinzler cost Tron the last of his ability to fight against Clu's control for a long, long time. As the moments passed everyone got nervous but finally Beck took off the ID disc and then did something that shocked everyone, he went over to where "Rinzler" was being kept in a kneeling position, went to that same position and then hugged him while speaking up
"I thought I'd lost you"
"I know, and I'm sorry, why didn't you use my name Beck? I gave it to you for a reason"
"I did for a short while after I survived the fight against Rinzler which almost derezzed me, but that soon got to be too dangerous and the others with me couldn't act and were suspicious of my disappearances and so I brought back the name Renegade and made sure everyone had a chance to be that person in the field. Which was helpful since I never fully recovered from that fight and couldn't go into the field as often, though when they fought against you and I found out about it..."
"Beck, I'm so sorry I did that to you, and to the resistance, if I could have I..."
"I know, I know, what little you did manage to do allowed me to survive though, and it cost you greatly for that act of defiance"
"Yes, it did...Beck I don't know if I could...could be who I was again, if I can be what I'm meant to be, not after..."
"No Tron, you came back after being reprogrammed by Clu, maybe...maybe that might make things hard initially, with people knowing you were Rinzler, but it might be better for them to know the truth"
Suddenly Beck heard gasps and realized what he'd just revealed
"Um...sorry, didn't mean to reveal your identity without your permission"
"It's okay Beck, they should know the full story, that is...if you trust me again"
"Of course Tron, and you're the only Tron I will ever acknowledge, even if I temporarily took the name"
Over time the resistance got used to the fact that Tron was alive, and used to be Rinzler, someone reprogrammed by Clu to serve him no questions asked. They also rebuilt the grid over time and spread the word that Tron was actually alive, and they would, in time, reveal that Tron had been Rinzler due to Clu. Eventually peace was won and everyone understood that it wasn't Tron's fault he had been Rinzler and acted like they used to in regards to him. When Tron finally shut down for good, he had a small memorial service done and Beck finally took up the name Tron permanently per the request of a User in the outside world
