Several hours later, Marinette was at the cash register of the bakery waiting on the pickup order.

"Hm, I think the strap would be better in black," she said while working on a sketch. Suddenly, she heard the sound of the bell over the door ringing.

"Wel… come," said Marinette as she looked up and saw a familiar face standing before her.

"I figured I'd see you if I stopped by," said Adrien as he stood there smiling.

"A… Adrien?" asked Marinette while walking around the counter.

"Is it really you?" she asked, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at the blonde-haired boy.

"Sure is," said Adrien as he held his arms open to let Marinette run over to give him a hug.

"I missed you so much," said Marinette as she cried into the bend of his neck.

"Me too," said Adrien who was also crying.

"But what are you doing back in Paris and… your eye?" asked Marinette while breaking away from the hug to look at him with a shocked expression while noticing that his left eye had turned blue.

"I don't really know what happened to my eye, it had turned blue the night that I left," said Adrien.

"As for why I'm back, my mom passed away a few weeks ago," he said while looking down at the floor.

"What?" asked a shocked Marinette.

"Why didn't you call, I would have flown out," she said.

"Because my dad showed up and wouldn't let me contact anyone, he basically buried her without anyone even being there," said Adrien.

"He then brought me back here, but I managed to sneak away when the car stopped at a light to come see you," he said.

"Turned into a little bit of a rebel I see," said Marinette with a playful punch to his shoulder. Before another word could be said, the door opened again.

"Excuse me, I'm here for a pickup," said a woman who had walked in.

"Just a second, ma'am," said Marinette while heading behind the counter to get the cake.
