Hours later, after Madison was settled in, she exits her room and went down the stairs. She saw Nora still working on cleaning the house.
"Need any help, Nora?" she asked.
"Well..." Nora tried to think as she wasn't so sure for a moment, but knew that she needs a helping hand, "Sure, Madison. I was just about to sweep the leaves after I took off the sheets from the couches."
"Okay. You know you can call me Maddie. My family and friends do call me that." said Madison.
"Alright, Maddie. Why don't you help me sweep up the leaves?"
"Sure." she said as she grabbed a broom and starts sweeping.
Once Nora and Madison have finally swept up all of the leaves, the house looks so very spic and span.
"Nice. Looks really nice." said Madison as she looked around the room.
"Yeah. It looks a lot better, then it used to be." said Nora until she saw something out from the window. It was a bus, a school bus. "Looks like they're here."
"The kids?" Madison asked and Nora nod her head.
"I better go get the door & tell them."
Madison watched Nora go off and came to the door. She looked to see her open the door and there she saw them. Judy and Peter Shepherd.
"Welcome home, you two." said Nora but the kids didn't reply as they entered, "How was school?"
"We don't want to talk about it." Judy replied.
Peter remains silent until he spotted Madison in the living room.
"There's someone I want you to meet." said Nora as she walked in front of them.
She signaled Madison to come up for the kids to meet her.
"Who is she?" Judy asked.
"This is Madison. She's your new nanny." Nora answered.
"Our what?" Judy asked in shock.
"Nanny." she replied.
"Why do we need a nanny?"
"Judy!"
Judy stood silent as she heard her aunt's stern voice. Nora tries to remain calm as she took a deep breath.
"You and Peter know I can't stay in the house all the time while I'm at work. So that's the reason why I hired a nanny to help out. And I do want to behave nicely to her."
"Okay. Sorry." Judy sigh as she looked at Madison.
"It's alright." she answered.
"Now do any of you have homework?" Nora asked and the kids shook their heads no, "Honestly... Right, just go up to rooms, okay? I need to make dinner." she said.
The kids went up the stairs and Madison watched them go.
"Maddie why don't you help me out on the dinner?" she asked.
"Sure." Madison answered.
Hours later, after Madison helped Nora, Judy and Peter were already at the dining room waiting for their food to come. Madison came in, holding two plates for the two and set them on the table for the kids. She went back into the kitchen and came back as she grabbed her own plate.
As she set hers on the plate, Madison started to sit down on her chair until...
"Oh!" she yelped.
She looked down to see a pinecone on her chair. Madison looked at the kids to see that they were hiding their smiles and trying not to laugh. She picked up the pinecone and show it to them.
"Really nice welcome gift you gave kids. Really nice." she said and sat down on her chair.
Just then, Nora came in, holding a gravy dish in her hand but had a worried and concern look.
"l can't believe I have to see your principial after the first day. What am I gonna do?" she asked as she place the gravy dish down and looked at the kids.
The room was silent, and everyone looked at her but then she spoke...
"Well, let's just try to relax and finish our dinner and talk about something else." she said as she sat down.
"Well, we found out why you got this house so cheap. Twenty-six years ago, a kid named Alan Parrish used to live here. Then one day, he just disappeared. Cause his parents chopped him up in little pieces and hid him in the walls." said Judy.
Madison was about to eat but stopped as she heard what Judy just said and looked at her.
"Okay, that's it. I am sick and tired of your lies, young lady. You're grounded." said Nora as she spoke in a stern voice at her niece.
Judy got out of her chair in frustration and left the room.
"Fine. There's nowhere to go in this stupid town anyway. And just for your information, that wasn't a lie." she said and went up the stairs.
"Does she always lie?" Madison asked as she looked at Nora.
"All the time since my brother and his wife passed away. She also made up some story about their death." she answered and continued eating.
Madison looked at Peter, still at silence but still eating his food and then she continued hers.
Nighttime came, Madison was already in her pajamas and brushing her hair as she looked at her reflection until she heard banging. Madison looked at the door as if someone knocked on the door but that didn't sound like knocking. The banging still continues. Madison looked up at the ceiling and knew one thing. Jumanji was in the attic upstairs.
"Tomorrow must be it. The adventure with Jumanji." she said to herself.
Madison put her brush down at the dresser, turn the light off, and went to her bed. She got under the covers and try to get comfortable. In her mind, she knew that Judy and Peter have heard it in the scene. As Madison starts closing her eyes and try to sleep, the banging sound came back. She groaned and put a second pillow on top of her to keep from hearing the sounds.
