Judy and Peter slowly open the game and they were in awe as they saw the details of how the game was designed and made. Madison even spotted the two tokens that were on the board and knew who the players were.
"Let's bring it over here." said Judy.
Judy brought out an empty, crate box and place it to the floor while Peter put the game on top of the box. Madison sat beside Judy along with Peter. The young boy notices the tokens on the board and try to take them off, but they won't move.
"Weird, they're stuck." he said.
"Wonder why?" Madison wondered until she along with Peter heard Judy reading the directions on the side of the board.
"Jumanji. A game for those who seek to find a way to leave their worId behind. You roll the dice to move your token. Doubles get another turn. The first player to reach the end wins."
Peter found two more tokens from a slot. One was a crocodile, and the other was a monkey. As he got his hand closer to the board, the tokens move and landed on their starting squares.
"Freaky." said Madison.
"It's gotta be microchips or something." said Judy.
Peter brought out a pair of dice out of the slot and hand them to his sister.
"You go first." he said.
"Okay." said Judy.
Madison's heart started to pound as she watched Judy shaking the dice and rolled out of her hand.
"Six." said Judy.
The three looked at the crocodile token it moved by itself to six spaces.
"Look, there's something on the glass." said Madison.
The kids leaned forward and saw words on the glass and Judy read...
"A tiny bite can make you itch, make you sneeze, make you twitch."
Suddenly, Madison heard buzzing sounds and saw something in the shadows.
"Look out!" she cried out and Judy screamed.
The three ducked down as they saw three large mosquitos buzzing around them. Judy quickly grabbed a tennis racket and starts swinging at them. Madison stood close to Peter as she was protecting him while Judy kept on swinging until she hit one of the mosquitos and flew out of the broken window. The other two kept buzzing until they flew out of the window.
"Is everyone alright?" Madison asked.
"I'm alright." Peter answered as they both sit back up and Judy returned back to where she sat.
"You alright?" Madison asked in concern as she looked at Judy.
The girl nods her head in reply as she looked back at the window while Peter grabbed the dice and starts rolling.
"Don't!" Judy warned him but it was too late cause dice land on two.
Two ones which was a double. They all saw the monkey token move two spaces and words appear on the glass.
"This will not be an easy mission; monkeys slow the expedition." Peter read until all three heard a crash.
"Did you hear that?" Madison wondered.
"What is that?" Judy asked.
"Sounds like it's coming from the kitchen."
The three quickly got up and exit the attic while Peter grabbed the dice with him.
They quickly dash down the stairs and head towards the kitchen, but as Judy opened the door, the three looked in shock.
A bunch of monkeys were in the kitchen, causing mischief and making a mess. Madison have never seen such trouble like this before. Thinking that it would be impossible to shoo them away until she saw one of them holding a tomato.
"Take cover!" she cried out.
Judy closed the door as they took cover from a tomato. They opened the door again to see them until they saw another holding a bunch of knives.
"Watch out!" she cried again, and Judy closed the door again as the knives hit it.
All three looked at each and looked at the dice that Peter was holding. They stood in silent and quickly ran back upstairs.
"l bet those monkeys came from the game." said Judy as they enter the attic, "The mosquitoes too. Uh-oh."
"What is it?" Madison asked as all three sat back down.
"I didn't see this part." said Judy as she looked at the board.
She turned the game around and saw more instructions on the other side of the board.
"Adventurers beware..." she read until they heard another bang which sounds like a door slammed.
"Check outside, will you Peter?" Madison asked.
Peter got and head to the window while Judy continued reading.
"Adventurers beware. Do not begin unless you intend to finish. The exciting consequences
of the game will vanish only when a player has reached Jumanji and called out its name."
"The monkeys are gone." said Peter as he got back.
"Good."
"Gonna be a lot of cleaning in the kitchen to do." said Madison and Peter nod.
"Let's put it away." he said as he closed the board, but Judy stopped him.
"Wait! The instructions say if we finish the game, it'll all go away. We better do it, or Aunt Nora's gonna pitch a fit." she said.
"Otherwise, I'll get fired." said Madison.
"We should just get through it quickly. l mean there's no skill involved."
Peter held the dice and show it Judy as he thought it was her turn, but Judy shook her head.
"No, you rolled doubles. You get another turn. Roll!"
The boy starts rolling the dice and it land on a three and two.
"Five." he said, and his token moved five spaces. He saw the words on the glass and said, "His fangs are sharp. He likes your taste. Your party better move post haste."
"I don't like the sound of that." said Judy.
"Neither do I." said Madison until they heard some piano keys hit.
"Judy, Maddie, someone's in here." Peter whispered.
Suddenly, they heard the bang of piano keys and all three quickly stood up, looking at a direction. Madison's heart starts beating fast and they saw something in the shadow. It growled and it slowly moved into the light, for it was... a lion.
"Stay very still." Madison whispered to the kids.
"It's not real. It's a hallucination."
The lion roared at them and three starts running, exiting the attic and down the stairs.
"Run, kids! Run!" Madison yelled.
"Run, Peter!" Judy cried out.
The three quickly ran down as they were on the second floor, but the lion was behind them. It pounced and blocked them but it's pounce made Madison startled and tripped to the floor.
"Stay very still, kids! Stay very still!" said Madison as the lion was staring and growling at the children.
Suddenly, another shadow appeared, and it was a man. A jungle man with a knife. Judy and Peter were startled at the man and quickly hid somewhere behind him. Madison looked at the lion as it was slowly walking towards him. She slowly got up and quietly walked past the lion as it was still staring at the man.
The jungle man swinged his knife at the lion while it was trying to scratch him, but he ducked. He looked up at the chandelier as he thought of an idea. He dropped his and leapt to the chandelier while lion tries to pounce but miss and slipped on the rug, sliding to inside a bedroom. The man quickly got down and quickly shut the door for it to be trapped but saw its claws through the wood until they were gone.
Madison quickly hid somewhere as he was turning around. Don't know what's happening next but heard the children screamed as the man was opening the door but closed it again. Madison saw the man again as he was out. He didn't see her but went to another direction. She quickly got up and went to hall where the lion was. She opened the door beside her and saw where Peter and Judy were hiding.
"You two alright?" she asked, and kids nod their heads as they got out.
All three were in silent as they wondered where the man went but saw another door open from the distance. They came to the doorway and saw him holding a picture in his hand until he lifts his head up and looked at them.
"Somebody roll a five or an eight?" he asked.
"He did." Judy answered as she pointed at her brother.
The man burst out laughing and charge towards Peter. The girls moved out of the way, but Peter was running and screaming from him until the man caught and lift him up.
"Oh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you." he shouted as he hugged and spin Peter around until he gently put him down. "Sorry if l scared you. Sorry if I scared you. Thank you."
The girls quickly came to check on Peter while the man ran down the stairs yelling, "I'm back! Mom! Dad! I'm home! I'm back! It's me! lt's me, Alan, Mom and Dad!"
All three quickly went down the stairs to main room and saw the man running around shouting.
"I'm home! I'm back!" he shouted until he stops and looked at them.
"Are you my little sister?" he asked as he looked at Judy, but the girl shook her head.
"No. I'm Judy and he's Peter."
"And I'm Maddie. I'm their nanny." said Madison as he looked at him.
"Where's Mom? ls Dad at the factory?" the man asked as he smiled.
"Are you Alan Parrish?" Judy asked and he nodded his head.
"Yeah. Who are you?"
"We live here now."
The man who is Alan, his smiled slowly to fade and he looked confused.
"Where's my mom and dad?"
"We don't know. This house has been emptied for years. Everyone thought you were dead." Judy answered.
Alan looked much more confused as he moved back away and opened the door as he was exiting the house.
"Sorry." said Judy.
"Come on. We better check on him." said Madison and all three starts leaving.
