Out by the neighborhood, the group were almost to the mansion. Madison walked beside Alan and Sarah but looked back to see Judy holding Peter's furry hand, but the boy looked sad. Sarah did notice that too.
"Alan, talk to him. Please?" Sarah pleaded as she looked at him.
"What? We don't have time for this, okay?"
"l know, but he's a kid and he was trying to help."
"Please, just to him, Alan. He's only a boy." said Madison.
Alan looked back to see Peter and groaned.
"All right." he said as he handed the game to Sarah.
"Thank you. Judy, come on." she said, and Judy went towards Madison and Sarah while Alan stood beside Peter as they walked.
"l warned you about this, Peter. No, you wanted to play the game." said Alan as he was talking to him but then heard a monkey whimpering sound coming from him. Madison could hear them too.
"What, are you crying? You don't cry, all right? You keep your chin up. Come on, keep your chin up." he said but Peter was still crying. Alan stopped his track and looked at him, while the girls stopped and looked at the two.
"Crying never helped anybody do anything, okay? You have a problem; you face it like a man."
Peter still cries as he looks down and not facing him. Madison could see the guilted face on Alan's face. He leans down to face the monkey boy.
"Hey, hey, hey. I'm sorry. Twenty-six years, buried in the deepest, darkest jungle and l still became my father. It's okay. Come here. I'm sorry." he said softly as he hugged the boy, "Hey. It's all right. Remember what you told me? It's all right to be afraid."
"It's not that." said Peter and slowly shook his head.
"What is it?"
The monkey boy looked at Madison, Sarah, and Judy for a moment and looked back at Alan. He started to whisper something in his ear and Alan looked at him.
"Oh. Okay." he said and went behind Peter. He kneels down to get to Peter's level and had his hands on the boy's pants. "Ready?" he asked and then ripped the pants.
Madison watched and saw a tail coming out of his pants. 'Oh, Peter.' she thought to herself.
While everyone finally made it to the mansion, Alan looked at peter and said, "Don't worry. We're gonna have you turned back into your old self in no time flat. 'Cause we're gonna go in here, and together we're gonna sit down, we're gonna finish that game no matter... what."
Just as he opened the door, they all looked inside and couldn't believe what they saw. Vines, leaves, and trees were everywhere. Madison thought that it could be the work of the living vines back at the living room.
"Suddenly, l feel right at home." said Alan.
'I am so gonna be fired.' Madison thought to herself as she went in.
As they all went inside, Madison could feel the humid in the house like it was a jungle in there (no pun intended). She also felt a little warm and decided to take her brown jacket off. She was wearing a black tank but felt alright for her arms to be free from the heat.
The group stopped at a certain spot, and they all sat down as the game was set. Sarah looked around, feeling unsure.
"Shouldn't we play someplace else?" she asked.
"No. l grew up in this. It's out there that scares me." said Alan as he took his jacket off.
"Okay, it's my turn."
"Sarah," Judy spoke as she looked at the board, "If you roll a twelve, you win."
Everyone looked at her then at each other and then looked back at the board.
"Okay, ready? Here l go." Sarah starts rolling the dice and it land on three but not a twelve.
"It's okay." Alan spoke softly and then Sarah read:
"Every month at the quarter moon. there'll be a monsoon in your lagoon"
'Monsoon!' Madison's eyes grew wide as she remembers that part.
"Monsoon. Well, at least we're inside." said Sarah.
"Yeah, right." said Alan as he has his jacket on top of him.
Thunder boomed and lightning flashed. Madison looked up and saw dark clouds covering the ceiling. She quickly grabbed her jacket and covered her head. She even saw raindrops coming down on the game. Madison hates rain cause of getting wet on a count of good dry clothes she wears until it's now raining.
"Well, a little rain never hurt anybody." said Sarah as her hair was wet.
"Yeah, but a lot could kill you. Come on!" said Alan as he grabbed the game, "This way!"
As everyone followed everyone, Madison saw that the floor was now flooded. She felt the water going through her shoes and her socks were already drench.
"What do we do now?" Sarah asked.
"We get to higher ground!" Alan answered.
"Okay!"
"Come on! Stay together!"
All five got to the stairway, the water was going down like a waterfall, but the group starts climbing the stairway until...
"Guys watch out!" Madison yelled as everyone looked and saw a tidal wave pouring straight towards them. Madison tries to hold on tight to the rails, but the wave was too strong that it washed her and everyone out of the stairs.
Madison swam up and her head popped out to breath air while the rest were up and okay.
"You alright, Peter?" Alan asked.
"Everyone alright?" Madison asked until...
"Alan?" Sarah asked as she saw something.
"What?"
"What is that?"
Alan and Madison looked at to where Sarah saw and screamed. Crocodiles.
"Swim! Swim! Go! Go!" Alan cried out.
All five quickly swam, trying to get away from the crocs. Madison was too afraid to look back and hoping not to be eaten alive. Alan tried kept on swimming until he saw a table coming out of the water.
"Alan!" Sarah cried out.
"Swim! Go! Move!" Alan shouted.
They all climbed up to the table and tried to crawl.
"Keep going!" said Alan but everyone screamed as one of the crocodiles growled. "Get on the table! Peter, get out of the water!"
Just as everyone got on the table, one of the crocs was closer to the table and frightens everyone. Madison screamed even more that she kicked the crocodile with her foot.
"On the chandelier!" Alan shouted as he put Peter up on the chandelier and then Judy along with Madison and the game. "Come on, Sarah."
As Alan was about to get her, one of the crocodiles' head slammed the table like a catapult that got Alan on the chandelier. Sarah was sliding down and screamed as her feet were blocking from the croc's bite.
"Peter!" Judy cried out. Madison looked down and saw Peter sinking down. He fell when Alan got on the chandelier the hard way.
"Alan get him quick!" Madison cried out as she saw the other crocodile coming towards him.
Alan quickly grabbed Peter's tail and pulled him up out of the water before the croc gets him.
"Hang on Sarah!" he shouted as he saw her struggling against the croc. He jumped off the chandelier to the water and got on top of it.
"Sarah! Get on, quickly!" Madison shouted as she was still watching Alan wrestling with the crocodile.
As Sarah got onto the chandelier, she looked back and Alan wrestling.
"Alan! Alan!" they all cried out.
Madison continued to watch him go until something happened.
She looked up and saw the doors opened and the water was draining, going outside. She knew that Carl and Nora were at the doors and the water carried them away but saw Alan try to swim away from being drained.
"Alan, give me your hand!" said Sarah as she tried to reach.
"Alan!" Judy and Madison cried out.
"Grab my hand!" Peter shouted as he tried to reach. Alan tries to swim towards Peter.
"I got it!" he spoke but his wet hand kept him slipping from Peter's.
"Alan!" the boy cried out and Alan kept on swimming until he finally grabbed a hold of Peter's hand, and the crocodiles were drained away outside.
Madison watched as the water going down until it stopped but with little bit of water on the floor. Once it's safe, Alan brought Peter down and the game. He brought Judy down and then Madison.
"Thanks, Alan." she said to him. She sat down on a large tree trunk, took one shoe off and pour the water out. "I hate... getting wet in clothes." she said again as she took her sock off and then did it with her other shoe.
But she looked up and watched Alan bringing Sarah down until they stared at each other.
Madison along with kids were smiling at that moment. Wondering if they were going to kiss.
"Alan, you wrestled an alligator for me." she said softly to her. Alan chuckled but as she was about to kiss him, he stopped her.
"It's a crocodile." he corrected, "Alligators don't have that little fringe on their hind leg. Come on."
Madison shook her head, wishing that he could have let her kiss him. Madison got up from the trunk and catch up with the others. Heading back to the attic.
