Review Answers, Explanations, and Fun Things

Just for some info, Shirou normally wouldn't use UBW for something like this. His original plan was to use Carnewennan and Serenity's daggers (which are poisoned) to cripple the angels, then use Tauropolos and his black keys against everyone else. His body being injured from using Okita's technique. However, when Kuroka showed up, he decided to show her how strong he is when not holding back. Main reason being, he wants Kuroka to not have to worry about devils coming after them and forcibly taking Shirone. What he's doing, is showing Kuroka that he will go to any extent to keep them safe, even at the cost of his secrets and peace.

Shirou can use a degraded version of Mumyou Sandan-Zuki that isn't so taxing. This was his first time using the complete technique, nearly killing himself in the process. Needless to say, it will be like a NP for him. Something to use in a last resort, sure kill move. Also, I know a decent amount about the Nasuverse, but when it comes down to the technical things, like how the magic works (things like od, mana, I know a bit.), that is not one of my strong points. I will miss things or make errors, but some of it, is for easier storytelling for readers who aren't so deep into it lore. I'm basically mixing two universes so things will change. The way senjutsu in DxD is explained, is that it uses life force and turns it into a constant stream of energy.

It would be explained in a flashback later, but I'll explain a bit now. Kuroka and Shirone both thought Shirou was using senjutsu when they first saw him using his magecraft, especially since they can read life force. Kuroka would be Shirou's guide later to understanding a bit more about this, which also leads to him getting stronger. The life-force thing that Kuroka pointed out, was because what Shirou did was the equivalent of using a juggernaut drive for a human. He could live to a decade, but he damaged himself enough to shave off ten years. His circuits were fine, but his life force, or aura, that they can read was damaged.

He essentially forced himself to use a new variant of touki, but it didn't regenerate. Avalon would eventually heal it, but Kuroka doesn't know that. Shirou will find a way to mix the magic systems, especially since he still has Medea's grimoire to learn from. I will also say, his tracing items that aren't weapons, was because I saw archer create a jacket for Rin in Ubw and dematerialize it. So, I ran with it. It costs more, but Shirou doesn't need to worry about that since the mana is rich with true ether, Medea helped enhance his magic circuits, and he has the "Raiment of the Witch", his sleeve mystic code.

Shirou does have things in UBW that are his, which he can recreate better than everything else, being 99 percent accurate. He has a bag with him that has his personal items from home that he had when he landed in the DxD world. This contained the mystic codes Medea made him, his bible and grimoire, and a bunch of his black keys. Some of his mystic codes can only be used by him, such as his sleeve. Medea soaking it in his blood for days, jewels filled with his odd thrown in, and even mixed with a bit of his ground up bone to mix his origin in. This was all done with Avalon being in the bottom of the barrel she used to try and mix some of it's properties into the sleeve. The other clothing type mystic codes were created the same way. If someone tried using it, which will happen later when someone steals his stuff, the mystic code will invade their body, his origin reacting violently until the person in question turns into a pretty sword sculpture.

Also thought I'd point out the thing with Lint and him not wanting to kill freed. I mentioned that he didn't want to kill him because he looked like Lint, and Lint reminded him of Illya. It also has a lot to do with the fact that Shirou has a soft spot for homunculi. It will come up later and he will be very courteous with them and gets upset when they are referred to as anything less than human.

Shirou in his route was romantically involved with three people, Medea, Serenity, and Mordred. Serenity was just because he didn't die from her poison and she gets very clingy to people like that. Mordred was first, but after the HGW, Medea was the one who dragged him out of his depression. Yes, Medea managed to stay materialized, and from what we know of her personality, she won't stop looking for him, his body not being found and all(hehe, thought I'd separate them completely didn't you). Ciel and him did start to have the beginnings of a romantic relationship before he got transported out, Medea actually encouraging such a thing (anyone who guesses the real reason why gets a cookie) because she hadn't been able to incarnate completely. He did technically marry Illya before she passed away, since it was something she wanted and he loved her enough to go through with it (His true name being Shirou Emiya-Von Einzbern). She made him promise to have a big family, to be a hero, and to be happy. The rings on his necklace represent the girls (shards), that make up his heart. Illya being his one and only truest love, romantically and non-romantically. Hence the constant snowfall in UBW.

There will be an Omake at the end, followed by servant profiles that will be the characters of other stories I will be making. Let me know which one you like the most and I'll focus on that one. A prequel story about this HGW may be written if enough people want it.

Now, as always, on to the story.

Chapter 5

Snow was softly falling upon the swords that filled the world. It was constant and it appeared as if it would never stop. Strangely, when it landed upon the skin, it was warm and inviting, rather than cold and wet. The ground had pink petals that were scattered around intermittently. Purple butterflies, that seemed to be made of magic, could be seen floating and flying around a few specific weapons, and formed a ring around a certain hill of weapons. The few clouds in the sky could be seen producing crimson lightning that arced though the sky and down onto a certain sword, However, the sound was strangely pleasant.

A crescent blue moon hung high in the sky, strangely being bright enough to light up the entire world. Strange glittering blue stars that were shaped like crosses were hung high in the sky. The sight of this place would cause many of the more powerful beings of the world to turn green with envy. Yet, this world's king wasn't a god, angel, or even a devil. It belonged solely to a single human. A human, who was standing atop of a small, like a king waiting to give orders to his army. A sword planted into the ground before him, his hands resting up the pommel.

Three of the exorcists charged, two after Kuroka and to grab Shirone. One breath and they were each stabbed by blades of every make. Nothing fancy, just simple longswords. Their bodies pinned to the ground. Five more moved after them, their swords of light drawn, and just like those before them, their lives snuffed out like blowing out a candle. 'No, even blowing out a candle requires some action from the participant.' Kuroka thought to herself. 'He hasn't moved once, not even to acknowledge them moving. His eyes were locked firmly on the three angels across from him.

With no altar and the ritual cut off, all Asia was good for was a hostage. Yet, the two fallen who still seemed defiant didn't dare move against her. From what they were seeing from the exorcists who continued forward, it wouldn't end well for them. Sword, spear, dagger, there was no end to the weapons coming to slay those before them.

And, as if to mock them, not of the blades behind him were used. They were pure angels once, gods creations, just because they were fallen didn't mean they couldn't identify holy and demonic swords. Behind him, to the left, stood holy swords of all kinds and make, the same went for the right side and the demonic swords there.

Wave after wave, the exorcists fell, their blood soaking the ground, the pink petals floating atop the red pools. Kuroka noticed the swords to the right of Shirou were beginning to shake and shudder. Each one eager to to be drawn, wanting to join in on the bloodbath. The sounds of wind cutting apart and flesh being ripped stopped. Only the soft sound of the wind whistling could be heard, along with the faint rumbling of the lighting. The sound of blood dripping began to fill the air, as if it were a clock ticking down.

The remaining exorcists had stopped, each dropping their weapons and shaking or cowering. Some were even stepping backwards, wanting to run, yet, there was nowhere to run. "You two,..." Shirou spoke with a detached tone, his eyes cold and firm. For the first time since they appeared in this world, he moved, pointing towards the two angels beside the one in front of Asia. "If you both kneel, I will spare these exorcists and allow them to live."

Kuroka's eyes widened in surprise. That made no sense. What was he doing? She looked to where the two angels were, noticing that the short blonde one, with no hesitation dropped down. She looked back to Shirou and noticed his eyes soften for a moment before once again harden when he looked back at the remaining, unbent, fallen angel. Surprisingly, the blonde angel spoke up.

"Kalawarner, what are you doing?" A hint of anger seeped into her pleading tone. "Do it, if you don't, they'll all die!"

Kalawarner merely scoffed at her shorter companion. "Are you a fool Mittelt? He's going to kill us and them whether we kneel or not. I refuse to sully my pride by kneeling down to a human. These humans should be honored to die in service to us and Azazel." Despite the fear present in her body, she managed to retain her prideful voice. Mittelt only widened her eyes at Kalawarner's eyes, not understanding the reasoning.

"But, they'll all die? We were angels once!" Shirou raised his brow at the girls words. It was obvious she wasn't like the others. However, unlike the blonde former angel, he knew Kalawarner wouldn't change her mind.

"I wouldn't waste your breath girl. Your two partners are the type of people to sell out their friends if it meant saving their skin, that is, if they considered you there friend in the first place." Kalawarner's eyes narrowed at Shirou, trying her best to put up a brave front. Suddenly, a spear of light shot forward, directly at Shirou and Shirone. Shirou simply scoffed and lifted the Merodach out of the ground.

At the moment the sword was pulled, the demonic blades all shot out of the ground and raced forward. One black, sword of twisted metal intercepted the spear of light headed to Shirone, before turning and stabbing into an exorcist. The blade then began to turn red, drinking the blood of its victim, turning the body into a husk. Another sword, one that had one long red blade on top and one red short blade on the bottom, intercepted the one headed toward Shirou, before correcting course and attacking another exorcist.

During this, Shirou simply held Merodach above his head, "You're tainted spears of light will never reach me. Especially if they cannot stand against demonic blades. Let me show you what true light looks like." The sword in Shirou's hands began to shine with a bright light. "Sword of the first selection, the original foundation of the sacred right to select the king, let your light burn away those unworthy! Show them Judgement, Merodach!" Shirou swung the sword down, the ray of light following.

After the light dissipated, Kuroka gazed at what should have been the aftermath, only to see no bodies or blood on the ground. Only a straight line from where Shirou stood, extending outwards until it reached where the exorcists were. Kuroka was stunned, thinking that it was par with Excalibur. She idly wondered if he had anything else in his world that could maybe match Arthur's Collbrande. She shook her head and looked to where the angels stood stunned. Even Raynare was shocked, though it was obvious to Kuroka that she was seething inside.

Shirou planted Merodach back into the ground, using it to steady himself. Inwardly, he was surprised that Merodach managed to achieve such an output. While it was strong, Shirou used it for more symbolic purposes. Unlike a certain king of heroes, he didn't care much for the forgeries in his world, save for the ones he treasured. However, Merodach represented something important to him. It represented his connection to Saber. The wish he was able to grant to her before they were separated. To him, it acted as a key, one that unlocked a certain sword of crimson lightning.

He wanted to be worthy of using her sword. Red lightning shot out of the clouds and struck the ground in front of him, Clarent flying from the hill of treasures into the ground where the lightning had struck. He smiled as he reach his hand outwards, the first smile he had shown since attacking the church. Though he didn't notice, Kuroka was taking note of the sad, nostalgic emotion behind it. The red lightning arcing and embracing his hand as it gripped the handle. The memories of Saber would always be there, lying within the her sword. She used the sword to protect him, to punish any who tried to harm him, and kill all those that stood in the way of her new family. He would use it to do the same.

As he grabbed the handle, he remembered the moments before she dematerialized. He had traced Merodach, allowing it to sink into the ground. "Hey, master, why're you tracing another sword? We won, the fight's over. Unless you want a final spar before I leave," She said with a smile on her face. "but even if I'm low on mana and injured, don't think that'll give you an edge. I fight better injured after all."

Shirou let out a weak chuckle. His body shrieking at him to stop. "That's not it at all Saber. I just remembered that you had a wish you wanted granted." Mordred then had a puzzled look on her face.

"Well that's a funny thing to remember, considering we just destroyed the thing that could have granted it." She then schooled her features, her eyebrow slightly twitching. "Are you making fun of me, Master? Cuz if you are..." Shirou's eyes widened as he noticed her begin to crack her knuckles.

"Wait, no, I'm not! I swear!" He had his hands up placatingly, before noticing that she stopped, waiting for him to explain. He brought his fist to his mouth and cleared his throat. "It's just, when I was fighting Gilgamesh..." Mordred clicked her tongue in annoyance at the name drop. "he sort of fired off so many noble phantasms that I had a hard time sorting through them all. However, he pulled out a sword near the end, claiming that, while I didn't meet the qualifications of Ea, I did prove myself worthy of that sword." Shirou said motioning to the sword in the ground. Mordred quirked her brow.

"Okay? Is there a point to all that? If your trying to brag about defeating a second servant, you should just come out and say it. It is an impressive accomplishment after all." She let out a sigh, "Despite summoning me, your pride and confidence still needs some work."

This time, it was Shirou's turn to sigh. Despite the limited time they had left, they ended up falling into their same old routine. "The point I'm making, is that sword planted in the ground, is Merodach. The original sword of selection. It is the foundation for Caliburn." He noticed Mordred go still, her back straightening, and her eyes focusing intently on him. "I can't trace Caliburn, I haven't physically seen it. But I can trace this. I know it isn't Caliburn, but I thought that since its the original, wouldn't that make it better? Out of everyone else whose wish I helped grant within my means, you were the only one whose wish I wanted to make come true."

Mordred didn't say anything, she only turned away from Shirou and looked at the sword, staring at it intently. She then slowly walked forward until she was in front of the sword. She held her hand out to grip the sword, Shirou noticing that she was slightly trembling, but saying nothing. "Before this stupid Holy Grail War, I was certain that I would be able to pull the sword, but after everything that's happened, I'm not so sure anymore." She rested her hand on the handle of the blade, bringing the other hand to grasp it fully. "Hey Shirou,..."

Shirou immediately put his full attention on Mordred, as she rarely called him by his name. The fact she did caused Shirou to slowly walk over to her. Mordred, not turning to look at him continued. "do you think I can lift it?" Her voice trembled slightly as she softly spoke her words. Hearing it was jarring for Shirou. He didn't like hearing her voice like that. So, Shirou did the first thing that came to his mind.

"I don't think you can lift it Mordred." He spoke, standing right behind her. She winced at his words, before she flinched and completely straightened as Shirou wrapped his arms around her and overlaid his hands on hers, being careful not to touch the handle. "I know you can lift it." Admittedly, Shirou felt a little awkward about being so forward considering that was more Mordred's thing. Without and warning, he caused her to tug up on the sword. As soon as he felt her hands going through with the motion, he let go, not wanting to influence the sword in any way, though if he had to guess, he wouldn't be able to lift it anyway.

The next thing he saw, was Mordred lifting the sword up, staring at it in disbelief. Her face went through a whole storm of emotions. Though, the most prominent one, and the one that made him feel accomplishment, was happiness. A big smile plastered itself on her face, even as her eyes started to slightly mist up. "I did it!"

Shirou sadly noticed her body beginning to dematerialize, but before he could really focus on it, she dropped the sword unceremoniously and wrapping her arms around him. She then forcefully pulled his face down to hers with her strength, preventing Shirou from moving, and planting a kiss on lips, before immediately pushing him down. "You have granted one of my wishes Shirou,..." She said, her smile still lighting up her face. Shirou was still recovering his thought process when she continued, "my next wish is very simple. Become a hero." She leaned over and picked up Merodach from the ground and put the sword on both of his shoulders before planting it in the ground again. "You are now my knight, so you must heed my words. Become a hero and find me once you are."

She was nearly gone at this point, so she got closer to Shirou and put her hand on his face. "I'll be waiting patiently, so try not to die quickly while becoming one." She gave him one last smile, one that was seared into his memory. "And if you see my 'father' before me, kick his ass for me." And with those final words, she was gone. Shirou simply sat there, looking at where she had just been, before falling backwards onto the ground completely.

"Yeah, you always make it sound so simple." In Shirou's head, he imagined her saying something to the effect of, 'Cuz it is'. He let out a laugh, deciding that he'd wait until someone came and found him. He was pretty sure Mordred broke some of his bones just now.

He lifted Clarent out of the ground, sheathing Merodach in his belt. For the first time since he summoned Unlimited Blade Works, he moved. He walked forward, firmly, with his back straight and a hardened look on his face. "You, Mittelt, if you don't want to die, grab Asia and stand by Kuroka." His voice was filled with steel, the way he spoke left no room for doubt.

He was not just some teenager that had a powerful sacred gear. He wasn't someone Raynare could manipulate by putting on an innocent face. Nor was he someone who would balk at killing. Raynare could tell, the man before her and Kalawarner was a warrior, a hardened killer. For the first and last time in Raynare's life, she realized she had made a mistake. Not having anywhere to run to, knowing any begging she did would fall on deaf ears, and not knowing how long this world would last, Raynare did the only thing she could do.

She pushed Kalawarner forward, summoning a spear of light into her hand and thrusting it forward. Kalawarner was caught off guard by the sudden movement, but figured she had to fight if she had any chance of living. Based on what she saw, he needed the sword on his hip to telekinetically move the swords. He was using an altogether different sword now, so she figured she, at least, had a small chance. A sword emerged from the ground as soon as the thought finished, appearing behind her. The sound of broken glass was heard before a shriek was heard.

She turned around and saw Raynare with sword piercing her hand. All she could gather from it was that it was different from the others because of the guard with the Star of David in it. Oddly enough, another was piercing the ground underneath Raynare. She had no more time to think, she had to fight and worry about Raynare later. A light spear and light sword appeared in her hands. She darted forward, thrusting her spear. Shirou's eyes narrowed before he parried the blow and dodged the sword strike that followed it. Kalawarner shot out her wings to try and catch him off guard but it had the opposite effect.

Crimson lightning burst from the sword, covering Shirou. The wing that shot toward him was easily lopped off. Before Kalawarner could react to the missing appendage, Shirou kicked her leg out from underneath her, and twisted his upper body delivering a sharp elbow strike to her face, causing her to roll across the ground several feet away. She wanted to let out a scream, a yell, anything, but she knew there was no time. She had a moment to right herself.

She quickly flapped her wing, using the air pressure to lift her back to her feet. She quickly brought both her weapons up in an x pattern, managing to catch Clarent, but didn't see the wielder with it. Her eyes widened as she saw him leap forward with a single step, clearing the distance in a moment. Still in the air, and moving to fast for Kalawarner to react, Shirou brought his knee forward with full power, kicking Clarent directly through the light constructs and into her chest.

Kalawarner fell to her knees, blood coming from her mouth. She weakly managed to look down at the sword inside of her. She watched as he grabbed the handle, "For what it's worth, you managed to put up a better fight than the others in your race. Crimson Lightning." He spoke out the last two words in a command. Lightning arcing throughout her body, killing her. He pulled the sword and watched as her body hit the ground. With another stroke of his sword, he removed the last wing, before turning to face Raynare.

It was obvious from the look of fear on her face that she knew her death wouldn't be quick as Kalawarner's. She tried to move her body as best she could, struggling with all her might as he strode forward. "As a man who was knighted by someone who pulled out the sword of selection, I really should let you at least defend yourself." He spoke as if a bit disappointed. "However, considering what you were trying to do and who you tried to do it to, I'm sure she'll forgive me for this, if not, I'll probably just get her a cat."

"So, what do you think happened? Angels? Devils?" a man wearing a cloak with black short hair and a gruff voice asked. He looked upon the scene in front of him with a look of disappointment and disgust. Three fallen angels dead, one from a fast acting poison that liquified his insides. Then one looked to be killed in combat, though her wings were clipped. The one that really bothered him was the other body, unrecognizable, both wings clipped and de-feathered, and head placed on top of a sword. That's not mentioning the ex-exorcists turned pincushions. Not from arrows, but from swords of all things.

"Not a them, if this note is anything to go by. Though, I will say he has some flair for the dramatic, wonder where he learned it from." A man with black hair and golden bangs said as he held up a letter with red letters and a black quill. The other man came and grabbed the note and read it aloud.

"Unless you crows want to be turned into real fallen angels, I suggest you leave the holy maiden alone. Especially the one named Kokabiel. Otherwise, Tauropolos and I will hunt down all crows we see. Sincerely, Archer. P.S tell your men they aren't in a noir detective film." The man with the golden bangs snorted, before letting out a loud laugh.

Yes, Mordred is one of my favorite sabers, sue me.

Omake: Fate / Shirou's Apocrypha

Shirou heard sounds coming from the track field. He peaked around the corner to get a better look at whatever was happening. He saw a man with a red spear and blue spandex and a man wearing red confronting a man and woman. The woman had short red hair with white tips, wearing a white and blue outfit with a red cloth hanging from her belt, she was wielding a silver spear with a blue jewel in the middle of the blade. Standing beside her was a man with wild, short red hair, wearing a green tunic with black chest armor and brown pants with archer gloves. A dark red, slightly purple, cloak with fur lining the neck. On his back was a black bow, and in his hands were two daggers, one with a red blade and one with a yellow blade. Without any prompting, the pairs launched towards each other. The two spear uses attacking each other and the two dual wielders doing the same.

Archer was not having a good couple of days, first he was irregularly summoned and ended up flying through a roof. Then he finds out that the grail war had turned into a team sport. Now, he's here with lancer facing off against two unknown opponents, one looking strangely like a younger version of him, though he had some differences. He decided to test his opponent, to see if this 'archer', was any good with his daggers.

"Well, little lady, I am impressed with your skills. I wasn't expecting someone to be able to keep up with my current speed." Lancer spoke in his carefree attitude, however, he was watching closely. The girl was pretty good, better than he thought she would be. Not to mention that archer, when he realized his arrows wouldn't work with his divine protection, he put away his bow and took out two daggers, being proficient with them. At least he used a bow, unlike his partner.

"You're current speed is far from your best. Then again, neither is mine." She smirked at the blue lancer. "Truly, this would be troublesome if we kept this up too long, it seems my partner thinks the same." She motioned to her partner by moving tilting her head in his direction. "So, why don't we see if you can take my spear's mightiest attack?"

"Hmph, you took the words right out of my mouth!" Lancer positioned his spear in his hands, as if readying a mighty thrust, red magical energy building up. Likewise, the woman lancer readied her attack as well, however, she threw her lance high into the air, before it froze and pointed at him, what looked to be a bow forming out of the moonlight. Lancer's eyes slightly widened, before focusing on the girl, who took out a short sword and dagger.

The archers were battling evenly, both going for the openings available but always dodging right before anything made contact. To break the stalemate, the green archer smirked in a way too familiar way, then proceeded to attack again but this time his daggers burst to life with flames. Archer's eyes widened as he took on a more defensive stance. He knew he had to figure something out, before he decided on an inescapable attack. He was able to get in close before locking blades with his opponent, taking some burns in the process, before kicking him away and jumping back.

The green archer looked like he expected it, sheathing his daggers as he rolled back before spring boarding his way back to his feet. Archer called then threw his swords at him. The green archer's eyes narrowed, before calling an ornate longword whose guard was composed of a wing on one side and a normal half a U on the other, letting loose a blast of wind when called. A red jewel was embedded in the side. He called it into his hand, Archer now narrowing his eyes, 'not projection' he thought. Archer attempted to copy the weapon for information, but it seemed to be resisting him, just like the daggers and black bow before. The girl's spear was divine in origin so no dice there. He let out a mental sigh at all of that.

The green archer stabbed the sword into the ground beside him. "You got my back, Arifal?" The swords jewel brightening, letting out a small breeze in response. Archer quirked a brow out the interaction. A sentient weapon? "Arifal, Veda Verni." He spoke, pulling out his bow again and knocking an arrow. Archer through two more pairs of his swords only for them to be blown away by gusts of wind from the sword, it encompassing the green archer.

Archer clicked his tongue, before calling his bow, "I am the bone of my sword." A black sword of twisted metal emerged in his hand. Both Archers' magic power increased, Archer noting the winds from the blade being gathered at the tip of his arrow. Both pairs were reaching their climax when they heard a bucket getting kicked over. Lancer immediately stopped his attack, the girl's spear dropping from the sky into her hand. Even the archer in front of him removed his arrow.

Strangely, both the man and girl let out a tired sigh. The girl spoke first. "I know you want to go after him, so we'll pull back for now, right Tigre?" The archer in front of him clicked his tongue as if annoyed with the girl calling his name. He put his bow behind him before grabbing the sword.

"Sorry Arifal, maybe we'll get to show off next time." The sword let out another gust of wind, that deflected a sword thrown at him. He simply smiled as he summoned it's sheath and slung it onto his shoulder. "If Arifal doesn't want you to hit me, then you won't, unless you feel like launching a Noble Phantasm that is." He let out a whistle, a girls shriek was heard as a light blue dragon the sight of small dog came flying out from behind a tree. He shot Archer a smile. "See ya around, Archer, tell Rin Lunie isn't a mean dragon." The man then dematerialized, the girl shrugged and let out a sigh, tying the spear to her back with a blue cloth that was used as its grip. Before giving an awkward wave, and dematerializing as well.

That ends the Omake/maybe teaser. Now Servant profiles. Base stats, I can answer what NP they would have at the end of next chapter.

Thats all folks. Let me know what you think and which you'd like to see be written. I have a rough outline for each one. Also, Rider Shirou is based on a future part of this story.
