AN: An idea of what Elias and Hetty were like during a typical day. Inspired by Hetty saying in Vault that she and Elias hadn't been good people. Unbeated, so I'm sorry for all errors.

The man with the white hair and salt and pepper mustache came striding into the house.

His dark suit had no wrinkles whatsoever.

Hetty lowered her eyes to the ground, all husbands expected complete obedience from their wives. The kids, four sons and two daughters were upstairs making themselves presentable for the dinner that would soon be served.

It was the way of the world after all.

Elias approached her, "Hello, wife, you may look upon me."

Hetty slowly raised her eyes, "Hello, my husband how was your day?"

"The mill situation has been taken care of, those ungrateful workers will definitely think twice about trying to form a union from now on."

"I would expect nothing less of you Elias, your timing is also impeccable, dinner shall be ready in an hour."

"That's wonderful, at least you know how to keep a home unlike that Margaret woman."

"She's just far too busy being jealous of me."

"I keep telling you your ankles are always better than hers."

"Yes and I adore you for it."

"Did you invite Helena James over?" Elias asked.

Helena James had a husband named Jon who was trying to keep a land deal between Elias and someone else from going through.

"Yes and he's having an affair with the wife of his own lawyer, also he has an illegitimate child with emotional issues and is in an "special place." Also his sister is having an affair with her lowly gardener and needless to say her husband would very much be wondering if its child if he were to find out."

Elias grinned and twirled his mustache, "He would definitely want to make sure all of this never got, I got him right where I want him. So out of curiosity what does she want from you?"

"Nothing that will get in your way, just have to help her find her footing in high society, introduce her to the right people..."

"Utterly boring. " Elias mumbled losing interest rapidly.

"My female brain sometimes doesn't know when to stop." Hetty lowered her eyes in practiced deference.

"I forgive you, you and I are perfect for humiliating and destroying who gets in our way, or when we just need amusement."

"You taught me very well Elias."

"Yes." Elias snapped his fingers and a servant brought a package.

The servant handed it to Hetty and she opened it, it was a green dress with a flowing skirt, little buttons on the front of it.

"Oh Elias thank you."

"Wear it for dinner." It wasn't a request.

Hetty nodded and went up the stairs and to her bedroom.

Many times throughout her life she would get the feeling she wasn't alone. It would come when she was completely alone, or even with others and they weren't staring at her, she felt like she had company in the room with her.

She shook it off and let her lady servants dress her and then went to join Elias and their six children for dinner.
