It's a Goode Reunion
"Fuck, I can't believe it's been 10 years since we last saw eachother, how ya dooing man"
The man who spoke wore black trousers and a black shirt with a single red tie, loosely hanging around his neck, a small glass of wine resting in his hand. He was Markus, a 28 year old man with no real accomplishments to speak of. He worked as a clerk at a local store and had been suspended several times by his boss for bad behaviour.
Across from him was another man the same age as him wearing a very similar suit but with the colours on the tie and suit inverted. The man had classes on and ruffle hair that was both messy yet oddly charming at the same time, his name was Noah "I'm doing great, Life in Scotland is great. Clumsy old me doesn't have to worry about massive hospital bills anymore! But god you're right, I can't believe it's been that long already. You should've come over and visited Mark some time, Mark."
Markus rolled his eyes at his friend "I like staying in a country where I'm free Noah." Noah shook his head disappointed that his friend had fallen so far down the American Propaganda shit hole.
Deciding to move away from the topic he asked "So have you been in contact with Percy recently?"
Markus shook his head, he hadn't really seen anybody from their highschool since they had gotten their diplomas. Especially not Percy who seemed to drop off the face of the Earth entirely afterwards. "No, I don't even think I actually had his number in our last year."
Noah chuckled "Don't forget he didn't even have a phone until our final year and he claimed that it was just for contacting his mom."
A smile crept onto Markus's face and just as he was about to ask Noah, a young Woman with Black hair popped up right in front of his face "ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT PERCY!"
Both Markus and Noah jumped back in fright as a young woman wearing a sea-green dress popped up in front of them, she was Kate, the 3rd member of their little High School group who neither of them had been in contact with for years. Noah just started to laugh "So your ears still burn red whenever someone mentions him. That's Brilliant. Never change Kate."
She just stuck her tongue out at him "I haven't seen him in 10 years; that's all. After he left, we all kinda went our separate ways." Markus stared at the ground, she was right. It was him leaving that had pulled the group away, he was the reason that Noah was in some lesser country instead of the US of A, While Kate was a tech girl hidden away in her office all the time."
Noah on the other hand just rolled his eyes again, he knew Percy didn't have anything to do with them falling apart. Even 10 years ago they were completely different people. Hell Percy only hung out with them at the time because he felt bad, not that Noah minded. Percy was a great guy. But if the other two expected them to stay together after that. They truly were delusional.
"So do you think he will be here tonight?" He raised the question, while taking a sip from his drink."
Kate grinend and looked up at her two former friends "Oh I'm almost certain. He accepted the invite. I can't wait to see him! I'm finally going to tell him how I feel, and we will start dating and then things can go back to the way they were, the two of us will then have three kids. 2 sons and a daughter."
Noah raised his hand, telling her to stop before rubbing his tired brow, "Okay before you get a hold of yerself, have you considered the many questions of the fact that, He had a girlfriend last time any of us saw him, he was talking of proposing to her, He showed no romantic interest in you and that he had already turned you down before."
His friend huffed, raising her arms to her chest "Do you really think he would still be dating THAT Bitch after 10 years. Nah they have definitely broken up. I can feel it in my heart."
Deciding to intervene before things got heated between his friends, aMarkus said "Yo guys, chill out. Noah, Kate is right, the likelihood of Percy still dating that chick from 10 years ago is unlikely. Nobody from High school is still together. Kate, Noah is also right, he never showed any interest in you and You're getting ahead of yourself."
Markus scrunched up his face, that felt very weird for him to say. Normally it was Noah who said those things.
His two friends calmed down a bit and he relaxed slightly, thank god they weren't going to be at each other's necks the entire time. The entire room suddenly went quiet as muttering was heard from through the door, everyone else had already arrived so there was only one person left that it could be. The man that most of them were talking about; Perseus Jackson.
The doors to the gym hall opened up with a creek revealing the lights of the rest of the school. Standing there were two people dressed very smartly, Perseus Jackson and Rachel Dare.
The two of them enter the hall and the doors close shut; almost immediately everyone starts talking between themselves again. The three of them however continued to study the new pair, with Noah muttering "Fuck he's gotten old." Noah was right after all, their old friend looked much older than when they had last seen him. His hair was much longer and was like Salt and Pepper thrown up over him; he actually looked like his step-dad. His Eyes were dull with Bags under them and the scars on his face stood out through the tan.
Rachel Elizibeth Dare didn't look much better, her eyes were shallow and her red hair had faded slightly, with a single long streak going from the front all the way to the back. She wore a pair of multicolour glasses but even those looked dull. To put it simply, they looked exhausted.
The two of them looked around before looking at each other, Percy said something to her and she kissed his cheek before leaving to do something elsewhere in the hall.
He scrunched up his face and made his way further into the room, looking rather awkward. Before either Markus or Noah could stop her, Kage was already sliding up in front of Percy before jumping up in front of him, arms wide "Percy!"
He jumped back and yelled "Agh!" Noah and Markus groaned, storming over to their friends just in time to hear Percy say "Um…hi…Kate is it?" She nodded seemingly glad that Percy somewhat remembered her. The Two men reached them and said "Sup." He glanced at them for a few seconds, the gears in his head slowly twisting before painting at the two of them "Noah and Mark right? No wait your Mark and your Noah" Noah smiled "That's right, it's been a while Jackson."
Percy smiled slightly "it has hasn't it, it's been a long 10 years. Anyway how have you all been keeping, How's work, are you guys seeing anyone." The three of them discussed their lives with him for a few minutes until Kate said "So Perce, are you seeing anyone right now?"
A smile broke out on his face that worried Kate and he lifted his hand up "Married actually, for nearly 8 years now. The two of us couldn't be happier."
Kate scrunched her face up "Who to?" He looked around and his smile got bigger as Rachel dare returned, two glasses of Pop in her hand, she handed one over to him and kissed him on the cheek "Erm guy's, I think you met her before school ended but this is my Wife, Rachel Elziabeth Dare-Jackson."
She stuck her hand out for them to shake which both Mark and Noah happily did. Kate on the other hand seemed hesitant at first before grabbing her hand tightly and giving Rachel a sickly sweet smile which made Rachel raise her eyebrows slightly.
Noah, noticing this, decided to move things on before Kate caused a scene "The two of you look both really tired, are you okay?" The two of them looked between themselves and laughed, Rachel responded through the laughing "oh yeah, we've both been really busy with work recently and it's such a long drive to get here. America has such a poor train network compared to the rest of the world."
Noah laughed, "You can say that again." Markus then coughed and asked "So where are you guys working and living?" Percy went first "Oh we live in San Francisco. We're both Teachers, I teach Marine Biology and I'm also a swim Coach, And I help out at my old uni, Rachel here is the art and drama teacher, and runs a drama studio." The three of them widened their eyes "Holy hell do you guys have any time to yourselves.£
The two of them looked between themselves "Yeah Actually. It sounds chaotic but we make it work, we have a schedule. It's actually perfect…until you factor in massive car rides across the country."
Kate jumped in and asked "YOu live in San Fran…but what about your mum and sister? Don't you miss them?"
Rachel smiled "We would…but they and Paul moved across about 7 years ago now. They live a 5 minutes walk away from us. It's great"
You could feel the anger coming from Kate when suddenly Percy's phone started ringing from his pocket. He pulled it out and looked at it and without looking up he said "It's Annebth, that's odd. Be back in a minute." Before taking the call. However as he was leaving the three of them saw a large red scar going up his neck.
Mark twisted his head and asked the red headed artist "Is Percy alright? He looks like he's got a scar." Rachel immediately reached for the back of her own neck "Yeah he fine, He just fell over in the tattoo shop that we go to recently and had to get some stitches. It's healing but it's still there."
Mark and Noah both accepted that but Kate didn't and narrowed her eyes, she was certain something bigger was going on. Just as she was about to raise her concerns, Percy arrived and said "Rach, we need to go." She turned to face him and asked "Why?" His eyes were dark but he said "Selina, she's ill. Will's looking after her but he's worried." Her eyes widened and she said "I'll start the car." Before grabbing Percy's glass and putting them on the tab;e, ripping the bottom of her dress and running out of the room.
Noah put a hand on Percy's shoulder "Hey man, are you okay. You look worried. Who's Selina?"
Percy rubbed his wrist and said "My eldest daughter, she had a cold when we left her but it seems to have gotten worse. Look I'm sorry we couldn't catch up more guys; but I have to go."
He was just about to turn and follow his wife when Kate grabbed his wrist and said "Hey Perce, how about when your daughter's feeling better you come back over and the two of us go on a date, get married and I raise your kids as their mom instead of that Bitch." A Spark ignited in Percy's eyes that all three of them recognized all too well. The Spark of the storm.
Percy's muscles tightened and he said oddly calm "Get your hands the Hades off me. I have never been interested in you, I never will be Interested in you. I am happily Married with 2 Kids and a 3rd on the way. Back off" Kate's hands just fell off him, flopping to her side. Percy stormed out of the room. For Kate and Mark that was the last time that they ever saw Percy and Rachel Jackson.
But for Noah, almost 10 years later, his own daughter would become pen pals with Selina Jackson and the two old school friends would meet once more.
