Prompt 15: Famous

Just Keep Waiting

"Korraaaa, please please pleasepleaseplease!" Opal begs, hiding in the corner of her office while rubbing her hands together, even though Korra couldn't see her over the phone. "I'm begging you please go in my placeee!"

Letting out a heavy groan, Korra had a blank face. "You know I couldn't care less for autograph sessions."

"Korra please! Go for meeee, a last-minute mess up came up and I can't leave until it's fixed! I'll buy you something nice!"

"You do realize I'd have to haul ass to the convention center right?" She deadpans awkwardly wiping down her body while grumbling. "Here I was wondering what you were spamming my phone with while I was showering. I figured someone died with your persistence."

"I'll buy you dinner too! No, for a week!"

"Opal, I finished a long workout session with my client. I'm sore as shit and still really wet. I don't wanna wait in a long ass line for nothing."

"You can forget about my Christmas gift! Please, I really want that special edition autograph from Asami Sato! You know she's my only gay crush!"

Korra shoved her phone between her neck and shoulder before struggling to slide her boxer panties on. "Won't there be an issue with tickets? It's under your name isn't it?"

"It is but I'll figure something out! Pleaseeee! You gotta go!" She practically cried over the phone, "I was even lucky enough to win a premium meet and greet slot with herrrr!" She literally was crying at this point.

"Urgh…. okay okay fine. I'll go but you owe me more than a gift and dinner for a week."

"Yes! I love you I love you I love you! You're the best Korra!"

"Yeah yeah yeah, just shut up and send me the info already."

It had probably been about two hours since Korra reached this convention center. Parking was an ass. Luckily she rode a motorcycle so it wasn't too bad but still shit nonetheless. After that, she had to ask around to find the damned end of the line. After that, she waited and waited and waited to the point her hair had long dried off completely by the time she reached the front. The first word that came out of the employee's mouth made her hate her impending doom.

"Confirmation?"

Nervously pulling out her phone, Korra showed her the email.

"And your ID."

Shit. She reluctantly pulled up her wallet. "About that… I'm actually here on behalf of my friend…"

The staff member gave her a squared look before looking at the ID and information from the email. He then shook his head before stating, "I'm sorry but I can't let you in if it doesn't match. We have rules we have to follow."

Korra's lips thinned out. "Can you please make an exception pal? My friend sent me an email and everything too…" She then pulled out the email to show proof that Opal had given Korra her slot.

He continued to shake his head. "I'm sorry but the rules are rules."

"In that case, let me make a call…" awkwardly clearing her throat, Korra dialed Opal's number which she quickly picked up.

"How'd it go?!"

"Obviously not well you dingus!" Korra angrily whispered into her phone. "I told you this wasn't gonna work!"

"Let me talk to him."

"What?! You insane, it's not gonna work."

"Korra. Let. Me. Talk. To. Him."

Groaning again, Korra gave him an awkward grin before passing along her phone. Thankfully, he was kind enough to understand and talk to her.

"Hello?"

From that point, Korra didn't know what she was saying but was vaguely aware of what Opal was probably arguing. She honestly didn't think it would work but to her surprise, it apparently did.

"Alright, you're free to go in." He duly stated before handing Korra her phone.

"What?" Korra asked, "Really?"

He just nodded with a tired face. "Go on in."

"Huh… okay…?" Korra accepts the ticket before slowly walking in, "Uh… thanks for the hard work."

He only gruffed back.

"... poor guy."

Letting out a sigh, Korra spaced out as she stared into space. Her mind was blank. Well actually… that was a lie. She was thinking about what the heck she was gonna eat for dinner today when she got home if she was gonna get home that is. She hadn't kept track of time and she didn't want to because, at this rate, she was gonna grow mushrooms out of her head.

Did meet and greets always take this long?

If they did, that would seriously suck ass. Who the hell had that much free time on their hands to wait in a long ass, shitty line with a bunch of people to just meet a person? Not Korra. No way in hell she'd choose to partake in such torture without even music and food. Was she hangry? No. Of course not. Course not…

With an audible gruff, Korra cracked her neck before attempting to glance at the front of the line. For this so-called "premium ticket" you'd think there wouldn't be one but alas, she was wrong. After that, she started wiggling her body as she stood in one place. Her back was finally starting to get stiff and she starting to get restless. She wasn't meant for these types of events really. Cracking her wrist and fingers, she was about to relieve all the joints in her body before the line finally budged.

Many, many, many, minutes passed by before finally, progress. Korra could tell she was at the home stretch now but of course, more waiting. She was honestly so close yet so damn far away from her target. The rest of her waiting time was spent on how to grill Opal later for the torment she was forced to endure.

She began counting down the last few people in front of her. Ten, nine… five, four… two… one. She was finally the next person in line. A little rush of excitement passed through her body and she was ready. Ready to go in and then go out. So she can finally eat. Alas, bless the lords before they called the next person in line, aka, Korra. By reflex, Korra cracks her next before heading inside. Her gaze was hung low and it wasn't until the voice spoke up that she looked up.

"Hey, it's nice to meet you Miss…?"

Korra blinked before taking the cue, "Korra."

"Korra," she repeated with a smile. "Go ahead and take a seat. How have you been today? I hope the wait wasn't too bad?"

"..." Oh how much Korra wanted to lash out at this person. Tell her about her pain and the long ass line she had to wait too but… she was better than that. It wasn't her fault technically but it also was. That's why the best she could muster was a monotone, "It was alright."

The celebrity blinked before tilting her head slightly. "..."

Korra just returned an equally blank face. "..."

She cleared her throat before expanding, "So, I guess you came here in a rush or something?"

"Pardon?"

"Sorry, it's just… your outfit. Everyone that came before you was either wearing something nice or comfy. You look… like you just came out of a gym." She then gestures at Korra's attire, eyes narrowing at certain spots of her body.

Korra was hardly wearing any clothes. She was just sporting some running black sneakers, tight dual-toned black and grey gym shorts that landed just above her knee, a navy blue tank top that exposed most of her side, and a grey sports bra.

"Ah… yeah, guess I did."

This time, the celebrity raised an eyebrow at her bodyguard/assistant. They shared this silent conversation before they urged her to continue.

"Right, anyways let me hand you your goodie bag!" She then reached over under the table and grabbed a pack. After that, she pulled out a blank signature card before asking, "To confirm, who can I sign it to?"

Korra hummed in relief. "To Opal please."

"Right to Kor… huh?" She blinked before pausing for a second. "To Opal?"

She nodded back. "Mmh? Ah, I'm actually here for a friend. Something came up last minute so she couldn't come."

"Oh?" She then gigged slightly, "You're a good friend then aren't you?"

"I guess so," Korra sighed before leaning back in the chair. "I don't care much for these types of events. To be honest, I don't really know who you even are."

That makes the celebrity flinch. "Eh? You've really never heard of me before? Sorry, I don't wanna be shallow or narcissistic but usually, most people have at least heard of me."

"Nope."

Their lips parted slightly, "Do you even know my name?"

"Mmh…" Korra looked up to the ceiling to think about it. "Asa… Asamay? No, uh… Asahi? Ah no that's the drink Asa…mi something?"

She had a blank look on her face. "Asami Sato."

"Ah yeah, there you go."

Asami let out a dry laugh. "So you've really never heard of me?"

"Not really."

"You don't even recognize me?"

"I mean… I guess you look familiar but at the same time not really."

An eyebrow twitched before Asami sweetly asked.

"What about the movie, In Plain Sight?"

"Nope."

"Then how about the weekly RC Fashion catalog?"

"Nope."

"Not even my voice in the Final Fantasy VII game?"

"Nope."

"Huh…" Amused by this prospect, Asami couldn't help but ask. "Sorry, if you don't mind me asking… what do you do for a living then? People usually… know of me you know. I'm not used to people not knowing so you have me surprised…"

"Mmh, well I'm a personal trainer. Honestly, most of my time is spent in the gym, and after that… I do a lot of self-care like cooking, meditating, and reading."

Asami smiled at that. "I can see that," her eyes scanned Korra's body again and they lingered at her arm and side. "What gym do you work for? Maybe I've heard of it since I've been around and have done a lot."

"The White Lotus Dojo, right near Avatar Park."

"Ahh… on second thought, I don't think I heard of it before actually."

Blinking at that statement, Korra reached into her belongings before pulling out a business card. "Here, we may be fairly new but we're just as great, if not, better than others. We provide much more than fitness such as health care and nutritional advice."

Humming at her confidence, Asami smiled while accepting the card. "I'll keep that in mind if I need a trainer then."

Korra gave her a bright smile in return. "Sure, I'll be waiting then. If you got a goal, let me know and I can come up with a detailed routine and nutritionary plan for you."

"I'll look forward to it then." Asami smiles one last time before finally signing her name on the card. She makes it out for Opal before handing it to Korra. "Alright, that should do it for you."

"Thanks," she was quick to stand up before Asami cut her off.

"Oh, wait! You still get a photo with me."

Korra looks at Asami before looking off to the side. It'd be rude to say no. "Sure I guess."

They stood up and walked over to the backdrop and once standing side by side, Korra looks up to face Asami. "Damn, you're taller than me."

Amused by that comment, Asami looked down at Korra and smiled at her. "Thanks, I guess?"

Korra's lips pursed accidentally. She didn't mean to say that but it escaped her lips. She simply laughed it off with a charming smile. "You're welcome."

The photographer finally caught their attention and they posed for a picture. One bright flash later, they parted from each other's close proximity. Sure enough, Korra was handed the film and Asami offered her hand for a shake before Korra could walk off.

"It was a pleasure meeting you once again, Korra."

Korra gives her a warm smile. "Same I guess."

They gave each other this last soft smile before going on with their ways. Once Asami was seated back in her spot, she leaned back in her chair to whisper to her assistant.

"Kuvy, can you see if there is an action film in the making."

Kuvira raised an eyebrow, "I thought you were staying away from action-orientated films for now?"

Asami smiled at the recollection of Korra's toned backside. "I changed my mind…" she then looked down at the business card in her hand. "I want a role where I would need a personal trainer."

Glancing off in the direction where Korra had just left, Kuvira sighed. "Ah… got it."

Smiling again, Asami fiddled with the card in her hand before bringing it up to her lips. "I'll be looking forward to it then."
