Jack's POV
North had just finished telling me about his center and how I would need to find mine as does Rebecca. We were about to re-join the others when Rebecca came from the shadows wrapping my hoodie tightly in her fists as she silently sobs in my shoulder. Once she's calm I ask her what upset her that way. She told me that she informed the other guardians about her recent death.
Next thing we know Bunny is telling us that there's trouble at the Tooth Palace. At these words Rebecca becomes Shadow and we rush out.
"North, I told you! I'm not going with you guys! There is no way I am climbing into some rickety old... sleigh..." I say as Rebecca rushes forward in determination and excitement. But upon seeing said "rickety old sleigh" I gives in "Okay. One ride, but that's it." Rebecca smirks over at him as she jumps in next to Sandy.
North smiles in satisfaction "Everyone loves the sleigh! ... Bunny! What are you waiting for?"
Bunny looks unsure "I think my tunnels might be faster, mate [he kicks the side of sled gently with the pad of a hind leg] and, uhm, and safer."
North becomes irritated "Ack! Get in. [Yanks Bunny by his scruff.] Buckle up!"
Bunny panics "Woah woah! Where're the bloody seatbelts?"
" Hah! That was just expression. Are we ready? Let's go!" North cracks the reins causing Bunny to howl in fear while Rebecca whoops in joy and I chuckle in delight. "Out of the way!" North orders to the yetis and elves.
" I hope you like the loop-de-loops!" North calls back to us
Bunny mutters "I hope you like carrots."
During their exchange Rebecca and I perch ourselves on the back of the sleigh where I decide to have a little fun. I laugh enthusiastically while Bunny moans "Hey Bunny, check out this view- Woah!" I'm blown off the sleigh and lay on the runners
Bunny leans over worrying "Oh! Oh- North! He's, he- huhuh.."
"Aww, you do care." I look up at him smugly as Rebecca laughs her head off at him pulling me back up.
Bunny becomes flustered "Oh, rack off, ya bloody showpony!"
" Hold on everyone, I know a shortcut!"
Bunny looks like he's about to throw up "Oh! Oh strewth! I knew we should have taken the tunnels." North opens a portal and we come out at the Tooth Palace.
Rebecca's POV
We come out of the portal and are met with nightmares each carrying tooth fairies and teeth. I share a look with Jack and together we both leap into the air Jack clutches his hands landing back with the others, I hear him ask "Are you okay Baby Tooth?" but I'm to focused on my powers. I concentrate, picturing the nightmares becoming a shapeless pile of sand in my hands then I wave them in a delicate pattern. I open my eyes to see that in my hands is a pile of pale blue dust instead of black sand. As I land I feel the shocked faces of the others and about 20 tooth fairies and some teeth. I slump against Jack's side slightly exhausted from using my powers. "Wow, Shadow." Jack whispers "That was amazing... Can I see?" he points to the dust, I nod. I watch Jack pinch and swirl the dust then I notice Sandy looking at it interested so I move the dust towards him smiling to tell him he can look at it.
We land with a bump since Jack was driving. I quickly stuff the dust in my pocket hiding it away for later. We see Tooth in a complete panic but then she sees baby tooth "At least one of you is alright." I interrupted her "Actually a few of them are. Along with these." I hold up the teeth and motion the fairies out of hiding. "Oh thank you. Thank you." Tooth hugs me tightly, I tense having only ever hugged Jack, Tooth takes her teeth. Then I feel it, something is lurking in the shadows. I stand closer to Jack ready to protect him by all means. Then he revels himself... Pitch Black. The booegey man. I growl.
" I have to say... this is very, very exciting. The Big Four, all in one place. I'm a little starstruck. Did you like my show on the globe, North? Gotcha all together, didn't I?" He asks happily. I don't pay attention after this till he talks to Jack. " Hang on. Is that... Jack Frost? Heh, hehehe. Since when are you all so chummy?"
"We're not." Jack says cautiously, moving his staff into a move defensive position as I move to stand in front of him.
"Oh good, a neutral party. Then I'm going to ignore you, but you must be used to that by now." Pitch taunts Jack. Even though we've known each other I know it's still a touchy subject for him yet it hurts knowing I didn't make much difference to him. I stop listening again lost in my thoughts and feelings.
I feel pitch vanish into the shadows. The guardians and Jack dive after him but I know he's gone however I jump after them and land a couple of moments later. Jack apologies to Tooth about the fairies and he finds out about his memories. "I thought that was just Rebecca. I was no one before I was Jack Frost." I place my hand on his shoulder and he looks at me confused and slightly scared. I smile then get an idea. Jack knows it. "What? Shadow What's you're idea?" he shouts. I pull the dust out and make it swirl around Jack's head, laughing as he watches it, then the dust stops in front of him and form a moving picture. His memories. He looks shocked but then hugs whispering thank you. The others all look shocked. "What? how?" they ask.
"I don't know. We've come to realise that if I can think it and/or see it. I can make it happen." I answer shrugging a little. "So shall we?" I ask.
"What?" Jack asks
"Shall we get going? There's teeth to collect." we that they all smile and we're off.
--Time Skip--
Me, Jack and Tooth arrive at Jamie's, Jack and I smirk when Tooth asks about Jamie losing his tooth in a collision. Then the others turn up and they wake Jamie. He can see them but not me or Jack. It hurts but not too much. Then the dog, Abi, notices Bunny and he gets carried away leading to Jack hitting the alarm clock and me to cheer the dog on. Sandy hits everyone with dream sand then Jack spots two nightmares and follows them, I follow him and Sandy follows me.
I catch up with Jack and find him talking to Pitch. "And who might you be?" Pitch sneers at me. I know he can't see what I look like due to my over sized hood. "Leave her alone." Jack orders, overprotective as always. "My, my... Now I really know how to get to you Jack." Pitch taunts him attempting to come closer to me but I snarl telling him to back away. "To answer you, I'm Shadow." I speak softly seeing the effect on both Jack and Pitch... Fear and intimidation. "Oh I like you. You know how to play my game." I smirk
"No I know how to play my game." I create copies of myself surrounding Pitch and then he sees his precious nightmares turn to dust. "Are you afraid Pitch?" I ask sensing his fear. Jack laughs finally catching on to my game. Scare the nightmare king.
Sandy arrives and tells pitch off in his own way but nightmares surround us. Luckily the others arrive but you can't win a war without casualties. We won the battle but we lost Sandy.
I feel the balance tip as soon as he's hit. Jack attacks Pitch draining energy from himself, Tooth brings him back to the sleigh as we head to the Pole. We arrive and I feel it a burning in my chest. I gasp in pain and call out a horse "Jack!" he turns eyes locking with mine seeing the pain, fear and panic in them he rush to get to me. "Rebecca?! What is it? What's wrong?" he asks scanning me for any injuries as I gasp for oxygen "it hurts Jack." I whimper clawing at my chest while gripping Jacks hand. I scream as the burning becomes a raging fire then I black out.
"Rebecca. You're okay. I'm sorry you felt that but it's because of the balance being tipped. You are linked closely with the balance, so if something goes wrong with it, you will be first to know." Manny's calm voice fills my head "You were chosen to be this way for a good reason, you see and feel what others don't. You're also needed for a reason you are to figure out. As well as Jack." I nod "Time to wake up now."
Jack's POV
No. Sandy, he's gone. We get back to the Pole and Rebecca walks in last, probably grieving Sandy like the rest of us. But I hear her gasp and weakly call me "Jack!" she sounds like she's in pain. I turn to her quickly and see her beautiful blue eyes filled with pain, fear and panic. I sprint to her side, alerting the others to her situation.
Rebecca?! What is it? What's wrong?" I ask scanning her for any injuries as she gasps for oxygen "it hurts Jack." she whimpers, clawing at her chest while gripping my hand. She suddenly screams as she slumps over unconscious in my arms. "Rebecca?!" I try shaking her awake. When that doesn't work I look up at North, Tooth and Bunny pleading them to help her "Please. I can't lose her. Please." I'm on the brink of tears as Bunny picks her up quickly walking to North's office, he lays her down as a yeti comes in checking her over. "Has this ever happened before, mate?" Bunny asks me, I shake my head "Not in the 12 years I've known her."
"You've known her for 12 years?" Tooth asks
"Yeah. She was 5 and alone in the forest, she saw me and decided to follow me in the shadows and every time I tried to see who was following me she hide. I went to leave but I heard the ice on the lake break and a scream. I turned around to see a small child struggling to stay a float. So I swooped down and saved her. We've been together ever since. She is the first and the only one to ever see me in 300 years." I'm sobbing now feeling the dread that she may... That she may leave me. Alone again. "Hey, she'll be okay. Maybe she's just exhausted." I nod at Tooth's words before walking to a chair and curling Rebecca into my arms, protecting her as I always have.
I hear a gasp followed by a whimper "Jack?" Rebecca. "I'm here." she hugs me telling me that it was the balance. She has to keep the balance.
Bunny calls a meeting so that we can help prepare Easter. The tunnels are so fun. Rebecca laughs having her energy back but I still hold her. Bunny suddenly gets ready for an attack... Someone is in the Warran. "Sophie?" Rebecca and I say in surprise.
The guardians need practice with children that's for sure but I can help there. Rebecca and I create a snowflake each mine causes Bunny to wanna have fun while Rebecca's entertains Sophie floating around her head before melting on her nose.
We get the eggs ready then Tooth goes to take Sophie home but Rebecca says she will meaning I will too.
"No we need you here. If Pitch comes-" I interrupt saying he's no match for my staff or Rebecca "Exactly." "Don't worry, we'll be as quick as a Bunny." I say as Rebecca cradles Sophie gently rocking her. "Let's get going then."
Rebecca lets me take Sophie to her bed but I have a little trouble and she almost falls out of bed... Well she does but Rebecca uses the shadows to catch her and move her into the bed then I tuck her in. We're about to leave when I hear a familiar voice... My sister.
