Rebecca's POV

We hear Jack's memories play and I know he wants to go but we can't. "Jack no!" I say

"But their my memories."

"I know but you have them. We can't Jack."

"What about the tooth fairies. We could save them and get the teeth back." I feel unsure but know that if we don't try we might not get another shot so reluctantly I agree and together we dart towards the voice.

A bed. Ironic really. We enter and see hundreds of cages and piles of teeth. Jack flies to the cages as I take in the surrounding area, I sense Pitch close by and I'm about to warn Jack when a hand covers my mouth and an arm pins mine to my sides. "Now, now. We wouldn't want to spoil the fun." Pitch purrs by my ear. He then taunts Jack leading him to the Warren. All the eggs are destroyed. No, I cry out mentally. I'm still pinned to Pitch.

"Now you my dear Shadow have intrigued me. My nightmares told me that you turned some of them to dust then I saw it myself. You even made me feel fear which does not happen often I assure you. You see I have a feeling you are going to be a pain in my plan but also a good thing as it appears dear old Jack Frost cares for you." I stand emotionless.

Pitch then takes us some where. I can feel Jack close-by. I can't hear what is being said until pitch drags me in view of Jack. "Rebecca! Let her go!"

" The staff, Jack! You have a bad habit of interfering. Now hand it over, and I'll let her go." I shake my head. I'm not worth it. "Alright. Now let her go" Jack hands his staff to Pitch. " No. [Jack is shocked, then furious.] You said you wanted to be alone. So be alone!" Pitch smirks. I glare at him before slipping out a small knife and stabbing him with it.

Pitch gasps in pain before throwing me into a nearby crack in the ice. I hear Jack scream "NO!!" followed by a sound of snapping wood before Jack falls in the crevice as me. Pitch laughs as he drops the broken staff into the fissure with them, and leaves. "Rebecca!" jack crawls over to me and we hug. "I'm sorry" we say together before curling up against the wall.

"it's hopeless." I hear jack mumble against my hair. "No. No. Don't say that. Don't give up. Please Jack." I say in a slightly panicked tone. He looks at me but shakes his head giving up. I remember what Tooth said about memories and wave my hand creating Jack's memories just like I did before. As he watches I see the hope fill his eyes before he leaps up picking up his broke staff and fixing it with his frost then look back at me with a smile. "Don't look at me like that, Jack. Go. Leave me here. I'm useless." I sigh, well it's true. I've caused more problems than I I've helped. Pitch was right... I'm not guardian material. I think to myself giving Jack a sad smile. "Rebecca. Do you really believe that?" I nod, he shakes his head "You, my little shadow, are so much more than you can see. You bring me so much hope and happiness that without you I would still be lay here miserable, lonely and I would not have had the most amazing friend in the entire world for the last 12 years. Rebecca ever since you became my friend I have loved and cared about you. Now you really are my Shadow and you have adjusted so well. I even think I know what you center is." "What? WHAT'S MY CENTER JACK?" I shout in pure delight, especially now Jack said all those nice things about me, I think... No I can't but I do I love Jack Frost, my best friend. "Rebecca you care about people and take the time to know them then you accept them for who they, you never expect them to change. Your center is... Love and acceptance." "Oh... I guess that's cool." Jack laughs "Wish I knew mine." he sighs, I smile "You do. You just don't realise you do." "Okay, let's go." Jack wraps his arm my waist and together we fly back to pitch's lair.

Jack's POV

We get to the lair and together we open the cages but none of the fairies fly out... Why?

"Go. Get out of here." I say only receiving shakes of heads and twitters. "Jack, they can't fly." Rebecca comes close to me. "Look at the globe. No one believes." she continues her voice void of emotion. I do as she says and see that there is only 5 lights left and they're currently going out. I fly to the globe as Rebecca calms the fairies. The last light doesn't go out... Jamie. "Rebecca we need to get to Jamie quickly... Before Pitch does." I say to her, she nods turning to the fairies. "As soon as you can fly, get out of here. Take the teeth with you." they nod and we leave.

Arriving at Jamie's we see him talking to a bunny toy asking for a sign that the Easter Bunny is really. I look at Rebecca silently asking if she has a plan, she shakes her head no. Then I get one I frost up the window gaining Jamie's attention and Rebecca draws an egg. Jamie gasps almost jumping up, we enter the room as I draw a bunny then I make it 3D and let it hop around the room and around Jamie's head before it explores making it snow in his room. As a snowflake hits his nose I hear him whisper something that he repeats a bit louder as he turns towards me "Jack Frost." I'm shock as is he apparently, wait can he see me. "Wait can you see me?" he nods, mouth open "can you hear me?" again he nods. I get a little over excited by this causing Jamie and Rebecca to laugh. "You're really." I nod "What about the Easter Bunny? Santa Clause? The tooth fairy? And sandman?" he asks "Yes. They're all really. We're all really." "Are they here?" I shake my head "no but my friend Rebecca is." "Rebecca?" he tilts his head slightly "Yeah. Rebecca Shadow. She's waving BTW." Jamie waves back with a little smile then he gasps. "Whoa. You're really pretty. I love your outfit." he runs to her as she smiles a little, a little blush covering her cheeks. Jamie's words causes a strange feeling in me... Am I jealous? I could be, he called Rebecca pretty and made her blush so yes I could be. She's mine. I love her. I really do. "Thank you." she says.

We hear the sleigh so I tell Jamie to wait there as I go make sure it's them. "I'll stay with him." I nod to Rebecca as she places a hand on Jamie's shoulder knowing she will be able to sense pitch coming.

Rebecca's POV

I stay with Jamie as Jack flies from the window. I need to work quickly. I bob down in front of Jamie my hands on his shoulders. "Look Jamie. You are the one of the last believer right now but the other guardians and Pitch Black believe you are the only one. This means you're in danger but we will protect you. Pitch wants no one to believe in the guardians so that he can spread fear and only fear around the world. I have a theory that this is because he is pushed aside and is lonely. He does the same job as the guardians but he isn't believed in or appreciate for it, for protecting children. He's hurt and angry, Jamie. So I need you're help." he nods listening to every word. "I need you to believe in him but not be scared of him because I will not let you get hurt okay." "Okay. I can do that." I smile at his determination "I know you can."

I stand pulling him on to my back and walking to the front door. "Rebecca, who are the other children who believe?" I hear Jamie ask me "Well me and Jack of course. We maybe immortal but we're still children." Jamie thinks about this then laughs a little. Outside I let Jamie run ahead feeling Pitch coming closer.

"Jack, Rebecca he can see you." we smile each putting a hand on Jamie's shoulders. "That he can."

"Where's the Easter Bunny?" Jamie asks seeing that he's missing from the line up. Tooth and North turn revelling a small cute bunny. Jamie walks over scratching behind his ear asking what happened as he remembered a 6ft tall kangaroo I mean rabbit not a cute bunny. Bunny takes offense and assume Jack told him to say it so asks to fight when Jamie interrupts telling them that Jack made him believe right as he was about to give up. "Aww. Look Jack, you got The Kangaroo all emotional." I smirk seeing the glare that's thrown at me and hearing the laugh from everyone else.

Suddenly I grab Jamie bringing him close to me and scanning the shadows around us. "Guys, Pitch is here." I say, holding Jamie tighter. "Get Jamie out of here and keep him safe." Jack orders the others, who I've just noticed are weaker than before. I pass Jamie to North going to stand with Jack when he turns to me "Go with them. Keep them safe. Keep yourself safe." I'm about to protest when he smiles and places a quick kiss on my cheek, very close to my lips. "I love you and I really need you to be safe." I nod whispering a stay safe before rushing to the others who are following Bunny, to a dead end.

We go to turn back when Jack falls with a groan. He had one job and that was to be safe and he can't even do that. Jamie reaches Jack first then the others and me last. "He's stronger than before. I can't beat him" Pitch comes laughing "Finally, realised it. All this fuss over one little boy. And he still believes." I once again pull Jamie behind me however this time I stand in front of everyone.

3rd Person's POV

"If you want him, you're gonna have to go through me!" Bunny says from his position in front of Jamie.

"If you want any of them, you have to go through me." Shadow says gliding in front of them all, mostly protecting Jamie and Jack. "Shadow, what are you up to?" Jack whispers to her noticing he is in most of the protection with Jamie but not receiving an answer.

Pitch laughs talking to Bunny first "Oh, look how fluffy you are! [His shadow pokes at Bunny from the ground.] Would you like a scratch behind the ears?" then looks at Shadow "Aww my sweet Shadow do you really believe that you can stop me?" she sneers "I'm not yours nor am I sweet. But yes I can stop you however I'm not going to." Everyone but Jamie looks at her in shock. "What?!" is echoed around the alleyway. "You heard me."

Jamie knowing Rebecca's plan and seeing the nod she sends him he whimpers moving closer to Jack "Jack, I'm scared."

Jack believing Jamie is generally freighten crouches in front of Jamie, remembering his sister saying the same thing. "I- I know, I know, but you're gonna be alright. We're gonna have a little fun instead. That's it - that's my center!" Jamie looks confused but is happy with himself since that was his job, Rebecca needed him to help Jack recognise his center. Jamie sees Rebecca's smile and knows he did good.

Pitch chuckles hearing Jamie and Jack "So what do you think, Jamie? Do you believe in the Boogey-- AH!" The Nightmares go on alert, confused. A snowball just hit Pitch in the face. A little laugh escapes Jamie, and the others too. While Rebecca joins in with a full out laugh. "Whoop, nice shot, Jack." she cheers.

Jack laughs along, encouraged even more by Rebecca "Now let's go get your friends." Pitch clears the snow from his face, just as Jack's ice run streaks past them. They all go careening down the middle of the street, laughing as Jack keeps them moving. Even Bunny enjoys himself for a brief moment.

Jamie's friends soon join us and Rebecca explains to each about Pitch and they all agree just as Jamie did. Now for the guardians, Jack and Pitch Rebecca thinks to herself. She looks up at Manny who shines brighter but only enough for her to tell that she was doing the right thing.

Full of confidence Rebecca goes ahead.

She let's them all talk back and forth both ordering them all to stop which they do. "What's wrong, Shadow?" Tooth asks concerned

"This is wrong."

"What's wrong?" Bunny asks

"This. Fighting. Can you not see it? Can you really not see that you are fighting one of your own?" She then turns to Pitch "And you. Can you not try to talk to them instead of trying to destroy them? You tip the balance just for attention, attention that you could easily get if you talked and did your job correctly?" they all look down in thought and shame, all except Jack. He walks to his Shadow and gathers her in a tight hug after quickly understanding her point. "Amazing as always Snowflake. How come you didn't tell me sooner?"

"I didn't know if you would listen. You only ever see what you want to." he chuckles "True. That's why I need you by my side. So Rebecca will you be my little shadow?"

"Only if you Jack will be my Snowman?" they both nod laughing at the other. The kids all join the laughter both beginning a snowball fight. Rebecca walks over to the guardians "So have you got the answers to my questions?" they nod, Rebecca motions for them to answer, Pitch starts "I didn't think they would listen and I didn't understand the importance of the balance. I get carried away when I'm emotional. I'm sorry." then the guardians take their turn "We never realised that Pitch was one of us -" North is interrupted by Bunny "Still don't understand how he's one of us." Rebecca sighs but explains "Well you protect children. So does Pitch. He creates the fear that protects children from their own curiosity and fun loving nature. I believe the phrase 'too much of a good thing' explains it." they nod. "We're sorry Pitch. We really are."

"I am too."

Then North calls Jack over. "Are you all ready?" Pitch asks "Ready for what?" "To be guardian of course!" North cheers as Pitch and Jack nod "Rebecca?"

"No, I don't think so. I'll help you protect the children but I don't think I won't to be a guardian, I have another job to do." They nod though they are confused. But go on with the oath.
