Morgan didn't like Soulmarks.
Many had their own assumptions for that.
Many assumed it was because Morgan had no Soulmarks. Yeah, the young girl wore bracelets all the same, but they were definitely fake. Something to make her look normal.
Or, they assumed the words had slurs on them. It was becoming more common. It often upset kids when their Soulmarks had foul language, because they always had to ask their parents or peers about what the words meant. If Morgan Spencer had bad words, her parents would have read her the riot act. Anyone would hate Soulmarks after that.
Or, the more scientific minded folks believed Morgan had the same feelings as them. Soulmarks made no sense. What rhyme or reason did they have? How could science figure out the first words a stranger would say to you? Why were they on your wrists, written in an unfamiliar handwriting? Why were they different colors?
Morgan definitely had a good reason for disliking Soulmarks. Not hate, Morgan could never. For all the confusions, Soulmarks still meant someone out there was for her. A person who would love her, for all she was. That wouldn't think of her as a freak- something subhuman, or a witch to be burned. A person who would stand with her, instead of against her.
Morgan disliked Soulmarks for a good reason. They should've made her normal. Instead, Morgan Spencer had three.

"Oh! It came out!"
The first Soulmark sat just below her left wrist. Morgan- going by Terra, at the moment- liked the shade of green. A not-quite neon green, with blocky letters in a thin pen. Terra loved reading the Words over the years, memorizing them.
The letter 't' crossed over her bluest blood vessel. Her own freckles dotted the exclamation marks. The green stood out against her pale white skin.
The Soulmarks stayed the same, no matter the reality Terra visited. The same three phrases tattooed on her wrists. Terra knew them by heart- hearts, really.
Terra knew she would recognize her people at the first words. However, she doubted she would meet them. The idea of Soulmates in other realities was like a dream. What were the chances she would meet them in one of her worlds? Did that mean she would have to explain her powers to them, explain her oddities? How much was too much to drop on them?
She was stressed. Nothing new about that.
Terra walked into a bookstore, hoping to relax. The Doctor and Rose were just going to get milk and other groceries. She shouldn't need to stress about that, yeah? They'd gone on milk runs before. Terra could afford to skip out to visit a store.
The new releases section had fun options. One caught Terra's eyes.
"'Sherlock Holmes: the Mystery of the Persnickety Khassivine'? They still have Sherlock Holmes?" Terra asked out loud.
"Oh! It came out!" Terra froze, the book held tight in her grip. "I've been waiting for that!"
She looked up at the person speaking. A girl, shorter than Terra by an inch. The girl was dark-skinned, like melted chocolate. Her black hair was a few shades darker, the same black as ink in a book, held back by blue butterfly clips. Her eyes were brown as an oak tree, and Terra thought they looked as old and mysterious.
Terra could only stare at those eyes. The ones that hadn't looked away from the book in Terra's hands.
"It-" Terra swallowed. "It's- um. The-"
"From a series, yeah." The girl replied. "I don't usually come around here, but I was really hopeful about that series! It's the fifth. The writer was bringing back Old Earth classics, ya know? The one from thousands of years ago? So like, this was one of them. That and something called Romeo and Juliet, something called Marvel Comics, Harry Potter, the Doctor and the Terra, and finally Sherlock Holmes!"
Terra wondered if her words were just that common to this girl. What had her first words been again? Something about Sherlock Holmes and a Khassivine? How common was that?
But then again, Terra's words were common enough. People said that to Terra for centuries. She'd gotten excited about the phrase before. She got her hopes up for nothing.
"They fit all of Harry Potter in one book?" Terra asked, forcing down any bad feelings.
The girl titled her head, brown eyes staring at Terra. Terra ignored how her breath hitched. "What do you-" She stopped. Her brown eyes went wide.
Terra swallowed.
The girl reached for her left wrist, pulling at the latch on her wrist.
Terra's breathing hitched again.
Without being fully aware, Terra went for her own wrist.
The two teenagers showed off their left wrists. Words of pink and green shared between them- a not-quite neon green, a dark sort of pink.
The girl smiled. Terra's hearts may have stopped seeing her bright smile.
"I'm-" She paused. Surely, she could tell her Soulmate her real name? Would it get anyone in trouble if she knew?
"Reighley." She held out her hand. Left hand. Terra could see the pink words- dark pink contrasting in pale brown. Words in Terra's handwriting- her 'o's always had a line through them. "Ravaydark."
"Mor- Terra." She blurted. She winced, swallowing. "But my- my friends call me Morgan."
Reighley's smile might have killed Terra.
"Wanna watch a Harry Potter movie?" Terra offered. "It's really old, and a musical."
"Who can turn down a musical?" Reighley asked.
==YOTR==
Terra hated having to leave. Reighley was so cool. She loved the songs. She didn't mind when Terra explained the jokes, or the reference, or rambled for ten minutes about how Slytherins weren't that bad. Reighley also talked- had the best sense of humor. Terra wanted to laugh for ages, except she kept getting distracted by Reighley's smile.
But Terra had to leave.
The Doctor and Rose needed her- fucking dumbasses.
Terra closed her phone with a smack. The loud sound satisfied her, made her feel good at cutting them off.
Except for Reighley...
Terra turned to her. "I'm so sorry- they're just- they're apparently dying without me."
Reighley pouted. Terra wondered what it would feel like to kiss that pout away. Stop that, stop that right now. "Drat. I wanted to see the rest!"
"It's terrific too..." Terra mused. She grabbed her books, tucking them away in her Bag. Reighley bought them for her, which made them more precious than her TARDIS key.
Reighley waved her arm. "Then you'll show it to me next time?"
Terra nodded, her head shaking like a broken bobblehead.
"I'm holding you to that, Morgan." Reighley told her.
Terra squeaked. Her name from Reighley's mouth sounded- well, it sounded terrific.
==YOTR==
The Doctor asked her what was wrong.
Terra couldn't answer him. Wrong? What was wrong with today? Things had only gone right. Terra met her Soulmate- one of three. Nothing was wrong about that. Getting time alone to think gave Terra no time to fret about details.
Like...like does this mean Terra brings Reighley on the TARDIS?
Would the Doctor even let Reighley join? She was barely a teenager. That had to be too young.
How could Terra bring Reighley into her life? Does- does Terra just admit it? Come out and say she's from another world? Then just bring Reighley home?
Terra- Morgan couldn't bring a girl home. Mr and Mrs Spencer would kill her. Kill her, then Reighley, then bring back Morgan just to kill her again. Morgan couldn't introduce a girl from the 52nd century to her 21st century life.
Holy shit what would Darcy say?
Absolutely nothing was wrong.
Terra ran off- making up some lie about what she wanted to eat.
"Morgan!"
She stumbled on her steps. "Reighley?"
Reighley indeed ran towards Terra. A different outfit- a tight green jumpsuit. Her shade of green. The same shade on Terra's wrist, and on the wrists of two other people in the whole of creation.
"I knew it was you! You're in the same hoodie!" Reighley explained. "It looks good on you."
Terra blushed. "I- I'm sorry. I didn't- I didn't know I'd be gone like that. I thought I'd be back right away."
Reighley waved her hand. Terra spotted purple painted nails. Purple and green, a beautiful combination on Reighley. "Forget about it. You're here now. That's all I want."
Terra squeaked. Reighley giggled- fucking giggled, like she was trying on purpose to give Terra a heart attack.
"I've been coming to the mall more often lately." Reighley admitted. "Just to see you again."
"Y-yeah?"
"Yeah." Reighley nodded her head to a nearby shop. "Wanna get pizza? We can eat it while you show me that musical like you promised."
Terra nodded, mute.
"How do you feel about pineapple on pizza?" Reighley asked.
"It belongs in the fires of hell." Terra answered obediently.

"Someday, I want someone to love me the way Ron loves Red Vines." Reighley remarked.
"Someday, I want someone to love me the way Quirrel loves Voldemort." Terra countered.
"Someday-" Reighley snorted, at her own joke that she hadn't even said yet. "I want someone to love me-haha- the way Draco loves himself." She choked on her own laugh, managing to fix herself and then kept on laughing.
Terra chuckled so hard, if she were human her lungs would hurt. "He can't do that. Then- if he were to touch himself-" She copied the glare Snape had given earlier.
Reighley burst out in barking laughter. It set Terra off with her. The people sitting around were no doubt glaring at the 'loud humans'. Neither of the Soulmates gave a fuck about that, too busy laughing.
Terra wiped her cheeks. She'd laugh so hard she started crying.
Then Reighley held her hand.
Terra loved it. She squeezed back.
"Someday?" Reighley asked.
Terra squeezed. "I'm happy as a squirrel, long as…Reighley's in my world."
Reighley giggled. Her thumb brushed Terra's knuckles. "I can't rhyme like that. Wanna help teach me?"
"I-"
Terra wanted that. She really, really wanted that. It didn't matter. All the things she'd spent the afternoon worrying about. She could run away with Reighley. They could be together, living among the stars and exploring with Reighley. As for back home...Terra could easily run away. She'd wanted to for years. With Reighley, it would actually be fun.
Terra would even put up with Darcy's jokes. It wouldn't matter. Terra would be with Reighley. That's all she would need for now, right?
"TERRA!"
Terra and Reighley snapped their heads around. Realizing who was yelling, Terra groaned. Reighley raised an eyebrow.
"You know him?" Reighley asked.
"He's-" Terra sighed, rubbing her forehead. "A friend."
"The same one from before?" Reighley asked. She looked around at the still yelling man.
Terra nodded. "He's getting into messes all the time. I keep cleaning them up."
Reighley hummed. "Like...buying Red Vines messes, or stopping the Dark Lord messes?"
Terra grimaced. "The second one."
"Ooh, those are bad." But Reighley was grinning. "Are they fun?"
Terra considered her answer. "Yeah."
Reighley grinned.
"Terra!" The Doctor shouted again.
Terra stood up. "I'm gonna go talk to him. Wait for me a minute?"
Reighley snorted. "I make no promises."
Terra smiled. She turned, planning to keep the whole thing short and sweet. She would tell the Doctor to shut up, then go right back to Reighley and plan to run away. It'd be easy, quick, and over in a minute.
That's not what ended up happening.
==YOTR==
Reighley gave chase to Morgan. From her seat, Reighley watched the man in the brown suit grab Morgan by the wrist. The man dragged Reighley's Soulmate away.
That just wouldn't stand.
Reighley ran, chasing after the two of them. She turned a corner, seeing only a long hallway. Reighley rushed to it. She kicked it open.
The doors swung open. Reighley saw a large lobby.
"Hey there!" A voice cheered. Reighley turned. She saw a young woman, bright ginger hair with a dark blue bowtie and a dark pink dress. "I'd heard you were coming today." She reached up, brushing hair behind her ear.
Reighley saw it. Green ink, familiar words. Reighley knew them now.
The young woman- Morgan- beamed. "We have a lot to talk about."
