One Year Later
"Hey Deeks, do you or Kensi know somebody named Lucy?" Fatima asked, stopping in front of Deeks' desk, which Kensi was currently sharing.
"Uh, maybe? Why?" Deeks arched an eyebrow and screwed up his face, filing through his mental file of acquaintances.
"Because you got a wedding invitation from her. Seems legitimate..." For reference, Fatima held up a simple blue and gray square of cardstock. Deeks took it, nodding his thanks as Fatima wandered back to the stairs. His eyes widened in surprise as he read the text.
"Oh my god, Kensi it's them. It's Tim and Lucy," he told Kensi, excitedly handing her the invitation.
"You're kidding," she said, sitting up straighter as Deeks read out loud.
"Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford kindly invite you to celebrate their marriage on October 28, 2023."
"That's fantastic. I honestly didn't expect them to go through with it."
"Good for them," Deeks commented, smiling down at the invitation again. He felt oddly proud and happy for Tim and Lucy. "You wanna go?"
"Of course. We're at least 50% responsible for this relationship and marriage," Kensi declared, pointing her finger at the invitation.
"Mm, we are excellent matchmakers, aren't we?" Deeks agreed softly, tugging her into his side. "And here you wanted me to get rid of that video."
"Oh hush." Rolling her eyes fondly, Kensi stretched up on her toes to kiss him.
October 28, 2023
Lucy held up the bouquet as their guests cheered, her other hand held tightly in Tim's. They had just said their I do's after a beautiful ceremony and could now officially call each other husband and wife and they couldn't be happier.
Walking back down the aisle they smiled at their friends and family that filled both sides of the aisle until a couple in the back caught their eyes.
There sat Kensi and Deeks, smiles on both of their faces as they cheered along with the rest of the crowd. They smiled back at them, mouthing 'thank you' as they passed.
They had a lot to owe the couple that knocked some sense into them when it seemed no one else could. A fact that wouldn't be let go of by their friends, especially when the video of the non-proposal played at their reception right before the video of their actual proposal.
Amidst the laughter of their friends Tim stood, holding his hand out to his new wife.
"I believe you still owe me a dance." His smile was bright as she smirked.
"I already paid up on that one mister." He rolled his eyes at her and groaned but there was no frustration behind his actions.
"Fine. Then Mrs. Bradford, may I have this dance?" She smiled then, placing her hand in his.
"Yes you may." He pulled her up from her chair, leading her to the middle of the dance floor as the announcement of their first dance came across the speakers.
Their eyes never strayed from each other as they twirled across the dance floor, the ocean breeze blowing Lucy's hair around them.
"I still can't believe you wanted to get married on the beach."
"What can I say, this place holds some pretty great memories. I figured why not add one more." She leaned up, smiling as she kissed him gently and being careful not to get too carried away.
"Those are some pretty great memories huh?" He only nodded as he chased her lips for one more kiss.
Just over a year ago they were standing in this same spot as friends, Tim holding her moonstone ring up to her after a long and panicked search.
Six months later they were there again, only that time when Tim held a ring up to her it was an engagement ring and she happily said yes when he finally got the words out.
Now here they were in the same spot, dancing with each other on their wedding day, Lucy's moonstone ring shining on her right hand while her engagement and wedding rings glistened in the light on her left hand.
And it would be the same spot she would stop at eight weeks later as they walked along the beach to tell him their lives were about to change again in seven months as she presented him with a baby's teething ring.
That time there was no mistaking they were a couple as he kissed her, picking her up and swinging her around, garnering applause from the crowd around them. But no one was clapping more than the couple standing to the side, smiles bright on their faces as they recorded another important moment for their favorite couple.
