Varan was first seen being worshiped by a tribe native to infant island, as the harbinger of the apocalypse, before making landfall in Pakistan, and devastated before it was presumably killed by having a nuclear missile shot into its throat, but while the body was being hauled away, Varan woke up, and completely obliterated his captors with a sonic heat beam, an ability which he did not have before, and it turned out that the radiation had actually enhanced the monster, it was the force of the nuke that had put the monster into a brief comatose state, but the Pakistani government was able to kill the monster (for real this time) by shooting a capsule filled with anti-nuclear energy bacteria. 117.3 million casualties were reported in Varan's attack.
