AN: A quick oneshot for a discord contest. Hope you enjoy the idea. Will probably never continue as Konosuba has many details I do not know. Also, I need to update my other fics.
"I'll grant you one power that is second to none!" promised the goddess Aqua.
Seeing the overwhelming amount of cards detailing abilities or broken weapons, Satou Kazuma despite his lame death felt compelled to take a good long look to make sure his ability was second to none.
He was going to look through each and every one of them, but one particular card stood out to him, Romcom Protagonist: "No matter the setting, the world is warped to your will."
"I want this one," Kazuma said, holding up the card to the lounging goddess.
"You picked one? Good, I don't have all day. Give it here." She snatched the card out of Kazuma's hand before her face crumpled up in disgust. "Was there ever a card like this in that stack?" she questioned. "Well, whatever. Makes sense for an otaku like you to have a weird power like that!"
Aqua activated the card, making it float and glow before it pulsed and evaporated, signaling the card's success.
"D-Did anything happen?" Kazuma blinked, "I'm not feeling anything different."
"What did you expect? This power is really lame. Did you think something dramatic would happen?" she said, her voice getting strangely higher at the end.
"Huh, what's wrong?" Kazuma asked.
Suddenly a beam of light shone down Kazuma as he slowly floated up into the sky. "WAIT! NO, stay for a little bit!"
Kazuma noticed her strange behavior change from a lazy disinterested goddess to an expectant shy goddess. The red blush exploded over Aqua's face as she yelled after him, "Please! When you get over there, go to my temple! If you do, you'll get rewarded!"
"Maybe I will. Wait for me," Kazuma said before turning his head to the sky waiting for his isekai journey. Was Kazuma actually going to go to Aqua's temple and meet her? Hmm maybe, but it's not like it's on his priorities though. Kazuma wasn't one to hold a grudge- scratch that, he absolutely was. She's going to be waiting a while.
Pretty soon, Kazuma felt something was different about his surroundings. He opened his eyes slowly but still felt shuddered from the harsh sun. Being a shut-in for most of his life had not done wonders for his athleticism.
It appeared that he was in a town, a beginner one assumedly. Common sense would dictate that since his goal was to defeat the Demon King, becoming an adventurer would be the perfect way to start his journey and so he quickly walked around the town to look for the adventurer guild.
For some reason, Kazuma could understand the language of this world as if he'd known it his own life. The world itself felt so fresh to Kazuma as if his possibilities could be endless in this world. For one thing, he actually left his room and with this power, he could maybe get a girlfriend now, a double win!
Kazuma finally found the grand building titled "Adventurer Guild" and naturally, Kazuma entered with zero hesitation. "This is like those mmos I used to play. Everything about this is familiar to me. I guess being an otaku was helpful for once," Kazuma thought snidely, thinking about how Aqua was using it as an insult earlier.
The place appeared lively with men decked out in weapons and gear. "Hm, I guess I sign up at the receptionist?" Kazuma thought.
Strolling over the cute blond receptionist, Kazuma awkwardly smiled at the girl and asked, "Is this where I can be an adventurer?"
A light blush appeared on the receptionist's face before she coughed and recovered her professionalism, answering, "Yes! First you need the registration fee and then we'll check your class!"
"Ah, I don't have any money. I guess I'll sign up later. Sorry for the trouble then," Kazuma said, feeling sick to his stomach at the awkwardness of the situation. This wasn't like any of the games he played in the past!
"W-wait!" The receptionist cried out, a little desperate. "You know what? Don't worry about it."
"Wait, what do you mean? Is there another way I can pay?" Kazuma was also a little desperate. Even with this power, having no money meant no options at the moment.
The receptionist exploded over her face at those words as she shook her head and said, "No, it's alright! I'll cut you a break here. Let's just say, you'll pay me back, ok?"
A wide smile covered Kazuma's face. "Thank you so much, Miss Receptionist. I'm so sorry for the trouble," he said, scratching his head.
"Oh please," the blonde said, "Call me Luna. Now just write your name down here and we can see what your class options are."
Kazuma quickly scribbled out his name and every relevant information before submitting it to Luna.
"Good job! Now all that's left is for you to place your hand on this ball." Luna explained, pointing to the crystal ball.
Kazuma took a deep breath before placing his hand on the crystal and almost immediately light poured out all over the room, alerting everyone in the guild that something strange had been evaluated.
Usually even powerful classes don't get any other reaction from the crystal, it just gives the information as per usual, but this, this was different.
"My word! This has never happened before!" Luna exclaimed, everyone around her sitting on the edge of their seats to hear the news. "Let's see⦠huh weird."
"Weird?" the spectating adventurers repeated.
"Weird?" Kazuma thought, worried about what that meant.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I was just wondering why it garnered the reaction it did. Your health and Luck are both pretty high, but the rest are average. A perfectly normal stat to have!" Luna said, not seeing anything wrong with the statement.
Most of the adventurers shrugged Kazuma off at this news. This wasn't a new legend in the making or anything. Although most adventurers backed off at this news though, there was a particular group of adventurers that were still excited about the new recruit, specifically the women adventurers. Whether it be an older witch, as experienced as she is beautiful or a young fighter, ready to take on the world with their youth, Kazuma, unbeknownst to him, was getting attention.
As Luna read off the stats, the part that stopped her in her tracks were the classes.
"Th-This can't be!" she cried out, her eyes upturning to match Kazuma's. His gaze seemingly made Luna uncomfortable as she attempted to shield herself from him, unknowingly catching Kazuma's curiosity even more.
"What is it, Miss Luna? What's my possible classes?"
Luna hesitated to tell him the news, but those big green eyes allowed her to calm down somewhat as she composed herself.
"Your possible classes are adventurer, merchant, and Harem King."
The room blanked out at the news. Kazuma, himself, was surprised to hear that the power he asked for became a class for him as well, but other than that was pretty ok with this.
But a thought went through Kazuma's mind. "Uh oh. Didn't MIss Luna say this pretty loud? What if that's a strange class to everyone? Could something bad happen?" Kazuma turned around to find every female adventurer drawing closer and closer to him.
"Ara ara. Would you like to learn a few things from me?" A high ranked mage asked.
"Hey, how about we go kill some slimes together!" An upbeat knight said.
Kazuma was alarmed by this reaction as various questions such as these were suddenly being sent his way and as a young man that never received any sort of female attention in his past life, he was not prepared for the complete opposite.
Arms wrapped up behind Kazuma, alerting him to Luna who had him in a hug. "I-I'll take care of him as per my job requires me too!"
Kazuma certainly appreciated the many things going on, especially with how Miss Luna was certainly a nice sight to see, but one question superseded any other thoughts.
"What kind of power did I just get?"
