Last time: Viran and Cien were able to find Sasha in the Force, but barely.
Now: Von calls his client.
Chapter 2- Von Signa
Von relaxed back in his chair aboard his ship with a proud smirk as the ship journeyed through hyperspace. He not only captured the girl, but also one of her friends that his client had mentioned. He could smell the big pay day that was coming with this bounty more than ever. In the back of the ship was a tiny holding cell that the Jedi currently occupied. Okay it wasn't a holding cell, it was a broom closet practically that was meant to make one person claustrophobic. Putting two people in there just sounded uncomfortable. But the two Jedi were still unconscious thanks to his chloroform hydrospray he had used on them.
After he took down the male Jedi, Von had rid the man of any weapons and communication devices just like he had done to the girl after she fell. He then dragged the male Jedi and placed him in the back of the speeder with the girl and threw a tarp over both of them. The hardest part of this whole thing was smuggling their unconscious forms back to his ship without catching the eye of the local security. He almost got stopped a couple of times before he was able to get away from the city. Thankfully they didn't search his speeder, they just waved him along allowing him to exit. Once he got back to his ship, he carried his catch onboard, dumped them in the cell, and proceeded to get them out of there.
The ship was now flying through hyperspace on it's way to his chosen destination. When the client told him he got to choose the planet that would host this little game of theirs, he searched throughout the whole galaxy for any planet or system that would fit the bill. Someplace that was mostly wild life or entirely abandoned or uninhabited. Someplace with rough terrain and deadly creatures. And someplace the Jedi couldn't go searching for help or a way off. But he admittedly at first didn't believe in the planet he had chosen. The rumors of the place was that it had creatures that could take away the Force and hunt those with it. However, there was no proven record that was the case with this planet. Just rumors. And as much as he loved a good rumor, he couldn't just believe everything he heard. But when he came up with his brilliant idea to capture the Jedi, he decided he was going to test the theory of the planet and see if the rumors were true. If they weren't, well he did have a nice back up plan just in case. He had to admit, though, he didn't think it would work. He was impressed with that lizard and what it could do. Both of those Jedi were affected by it. Hell, they were both surprised their magic powers were gone. He just wished he had gotten a recording of their reactions to that. He could sit back and watch that all day and have a good laugh at it.
Von looked back behind him at the back compartment where the lizard was currently stored. The thought occurred to him how handy those beasts can be when facing a Jedi. He would have to keep in mind for the future. Hell, he might just keep that one and call him Tex. He always wanted a pet.
As he turned back to face the viewport, he decided he should give not only the client a call, but also his hunters who were going to be participating in this. He pulled a datacard out of his pocket and placed it into the ship's comm system. He flipped a couple of switches then waited for the line to connect. A moment later, that symbol appeared again before him. He smirked at it as he leaned back in his chair.
"Von Signa," the deep voice said. "You have an update?"
"Your guess is right," Von said. "I've got good news and I've got great news. Which would ya like to hear first?"
"Just tell me what news you have." The client asked flatly.
"Alright, the good news is that I caught your Jedi," Von said as he smiled at the hologram. "She's all tied up and in the cell in the back of my ship."
"Well done," The client said, sounding maliciously pleased. "I presume she was not too difficult?"
"Nah, I got the jump on her and was able to bring her down," Von explained. "She didn't even see it coming." He laughed at that.
"And your other news?"
"I also caught her friend," Von said as his smile turned more vicious.
"A friend? What do you mean?" The client asked, a hint of annoyed confusion in his tone.
"I mean one of the other Jedi you listed off in your report," Von stated. "He tried to rescue her, but failed. I managed to take him down too and capture him. After all, ya did mention that if I saw the others, I should try and nab them too. So I did."
"Which Jedi?" The client asked.
"The one called Oppie Xiv according to your files," Von answered.
There was a brief silence. "I am impressed, bounty hunter," the client said, and actually sounded impressed with his handy work. "How did you manage to capture two Jedi?"
"Like a good magician, I don't reveal my secrets neither," Von said as he folded his arms. "But like I said before, the girl was easy to take down. The guy on the other hand, a bit of a challenge. But hey, I love me a challenge." He grinned at that.
"Well done," The client praised again. "You are now taking them to the planet you have chosen?"
"Yes, I am. I should be arriving just before sunrise in three days time. Then the following day the rest of my bounty hunters will arrive and the hunt will begin," Von said. "And don't worry, I've got cameras being set up by a team of droids I sent ahead so that way you can catch all of the action. The Jedi will have no idea they are on camera and neither will my bounty hunters. It would ruin the fun of it all."
"This is welcome news," The client said, pleased. "I have wired you your bounty, and the rest will be ready for when they do capture her."
"Hold your roll there, bub," Von butted in. "What do you want me to do about the other Jedi?"
The client went silent for a moment. "Let him join the hunt. If he is captured, I'll add an extra million on top of the prize money. If he's killed and his body brought to me, the same still applies. But if he is not captured, and somehow manages to escape, then nothing changes about our deal. Just remember, the main target for your hunters is the girl. I want her alive. I could care less about the other one for now. But if they want the extra incentive then they may take care of him too."
"Understood," Von said with a smirk. "I've just got one more question for ya. I've already removed their weapons. But should I be worried about them killing any of my men?"
There was a laugh from the client before they responded. "The older Jedi has killed before. The girl has only taken a few lives. And all of them were an accident. She is a skilled fighter and Jedi, but she is far from a killer. And without their weapons your hunters will be fine. I presume you have strong Force suppressants."
Von shifted his gaze slightly towards the door for a moment as he thought about the lizard. He then looked back. "Yeah, I'd say it's pretty damn strong. But that's good to hear."
"Keep me apprised of any changes," the client said, then they then hung up on him.
Von sat there in a long silence as he considered what the client said. He then turned back to the back compartment. "G3, give me everything you can on the planet. And call up my hunters, let them know the hunt is on." He called back.
"Yes sir," he heard the droid say as they shuffled into the room.
He looked at the chrome plated droid now in the hatchway..
"And make sure they are aware of the changes to the deal," Von explained. "The other Jedi is fair game for extra credits. But the girl is their first priority." The droid nodded and started to leave. "Oh also make sure they understand what they are dealing with. These two are Jedi. They can still fight. If they are worried about getting killed, tell them that the male is their only concern. The girl won't take a soul."
"Understood sir," G3 said before shuffling away to place the call.
While the droid did that, Von pulled out a cheroot and lit it up before placing it in his mouth. He sat there for a few moments enjoying the cheroot before he pulled up the files on these Jedi, Sasha Monroe and Oppie Xiv. The two Jedi sitting on his ship and the prey in the hunt.
Three days of flying later, the ship arrived at the planet and Von brought her into the atmosphere. He guided the ship over to the temple he had claimed as his base. The temple sat on the far edges of a dense forest that spread for hundreds of kilometers over several rivers, creeks, and mountains. And thankfully, the temple was visible enough from the sky that his hunters should be able to find him tomorrow. As he flew the ship down, the sky was starting to lighten up as the morning had arrived and soon it would be daybreak. He landed the ship in the dirt just before the entrance to the temple and started to shut the systems down. He then headed for the ramp of the ship where he was greeted by two large droids that were built for lifting and construction more than bounty hunting. He approached the droids as the crisp morning air whipped at his coat.
"The Jedi are on board in the cell," Von said to them. "Get them unloaded and then get them into position. I want them at their starting marker before the sun rises. Now move. Oh, and don't forget their packs. They're gonna need it."
"Roger, roger," The two droids said in unison before ascending the ramp to grab the Jedi.
Von turned towards G3, who had walked down behind him. "Get the cameras up and running. Get me a cup of caf. And bring the ysla...ysla… the lizard with ya," he ordered as he struggled to say the proper name of the lizards. He had done all that research on this place and learned even more about it on the way here, but he still couldn't say their damn names correctly.
"Yes, sir," G3 said before going back up the ramp.
Von smirked as he turned and headed for the temple. Once inside, he walked along a series of corridors before he reached his new office. He entered into a large throne room of some kind. At the fair end where the throne sat was a desk that was set up just for him to use to get work done. And on the wall nearby, was a series of monitors that would show the whole hunt going down. Von walked over to his throne and sat down in it with a relaxing sigh just as G3 entered with the lizard still in his cage.
"The droids have moved out," G3 informed him as the droid set the lizard down on his desk.
"Excellent."
G3 then walked over and started up the monitors. They each came on to reveal various different locations scattered across the place. Von kicked back in his throne, pulled out a cheroot to smoke, and grinned as he got comfortable for the show.
"It's showtime, Tex," he said to the lizard, who sat on the desk beside him.
