Madison slept like hours, dreaming a different dream. Her eyes were still closed and was trying to get comfy in a different position but on her face, she felt like a nose and it was sniffing at her. Madison slowly opened her eyes and slowly turned her head and saw something big with scales.
"Ah! No, get away from me!" Madison yelped and swatted the creature until it was off of her.
Madison quickly sat up and scoot away until she looks around. She was outside, in a forest and then looked at herself. She wasn't wearing her pajamas but a medieval-like outgoing outfit and a cloak. With her was a big satchel that is something to carry with.
'Could this be it? Am I in Shrek's world now?' she thought to herself until she looked at the creature.
It was a baby dragon with blue scales. He was curled in a ball, being scared as he looked at her. Madison stared at him, seeing that it was the creature who was sniffing at her. She felt bad for hitting him as she looks at him.
"I'm sorry I swatted you. You just scared me." she spoke as she opened her arms wide.
The dragon looked scared, still shaking as he stared at her.
"It's alright. I won't hurt you." she said softly but the dragon still won't come.
Madison looked at him, trying to think of how to gain his trust. She looked at her satchel and grabbed it as she opened it. Inside her bag was a sketch book with a pencil, some food and a knife. She spotted some meat that it looked cooked and grabbed it out which it was a ham sandwich. She took the ham out of the bread and show it to the baby.
"Come on. I got some ham. It's not much but I'm sure you'll eat it." she said as she breaks the ham into pieces and toss it to him.
The baby dragon looked at the ham and looked back at Madison. With one sniff from his snout and a small lick from his fork tongue, the dragon took the ham off of the ground and swallow it.
Madison smiled to see the dragon eating more ham off the ground while she tosses the pieces to him. Suddenly to her surprise, the baby slowly walked towards her and gently grabbed to ham off of her hand and swallow it.
"There you go. Now you're near me." Madison spoke softly as she was about to place her hand on his head.
The dragon flinched a little as he stared at her hand but as he looked at her eyes, seeing how innocent and gentle they are. He stretched his neck out a little and had his head touched her hand. Madison giggled as she heard him purr.
"There now. I'm not that bad right." she said as she gently picked him up.
She giggled as she felt his tongue licking her cheek and then looked at him.
"Where are you parents? Shouldn't you be with your family?" she asked but the dragon tilt his head down, and his eyes were in sadness.
"Your all alone then, huh?" she asked again, and the baby nod his head.
"So do I, until I team up and befriend with some people. But if you want, you can be with me, and you don't have to be alone." she said.
The baby dragon chirped happily and licks her again, causing her to laugh. But as she looked at him, she sees something familiar about him.
"You know... you remind me of a dragon that I've drawn for a while, and I did give it a name too. So, I'll give you the same name as I gave one to my drawing... Zor." she answered, and the dragon chirped.
"You like that don't you?" she said, and he chirped again, "I'm glad you do."
"Well then... let's start on your first journey with me." said Madison as she got up and carried her satchel on her back until she heard voices shouting.
The baby dragon, who is now named Zor, was shaking and then jumped into Madison's arms.
Both of them watched until she saw a donkey jumping out of the bushes and ran passes by.
'Could that be...?' she wondered but then turned as she heard more noises and saw guards coming by but stopped as they see her and Zor.
"You there! Ma'am!" a guard who was captain spoke as he was looking at the dragon.
"Yes...?"
"I am seeing that you are holding a dangerous creature. By order of Farquaad... all dragons must be taken down."
"Taken down? As in..." she looked down to see the baby.
"Yes. I suggest you hand the beast over to me."
Madison couldn't believe what she just heard and held the dragon close to him but glare at the guards.
"Over my dead body, you're not!" she yelled and quickly ran off with Zor in her arms.
"Get her!" the captain commanded.
Madison ran and ran as fast as she could as she carried Zor in her arms. Her legs started to grow tired and she was out of breath. She stopped to catch her breath until Zor chirped. Madison looked at the dragon but as she looked up... she saw a familiar ogre and a donkey.
"Whoa..." that was all she could say as she looked at the two but heard the guards.
"Hurry! This way!" the captain shouted.
Madison quickly ran towards the ogre and stood beside him until she saw the guards coming. They all stopped to see the ogre but not her, the dragon, or the donkey.
"You there. Ogre!" the captain spoke.
"Aye?" the ogre questioned.
"By the order of Lord Farquaad..." he said as he brought out a scroll, " I am authorized to place the four of you under arrest and... transport you to... a designated...resettlement...facility?"
The captain saw the ogre slowly approaches him and the group of guards, not noticing them being visibly frightened by him.
"Oh, really? You and what army?" he questioned.
The Captain looked behind himself and saw that all of the other guards have abandoned him. Madison, Zor and the donkey smiled and were impressed by the ogre's action. The captain tucks tail and runs off. Madison chuckled and Zor stuck his tongue at the guards while the ogre starts walking away leaving the two and the donkey.
Madison was about to thank the ogre but then she notices him leaving and thought it was rude to leave without saying a thank you until the Donkey follows him.
"Can I say something to you?" he asked as he walked behind him and Madison along with Zor started to follow them. "Listen, you were really, really, really somethin' back here. Incredible!"
"Are you talking to..." the ogre turned around to see the donkey but didn't see him except Madison and Zor, "me?"
The ogre turned around and was startled to see Donkey in front of him.
"Yes. I was talkin' to you." he said continue following him. "Can I tell you that you that you were great back there? Man, those guards! They thought they was all of that. Then you showed up and bam! They were trippin' over themselves like babes in the woods. That really made me feel good to see that."
"Oh, that's great. Really." the ogre spoke sarcastic as he looked annoyed.
"Man, it's good to be free."
"Now, why don't you go celebrate your freedom with your own friends or that girl with the small lizard? Hmm?" he asked and walked away.
Madison felt a bit offended.
'That girl with the small lizard? Of all the nerve!' she thought and she didn't let that get to her.
"But, uh, I don't have any friends. And I'm not goin' out there by myself. I don't know that girl and that lizard." said Donkey.
'That did it!' Madison was getting mad and burst, "Dragon! Dragon! Zor is not a lizard! Dragons don't do that tongue thing!"
Zor stuck is tongue out at him.
"Uh... sorry." Donkey apologized and thought of something as he looked at the ogre. "Hey, wait a minute! I got a great idea! I'll stick with you." he said and follow him.
"Hey, wait!" Madison quickly ran after him.
"You're a mean, green, fightin' machine. Together we'll scare the spit out of anybody that crosses us." said Donkey as he was close with the ogre.
The Ogre stops at his tracks, turned and regards Donkey for a moment. Before he roared loudly in his face, it did give Madison and Zor a bit of a scare but it's not that scary enough.
"Oh, wow! That was really scary." said Donkey.
"Scary indeed." said Madison and Zor chirped.
The ogre just looked at them and then walked away.
"If you don't mind me sayin', if that don't work, your breath certainly will get the job done, 'cause you definitely need some Tic Tacs or something, 'cause you breath stinks!" the donkey shouted.
Madison covered her mouth as she was trying not to laugh from what he said.
The ogre kept on walking until he saw Donkey again in front of him. Hanging upside down from a tree log.
"You almost burned the hair outta my nose, just like the time..." Shrek covers Donkey's mouth but Donkey continues to talk, so Shrek removes his hand. "...then I ate some rotten berries. I had strong gases leaking out of my butt that day."
"Why are you following me?" Shrek asked and continue to walk away.
"I'll tell you why." Donkey hopped off of the tree log and all of a sudden, he started to sing.
Donkey: Cause I'm all alone,
There's no one here beside me,
My problems have all gone,
There's no one to deride me,
But you gotta have friends...
"Stop singing!" Shrek yelled as he picked Donkey up by the ears and tail and then put him to the other side. "It's no wonder you don't have any friends,"
"Wow. Only a true friend would be that cruelly honest."
"Listen, little donkey. Take a look at me. What am I?"
Donkey, Madison, and Zor looked at the ogre. Donkey was confused but Madison knew the answer but can't say it.
"Uh... really tall?" Donkey questioned.
"No! I'm an ogre! You know, "Grab your torch and pitchforks." Doesn't that bother you all?" the ogre questioned.
"Nope." both Madison and Donkey answered.
"Really?"
"Really, really." the donkey replied, and Madison nod her head.
"Oh." that's all an ogre could say.
"Man, I like you. What's your name?" the Donkey asked.
"Uh, Shrek." he replied and walk away.
"Shrek?" Donkey question but decided to keep on following him along with Madison and Zor, "Well, you know what I like about you, Shrek? You got that kind of "I-don't-care-what-nobody-thinks-of-me" thing. I like that. I respect that, Shrek. You're alright."
As they come over a hill overlooking at a familiar place that Madison does recognize, which is Shrek's home in the Swamp.
'Wow...I don't believe it.' she thought.
"Whoa! Look at that. Who'd want to live in place like that?" Donkey questioned.
"That would be my home." Shrek answered and walked off.
The Donkey looked at him and spoke in defense, "Oh! And it is lovely! Just beautiful. You know you are quite a decorator. It's amazing what you've done with such a modest budget. I like that boulder. That is a nice boulder."
Madison smirked and shook her head as he looked at him but kept on following them.
As Shrek kept on walking to his house, Donkey, Madison & Zor looked at the "keep out" signs.
" I guess you don't entertain much, do you?" Donkey spoke.
"I like my privacy." the ogre replied.
Madison knew that feeling of when anyone wants privacy.
"You know, I do too. That's another thing we have in common. Like I hate it when you got somebody in your face. You're trying to give them a hint, and they won't leave. And there's that big awkward silence you know?" Donkey spoke.
Madison didn't know what to say next, when Shrek looks at Donkey in silence and it does feel very awkward.
"Not exactly what we've expected be to, Zor." she whispered, and Zor chirped.
"Can I stay with you?" Donkey asked to the ogre.
"Uh, what?"
"Can I stay with you, please?" he asked again politely.
"Oh! And us too? Me & Zor. Please." said Madison.
"Of course." Shrek spoke sarcastically.
"Really?" Donkey spoke.
"No."
"Please! I don't wanna go back there! You don't know what it's like to be considered a freak." Donkey pushes Shrek up against the door. "Well, maybe you do. But that's why we gotta stick together. You gotta let me stay! Please! Please!"
"Look, Zor and I will just camp here and tomorrow morning, we'll leave your property." said Madison.
"Okay! Okay! But one night only." said Shrek and then look at Madison and Zor, "You and your little pet can camp here for one night only."
"Ah! Thank you!" said Donkey and rushed inside the hut.
"Donkey!"
"What are you...No! No!" Shrek tried to stop as he saw Donkey hop on the chair.
"This is gonna be fun! We can stay up late, swappin' manly stories, and in the mornin'... I'm makin' waffles."
Shrek groaned as he was annoyed to see him in the house. Madison and Zor move back a bit as to think he'll outburst.
"Where do, uh, I sleep?" Donkey asked.
"Outside!" Shrek yelled as he was irritated.
"Oh, well, I guess that's cool. I mean, I don't know you, and you don't know me, so I guess outside is best, you know." Donkey sniffs and jumps off the chair. "Here I go." he said as he walks out of the house. "Goodnight."
Just as he finally got out, Shrek slams the door behind him, made Madison and Zor flinched.
"I mean, I do like the outdoors. I'm a donkey. I was born outside. I'll just be sitting by myself outside, I guess, you know. By myself, outside. I'm all alone...there's no one here beside me...
"Uh... Donkey. We're over here." said Madison.
Donkey look up to see Madison and Zor standing in front of them. "Oh."
