The group continued their journey to Duloc. They've been walking through a lot but do things like for Madison and Fiona doing some girl talk. Also, she asked the princess if she could teach some martial arts move.

Next moment was that they came across a stream. Sadly, there was no bridge or any steppingstones but all four watched Shrek climbed up a tree and made fall over it like a bridge. Madison and Zor were the first go across but jumped off the tree and watched Fiona go next. After crossing over, Fiona puts her hand along Shrek's back, cause him to smile and starting to get up. But once he did and got off of the tree, swings back into its upright position, Donkey fly off as he was on it.

Third moment as they kept going, Shrek and Madison were having problems with a bunch of mosquitos and flies, and they kept swatting. That really frustrates Maddie a lot like with a bunch of gnats. Thankfully, Fiona grabbed a branch that has a spider web and runs through the field, swinging it around to catch the bugs. As she was done, she swirls the web around and made it into a cotton candy-like and handed it to Shrek. While Shrek was eating it, Madison did notice that Fiona was licking her fingers of the web and flies.

Final moment, Shrek just caught a large frog nearby. He blew it into its mouth and tied around like a balloon. He was about to hand it Fiona until the two heard Madison exclaimed. Fiona turned to see Madison shaking as she saw a snake on a branch. Fiona grabbed the snake blows into its mouth. She fashions it into a balloon animal and presents it to Shrek. That calmed Madison down since Fiona took care of that. As the group kept on going, Madison watched Shrek and Fiona played around, bumping into each and ran as they let go of the balloons.

Finally, Madison looked to see the same windmill that she, Zor, Donkey, and Shrek walked pass from as they were heading to rescue Fiona until finally, they saw the castle of Duloc.

"There it is princess. Your future awaits you." Shrek said softly but felt dejected.

"That's Duloc?" Fiona asked as she looked at the place and Madison nod her head.

"Yeah, I know. You know, Shrek thinks Lord Farquaad's compensating for something, which I think means he has a really... Ow!" Donkey felt the pain on his hoof from when Shrek stepped on him to stop him.

"Um, I, uh... I guess we better move on." said Shrek and starts moving along with Madison and Zor.

"Sure." Fiona softly as she was about to walk but stopped, "But Shrek? I'm..I'm worried about Donkey." she which made everyone stopped as they looked at her, standing beside Donkey.

"What?" Shrek questioned.

"I mean, look at him. He doesn't look so good." said Fiona as she was acting concern.

"What are you talking about? I'm fine." said Donkey and Fiona kneel down to face her.

"That's what they always say, and then next thing you know, you're on your back... dead."

"You know, she's right. You look awful. Do you want to sit down?" Shrek asked.

"Maybe you should lie down." said Madison.

"Uh, you know, I'll make you some tea." said Fiona.

"I didn't want to say nothin', but I got this twinge in my neck, and when I turn my head like this, look," Donkey turns his neck in a very sharp way until his head is completely sideways, "Ow! See!"

Shrek and Fiona give each happy looks, having made up an excuse to spend more time together.

"Who's hungry? I'll find us some dinner." said Shrek.

"I'll get the firewood." said Fiona.

"I'll go with you, Fi." said Madison and all three left except Zor stood beside Donkey.

"Hey, where you goin'? Oh, man, I can't feel my toes!" Donkey looked down to see only his hooves, "I don't have any toes! I think I need a hug."

Zor stood beside Donkey and nuzzled on his side as he purrs.

As evening came, Shrek has built a fire and was cooking the rest of dinner while Fiona eats. Madison have already eaten something that was from her bag but looked at the view of Duloc and a field of sunflowers as she was petting her dragon. While she was looking and petting, she could hear the conversation of Shrek and Fiona.

"Mmm. This is good. This is really good. What is this?" the princess asked.

"Uh, weed rat. Rotisserie style." Shrek answered as he was still cooking until he was done and sat beside her.

"No kidding. Well, this is delicious."

"Well, they're also great in stews. Now, I don't mean to brag, but I make a mean weed rat stew." he chuckles.

Fiona looks at the Duloc Castle and sighs.

"I guess I'll be dining a little differently tomorrow night." she said.

"Maybe you can come visit me in the swamp sometime. I'll cook all kind of stuff for you. Swamp toad soup, fisheye tartare... you name it."

"I'd like that." she smiled.

Madison slowly turned her head and looked at the two, staring at each other and smiling but Shrek was a little nervous.

"Um...princess?" Shrek spoke.

"Yes...Shrek?"

"I, um, I was wondering...are you... uh..." Shrek tried to find the right words but sighs at he pointed at the weed rat, "Are you gonna eat that?"

Fiona, expecting a different question, removes the weed rat while Shrek is annoyed by the words that couldn't come out but as she hands it to him, Shrek grabs onto her hand and the two look at each other. Madison smiled at that moment but as they were about to slowly lean to each other, Donkey appeared in the middle.

"Man, isn't this romantic? Just look at that sunset." the donkey chuckled.

"Oh, Donkey!" Madison muttered as she shook her head.

"Sunset?! Oh, no! I mean, it's late. I-It's very late." said Fiona as she hopped off of the log and move back away.

"What?"

"Wait a minute. I see what's goin' on here." said Donkey as he looked at Fiona who has a worried look on her face, "You're afraid of the dark, aren't you?"

Fiona smiled in relief, "Yes! Yes, that's it. I'm terrified. You know, I'd better go inside."

"Don't feel bad, Princess. I used to be afraid of the dark, too, until... Hey, no, wait. I'm still afraid of the dark." said Donkey.

Shrek groans and Madison shook her head but looked at the princess as she already made it to the windmill door. She looked back and stared only at Shrek.

"Good night." she spoke to him.

"Good night." he replied until Fiona went inside.

Donkey looks Shrek with a new eye and understood what was happening.

"Ohh! Now I really see what's goin' on here."

"Oh, what are you talkin' about?" Shrek spoke as he sat back down but Madison just stood by the stairway of the windmill and watch.

"I don't even wanna hear it. Look, I'm an animal, and I got instincts. And I know you two were diggin' on each other. I could feel it."

"You're crazy. I'm just bringing her back to Farquaad."

"Oh, come on, Shrek. Wake up and smell the pheromones. Just go on in and tell her how you feel."

"I..." Shrek got up and look at him, "there's nothing to tell. Besides, even if I did tell her that, well, you know... and I'm not sayin' I do, 'cause I don't... she's a princess, and I'm..."

"An ogre?"

"Yeah. An ogre." he answered and starts walking off.

"Hey, where you goin'?"

"To get... more firewood." Shrek sigh and continued walking.

Both Madison and Donkey over at the firewood that were already piled up and looked back at Shrek as he sat on the hill and gazes out at Duloc until nightfall.

Madison still sat on the stairs, with Zor by her side, and watched over Shrek as he was still sitting on that hill. Her eyes were about to feel tired until she heard someone jumped behind her. The two looked to see Donkey who hopped on the steps and head towards the door.

"Donkey, what are you doing?" Madison asked.

"I just thought I go inside and see if the princess needs company. You know, make sure she's doing alright."

"I'm not so sure she'll like that."

"I'm sure she will." he said and opened the door.

"Donkey wait!" Madison got up and went up the stairs with Zor and they were behind Donkey.

"Princess?" Donkey spoke as all three entered but no answered and see that no one was in the windmill. "Princess Fiona?"

"Fi? I'm sorry we've entered but I tried to stop Donkey from entering but he wanted to make sure if you're doing alright." said Madison but no answer, "Fi?"

"Princess, where are you?" Donkey asked again.

Suddenly, they heard noises and all three look up to see bats flying out of the roof hole. Madison's heart was pounding.

"Princess?"

"Fi?"

All three kept looking until they heard creaking sounds.

"It's very spooky in here. I ain't playing no games." said Donkey.

Madison kept wondering around but she knew where she was hiding but she doesn't want to look until all three were startled as they heard something break. They turned around and saw that the platform broke and a figure fell on the sacks of flour. They looked at the figure and saw that was huge until Donkey starts freaking out and Zor was glaring at the figure, trying to hiss.

"No, no!" the voice that sound like Fiona came out of the shadows but it was a female ogre.

"Oh, no! Help!" Donkey cried out as Fiona tries to keep him quiet. "Shrek! Shrek! Shrek!"

"No, it's okay. It's okay." the ogress tries to calm her down.

"What did you do with the princess?!"

"Donkey, I'm the princess. It's me, in this body."

Madison looked at her. She was wearing the same dress and tiara that Fiona wore but she also remembered when the princess said that she was cursed. Madison knew who that ogress was.

"Oh, my God! You ate the princess." Donkey spoke and then shout to the ogress's stomach, "Can you hear me?!"

"Donkey!"

"Listen, keep breathing! I'll get you out of there!"

"No!"

"Shrek! Shrek! Shrek!"

"Donkey, wait! Calm down for a moment." said Madison until the ogress covered the donkey's mouth and looked at him.

"This is me." she spoke and gently pets him.

Zor was growling at him but as he sniffed the scent of the ogress, he looked at her as he smelled the familiar scent. Donkey muffled, try to call out Shrek but as he looked into her eyes as she pets his muzzle, he was calmed down as he sees that the ogress was Princess Fiona.

"Fi?" Madison spoke.

"Princess?" Donkey spoke as he looked at her, "What happened to you? You're, uh, uh, uh, different."

"I'm ugly! Okay!" said Fiona.

"Oh, don't say that, Fi." said Madison.

"Yeah, I mean... was it something you ate? 'Cause I told Shrek those rats were a bad idea. You are what you eat, I said. Now..."

"No! I... I've been this way as long as I can remember."

"What do you mean? Look, I ain't never seen you like this before."

"It only happens when sun goes down. Which I told Maddie about it this morning." said Fiona.

The princess looked at the barrel of water as she was seeing her reflection.

"By night one way, by day another. This shall be the norm... until you find true love's first kiss... and then take love's true form." she said as Madison, Donkey, and Zor looked at her.

"Ah, that's beautiful. I didn't know you wrote poetry." Donkey smiled.

"It's a spell!" the princess snapped but sigh, "When I was a little girl, a witch cast a spell on me. Every night I become this. This horrible ugly beast!" Fiona looked at the water reflection in frustration and splash it away. "I was placed in a tower to await the day my true love would rescue me. That's why I have to marry Lord Farquaad tomorrow before the sun sets and he sees me like this."

Madison looked at the princess as she sat down on the edge of the miller and cried. She sat beside her, had her hands on the princess's shoulders and try comforting her.

"All right, all right. Calm down. Look, it's not that bad. You're not that ugly. Well, I ain't gonna lie. You are ugly. But you only look like this at night. Shrek's ugly 24/7." said Donkey.

"But Donkey, I'm a princess, and this is not how a princess is meant to look." Fiona sobbed.

"Princess, how 'bout if you don't marry Farquaad?"

"I have to. Only my true love's kiss can break the spell."

"But, you know, um, your kind of an ogre, and Shrek... well, you got a lot in common."

"Shrek?" Fiona questioned as she looked at Donkey.

"Yeah, I mean... the way we see you and Shrek together... well, let's just say that he... well, let's just say there's a spark between you two." said Madison.

"She's right, you know. I mean we saw you two talking and laughing..."

"Maybe, Shrek is your true love. I'm sure that you want to marry him." she said, and Zor chirped in agreement.

"Yeah." Donkey agrees with her too.

"But guys..." Fiona looked at two and Zor, "I can't just marry whoever I want. Take a good look at me. I mean, really, who can ever love a beast so hideous and ugly? "Princess" and "ugly" don't go together. That's why I can't stay here with Shrek."

Madison knew the words and looked at the door. She knew that Shrek is by the door hearing the conversation and felt heartbroken.

"My only chance to live happily ever after is to marry my true love. Don't you see, guys? That's just how it has to be. It's the only way to break the spell." said Fiona.

"You at least gotta tell Shrek the truth." said Donkey as he hops off and head towards the door.

"No!" Fiona exclaimed, "You can't breathe a word. No one must ever know."

"What's the point of being able to talk if you gotta keep secrets?"

"Promise you won't tell. Promise!"

"All right, all right. I won't tell him. But you should." said Donkey as he exits and then talked to himself, "I just know before this is over, I'm gonna need a whole lot of serious therapy. Look at my eye twitchin'."

Madison watched Fiona as she was at the doorway, watching Donkey leave but went back inside as she held a sunflower in her hand. Madison sigh as she looked at her necklace and then look back at Fiona.

"You, know Fi. You're not the only one who kept a secret." she said as she looked at her, "You've told me your secret, now I should tell you mine."

Fiona looked at her for a moment but as she looked at the necklace, her eyes went wide.

"That necklace!"

Madison looked at her in shock.

"Wait! You've seen this before?" she asked.

"Yes. Back at my home, before I start living in that tower, I've hearing stories about two girls who came from different worlds and save the land of OZ from a witch. We all heard of one who wears the magic slippers and the other wore a necklace. I've seen pictures of what they look like and now I'm seeing the one you're wearing."

Madison backed up a bit but sat down at the miller in shock. Zor looked at her but looked curiously at the necklace.

"The girl who wore the necklace was you? Are you one of the saviors of OZ?" Fiona asked.

"Well... I didn't hear anyone call me a savior before. But yes, I am the girl, and the necklace was given to by Glinda the Good Witch. When she gave it to me, at first it was Emerald but now it turned sapphire. She told me that there are powers in the necklace but never told me what they are until I discover some throughout my adventures."

Fiona stood beside her and looked at the necklace.

"I can't believe this." she said and looked at her. "If you are the savior then, maybe you can help me out on this spell."

"To be honest with you Fi, I don't know about the spell. But I should tell you this. If I was your fairy godmother or something, my gift for you would be a choice."

"A choice?" Fiona questioned.

"On what your heart tells you. It may be impossible but try listening to it."

"I... I don't know."

"This is like your story, choose your own path." said Madison until she let out a yawn.

"I think... you should rest here." said Fiona as she smooth Madison's back.

"You sure about having company?"

"I don't mind. After all, I do trust you." said Fiona.

Madison smiled to her friend and lie down on the sacks with Zor by her said. As Fiona watched her sleep, she let out a sigh and looked at the flower but remembering what Madison and Donkey's words were.
