CHAPTER ONE
THE DARK LORD'S FALL
"HARRY POTTER IS DEAD"
"NO!"
Ginny ran forward as fast as she could, as Mr Weasley attempted to hold her back. Voldemort shot a silencing spell at the crowd, and they all fell quiet. "SILENCE! Stupid girl. Harry Potter is dead. From this day forth, you put your faith, in me," he said with an evil grin. The crowd looked around at each other in fear. Grave faces stared back at them, as they took in the Dark Lord's words, and then over to the limp body in Hagrid's arms. At the front of the crowd, Draco Malfoy stood, staring straight at the Dark Lord's deep scarlet eyes.
"Draco! Draco, come!" exclaimed Lucius Malfoy, hoping for his family to re-unite under the Dark Lord.
Draco thought back to the previous day, where the late Professor Severus Snape had tried to teach him a 'very important life lesson' about how there is no reason to hate muggle-borns, and now that Draco thought about it, he realized he never really had a justified reason for hating them. He just did what his father told him to do. Draco decided there was only one way to find out the truth. He stepped forward, as Professor McGonagall suddenly had a look of failure on her face. But that look disappeared, when Draco stopped, just a few meters ahead of everyone else.
"Why the hesitation, young Malfoy?" asked the Dark Lord.
Draco looked over at his father, who suddenly looked desperate, as Draco parted his lips.
"Why do you hate muggle-borns Father?" asked Draco, and a gasp escaped the mouths of everyone in the crowd. Even Harry Potter nearly gave himself away, but the sounds of everyone else hushed his voice.
Lucius suddenly had a very angry look upon his face. "How dare you question blood purity in front of me? -"
"SHUT UP AND ANSWER THE QUESTION!" Draco exclaimed. Voldemort was finding this conversation very entertaining.
"I hate them because they don't deserve their magic. Give me one reason why Mudbloods aren't inferior to us," Lucius asked his stupid son.
Draco smiled. "Give me one reason why they are," he retorted. "Did you happen to notice that the brightest which of our age is Muggle-born? Hermione Granger was the top student all through our school years. Yet for whatever reason, I decided to listen to you and bully her and Potter all through school," he said with anger in his voice. "You ruined me!"
Lucius growled. "What happened to you. Why do you suddenly love those disgusting vile creatures?" asked Lucius, even though he knew his son was right.
Harry was struggling to believe the situation. Malfoy was actually joining their side?
"I changed. For the better or for the worse, that'll be my decision. But so far, I reckon I've got a better life than you. How often has your creature of a lord tortured you?" asked Draco.
"How dare you insult- "
"I'LL INSULT AS MANY PSYCOPATHS AS I WANT, AND YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT," exclaimed Draco.
The Dark Lord had enough. "Silence! Young Malfoy, you have wronged your parents in a way even I would never have predicted. But you can still come back. I'm giving you one last chance. The Boy Who Lived is finished! You have no chance left against me. But Draco laughed.
"I reckon I know Potter enough to know he's immortal," said Draco, with striking confidence. "And if you can hear me Potter, I want you to forgive me for everything I ever did to you."
Dammit Draco, you had to give me away, didn't you?
But the Dark Lord simply laughed. "Don't kid yourself, young Malfoy. No one died for him. He was hit with the Avada Kedavra curse. He has no chance of living," said Voldemort. But even as he said that, Harry felt Hagrid slowly leaning in to Harry's chest, and almost cried out loud when he heard a heartbeat. "Not now Hagrid," whispered Harry. "Wait for the right moment."
From the crowd came a sudden cry, as Neville Longbottom ran out with the Sorting Hat in his hand, and his wand in the other hand. "CONFRINGO!" exclaimed Neville, as he fired a curse towards the snake Nagini. The spell rebounded off the snake and hit Lucius Malfoy squarely in the chest. Draco gasped in shock, as his father exploded into a thousand pieces.
Lord Voldemort cast a shield charm in front of Neville, who then fell to the ground.
"And who might you be, young man?" asked Voldemort.
Bellatrix laughed maniacally. "He's Mr Longbottom. The son of the Aurors, my Lord," she explained. "Tell me, little boy. How do your parents feel right now?" she said crazily. Neville let out a cry of anger. "BETTER NOW THAT THEY'RE ABOUT TO BE AVENGED," he exclaimed. And he shot another Confringo curse at Bellatrix, who deflected it like a bit of paper.
Lord Voldemort laughed. "But you are a Pureblood, young man. You would make a fine Death Eater- "
"I'LL JOIN YOU WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER!" exclaimed Neville. "DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY!" A loud cry rang in the courtyard, as all the Hogwarts students erupted with the words "DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY!"
Draco was actually surprised that Longbottom had this sort of courage within him.
Voldemort was annoyed at losing control, and cast another silencing spell on the crowd, who instantly fell quiet. "Enough! You have no reason to object to my reign. The Boy Who Lived is dead. No one else can dare to challenge my power!" exclaimed the Dark Lord.
"You know, Tom. Considering you were in Slytherin, I am personally embarrassed that you don't have the brain power to realise that Gryffindors can be a pain in the backside. I assure you, Potter's alive," said Draco, still shocked from his father's sudden departing.
"BELLA! Go and see if the Gryffindor prat is dead or not," exclaimed Voldemort. Dammit Malfoy. Harry suddenly jumped out of Hagrid's arms, and a cry of relief swept through the crowd. "POTTER!" Malfoy exclaimed, as he threw his own wand towards Harry, who caught it in his outstretched hand. Neville Longbottom then extracted the Sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat and swung it through the head of the snake Nagini. The snake's head flew off, and the final Horcrux was destroyed.
"POTTER! BEHIND YOU!" exclaimed Malfoy.
Harry turned around just in time to block a curse from Voldemort, who was still shocked that Potter could have survived.
"It's over Tom. Your Horcruxes are all destroyed," said Harry calmly.
Voldemort laughed. "You think yourself stronger than me? I am the most powerful wizard in the world. And now, with the power of the Elder Wand, I shall kill you," the Dark Lord exclaimed.
"No, you're not. Albus Dumbledore was the greatest wizard in the world,"
"I brought about his death - "
"No, you didn't. You thought you did, but his death was planned between him and an old student," said Harry.
"What are you sayi - "
"Dumbledore planned to have the Elder Wand's power die with him. And so, he asked his old friend, whom you thought was on your side, kill him in order to save the power from you. But that plan didn't work,"
"Who are you - "
"Severus Snape was never your man, Tom. He was Dumbledore's from the moment you threatened my mother. My muggle-born mother, whom Snape loved for his entire life. Snape never defeated Dumbledore, and so the Elder Wand never belonged to him," explained Harry.
"But then he as good as gave me the wand, Potter,"
"No, he didn't. You never learn do you, Tom. The wand chooses the wizard. The Elder Wand recognized a new master.. Someone disarmed Dumbledore before he died," said Harry.
The crowd hushed as they realized what he was saying. And Draco felt an uncomfortable number of stares on him.
"Draco Malfoy was the true master of the Elder Wand," said Harry, and Voldemort froze, but in the next instant he straightened himself up and spoke.
"No matter. After I defeat you, I will attend to Draco Malfoy," said Voldemort confidently.
"But you're too late. I disarmed Draco weeks ago. So, the only question is; Does the wand know it's last master was disarmed? Because if it does, then I am the master of the Elder Wand," said Harry.
And Draco knew what was going to happen before it did. Lord Voldemort raised his wand, intending to end his rival's life, and Harry did the same, as they recited their spells.
"Avada Kedavra"
"Expelliarmus"
The two spells met in mid-air and a golden string of light appeared in the middle, slowly drifting towards Voldemort's wand. And at last, it made contact, and the Elder Wand flew up towards Harry, who caught it with his Seeker enhanced accuracy. And Lord Voldemort's body began losing shape, distorting and bits of his skin breaking off, and floating into the distance, as the Dark Lord slowly but surely left the mortal world.
