Hi
Just a heads up, everyone, I'm still debating on a title for this story, so it may change through writing this.
Naruto x Maka
I own nothing
A reversed Kishin? Could the possibilities for a Kishin be born with the opposite aspects of the first and only Kishin? While the knowledge of truth around the first Kishin is tightly locked behind Death's lips, the possibility could become a reality. Asura is the embodiment of Death's Madness once he declares himself a god. Already unstable and filled with fear and insanity, could that be the reason? That a Kishin is nothing more than a Weapon and Meister soul reaching a level of godhood where their soul effects all around?
A prophecy of a single person leading to the saving or dooming of this world, Jiraiya believes fully that this is what Naruto will become and is sure he will save this world. One would need incredible power and influence to do either, so considering what strength a Kishin held, would it be possible for a positive Kishin to be born? Rather than madness, his soul would cause sanity.
Only time will tell, time under his watchful eye.
Death existed to see how this boy handled his first mission. Death picked out his mission and had Akane Hoshi and his weapon Clay Sizemore. DWMA's strongest dup, talented in every way. The three are heading for Northern California to hunt down someone calling himself the Zodiac Killer. Jackson Willaims is the soul the boy will eat. He always wondered why they named and identified themselves with old serial killers.
Mirror shimmering, he began watching Uzumaki Naruto stumbling off the plane that landed safely. Death wouldn't lie; he's excited to see what comes from this.
"Fuck those things!" Said blond roared, crouching against a wall and holding in whatever was in his stomach. Hell, he just went through hell. That metal thing is nothing but suffering.
"Want me to hold your hair?" Clay Sizemore, a greatsword demon weapon, asked with a shit-eating grin. The older weapon is having a great time watching, and the younger weapon suffers.
"Eat shit and die." Naruto hissed, stepping off the puke-covered wall.
"Don't feel bad, first time flying is never easy." Akane Hoshi is an overserious ass hole. How could Uzumaki Naruto know this fact? Because he looks like a particular overserious ass hole, he knows. "Let's go find a place to sit and eat and plan on our hunt tonight."
"I could get a coffee, Starbucks?" Clay spoke as Naruto just looked lost.
"Wait, why tonight and not now?" Wouldn't finding the guy eating people's souls be a do now, not later type of thing?
"Kishin eggs are stricken by madness, many losing their physical forms and mental stability. To a point being in the sun causes them to panic." Akane explained that while it's never stated in any book, Kishin eggs all share the same aspects of their insanity. Fear of the sun and affinity to the moon and night is one of those.
Possible an aspect passed down since the first Kishin itself.
"So, like, why is madness so bad? Mean, I fought some crazy people myself, but you guys act like it's different than being mad." Why are insanity and Madness such a replaying theme with these people?
"Have you read the school's textbooks yet?" The two more experienced students stopped to stare at the younger boy, surprised by such a question.
"Not really," Naruto blushed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. "I still can't read English that well." It's the truth, and he learned to speak the language swiftly enough; reading, on the other hand, is entirely different.
"Madness is more than an emotion or a state of mind. It's a force; we all have large or small amounts of madness; it's a driving force of action and thought." Akane explained once more.
"You know those inner thoughts in your head, like punching a baby for crying?" Clay asked, seeing the gears in the kid's head still turning. "Madness makes you act on those thoughts, and the problem is when a soul becomes powerful, they form a madness wavelength inflicting the souls around them with madness. Becomes like an air-born sickness." A more straightforward explanation that helped the boy understand. "Most with a madness wavelength seek out innocent souls because the more souls they devour stranger they become."
"Is there like the opposite of a madness wavelength," Naruto asked, recalling his sensei's words, how when shinobi become stronger and stronger, they become more like Zabuza and lose themselves. Were they being affected by madness?
"The closest I know of is the Anti-Demon Wavelength, it's rare, but the person can purge dark energies from their surroundings and people. Madness, magic, but only three people are alive today with such a wavelength. The death scythe in Russia, his meister, and Makas' mother." Akane retook the explanation, and he couldn't lie and wondered why this was so interesting in Naruto's curiosity.
"Maka? The pig-tailed blond?" He perked up hearing her name.
"Very same, talented girl." She has his respect, and all Meisters should aim to be like her. Himself, too.
"She needs to learn to chill out; the girl is always in her studies." Clay yawned out, glad they finally reached a Starbucks; he needed a damn coffee.
"I've met her once or twice," Well, the image of her at the hot springs hadn't left his mind; he didn't know why. He used to talk to women under his sexy jutsu in hot springs. What made Maka so different? "Cute girl."
"I suppose so, too young for Clay and I. It means anything she's single; her favorite book store is Deaths' literature collection." It's his personal preferred book store as well; Maka goes there once a day.
"Thanks," Naruto blushed, seeing the older boy smile. Maybe he's not so bad after all.
"Bros gotta help the bros," Clay spoke smiling. "If you're interested in her, talk about a book, and don't say anything too stupid. Now whatcha want, I'll pay." Smiling, Clay wrapped his arm across the boy's shoulder. Blue eyes narrowed, not able to read anything on that board. "Want what I want?" They both say the strange confused look appeared out of nowhere.
"Sure," After ten minutes, the three had a map on a table, drinks, and food half gone.
"Shouldn't we be more secretive about this?" Important information is on this table; strangely, anyone can just come over and look.
"Something like this, not really; people are aware of us and tend not to bother us." Most people stay away; it's common knowledge that Death is what follows them. "Now, research is possible the most important aspect of our hunts." Akane began pointing out every black x symbol within a massive red circle of their city.
"Most Kishin eggs that begin base their persona off infamous killers. This one is basing himself on the Zodiac killer, within the same town, within some pattern. All adult women of different ages follow the Zadiact ironically. Some Kishin eggs' souls become stronger, having abilities somewhat like us. I'm assuming he can identify a birth month by our souls." He began pointing out x's marked on the map of the town. Each one is a middle-aged woman born from January to September. All within a circle, each one following that of a clock formation.
"Now we bring each location a body was found. If we meet a center point the same distance, we land here. The old home of the first victim of the original Zodiac killer."
"Figuring everything out like always." Clay smiled at his self-proclaimed genius of a Meister. Naruto himself smiled; if he was right, he might rival Shikamaru's genius level.
"It's not too impressive; I've been aware of this hunt for days now." Lord Death appointed them all to this one task. "Now, Clay and I will watch you finish your hunt." It's all a test for the young boy.
"Alright," They both watched the boy stuff every crumb in his mouth before chasing it down with whatever was in the cup. Then he just vanished, leaving them both sitting there, lost.
"Did he just vanish?" Clay asked, staring at the chair, waving his hand around and staring at the empty chair.
"He took the map; when?" They both swiftly discovered the difference between them all. As they stood lost at Starbucks, the ninja returned to somewhat similarity. He was leaping across house tops at speeds no ordinary human could ever hope to travel, outpassing most of these cars and trucks. Reading maps is part of being a Shinobi; learning a landscape is best from a high point where one can view the horizon.
With that knowledge and overall speed, it didn't take long to reach the target's house. Broken street filled with nothing but shit and rubble. This is far worse than anything he has ever seen before.
"Only if I had a paper bomb," He mumbled, somewhat disappointed that he could blow the house up and call in good. Instead, he walked up to the front door and kicked the door in.
He regretted this the second he did. The smell of rot smacked his senses; holding in his vomit, he almost failed to keep his guard. Gore, shit, and piss make the air in the building toxic. Covering his mouth and nose, he pushed through the terrible place; it's clear someone lives here. Every three steps he took, a trap was hidden, relatively easy to seeāthe only areas not covered in filth.
"I know you're there; come to deliver an October baby!" He yelled clearly in any corner he could see, trying his best not to be distracted, but he would lie, saying he wasn't. The drawings on the floor, walls, and roof are nothing but terrible imaging of rape and murder. He felt his blood boil and that charka mixed in with his own. Kyubi might be more disgusted, but he has never killed a person before. It was taxing his focus, the worry of taking a human life.
Stopping at the stares leading to the basement, he did what any intelligent person like his would; he threw a right hook, arm turning into a bladed chain; hearing the thump of metal stabbing into the wood, his entire body shimmered in bright light. Entirely transformed, the chain weapon becomes shrinking into itself. Finally, returning to normal at the end of the stare case.
He loves his headband; a knife stabbed into the plate, lighting the small place with sparks. At that moment, Uzumaki Naruto viewed something lacking in all humanity. Becoming a Kishin Egg means losing all that makes you human; the man before him is nothing but skin and bones. Strange and insanity-filled marks were carved into his very skin, bleeding heavy, covered in his facility, screaming nothing but jibberish.
The pitch black basement filled with light, and in that single second, the fight ended. Nine chains short from his arm, ripping through the eggs skull, heart, and lungs. In a single moment, the battle was won. He was leaving nothing but a red ball floating in the air. This is a soul, a hand-sized little ball; from what he understood, they're generally blue, and when someone devourers a human soul, they become what rests in his hands right now.
Breathing in, he did what these 'weapons' of Death strive to do. He swallowed his first Kishin egg. A nearly tasteless thing, devouring it in a single gulp felt more wrong than anything. He even left his throat sour, but he couldn't lie. He felt different, and it's clear he was more substantial than before; he couldn't describe it. The best similarity would be when he taps into Kyuubi's chakra.
Leaving the building, he danced across the rooftops landing back on the chair he sat with the two older boys. The same two are still sitting at the coffee shop, drinking and chatting up the local girls.
"Done, he's dead." When he landed, it wasn't normal; standing center of the backrest of his chair, he made an entrance most will remember.
"Truly?"
"It's been a minute? No way you're that fast!" Clay spoke in pure disbelief, a minute to travel across the city to kill a man than travel back. No way he could travel that fast; that has to be teleportation!
"We'll call Shinigami-sama," Naruto watched; he pulled out a phone and breathed on the screen before writing a set of numbers. Like magic before them all, Death introduced himself with that goofy attitude he was fond of.
"Congrats, congrats! Great job eating your first soul, Naru!" The god himself sang, clapping, even he found amused seeing the irritation clearly shown.
"Holy shit, he did kill it," Clay mumbled, Death having all soul-devouring records.
"That must be a record of some sort."
"Very much so, have fun on your way back! See you!" Death yelled before the call ended there. Two weren't too happy with that news, Naruto having to fly again and Clay for leaving so early. Not able to discover if California girls are worth it in the end.
Back within the walls of Death City, Jiraiya hummed in thought, hearing the news before the four. Death, himself, Spirit and Stein are fresh from the recent mission the two failed in.
"A Meister and Demon sword within a body of black blood that can harden and be used as a weapon is interesting. You said this girl cut into Soul?" Spymaster, a lot to figure out. Jiraya has a lot to catch up on, a sinking feeling a self-called master is playing school nurse.
"Across the chest, yes, he would have died if we didn't arrive in time."
"Hmm, we need to keep an eye on him; it may be possible that black blood will also become part of him. However, is anyone aware of this nurse leaving every so often?" He still wasn't too sure about a few people here. The nurse that leaves the city every few days before reappearing is a red flag.
"Medusa?" Spirit already sounded heartbroken.
"Yes, besides vanishing, including during this witch's discovery, but the items she possesses. When was she hired?" Records didn't add up, missing dates and times. Unless under a watchful eye understand what they must look for would never notice.
There was a pause from Spirit and Death, Stein unable to speculate on the matter. He and Jiraiya began together, but that silence was something to worry about.
"The problem is she just appeared in the last two months. Records kept that a school nurse has no need to know, and the shocking amount of snake venom mixed with everything she has is worrisome. I truly believe she is the witch you fought. The question is, why is she here?" A spymaster will not be undone, for he has already discovered a spider under their noses in the little time they're here.
A decision will be made, but not now. Now they watch the woman and discover what she's doing in their house. Jiraiya didn't agree; keeping such a threat alive in their walls was something he would never agree to. Danzo, even Orochimaru, has learned his lesson a hundred times over. He knew this would end terribly, but he listened and followed his directions under strict orders.
Not within sending Kosuke with a message to Naruto. He will make sure they will act when the time comes.
For his student, Soul Evans's injury wasn't more than a sting of pity, vanishing as soon as it began. An injury had always been reinsurance within his life and those around him. Soul will live and fight again, and that's the best news they could hear.
At the moment, there are more significant issues, this sense of growth he felt and the alarming truth of this school nurse. Finding empty hallways, even for a moment, Naruto performed a summon of his own.
When the smoke cleared, a tiny little toad saluted him with pure loyalty and determination within his little eyes. Naruto spoke in his native tongue and finally noticed how better it felt. With a single instruction to follow by Maka Albern, the small toad finished into her surroundings.
If Medusa had the same interest in Soul for this Black Blood, imagining Maka connecting her soul with Soul would cause a problem.
"I should check on her." Speaking to no one, the Meister/weapon made his way through the hall, not caring where his legs carried him. School here is rather bizarre, classes all day, three days a week, while four was spent hunting and killing. As his thoughts fell into a spin of worries and questions for himself, he didn't even notice; he walked straight for the girl on his mind for weeks.
"Hey Naruto," His thoughts shattered, finally escaping into reality; he stared down at the girl on his mind. Maka Albarn is sitting outside the nurse's office, red-eyed with legs pulled into her chest.
Her anti-demon Wavelength, could that be what's been causing this?
"I guess you heard?" She asked, feeling torn about everything happening.
"Yeah," Standing by her side Naruto leaned his head against the wall resting his eyes. "How are you holding up?" There was a pause before he was finally answered.
"Better than Soul," It's eating her.
"I don't think so,?" Stepping before the girl, he bent down with open hands. "Souls' like Black Star and me, no matter what, always bounce back. Just give him a week or two. I'm more worried about you. So, Maka Albern, how are you doing?"
