Pairing Charlus/Dorea Black, Arcturus/Melania Harry/? (There will likely be a vote on my Facebook page for the pairing)

My Child

Chapter 1

Charlus sighed tiredly, rubbing at his temples, he so hated doing this part of the running of the estate. He longed for the days where he and Dorea could just take off to the corners of the world and enjoy themselves. Regretfully, they couldn't remain young forever…and along with losing their families, their estates precariously close to collapsing the aches and pains of old age begun to set in. That and he had to make sure the estate ran smoothly, he had too many people relying on him.

'Paperwork' he groused, as he continued to work, half an hour later he found himself staring at a picture. It was a picture of James (his nephew) with his parents. Charlus' own brother, and sister-in-law who had passed away just a year before his nephew. A pang of sadness suffusing him, as he waved at him, beaming happily, at the camera unaware of their own fate. "Oh, Mont," he was glad his brother had gone first…they'd adored the ground James walked on – a bit too much if you asked him – but James had been very much a late but miracle child. They would have been inconsolable with the loss of their only son.

His office was surrounded by pictures of his family, one of his baby, a son, who hadn't survived a week after being born premature. Their little Leo Charlus Potter. Three of the pictures were of James and his wife Lily and their son Harry James Potter. He knew of course, that Harry was meant to come to him, they had signed the will, which had conveniently not been read. They weren't even sure a copy of it had survived. They didn't need to wonder where it could have gone.

Four years, four years they had been searching for Harry to no success.

Damn Dumbledore to hell, uncomfortable with the pang of fear he felt just thinking about the old fool. The Black-Potter family had connections, probably just as many as Dumbledore did, but admittedly not as trusted, which left Dumbledore with the upper hand. Especially with how much control he had over the Minister and thus the government itself. He would have been in awe of the move, it was a smart one, if it wasn't directly affecting himself and his wife.

"Char! Char!" Dorea called out, and Charlus jumped out of his skin, wand out he was out the office door and half way down the hallway before realized that her voice hadn't sounded scared. No, his wife sounded quite excited.

"Is everything alright?" Charlus asked his wife, approaching her and kissing her lovingly, rubbing her back absently. They may have been married for years, but their love was still as strong as it had been back then. His wife just got more and more beautiful as she aged, and he made sure to tell her that, often.

"Marius found him," Dorea choked out, "My brother actually found him." the family had thrown Marius out in disgrace when they realized he was a squib. She'd been only ten when they' done that, the moment she married Charlus she began writing to him. After all, if she was disowned from the family now, it wouldn't affect her. Charlus had half his share of the Potter estate (which was vast on its own) luckily Lord Potter had loved both sons similarly and split the estate equally. Fleamont was heir so he did gain first shot at Lordship, which he had taken. James hadn't had any interest in it though, the seat was being presided over by Dumbledore much to Charlus' ire. There was nothing they could do unless they wished to reveal themselves. Or so they had been telling themselves for the last four, long, long years.

It wasn't something they want to do until they had Harry, at the least. They feared what Dumbledore might do to Harry should they reveal they were very much alive before they had the child safe. Dumbledore had plans for Harry…and they truly believed that Dumbledore would kill anyone that got in the way of that. His poor nephew had been too far entrenched in Dumbledore to see him for who he really was. Fleamont too. Though family always came first, Fleamont had actually listened to him but James…well, you weren't suppose to speak ill of the dead, the silly lad hadn't had a chance to grow up.

Charlus stared at his wife, as if he wasn't comprehending the words she'd spoken. "I thought Marius said if he hadn't found him when he was three or four that it would be impossible…" sagging in disbelief, taking a seat at the dining room table. Mostly due to the fact that Muggles put their children into nurseries which was the gateway to primary schools then secondary schools.

Dorea nodded, "It would normally be the case he said, thinking they were using magic to conceal him. When they didn't put him in any nursery, but they've put him down for school. He's registered at a Primary school in London. He personally went there himself to see, the child has a lightening bolt scar upon his forehead." Lips pursing at that, first thing she'd be doing was healing that, imagine leaving the results of an attack across a child's face to be forever remembered.

"Are you prepared for the hell we'll bring down upon ourselves?" Charlus asked, his tone firm, as he places his hand over his wife's.

"Please, haven't you heard? We're dead dear," Dorea said with a vicious smirk, grey eyes gleaming, proving she a Black through and through.

Charlus laughed a little, his beautiful bloodthirsty wife, "Very well then," Charlus declared, "Shaw?"

"Breakfast now, Master?" Shaw asked, after popping in, ready to get to work.

"Not for us," Charlus declared, excitement thrumming through him, "Air out the heir room, Harry Potter is finally coming home, where he belongs." With family. He would not let Muggles raise the next Lord of the Potter family.

"Has Arcturus had breakfast yet?" Dorea asked the House-elf, usually they did feed Arcturus first before bringing them breakfast. The House-elves were taking very good care of her first cousin, who was unfortunately, in some sort of coma, or comatose. None of the healers could tell them why, couldn't rouse him, they could only speculate that it was 'some sort of unknown spell perhaps' they had paid for the best of the best to no success.

"Yes, Lady Dorea, Master Arcturus has been fed," Shaw nodded eagerly, he had been brought in for that very purpose, since that's where his speciality lay. "I will have Sunny air out the room, Master Charlus!" the thought of having a child in the house, to care for, was exciting. It had been a long time since any of the House-elves had been around a child, they made a house a home.

"Shall we, my love?" Charlus asked, standing up, offering his wife his arm, a charming roughish grin on his face. The very same one that Dorea insisted she'd fallen in love with as a teenager.

Dorea smiled fondly, "Let's," she declared, hand in hand they left.

They were largely unaware of the condition they'd find heir Potter in, and it would cause a backlash so huge that Dumbledore couldn't hope to contain it, or emerge with his reputation intact. Whether his actions would take his freedom as well…remains to be seen.

A/N – well, you're wish is my command 😊 someone asked me to write it so I decided to do so, which is odd I don't usually do prompts or story suggestions since I've got to be passionate about the muses myself, full stop. The pairing as of yet are undecided…but I think it will be another rare paring 😉 which means Rabastan and Marcus are out since I have a story with those pairings already 😊 so other suggestions are welcomed! Also, this is going to be a world building story, so the pairing when and if it comes…is going to take a long, long time to let me just say whatever the pairing SLOW BURN! Glacial, think the Contract, I guess...so suggestions on pairings? R&R
