Hello People of Fanficion!

This is one of the hardest chapters I've ever written, it's an origin story, and I'm really not used to writing this type of stories, Origin stories require a deep understanding of a character's motives and also it requires flawless storytelling, and I don't believe I'm good at either of them, lmao.

But I tried my best and I hope you like this one.

It's a two-parter origin story for Voccak (in this chapter, he will have a totally different name) who is going to be super important for this story, This is part 1, Part 2 will be published as soon as I finish writing it.

I hope you enjoy and Don't forget to review afterwards, Please.

Have a good read :)

Voccak

It was in the heat of battle that he realized.. he needed his family, he's always been looking for family, even when he was chief, even when he was just a normal human being, with normal dreams, before he sold his soul to the devil, he found solace in the touch of the devil, as he found no other family but him.

His name wasn't even Voccak, that's the name of his latest host, his original name was Zirrok, he had two brothers, a mother and a father, they all lived on the back of a giant Lion Turtle, before they decided to take the risk and go into the wilderness, to find themselves a place in the new world that was created by a human called Wan, when that human came to visit them in their homeland on the lion turtle, he inspired courage in them, and so they decided to go out and into the wilderness to live their lives away from the protection of the lion turtle, after taking the element of water from the turtle of course.

Voccak, or Zirrok, along with his family built themselves a house in the south pole, the people that left the lion turtle built a town there, they didn't have a name for it so they just called it the southern watertribe, Zirrok was a happy child, he went out with his father and his two elder brothers to hunt every day, they lived on hunting, they got water from lakes all around them, the only issue was that the temperature was very cold, but as they lived there, they started getting used to it, especially after they learned how to use animal skin and fur to sew clothes, it also gave them the ability to make comfortable beds, and also they learned to use their waterbending to make ice houses instead of the tents that they were living in when they came.

they learned all these things in the span of four months, they adapted to their new life, and they loved every single moment of it.

but Alas, trouble always finds its way to them, as unbeknown to the people of this small tribe, the south pole that they were residing on is one of the two closest places to the spirits, and during that time, the evil spirit had just escaped the clutches of the spirit of light, for the first four months, nothing happened, until that fateful day that Voccak, or Zirrok, will never forget.

That day.. that everything changed.

He was a mere twelve year old boy, going out with his friend to the wilderness, they had a spot that overlooked the ocean, it was very beautiful, they visited that spot frequently.

His mother was fixing his clothes at the door, as his friend was waiting for him,

"Take care of yourself, if someone asks you to come with them, don't." His mother said at the door.

"Yes, Mother." Zirrok responded.

"and don't get too close to the ledge." His mother said, for the tenth time.

"Yes, Mother." Zirrok responded, impatiently.

His mother gave him a kiss on the cheek, which made his friend chuckle, and young Zirrok blushed in anger,

"Don't do that, Mom! I'm not a child anymore!" He shouted, his cheeks still beet red.

She ruffled his hair, "You'll always be my child." She said with a smile filled with motherly love, his mother was so sweet, to this day, he still cries for that miserable day, for his family.. but mainly for his mother, she was the closest to him out of his entire family, more than his father or his two brothers, more than his friends, she knew him best, and he loved her so much. But he still scoffed after she ruffled his hair, he said goodbye to her and just left with his friend who was still laughing at him.

"Stop it, Hidi!" He shouted at his friend as they were running to the ledge.

"Awww.. momma loves tiny Zirrok!" His friend mocked him, mimicking a toddler's voice.

Zirrok's cheeks got even redder, "I said stop!" he shouted again, which made his friend Hidi laugh even harder as they kept running to their destination.

Yes.. you thought right.. Hidi is.. or was.. Hedrick.

It was very hard for him to see Hedrick go, that stupid girl, Miki.. she vaporized him, he lost his best friend.. after ten thousand years of friendship, that's quite a long time for someone to spend with you, that's what shocked him the most about Hedrick, or Hidi's purification, it was very fast, it made Voccak, or Zirrok, very shocked.. after living for ten thousand years, a mere child's skill could snuff you out of existence in an instance, it was his saddest experience yet, and it made him very anxious, and miserable.

Zirrok and Hidi arrived at the ledge and watched the sunset, as they were looking at the ocean, the sky was very clear, which was a miracle for the south pole.

"It's beautiful." Hidi said, as he and Zirrok were sitting on a mat alongside each other, Zirrok didn't respond, as he was staring in awe at the beautiful scenery.

they kept sitting there and playing until they got bored after a while, and so they decided to go home.

Only to wish they haven't.. as what they saw when they arrived proved.. that they don't have a home anymore.

Zirrok and Hidi just kept staring as the entire village being burnt to the ground, while evil spirits were standing on the ashes, the war has reached their village, it seems like no matter where they go, they'll find the war coming after them, there was no escape. Zirrok and Hidi finally came out of their days, Hidi started crying, while Zirrok had another thought in mind, he became vengeful, and suddenly he ran to the village with eyes filled with rage.

"Zirrok, wait!" Hidi shouted and ran after him with tears in his eyes.

He couldn't catch up to him though and they did end up in the village, Hidi could have run away but even though he was dead scared, he couldn't leave his friend alone in such a situation, they arrived at the village and Zirrok found a battle club lying on the ground, apparently it fell off a villager after he died trying to protect his place.

Zirrok picked the club off the ground, and took off to his house, when he arrived he found a spirit that's standing there outside his house and the house was burning, he couldn't contain the rage within him as he launched himself at the spirit, and he hit it with the club on the back of its head.. and it did fall to the ground.

Zirrok expected a totally different outcome, he thought that spirits are untouchable, he did hear stories about men trying to attack spirits and nothing would happen to them, so why did this spirit fall to the ground when he smashed its head with a club? he didn't know and he didn't care, it's time to look for his family.

He couldn't enter his house as it was on fire, but he couldn't just stand there either, he had to do something.

"MOM! DAD! ARE YOU IN THERE?!" He shouted at the top of his lungs. "SOMEONE ANSWER ME, PLEASE!" Zirrok shouted.

"Are those..?" Zirrok heard Hidi beside him,

Zirrok turned around to find Hidi looking at the far end of the street in silence, he looked very shocked that he couldn't move or speak, what could be so shocking that Hidi was staring at this way?

When Zirrok turned around, he couldn't believe it.

It was Hidi's parents, they were laying there, apparently dead.

Zirrok took Hidi's hands and ran to where his parents were laying, he just wanted to make sure it was actually them, indeed they were.

Hidi crouched beside his dead parents, and with lifeless eyes, he was staring at them.

Zirrok couldn't contain his emotions, he shouted at the top of his lungs,

"NOOOOOO! DAMMIT!" As he threw the club on the ground, and crouched beside it. "They are dead, Hidi.. all of them.. Why..?" Zirrok said as he put his hands on his face and sobbed, tears were flowing freely off his eyes as he kept sobbing loudly.

Hidi wasn't even paying attention to him, he was still dazed from the sight he was staring at.

Suddenly, they were both brought back to reality as a voice was heard from the far distance,

"Zirrok! Are you there?!" It was the voice of someone very dear to him.

"Mom?" Zirrok said as he turned around to find his mom, as she was indeed looking for him. "MOM!" He shouted as he grabbed Hidi's hand and ran to her.

She engulfed the both of them in a big hug, "I'm sorry, son.. I'm sorry.. Your father is dead, and I can't find your brothers." He heard her say as he was still hugging her.

They all cried, including Hidi who came out of his daze and finally realized that what he saw back there were the corpses of his dead parents.

"Mom.. Dad.. No.." Hidi said with a very low voice, forcing Zirrok's mother to hug him even tighter.

"I'm sorry, Hidi.." She said with a soft voice in his ears, making him cry even more and hugging her even tighter.

Zirrok saw something coming from the far distance, "Evil Spirit.." He said, not so sure at first, but when he saw the spirit coming at them at full speed, he snapped out of his daze and shouted even harder.

"EVIL SPIRIT!"

His mother and Hidi snapped out of their daze as well and looked frightened as they looked at the evil spirit in shock, Zirrok looked for his club but he threw it at the other end of the street and forgot about it when he ran to his mother. He thought it was the end for all three of them, when suddenly, his brothers arrived with clubs of their own.

they hit the spirit on the back of its head with a collaborative move, dropping it on the ground, the spirit just laid there for a moment, and then it vaporized.

Zirrok was so shocked by the display, he didn't know that they actually vaporized after being hit, he didn't notice what happened to the other spirit that he hit on the back of its head, he turned his head to the other end of the street to find that it was indeed vaporized as well.

His mother ran towards his two brothers and hugged them tightly, "Glad you are okay." She said to them.

"Mom.. The Light spirits arrived! They are fighting the vile spirits just as we speak!" The younger one said with excitement.

"That's great news, son." The mother said with a voice that conveyed nothing.. nothing at all.

But none the less some hope returned to Zirrok and Hidi with such great news, the light spirits are here, they are about to be saved.

"What happened to dad?" The eldest of them asked.

"He's.. dead." The mother answered, as she started to weep again.

The brothers cried as soon as they heard this, they hugged their mother again who was still crying as well, Hidi and Zirrok on the other side started crying again as well, as they were hugging each other, no child should ever experience what they experienced, it was too hellish a place for adults, not to mention two children, but the upcoming event made Zirrok realize.. that true hell come from those who say they will bring heaven. It wasn't what the evil spirits did that made Zirrok and Hidi the monster he is today, it was what the light spirits did.

As they were standing, a light spirit was fighting an evil spirit beside them, it all happened so fast that Zirrok didn't even know where they came from.

The light spirit launched a waterbending attack at the evil spirit, it was ice spikes, the evil spirit dodged it very cleverly, the ice spikes found its way to Zirrok's family, piercing through their bodies and killing them instantly.

Zirrok and Hidi stared in shock as Zirrok's mom and two brothers fell to the ground with ice spikes all over their bodies. the display distracted the light spirit, and it gave the evil spirit the advantage as the evil spirit wrapped its tentacles around the light spirit and took away its light, making the light spirit vaporize. When Zirrok had a full view of the evil spirit, it wasn't just any evil spirit, it was THE evil spirit, Vattu.

Vattu looked at them with pity, "This is why Raava is the true evil in this world." He said, before departing to continue the fight with light spirits.

Hidi and Zirrok just stood there staring at the dead mother and brothers, Zirrok was now as much dazed as Hidi.

They kept standing there for minutes before they came to the side of the mother and brothers, Zirrok crouched beside them.

Who did this? It was a light spirit. Zirrok had a look of anguish on his face.

"I'll avenge you, if it's the last thing I do in this world.. I swear I will avenge you." He simply said, with rage filling his eyes.

As soon as Zirrok said the phrase, he heard the evil spirits shouting, "VICTORY!" Hidi went to Zirrok's side and shouted in his ears,

"The evil spirits are victorious, we have to get out of here!"

"No." Zirrok and Hidi were shocked and frightened as they heard the voice of the dark spirit again.

"You're not going anywhere, Human." Hidi and Zirrok knew this was it, they knew right then and there that they were dead, until the evil spirit said,

"Not before we celebrate our hero. We couldn't have won today without your rage. I'll have you by my side, Human. Oh.. and your friend as well." Vattu said, referring to Hidi with the last bit.

And before the two kids could even gasp at what he just said, the evil spirit wrapped its tentacles around them and instantly teleported away.

I believe this is the first origin story in this fanfic, and my hardest origin story overall.

Some of you would ask, Why Voccak(Zirrok)? Why would you give him an origin story? He wasn't even in the original Avatar series!

I understand the confusion, but Voccak(Zirrok) is more important to this story than You could ever think, and my regret is that I couldn't show it enough to you in the prior chapters, But I hope you like it nonetheless as the next chapter is going to give you the answer as to why I chose Voccak(Zirrok) specifically and how important he is to the main story.

Don't forget to review the chapter, Please.

and Have a good one :)
