It was a warm, breezy evening. Gwen was spending her time in her room, writing and drawing in her diary.

"Diary, I'm going to high school tommorow. I sometimes wonder, how the hell did middle school go so fast. I mean, there wasn't so much peer pressure than it's gonna be now. But I hope I'll meet some sane people in first grade. I do NOT wanna be surrounded by idiots."

Suddenly, her mom came into her room. The teenager quickly shut her diary afterwards.

"What are you doing here?", Gwen asked her.

"Dear, maybe you'd like to talk?", her mom said.

"About what?", Gwen asked once again.

"Honey, we both know, that you're going to high school next day", Gwen's mom replied. "I just wanna know, if you're concerned about anything."

"Mom, I'll be alright", Gwen sighed. "I'm a teen, you know that."

"Yeah, but if you needed any advice, let me know", her mom smiled. "I've been through it too."

"Sure", Gwen looked down.

"Also, you might wanna come down, the supper is ready", Gwen's mom said.

"Okay, I'm coming", Gwen replied.

The beach, Bridgette and her parents were finishing their surfing session. As they reached the shore, they picked up their surfboards.

"So, Bridge, are you excited about tommorow?", her dad asked.

"I don't know", Bridgette replied. "I wanna make some new friends, but I'm afraid it won't be that easy. You know, there can be people, who would just care about themselves only."

"Don't worry, sweetie", her mom patted her on the shoulder. "You'll make a lot of friends for sure. You still remember the girls from middle school?"

"Oh yeah, they were very cool", Bridgette chuckled.

"Besides, I'm sure you'll watch out for untrustworthy people at school, right?", her dad chimed in.

"Yeah, Dad, I'll be careful, don't worry", Bridgette replied.

Suddenly, she bumped into someone and accidentally hit them with her surfboard.

"Ow!", the person shouted. It was a guy in Bridgette's age, who had long, blonde hair and blue eyes and was wearing a cowboy hat, jean shorts and an unbuttoned pink shirt.

"Sorry, I didn't see you!", she apologized to him.

"Nah, bra, it's okay", he replied. "You're surfing at this beach too? Awesome."

"Yeah, I go there every week", Bridgette chuckled.

"Sweet", the teen said. "I'm Geoff".

"Bridgette, nice to meet you", she shook his hand.

"Hey, you seem to be a cool gal, how about get there next week to meet each other more?", Geoff asked.

"Sounds like and idea", Bridgette replied.

"Cool", Geoff said, as he was walking away. "See ya next week!"

"Bye!", Bridgette waved back to him.

"Who wants a burger?", a tall, black man asked his family.

"Don't mind, if I do!", a big, African-Canadian teenager replied.

"I'd like one too", the tanned girl with pink hair said."

"Alright, two burgers for Leshawna and Leshaniqua coming up!", the man replied.

"You know, cuz, it kinda sucks we're not going to the same high school together", Leshaniqua said to Leshawna.

"Eh, don'tcha worry 'bout it", Leshawna shrugged. "This gal's got all the sass, she'll do fine."

"The burgers are ready!", the man announced. "So, girls, tommorow's the big day! Are you ready?"

"Damn straight I am, Pops!", Leshawna exclaimed. "I can't wait to make the dance club. Dancing is my destiny!"

"I dunno cuz, your moves are... interesting", Leshaniqua said.

"Oh, shut it, I'm just expressing myself!", Leshawna replied.

"Lemme give you an advice, girl", her dad said. "Sometimes think what you're about to say, or it might backfire and you might get detention. I know something about it".

"How could I get detention?", Leshawna asked.

"Well, honey, let's just say, that you're a bit loud", her dad answered. "And that irks the teachers a lot".

"So what?", Leshawna replied. "Pops, I'm gon' be fine."

"Okay, fine", her dad sighed. "Now, finish that burger, take a shower and go to sleep, it's getting late".

"Alright", his daughter said. "High school, here I come!"
