Chapter 1
"Young man, you CAN be a hero!"
As All Might shouted those words after the sludge villain incident, Izuku Midoriya felt… satisfied. Of course, on the outside, he was ugly-sobbing while kneeling in seiza, hands clutching chest. But inwardly, he was satisfied that the hero simply had forgotten what a hero truly was, rather than having been consumed by the Quirkist policies of the world. He felt a point in time being activated. HE was ready for what's coming, or so he thought.
"YOU are worthy of inheriting my power"
Cue record scratch
'What the actual hell!?' Was Izuku's only thought. It showed too. The following conversation was enlightening to say the least. It also explained why the point in time was never stable till that moment. As they exchanged contact information, Izuku only had one thought- 'Mask's off when training starts'.
Timeskip- First day of training
Since the fateful day was a Friday (ominous for most, it being a Friday the 13th), Training and an explanation was supposed to start on Saturday. Key word being 'supposed' . Izuku was texted by All Might the previous night, which told him to meet him at Dagobah Municipal Beach the next morning. What for, was obvious- heroes were originally community service volunteers, after all.
So it was that Izuku was up bright and early on Saturday morning, waiting patiently at Dagobah Beach, with an expression that gave him a more mature aura. All Might arrived at 5:30 in the morning, and he was baffled at Izuku's expression. 'Who spooked him last night?' was the obvious question on his mind. He didn;t get a chance to voice it though, since Izuku spoke.
"Before we start training, can you come with me to my house? You, my mother and I need to talk." Well, that didn't totally crank the suspicion meter up to 11 for him. 'What can I do?' "Of course, Midoriya-shounen! I understand that you shouldn't keep secrets from your family!". Izuku smiled but it seemed a little sad.
Nevertheless, they proceeded over to the Midoriya residence. Inko had woken up earlier, and went to check up on Izuku, only he wasn't in his room. She was starting to panic, until she saw a note that said that he would be back by 6:00 AM at the latest.
Knowing that Izuku was good on his word, she decided to wait patiently to ask for an explanation. Sure enough, at 5:55 AM, she heard the knocks on her door. Knowing it was Izuku by the pattern- any smart family has a special knock to determine if the person is friendly, neutral or otherwise; the neutral one is common at 2 sharp knocks- she went to open it.
There stood Izuku, welcoming a 6' tall tanned blonde with sunken blue eyes. Even when he looked like a skeleton given skin and other bioessentials, his eyes shone with suppressed power, the likes of which she would associate with powerful people like All Might. He wore baggy clothes, a white T-shirt and olive-green pants with a belt holding it loosely together. He looked malnourished, desperately so. Inko just wanted to take the man in and stuff him with enough food to kill a person through an exploding stomach, because evidently it wouldn't kill him. 'Woah, this is new, not since Hisashi anyway…'
"Hey mom,I'm back, meet Toshinori Yagi… He's a friend of sorts." Izuku introduced her to the man. She was reasonably confused. So she did what every mother bear did, and intimidated her son into an explanation.
"Izuku Mikumo Midoriya, you tell me RIGHT NOW what the hell is going on or it's the paddle for you, young man!" No one expected that to have no effect on him. Instead, Izuku calmly told her the following- "Mom, explanations can only be given to reasonable adults. What that means is that I will need you to be calm. Can you do that for me?"
Inko had no choice but to nod, since her mother hen mode had absolutely no effect on him. "Good. Now, if both of you will follow me, we can go somewhere secure." With that, the two adults followed the teenager to his room. The doortag had Toshinori snickering and blushing at the same time. Then Izuku did something different from the usual. He grabbed the doorknob and clearly said "Destruction is the path to Creation". Toshinori even felt an aura of power emanating from him. He then opened the room and Inko's gasp made it evident that the white light slipping through was not normal. The door opened to a pure white space, and Izuku held the door open. The adults entered the room, looking around in awe. Toshinori was getting increasingly worried about his successor's current state. Inko, on the other hand, was wondering if Izuku had awakened his quirk.
Neither were particularly happy with the situation though, given that this was all highly irregular. "Izuku, has this something to do with quirk?" she voiced her doubt. Toshinori was worried that his successor had led him to an imposter of sorts, when the reply came out, and Inko's reaction made it obvious that Izuku was hiding something and he wanted to come clean about it.
"Good guess, but no. This place has nothing to do with anyone's quirk, though I guess mine could replicate it." Inko's gasp and her shock-riddled facial expression did make him wince, though. "Lemme call someone that should be involved in this conversation, and then we can talk… Toshinori, time has no meaning here, so you might as well buff up." the way Izuku said that, casually telling him that it was ok to reveal his muscle form, told him that his successor was more than he seemed to be.
Of course, revealing the muscle form led to a reassurance that an explanation would be given… This made Inko worried for the future of the world, of course, but Izuku's blasé attitude to it was also baffling her.
After that, Izuku bellowed out, in a voice that almost deafened everyone else "TSUKASA, I KNOW YOU'RE THERE! GET YOUR ASS OFF OF THE COUCH, WE HAVE VISITORS, YOU LAZY LITTLE SHIT!" Inko desperately wanted to scold him for his language, but the replying yell was even worse. Also, it made Izuku seem more mature for some strange reason. Toshinori, at the same time, paled.
"OH, COME ON, YOU COCKSUCKING MOTHERFUCKER, CAN'T A MAN HAVE SOME REST? I WAS HAVING A BITCHING DREAM JUST NOW!" A man, about 6' tall, with chestnut hair and a tough guy type bishounen's face ambled over from some place over. He wore a grey jacked over a magenta turtleneck, and grey slacks. On his neck dangled a Blackbird Fly 135 Twin-lens Reflex Camera, with a magenta body. His eyes, a coffee brown color, were tinged with irritation at that moment. On seeing the visitors however, his eyes gained an edge that wasn't there before. This edge put the only Pro Hero present on guard.
"I see now… You, brat, had some sense to call me over for this talk. Can we please get a few couches first?" Izuku sweatdropped, then he just waved his hand and four single seater sofas appeared. Izuku took the olive-green sofa. Tsukasa took the magenta and black sofa, while Inko took the blue and Toshinori, who was starting to fear for his life, sat on the yellow one.
"Ok, since we're all seated and comfortable" Izuku started without preamble, as all four of them were eating a breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, toast, OJ, butter, and, in Izuku's case, a salad. All appearing outta nowhere of course. "I think I should make some official introductions- The magenta loving man is Tsukasa Kadoya, and his story will form a crucial part of today's talk. The woman you're currently ogling, Tsukasa" the reprimand was obvious "is my mother, Inko Midoriya. And the currently buff blond is Toshinori Yagi, better known as All Might, whose story will also be important, seeing as he was born Quirkless. Of course, all of you know me as Izuku Midoriya. Now Toshinori's story, injury notwithstanding is why we're actually gathered. Would you please tell us the history behind your quirk and also tell us why you want me as a successor?"
Toshimori was stunned, unbelieving that the young would-be successor would be sharp enough to deduce that One for All had a secret history. Of course, he was going to speak out. He chose his successor, now he was being trusted with something far greater than anything he himself could imagine. If he couldn't return that trust, there was no reason for him to even be asked about it.
"My quirk, One for All came to be at the dawn of quirks over two hundred years ago" he began. "Two hundred years ago there existed two brothers, their names have been lost to time, any trace they existed erased. The older brother held a terrible quirk, it allowed him to give and take quirks from others against their will. With that quirk he built a criminal empire that lasted over two centuries. The quirk's name was All for One." He noticed the two other males exchange a significant glance.
"Two centuries... How is that possible?" Inko was amazed, it seemed so surreal. "Yes, my allies and I believe he stole a longevity quirk at some point early in his rise to power. His brother was born quirkless, which at the time was common, but the dawn of quirks was a dangerous time to live, people were fighting in the streets. It was chaotic and dangerous for the quirked and quirkless alike. The older brother cared for his younger brother, who was said to be sickly and weak. He wanted his brother to live, to join his empire and for them to rule together." A sardonic chuckle escaped his mouth
"So, he forced a strength stockpiling quirk onto his brother, not knowing that he wasn't actually quirkless. He possessed a quirk that allowed him to transfer the quirk to another person, a quirk with no combat ability whatsoever. Except the two quirks fused, and thus One for All was born out of a sick and twisted form of brotherly love. The younger brother hated the older for what he had done to society, for becoming the first supervillain, he rebelled and they fought. On the last day they fought, the brother known now only by his quirk, All for One, killed his brother in combat. Before he died he transferred the quirk to one of his supporters who fled the battle scene who cultivated the quirk, kept it a secret and trained a successor, the second wielder thinking himself stronger fought All For One, and he too fell in battle. The story would remain the same until the seventh inheritor Nana Shimura. My master, who trained me. She had already passed the quirk onto me when we encountered All For One over thirty years ago."
Toshinori looked down in grief and whispered, "She kicked me away to her friend and my old teacher from UA, Gran Torino. He grabbed me against my will and together we fled the island where Nana and All for One clashed. Nana died that day, all we found were pieces of her. And so, I went to America where I trained in earnest, where I pushed my body farther than expected. And then five years ago, we met on the battlefield again." Toshinori shifted on his sofa, pulling up his shirt showing the twisted, gnarled scar on his side. "All For One ripped out my stomach and one of my lungs that day, crippling me. Of course, I didn't lose" he joked, though his face showed no humor.
"That day we fought, I crushed his head in my hands, I crushed until his brains ran through my fingers and his body stopped twitching. I made sure in that moment I had completed what the first wielder had not been able to," he growled it out, like he was still angry, still in that fight. "Then I collapsed upon his body, hearing Nana's voice one final time in my head, telling me to always smile and then... I died."
A choked noise escaped Inko's throat, "You died?!"
"Yes, for a few minutes my heart stopped, but Recovery Girl and a team of doctors brought me back from the other side." Toshinori wringed his hands while he contemplated his next thoughts.
"While they were saving me, Gran Torino went to the battlefield to get All for One's body. For what purpose I do not know, maybe to burn it or throw it into the ocean to rid the world of his presence for once and for all. However, when he arrived later he followed the blood trail to where they found me still on his body, there was no body. I hope, I pray to this day that it was his followers, who got his body first to bury him before we could. However, a nagging feeling that makes me lie awake at night tells me I wasn't as thorough as I should have been when I thought I killed him. If he is still alive, he is most likely as crippled as I am, if not more crippled."
The silence was deafening, Izuku was contemplating something, and Tsukasa was laying back, observing the situation. However, a fire burned in both pairs of eyes, one that would terrify their enemies.
"I… see. Why me though? There would be many students at UA who are more suitable to the quirk than me, right?" Izuku asked.
Toshinori just chuckled. "Young Midoriya, you have managed to show a true hero's heart in a moment where almost everyone else had given up. Besides, you just proved yourself worthy of the quirk, when you asked why you were chosen. It is true that I was looking at a successor in UA's current second year division, but that ceased to matter when I saw a true hero last night. You, and no other person would be worthy." He finished with a proud smile. Even with his secrets, Izuku had proven himself to be deserving of one for All.
"Saving the asshole was NOT with noble intentions, but I'll grant you that it does feel more real that way." Izuku said that, and Inko was not happy with his language, but Tsukasa beat her to the punch. "I thought you said you wouldn't save the Bakugou child under most circumstances, Izu. What changed?"
"He decided he wanted to really piss me off, so he crossed the one line you know not to cross with me personally. I'm breaking the bitch if it's the last thing I do!" Izuku basically snarled. It was difficult to tell if there was a marked difference between an animal's growl and his voice, he was that angry. Tsukasa looked just as furious.
Inko was starting to get a horrific image in her mind but she had to ask. "Izuku, is there something you aren't telling me about Katsuki?" Toshinori was surprised that Inko and Izuku both knew the explosive kid that was taken hostage earlier. But Izuku's scowl only made him suspicious about their relationship.
"Well, part of it was not wanting you to worry about me… Another part of it was that I needed the facade to work. But the main reason was that I was giving him chance after chance to change… chances that he didn't deserve." Izuku had a sadness and maturity in his voice that belied his age as he said that, enough that… Inko somehow knew that she wouldn't like this. "You remember when I was 5 and I got hurt helping a kid?" he asked in a non-sequitur.
Confused, Inko replied in the affirmative. Izuku chuckled so hollowly that it chilled her bones. "Katsuki and his cronies were behind that. I was so mad that I couldn't hold back and had to get him off the kid. My reward? Getting beat up by the meanest kids on the block, with quirk usage galore. Katsuki knew that his explosions were very harmful, but he didn't care, he just went on and on and on exploding his sweat on every part of my body that he could. Mitsuki-obasan wasn't on the scene and the other kids were also encouraged to do so. In the end, they left me on the ground, laughing about how no one would save me and that I wouldn't survive so they were doing me a favor…" he sneered so much that the sarcasm became obvious.
At this point, both newcomers were pale. Izuku continued though, his face lightening. "I'm pretty sure I would've died that day, but that was when I happened." A small smile graced his face, making him seem wistful. "I wasn't willing to succumb to my injuries, so I started willing myself to move. It was extremely hard, since I had my bones broken and my tendons snapped- one of them had a quirk that made it easier for them to apply blunt force trauma, and another had a quirk to rip apart things they couldn't see, but knew about, and he'd been learning about disabling people- and I was also bleeding through those injuries, both externally and internally, but I still willed myself to move, I REFUSED to die like that, REFUSED to give my dream up, REFUSED to bow down to their whim. And I was willing to do just about anything to gain the power to make them BOW before me." Izuku looked scary at this moment, with his maniacal grin. Toshinori felt something familiar about Izuku in that moment, but he wasn't finished.
Inko was just crying at that point- how could Katsuki be so cruel, even as a five-year old? She just wanted to hug him and make him feel better, but it was 9 years too late at this point in time. The famous Midoriya tears were in full swing, and Izuku had made a tub surrounding her that was taking all the water in with no sign of it getting anywhere close to being filled. Tsukas just had a stoic face… even now, Tsukasa was furious, and wanted first crack at Katsuki Bakugou, but he bowed to Izuku's whims
"So I was willing the movements to occur, and something inside me snapped- at the time I thought I had lost my sanity but the truth was much better. I started to hear creaking noises from within my body. Of course, it hurt like a bitch, but that didn't change the fact that it was healing. My body had basically reversed most signs of damage on it! This went beyond any level of recovery, since I'm pretty sure I had my brain exposed and the neurons can be drama queens, but I digress. Anyway, as you can expect, I had to lie about it, but I discovered another aspect of this- I had become immune to the bitch's explosions, all kinds of blunt trauma, and my internals were strengthened. I had basically evolved to become unaffected by them again. Naturally, I kept quiet about it, because I couldn't understand it and I was scared of the bitch at the time. Once I had found a way to get alone, three days later I might add, I went ahead and tried meditating. That was when I discovered that MY QUIRK had finally awakened!"
The silence was deafening. The faces of those in the blue and yellow sofas were priceless.
AN: Sorry, I couldn't help myself! Trust me to come up with a three-pronged four-way crossover series. I feel like megamatt09, who is doing something similar with his HP/DC crossovers. The difference is that I'm new and he's experienced. I actually held off on even posting this till Bakugo's fate was revealed... and I don't like that either.
ANYWAY, comment below on what you think Izuku's quirk is, because the next chapter of this load of peppers is going to be different. In case you were wondering, I haven't classed this fic as a crossover because it's more of a pain to do so. Those who recognize Tsukasa are welcome to read. The three fics that are in this series are-
Harry Potter: Magical Discovery (the next update)
The Redo- How it should've been-ttebayo!
and
Decades of Evolution.
To preface this, I will state that the fourth fandom to be dragged into my brand of insanity is actually Kamen Rider. So technically, these three fics are crossover fics of all four of those fandoms... I always wanted to go to hell.
Read, Review and just so you know, there are spoilers (minimal) for the three fics in all of them.. You have been warned.
Seiichi Yotsuba and his brand of Insanity are off to the races!
