"Reshiram and I were beaten. Your ideals … your feelings... they were stronger than mine, it seems..." N stated sombrely as he tilted his hat down looking away from Hilbert. "Zekrom and Reshiram, Each of them choosing a different hero... is that even possible?" He muttered trying to piece it together. "Two heroes living at the same time... one that pursues ideas and one that pursues truth. Could... could they both be right? I don't know." He stated truthfully before looking to the other boy hopefully with a soft smile "It's not by rejecting different ideas, but by accepting different ideas that the world creates a chemical reaction. This is truly the formula for changing the world" It was all starting to become clear to him.
"It's such a shame Natural, you had such promise." Ghetsis just about growled as she entered the room, "clearly it was a mistake to let you share the name Harmonia with me, after all, you know how the saying goes." He held up an old pokeball, slightly damaged and scratched. "Never send a pokemon to a man's fight" he tossed it up and down in the air to show off.
Hilbert looked from the old man back to N and noticed immediately when N's eyes wided in fear, and face paled he was visually shaking as he tried to shield his face from the man. Hilbert doesn't think he's ever seen someone so terrified of a pokeball before.
"Please No!" N pleaded but it was met to deaf ears as the pokeball Ghetsis was holding opened the familiar red beam in-gulped the man who gave one last desperate look to Hilbert a silent plead left unspoken "Return N" a tear rolling down his cheek just before his form disintegrated into light. "or should I say Zoroark? I was never too fond of nicknames" Ghetsis stated with a disgruntled face, looking over the small sphere in his large hands, a small life so easy to crush in his grasp. The power he had was exhilarating.
Hilbert looked on in shock, the man who he had fought countless times over the course of his journey was a pokemon. But the shock was short-lived as it was replaced by worry "W-what are you going to do with him?" Hilbert asked in concern at the pokeball Ghetsis held.
"Well if I can't correct this behaviour, i'll probably just stick him in the PC like all other trainers do with their disappointing pokemon" He replied with a grin.
"W-what about liberating all pokemon?" Hilbert asked in disbelief at what the man was saying.
"That was more 'N's' ideal then mine" He put the ball on his belt "He always had trouble accepting the truth about the world, the irony that Reshiram would accept him as it's hero is not lost on me" he walked over and picked up the pokeballs that N had dropped when he vanished inside the pokeball. "But no matter, I've gotten what I wanted, I might of made N a king, but what is a king to a god?" He smirked as he faced Hilbert his arm out stretched as he released his Hydreigon "Now to retrieve my ideals to go along with my truth."
As Hilbert got his first pokeball ready he heard a shout from behind "Stop this Ghetsis!" He turned and saw Alder.
"Ah if it isn't the former champion" Ghetsis shouted back "Come to bask in the glory of my perfection?" He opened a his arm in a wide gesture to show his pride in everything he had achieved.
"Stop this, all of this! This is madness" Alder tried to reason with the mad man. "Your going to tear apart Unova at this right!"
"Why stop now when i'm so close to perfection?" Ghetsis merely asked.
"If you won't stop, then we will just have to stop you together, what do you say my boy?" He asked Hilbert, the boy just nodded in agreement. They had to stop what ever Ghetsis was planning, no matter what.
"two against one, that's not exactly fair" he said with a grin on his face "let's even the playing field" he slammed his cane into the pavement and the shadow triad appeared with a strange man with blonde and blue hair.
"So you are in need of my assistance" He simply stated before quickly piecing together the double battle scenario before them "Very well, let's see how strong the former champion and this trainer compare to us."
And so the battle started, The mysterious scientist named Colress sent out Magneton, Alder sent out Accelgor and Hilbert sent out his first pokemon krookodile.
One by one each pokemon fell, it wasn't clear who was winning as no one had a clear adventage over the other. Ghetsis grew more and frustrated as he watched his ace and his other pokemon fall, He sent out Reshiram the legendary roared in anger at who wielded it. Is was not their hero who had summoned it. "Reshiram I am your master now submit to my will!" He shouted at the beast who simply roared back.
"Allow me, my lord" Colresss passed Ghestsis a small microchip device "Just put that on the pokeball it should allow you to control even the most disobedient of pokemon"
"Good thinking Colress" He placed it on the ball and it buried itself into the metal, red sparks began to surged from the ball and the pokemon. "Now Reshiram, obey your master and Fusion Flare them!" Reshriem cried out in pain as the electricity zapped its body as it tried to resist but proving futile to fight against his command it charged it's attack forward towards Hilbert's pokemon.
"Zekrom it's time to end this" Hilbert stated chucking out his own legendary. Who looked in concern at it's other half.
As Reshiram fainted Alder shouted out to Ghetsis, his own pokemon hanging on with a sliver of health "Give it up Ghetsis we can stop this now! You've already lost" He was right much to his annoyance, Reshiram was his last pokemon, he had lost. He was Plasma's strongest member and he had lost. He gritted his teeth in anger, no he wasn't ready to accept defeat yet. He pulled out the pokeball he had taken out before, sure he had already used 6 pokemon but why should he play by the stupid rules he was trying to abolish.
Hilbert paled as he saw that banged up old pokeball. Ghetsis smirked at the boy's uncomfortable face. "I have one more pokemon, thank you Colress for the gift this is going to prove very useful" He chuckled darkly.
Colress looked on in interest to the ball, he raised an eyebrow, not knowing where this was going. Ghetsis tapped the circle on the ball releasing the contents in front of him, a very scared boy was released as he looked around the battlefield. All eyes were on him, he felt like he was having a panic attack as he looked up and saw the very large Zekrom looming over him "F-father p-please I-I-I can't do this!" N's voice was shaky and terrified.
" . .THAT " Ghetsis stated with a growl as he tapped on the microchip on the pokeball and N burst into screams as electricity coursed through his body. "You are nothing but a freak without a human heart, you don't even deserve to take that form anymore"
"N" Hilbert whispered he felt terrible watching this display, as N fell to the ground from another zap making his illusion fail. And there on all fours in a pitiful display was a Zoroark. The green haired boy who he had met on his journey was but an illusion.
"I didn't know the boy was a pokemon" Colress stated in interest "You've got quite the scientific marvel here" His mind was racing a mile a minute piecing it all together.
"This is... Wrong on so many Levels" Alder whispered "I-i in good conscious can't keep going on. How could you do this Ghetsis! To your own Son!" Alder shouted.
"Were you not paying attention the freak is not my son, just another tool to be used. His facade was an illusion that you have all fallen for, he lied to you all!" Ghetsis slammed his cane down for emphasis.
"I-i thought" Zoroark wasn't sure how he was going to finish that sentence before he was zapped again.
"Now Zoroark Snarl" He lowered his head in shame as he gritted his teeth the electricity still shocking him because of his strong will to not fight. But he would not submit to his father's will.
"I-i don't want to fight you N!" Hilbert shouted out to the Zoroark. Who was glad it was a mutual feeling.
"Why not? It's no different then any other pokemon battle, you think all those wild pokemon want to be caught and made into slaves? You think your pokemon actually love you? Oh please they are nothing more then convenient tools" Ghetsis scoffed "And like all tools when they outlive their usefulness, we dispose of them" Zoroark whined as he lowered his head into his claws "And if Zoroark keeps refusing to fight, it might mean he's outlived his usefulness, don't you think Colress?" He held the ball tightly in his hand.
Colress didn't answer a bit to engrossed in the Zoroarks mental thermal.
"Please no! Please I'll be good" N pleaded to his father looking at him with his big blue eyes. His tone and behaviour broke Hilbert and Alder's heart, how many times has he pleaded to Ghetsis like this.
"Then prove it! Snarl!" He commanded gesturing out towards Zekrom.
N looked defeated as she flung himself at Zekrom, the beast roared as the Zoroark inflicted him with pain but there was no way that Zoroark would win this duel, he was fighting a battle he was never going to win, he wasn't that strong and his will to fight was even weaker all this senseless pain and violence for a goal that wasn't his own.
Zekrom knocked the Zoroark back with a slash to get it away from him. Zoroark had the wind knocked out of him, crashing into the floor but quickly picked itself back up.
"How about a trade?!" Hilbert suddenly blurted out. He couldn't bare to hear another one of N's screams, they just sounded so human. His out there proposal Causing everyone to turn their attention back to him.
"A trade?" Ghetsis asked in interest, stroking his chin.
"I-I'll trade N f-for Zekrom" The legendary looked down at the boy in concern. But nodded noticing this child's strong desire for his ideals to be met.
Alder put his hand on the boy's shoulder "My boy, it's a thoughtful gesture but-"
Ghetsis simply held out his palm for him to stop "No let the boy speak his mind, if he thinks this pathetic waste of space is worth his time, i'll gladly trade for Zekrom" She smirked as he looked up at the large black dragon.
"Hilbert stop! You can't give him Zekrom! Not after the way he treated Reshiram! Please don't do it" N shouted at the boy. "Please I-I'll be fine! I swear!" Hilbert didn't believe that for a second
"Shut it boy!" Ghetsis zapped the wolf again and felt a grin spread across his face as he heard the paid yelp. "What happened to being good? Now if Zekrom won't take his turn, night slash Zoroark!"
Zoroark attacked again. Hilbert felt guilty as he accepted that he had to finish this, he ordered Zekrom to deal the final blow to N. the sickening sight of watching the Zoroarks pained face as it was fading into unconsciousness, his sad eyes looked at him one last time mouthing a quite thank you directed at him.
"Useless" Ghetsis remarked as he put zoroark back into his ball. "This isn't over, I will get Zekrom and Unova will be mine!" He turned to leave calling the shadow triad and vanished into thin air.
"Wait N!" Hilbert called out, tears in his eyes but it was too late, he was gone, still in the hands of the monster who he once called father.
Alder tapped his back in comfort, Hilbert couldn't control the tears that flowed down "Why didn't you let me trade for him!"
Alder didn't say anything at first, thinking out his words. "part of being a leader is making tough decisions. Being a champion means looking out for all of Unova" that was the harsh truth, one badly abused pokemon wasn't worth all the lives of Unova.
"But what about N? Ghetsis is going to-" Hilbert had to stop himself. He could barely breath remembering how scared N looked, it was the first pokemon battle that made him physically sick.
"Hilbert, look at me, I'm going to do everything I can to get him back, I promise you" Alder comforted the sad teen. "I promise you I haven't given up on him, just promise me you won't give up on him either." The boy just nodded before clutching his hands and looking out into the window at the end of the room. He'll never give up, he'll save N, one of the only pokemon who he agress should be liberated. He just hopes he's not too late.
