Author's Notes: This daft little thing has been sitting in my DocX manager for the better part of a year, and I've been indecisive if I wanted to share it with the world or not. But tonight, as I was cleaning out a plethora of drafts that will never see the light of day, I decided "why not".
Feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, and/or concrit if you wish. Enjoy!
Wanda stood in front of the Fairy Academy smiling brightly as her rosy pink eyes lit up with happiness. "Isn't it wonderful?" she said looking around the campus in awe.
Students were milling around, chattering amongst themselves. Jocks gathered around a smaller fairy, pulling his underwear over his head, while a group of friends near by laughed together without a care in the world. Compared to the snooty attitudes from the students at Fairy Prep, everyone here seemed so lively.
Big Daddy stood beside her looking around in disproval. "Are you sure about this, Cannoli?" he sneered as one of the jocks made a toilet appear and dunked the smaller fairy's head into the bowl. "It's not too late to change your mind."
"I'll be fine, Daddy," she turned to the fairy beside her and gave him a warm smile.
Big Daddy held up his wand and a small object appeared in Wanda's hand. She observed it and quirked an eyebrow in amusement. "Pepper spray?"
"Keep that with you at all times!" He warned.
Wanda laughed and gave him a hug. "You worry too much."
"I'm just glad you didn't come her alone," he said, looking at the pager buzzing on his belt. "There's an emergency I need to attend to. I'll see you tonight," he gave her a quick hug and poofed away.
Wanda looked over her shoulder at her boyfriend, who was looking at his reflection in a hand held mirror. His silky black hair tied back into a sleek pony tail flowed gently in the warm summer breeze. His muscles rippled beneath his tanned skin as he moved around, trying to get the best angle to appreciate himself even more so than he already did. His fitted white t-shirt left little to the imagination, and she watched as two girls floating by ogled him and whispered words of praise about his physique. Wanda pretended not to notice him winking at the ogling fairies, and let out an exasperated sigh.
For as long as she could remember, he had always drawn attention from the female crowd. He was known at Fairy Prep for his good looks, scandalous one night stands and short lived flings, and was the most conceited fairy she had ever met. He was the last fairy she would have ever considered dating.
But, as fate would have it, Big Daddy set her up on a blind date with none other than Juandissimo Magnifico, Fairy Prep's very own playboy. It turned out, her father was trying to get a business deal with Magnifico Empire, and since Blonda's reputation for promiscuity wasn't a good look for Big Daddy's business, that left Wanda as the pawn in her father's business game. What better way to solidify a business deal than to have fairies from the two most powerful families in Fairy World become an item?
"I can't believe you set me up with that pigheaded jerk!" Wanda seethed, storming into Big Daddy's office.
"He can't be that bad," Big Daddy said, unphased by her anger.
"Not that bad?" anger rippled through her veins and she fisted her hands at her sides. "Do you have any idea what he's like at school?"
Big Daddy sighed and set the blueprint he was looking over on top of his desk. "Look, I just need you to play nice until I can get Mr. Magnifico to sign that business deal."
"I can't believe you are willing to pimp out your own daughter for a business exchange that may or may not be beneficial to your company!" She slammed her fists on top of the desk and glared at him.
"Don't you think you're being a little dramatic?"
Big Daddy stood from his chair and went over to the silver platter sitting on an elegantly carved table next to his desk. He opened a bottle of scotch and poured it into a crystal glass and swirled it around. "I'd hardly call it pimping you out," he brought the class to his lips, "nobody is making you sleep with him," he finished and took a drink.
Wanda glared down at the desk and noticed a brochure from the Fairy Academy on top of a pile of mail. For as long as she could remember, she had always wanted to go there, but Big Daddy insisted she was too good for public school and kept her in the confines of Fairy Hills, where societies higher class citizens lived.
"Fine," she pushed herself from the desk to stand up straight. Big Daddy turned around, bringing the glass of amber liquid to his lips again. "I'll play nice, but on one condition," she smirked.
"What's that?" He asked before taking another a drink.
"I want to attend the Fairy Academy next year."
Big Daddy spit the scotch from his mouth and stared at her in disbelief. "Absolutely not!" he scowled. "A fairy of your stature doesn't belong in a public school, especially one filled with the lowest class citizens of Fairy World."
"Fine," she shrugged, "no Fairy Academy, no deal," she around turned to leave.
"Wait," he sighed and Wanda smiled in triumph.
Wanda held up her end of the bargain and befriended Juandissimo. She often asked herself if following her dreams was really worth getting to know this arrogant toerag- nothing seemed worth it, until winter break, when their families vacationed together on a private island owned by his parents. They spent several hours in the night looking at the stars, talking and laughing. He always held doors open for her, pushed her seat in, and even gave her his jacket when she got cold.
They started spending more time together during and after school, and Wanda noticed a change in him. Although it was inevitable that girls would swoon over him everywhere he went, he didn't give them attention like he used to. Instead, he was invested in her, and, just like any other girl would, Wanda fell for him. They became official over spring break, much to Big Daddy's delight.
Over the past few months, everything between them had been going smoothly, until he started pushing the boundaries she had subconsciously set on their relationship. Juandissimo wanted to take their physical activities further than their occasional make out sessions, and was persistent in his advances to seduce her. But she was persistent in waiting until she was ready. After he reluctantly agreed to stop his endeavor, he started becoming distant and she noticed him reverting into his old flirtatious ways and seeking attention from their female peers.
She confronted him about it in the beginning, but he insisted it was just her being jealous and insecure. She convinced herself that he was right and did her best to ignore it.
When he had surprised her by enrolling into the Fairy Academy, she couldn't help but feel like the few months of happiness they shared was becoming a faded memory. More time together should have made her happy, but instead, it made her feel overwhelmed.
"Ready, mi amor?"Juandissimo said, drew her out of her thoughts. He laced his fingers with hers and they began making their way to the entrance.
...
Cosmo frowned looking across the parking lot at the place he hated the most- actually, hate wasn't strong enough- he loathed school. Not only was he in the lower half of his class with a D average, but he was also a prime target for pranks and jokes.
"Another year of wasting my life," he said to himself.
"Yo, Cosma," he turned around to see three all too familiar figures coming into view and gulped. "We heard you like to play tag," the bigger fairy said, cracking his knuckles.
Cosmo felt dread in the pit of his stomach as the fairies came closer. "Come on Luther," he stuttered, holding both hands up in defense, "it's the first day of school," he slowly started backing away, "we haven't even gone through our first class yet."
Luther's malicious smile widened as he floated closer, "I'll tell you what," he cracked his knuckles again, "I'll give you to the count of three to make a run for it. One..." he began in a low and menacing tone.
Cosmo's eyes widened in alarm.
"Two..."
Cosmo turned around and quickly floated towards campus as quickly as he could, weaving through crowds of students. He looked behind him and noticed he was no longer being chased, and just when he decided to slow down, he crashed into another fairy in front of him, knocking them both to the ground. Students laughed from all around and Cosmo hoisted himself up on his hands, "I'm so sorry!" he said in embarrassment, "I didn't mean..." his words trailed off when he peered down to find a pit of rosy pink eyes staring up at him. He was lost in a sea of pink- the most beautiful shade of pink he had ever seen.
"So beautiful," he whispered in awe.
His reverie was short lived when a strong hand gripped the back of his shirt, yanking him off of the fairy he had been laying on top of. "What the hell do you think you are doing?" a strong voice with a thick accent yelled at him as strong hands pinned him to the ground.
Cosmo whimpered and held his arms protectively over his face when he saw a fist coming towards him. His eyes clamped shut and he braced himself for impact.
"Juandissimo, stop!" A panicked voice called out.
Several seconds passed and Cosmo peeked from beneath his arms when he felt the hand gripping his shirt release him. He felt another hand- a softer and gentler one- pull at his arm helping him into a sitting position.
He slowly put his arms down and opened his eyes fully, coming face to face with the most beautiful fairy he had ever laid his green eyes on. Her swirly pink hair fell in loose curls around her shoulders. Her rosy pink eyes even more beautiful than they were mere seconds ago. Her lips were full and plush and probably felt just as soft as they looked. This was no fairy- this was an angel! Cosmo made eye contact again, lost in the abyss of angelic tones of pink.
"Are you alright?" Her soft, angelic voice asked.
Say something you idiot! His brain demanded.
Since his ability to talk seemed to dissipate, he nodded.
The angel smiled at him, showing her perfect white teeth and she held an open hand out tentatively. Cosmo stared at it awkwardly before his brain kicked in; take her hand, stupid!
He cautiously reached out and took it in his and slowly got off the ground.
"I'm Wanda," her angelic voice rang through his ears once again.
"I'm Cos..mo," he said with an awkward crack in his voice.
"It's nice to meet you, Cosmo," she said with a gentle squeeze of her hand in his.
It was then that he looked down and realized he was still holding onto her hand. Let go! His brain screamed. He slowly retracted his hand with reluctance. "Thank you," he said, "for helping me up."
"Anytime," she smiled at him again, causing him to blush.
"Alright, that's enough," snapped the muscular fairy in annoyance. "Let's go mi amor," he wrapped an arm around her waist possessively, pulling her away and shooting a glare at the smaller fairy.
Cosmo was oblivious to the world around him, watching as the angel became more distant with each step she took in the opposite direction. His heart soared when she looked over her shoulder at him with that perfect little gleam in her eye. For a brief moment, he felt a spark of joy ignite his soul, making him soar into the heavens like a feather caught in the wind.
