Disclaimer etc. etc. or Phillinda would have been a thing a lot sooner ;) Doesn't happen at any particular time during the series. Am I back from my long haitus? Not sure yet.
They were at a coffee shop. Coulson's worst hangout idea, ever. Why would he even suggest a coffee shop knowing May hated coffee. But, luckily for May- more so for Coulson who avoided having his ass kicked- the coffee shop also served tea.
May felt the warmth of the chocolaty pastry in her hand as she took a bite, even though Melinda May would never admit she had a bit of a sweet tooth.
"We should do this more often," the hot coffee in his mug still swirling from when he mixed the sweet sugary substance into the tart drink.
"Do what? Sit around eating and drinking something hot?" May asked, nearly snorting her tea, sarcasm laced in her tone.
"No, I mean we should hand out more often. Doesn't have to be at a coffee shop, it was my bad for suggesting this place since I know you hate coffee. But you know, hang out."
"Hang out," a slight smirk graced her face. "Alright."
"Tonight, you and me, popcorn and a movie." Coulson knew he was pushing May's all work and no play tendencies, but they hadn't spent time together just the two of them in a while, so he had some advantage.
"I get to pick out the movie, I'm not watching another Captain America documentary."
"I'll have you know Captain America documentaries are very informative and an essential part of our history, but I suppose I can let you pick the movie," there was a flirtatious twinkle in Coulson's eyes.
"Good- and I want the movie buttered popcorn."
"We're watching a Captain America documentary during our next movie night."
"Fine," May said with false annoyance.
In a silent agreement, Coulson reached out to hold May's hand, giving it a small squeeze; just enjoying the precious time they spent alone with each other.
Just some very short nonsense I thought was cute :) I hope you enjoyed it!
