I do not own Vampire Diaries

Elena was waiting inside the car with Lilliana for the past 15 minutes getting increasingly annoyed, what the hell was Anastasia doing in there? She sighed in frustration before getting out of the car and slamming the door behind her as she walked to the house and knocked on the door. It took quite a while before the door opened and Damon was on the other side.

"Uh Damon. Do you know where Anastasia is?" Elena asked not knowing that since she hadn't locked the door Liana had opened the door and was walking towards them.

"She's a little busy so she said that you can leave her daughter here and Stefan will drop her off afterwards." Damon replied since Stefan had taken Anastasia upstairs to put her in one of the spare rooms, she wasn't waking up so they hadn't known what else to do.

"Oh ok." Elena said unsure, why was she going home with Stefan, she didn't like that at all but she couldn't outright say why because it would be obvious that she was jealous.

"Yay. I wanna stay with mommy." Liana said shocking Elena who hadn't realised she had gotten out the car and that she was right behind her.

"Lilliana!" Elena said as she turned around to face the little girl.

"Hi Ewena. Hi Uncle Damie." Lilliana said as she looked at the both of them with an adorable dimple grin.

"Hello little one." Damon said to the girl with a slight grin, he had to admit she was adorable despite how much he hated the name she had given him. Anastasia had said that the child had to like the other person to call them Aunt of Uncle the next time she saw them which meant the kid liked him for whatever reason he didn't know. He did know though that the kid seemed to be Anastasia's one weakness.

"Hewwo Uncle Damie, where is mommy?" Liana asked the man wanting to go to her.

"Here I'll take you to her." Damon said holding out a hand to the little kid who immediately grabbed on as he turned to Elena and said, "Thank you for stopping by, Elena. Nice to see you."

"Yeah, I should probably go. It was nice to meet you, Damon." Elena said back to him.

"Great meeting you, too, Elena." Damon said as she turned to leave and he shut the door as he took Liana to the stairs as he very patiently waited for the kid to walk up each step one by one, it was excruciatingly slow and he was beginning to feel very annoyed so after a few steps he picked her up instead but she began to thrash in his arms so he quickly put her down confused. He then saw her move away from him with slight fear in her eyes and it was then he noticed the bruises on her neck and he widened his eyes as he realised that she had been hurt alongside her mother, the guy hurt kids too? Seriously?

"Hey kid I'm not going to hurt you, I was just going to take you to your mother." Damon said trying to be gentle and she looked at him with slight weariness that shouldn't be present on a kid her age before she smiled at him and lifted her hands clearly in a gesture to be picked up and he rolled his eyes at her silent demand before lifting her up in his arms as he carried her up the stairs.

He put her down as he entered the room where he heard screaming coming from, it was coming from Anastasia she was thrashing around on the bed and Stefan trying to calm her down but it clearly wasn't working.

"Mommy!" Liana exclaimed as she let go of his hand but just as she was going to jump on the bed Damon pulled her back, he didn't know why he did that, but for some reason when he saw the kid about to jump on the bed despite her mother's thrashing limbs and screaming her lungs out, he knew the child could get hurt so he pulled her back.

"No! Let me go. I want mommy." Liana screamed at the man holding her, she didn't like him anymore, he was keeping her from mommy.

"Damon give her to me." Stefan said as he got up off the bed, knowing that he couldn't do anything now, Anastasia wouldn't wake up, he hated hearing her screams as she writhed on the bed, whether it a nightmare or a vision, he didn't know but he just wanted it to stop, he didn't think he could hear anymore.

Damon immediately gave the girl to Stefan, he didn't want to hold her for a second longer, he was still confused about why he had held her back from jumping on the bed but he refused to dwell on that, he didn't care after all.

"Uncle Steffie I want mommy." Liana said as she cried squirming in his arms, trying to get to her mommy.

"You will Liana. She'll wake up soon." Stefan said not knowing what to say to the crying girl in his arms.

"No she won't. She never wakes up from a nightmare until I go to her. Pwease let me go." Liana said as she looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

"She's had them before?" Stefan asked concerned as he put her down on the floor, he couldn't say no to her when she was looking at him like that.

"Yeah. Because of bad man." Liana said as she tried to climb on the bed but because of her short stature she couldn't so Stefan helped her to get on it, he was ready to pick her up in case Anastasia accidentally pushed her off the bed but when Lilliana snuggled up to Anastasia, it was like a flick of the switch and Anastasia immediately calmed down.

"Mommy. Mommy wake up." Liana said shaking her mommy slightly when she calmed down. After a few seconds of shaking her, Anastasia gasped awake trying to sit up before she saw her baby on top of her crying so she immediately asked, "Baby what's wrong?"

"You had a nightmare again." Lilliana said she couldn't stop the tears flowing from her eyes, she remembered the times when bad man didn't come home in the night and she used to go to her mother's room and see her having a nightmare so she climbed into her bed and she calmed down though she never used to scream before.

"Oh. Sorry baby." Anastasia replied as she sat up in bed wincing at the pain around her hip probably from thrashing around in her nightmare. She hugged her baby to her side careful of the stitches as she tried to calm her down before looking around at where she was since she knew she wasn't in her bed. She then noticed the brothers standing next to her bed and her magic formed the same shield around her, as she stared at Damon in slight fear, he had after all been the one to push her into a panic attack and the nightmare that followed.

It had started with the day she had lost her firstborn, James beating her and the miscarriage that followed, the blood, the little hand she had seen, it wasn't even fully formed yet, and at the sight she had been violently sick in the toilet before steeling herself and picking up her dead baby. It was late at night when she had went outside and buried him in the ground after hugging his body to her chest, she hadn't cared about the blood, she just needed to say goodbye. Then the nightmare changed and she all of a sudden saw a few quick flashes, some of which she couldn't quite make out. First she had seen Damon feeding from someone, a line of fire within the familiar school grounds, a woman with black veins all over her face lying on the floor with a piece of wood stuck out of her chest, Elena with a new hairstyle and then the rest she didn't understand at all.

"Next time I see her, I'll tell her that her visions will get more clearer in time." Death informed his sister as he watched her thrash around on the bed in the throes of her nightmare sympathetically, he had been able to see it all and despite the fact that he had already seen what happened to her firstborn before, seeing it again was still heart-wrenching.

"You do that." Life said dismissively before she watched over the other universes as her brother went back to sending the dead to their rightful place, whether it be heaven or hell.

"Ana!" Stefan exclaimed, she seemed to have spaced out a little so he raised his voice to get her attention.

Anastasia flinched at the shout before she realised she had been lost in thought about her nightmare/vision whatever it was. Liana was still crying in her arms so she tried to rub her back and calm her down but it wasn't working, it must have really scared her, she hadn't seen her have a nightmare as often after all, she normally hid it so that she wouldn't do what she just did.

"You tried to compel me you bastard." Anastasia said to Damon as she covered her daughter's ears from the swear she used.

"It clearly didn't work anyway so no need to look at me with those judgy little eyes." Damon said as he rolled his own at her.

"Ugh. You're infuriating. Where the hell am I anyway?" Anastasia asked as she turned to Stefan.

"You're in one of the spare rooms in our house." Stefan replied.

"Oh." Anastasia said as she looked around dropping her shield, she felt a little more comfortable around Stefan so she got off the bed on the side closest to him looking at Damon warily as she looked for her crutches. Stefan knew what she was looking for and had immediately handed it to her so that she could walk properly.

"Mommy can we go home?" Liana asked her mommy, wanting to go from here.

"Yeah sure baby, just give me a second." Anastasia said as she got her phone out of her pocket to call either Bonnie or Caroline.

"What are you doing?" Stefan asked her confused.

"Calling Bonnie or Caroline to drop me home." Anastasia replied as she went to her contact page to find their contacts.

"You don't have to do that. I can drop you off." Stefan said to her.

"Hold on a second. She's not leaving. She knows too much." Damon said to Stefan, if she goes and tells the council, they were screwed.

"We can't compel her Damon." Stefan said shaking his head at his brother.

"No but there is another way to make sure she won't talk." Damon said as he vamp sped towards her but her magic immediately threw him away, as she kept a hand out to stop him coming forward her eyes fading from golden to its usual colour. Liana had screamed when he had come forward and now she was crying as she jumped off the bed hiding behind her mother. She put her crutches down for a second as she picked up Liana, she was lighter than the average child so it didn't hurt as much as she tried to rock her in her arms to calm her down but it wasn't doing anything since she had already been worked up before and now with the sudden scare on top of it, God, she was really starting to hate Damon.

"What the hell is wrong with you? You already know I'm a witch, if I do supposedly tell anyone what you both are, be free to tell anyone what I am. It's a win win situation... or lose if you think about it." Anastasia said to the man before he could come and attack her again.

"Yes but they'd likely believe in vampires more than a witch." Damon said to her though he didn't attack her again, for some reason he couldn't after hearing the little girl scream and cry when he tried to.

Anastasia groaned at that before she turned her daughter's head away and vamped out at the both of them, completely frustrated, she wanted to go home and calm her child down and after the weird nightmare/vision thing she just had she just wanted to get away from here.

Both the brother's eyes widened, they couldn't contain their surprise as they stared at her vampire face before it changed back to her normal one.

"Happy? Now you don't have to worry about me telling anyone." Anastasia said to the both of them, they were still a little speechless at what they just saw to actually say anything.

"That's impossible. You can't be... You're a witch. You can't be a vampire too and who made that daylight ring for you? Damon asked exactly what Stefan was thinking.

"None of your business." Anastasia said refusing to tell them that, they wouldn't believe her anyway so she then said, "So now that that solves everything. Can you take me home so that I can calm her down?" Anastasia asked Stefan pleadingly, Liana was crying and she had to do something but she refused to sing to her here.

"Yeah why don't you wait here and calm her down while I go and bring the car around then I'll come back and help you with her?" Stefan asked as he gestured to the door for Damon to leave first so that he could go and fix the car so he could use it to drop her home, it was the least he could do after what happened today.

"Thanks Steffie." Anastasia said teasingly to show him that they were on good terms and he smiled at her before leaving the room after Damon, who thankfully left too.

"A vampire and a witch. That's one crazy friend you made. Great gal though. Whoo. She's got spunk. You, on the other hand, look pooped. Did you over-exert yourself today? Let me guess...hospital." Damon said to Stefan as they walked to where the car was located.

"Someone had to clean up your mess." Stefan said, with everything that happened, he had nearly forgotten what he had done this morning.

"Well, were you successful? Did the powers of persuasion work? Remember, if you don't feed properly, none of those little tricks work right." Damon said mocking his bunny diet.

"How long were Ana and Elena here before I came?" Stefan asked changing the subject.

"Were you worried, Stefan? Scared we may be doomed to repeat the past? Isn't that why you play your little game, "I'm a high school human"?" Damon said derisively.

"I'm not playing any game." Stefan said as he opened his garage door to see the car covered by the sheet.

"Of course you are. We both know the closest you'll ever get to humanity is when you rip it open and feed on it." Damon said as he stood there watching Stefan pull the cover off his car.

"What kind of game are you playing, Damon?" Stefan asked him annoyed as he opened the car door.

"Guess you'll just have to wait and see, won't you?" Damon said before he vamped back inside the house to the room where Anastasia and the little girl were before he heard a beautiful voice singing inside.

Anastasia knew that the only way to calm Liana down was to sing to her so she began singing her favourite song, not knowing that half way through Damon had come and had been listening on the other side.

"Have no fear

When the night draws near

And fills you with dreams and desire

Like a child asleep

So warm, so deep

You will find me there waiting for you

Nocturne."

Whilst Anastasia was singing and rocking Liana to sleep, Damon was listening outside, he couldn't seem to move away from there or disturb her either, he didn't know why but he just, for some inexplicable reason, didn't want to. Stefan had seen Damon vamp away and had immediately got into the car and drove it around before hurriedly getting out as he vamp sped to the room in concern for what Damon might do to Ana. He had attacked her several times already after all, but he saw him standing outside the door and he was confused for a second before he heard the soft heavenly voice from inside, was that Anastasia?

"We will fly, claim the sky

We don't have to wonder why

Always be, always see

Come and dream the night with me

Nocturne.

Though darkness lay

It will give way

When the dark night delivers the day

Nocturne."

Anastasia finished the song (Nocturne-secret garden) before she laid her forehead against her sleeping daughter's and said with a broken voice, "I couldn't protect your brother Liana but I'll always protect you no matter what. You will never live in fear again baby. I promise."

The brothers exchanged glances with each other, they had heard what she said and were surprised, she'd had a child before, and from what she said, it seemed like he was dead or something, she was so young though. They didn't know what to do, there had been too many shocks today and they were mainly because of her. They didn't get a chance to say anything though because the door opened and they both saw Anastasia glaring at the both of them annoyed. She had left Liana on the bed since she couldn't carry her and walk at the same time.

"I can hear you breathing you know. How much did you hear?" Anastasia whispered.

"Uh...You have a beautiful voice?" Stefan said unsurely, keeping his voice down because of the child, and also because she actually looked scary when she was angry.

"Shit. You were not supposed to hear that." Anastasia mumbled as she sighed in frustration.

"Well for once Stefan is right. You do have quite a beautiful voice." Damon said as he smirked at her.

Anastasia just rolled her eyes at him as she whispered, "Could you keep your voice down? She's sleeping."

Damon raised his hands in surrender before he vamped away not before saying with his annoying smirk that was beginning to grate on her nerves, "You look hot by the way, I don't think I mentioned that."

"Ugh. How the hell does someone like you have a brother like him?" Anastasia asked Stefan with disbelief.

Stefan just shrugged as he released a long suffering sigh before he said, "Come. I'll drop you off." Anastasia just nodded at him as Stefan went in the room and picked the kid up before they walked to his car and got in. He followed her directions until they found themselves in front of a beautiful house, which he was shocked actually belonged to her.

"This is your house?" Stefan asked shocked as he looked around at the beautiful place.

"Yep. Well it belongs to my dad but yeah I live here." Anastasia replied as she woke up Liana, knowing that she couldn't carry them both inside. Once she was awake, they both got out the car waving at Stefan as his car drove off before making their way inside. They were walking towards their room when Anastasia heard a noise in the kitchen and assuming it was her dad, she went to say hello.

"Hey dad." Anastasia said as she went into the kitchen only to see him with a half full bottle of alcohol in his hand and an empty one sitting on the counter and she immediately became stiff when she glanced into his angry eyes.

"Where the hell have you been Anastasia? I expected you to be home hours ago. It's 5 o'clock and you were supposed to be here after finishing that school of yours." Her father shouted enraged at his daughter, she never obeyed him, he was her father for God's sake and yet she didn't give a damn.

"I-I texted you that I was going to be h-home late because a friend needed my help." Anastasia said, she felt shaky and confused as her father shouted at her, most of his words were slurred which showed exactly how drunk he was and the fear was beginning to encompass her as it always did before. When she was in the car with Elena she had texted him that she'd be late and yet here he was shouting at her. It was beginning to scare her and her breaths were becoming laboured, it was James all over again, he had shouted at her using all sorts of swears all the time too, especially when he was drunk.

"I didn't get any text Anastasia. Are you lying to me now? I guess things haven't changed at all, you were like that when you were young too. You got that from your mother, yes, I might have loved her but she was just like you. The time when you told me that Adrian's death wasn't your fault? That was a total lie because if you had remembered to bring his inhaler with you that day, he would have been fine. And when you said that your mother's death wasn't your fault? That was also a lie because if you hadn't been born, she wouldn't have been diagnosed with Peripartum cardiomyopathy from the f$£%&*$ pregnancy and she would have been fine. And now your firstborn too, he died because of you too, didn't he? If you hadn't stayed with that guy, he would have been fine..." Her father shouted at her, and at this point, Liana had walked in and was holding Anastasia scared for her mother. At the words her father had so callously spat at her, Anastasia had felt a physical pain in her chest at the painful memories sending her to her knees tears streaming down her face as she sobbed, she didn't care about the pain from her stitches and her hip, she just wanted her father to stop, but he didn't seem to care at all. He was about to go on but Anastasia finally managed to find her voice.

"Stop. Just stop. I'm begging you, please just stop. I can't believe you actually said that to me. You have no idea how much I wanted to get away from James, but he threatened me, he blackmailed me, he said he'd hurt the people I care about and at the time, one of them had been you. I couldn't live with myself knowing that if I left him I would be putting you and my friends in danger, and I lost my firstborn because of that. It wasn't my fault. The day when me and A-Adrian had gone outside to play in the park, I had remembered his inhaler. I had put in the bag that had the football he wanted to play with in the park. When we went there he had put the bag down on the bench so that we could play with the ball but afterwards when he needed the inhaler, the bag was gone. It wasn't my fault. I-I tried to save him. I ran all the way home and got the spare inhaler but when I went back to him, i-it was too late. H-He was gone. It wasn't my fault. Nor was my mother's death. It wasn't my fault I was born, it wasn't my fault that she was diagnosed with such a rare disease, it wasn't my fault dad. I loved them all. I still love them all and nothing could ever change that." Anastasia said crying her eyes out, she had relived all of her worst memories today because of him and right now, she hated him.

"Don't call me that. I'm not your father anyway, I only let you have my name because of your mother. I loved her even when I found out the affair she had behind my back, the affair that landed us with you. She promised that she'd never see him again if I would accept you as my own and I agreed but despite how much she loved you, I could never bring myself to, you were never my child and I could never love you." Her father scoffed at her before he drunk the rest of the bottle and threw it to the floor, causing them both to flinch at the familiar noise before he walked out the room leaving the both of them on the floor, what just happened?

"Sister? Was that really necessary?" Death asked sighing in sadness at the state of his chosen.

"I may control a lot of things brother but they still have free will, I never control every word that comes out their mouth, I just know what they want to say and how it turns out, there are things I can change and things I can't and what he said was going to come out one way or another, rather hear it earlier than later." Life informed him.

"Still, it was cruel." Death said as he watched her cry.

"You have far too much compassion, and if I were human, I would say it'd be the death of you but…" Life said and he chuckled lightly at that, he was death itself after all.

Anastasia didn't know what to say as she stared at the door he had just walked out of with tears running down her face in complete disbelief. She couldn't believe he had told her this now as she sobbed at the unfairness of it all, she had come to this universe hoping to have a changed life, but how was this any different to what she had before. She shook her head as she painstakingly picked herself up with the help of her crutches before walking out the room making sure Liana was beside her. She couldn't stay here after this so she left the house with Liana and once they were outside, they both began walking down the place towards the town but halfway there, her legs gave out from under her as she collapsed on the ground, she couldn't walk anymore, her hip was throbbing too much and it was too painful to even put her foot forward. It was dark out as well but she could see the lights of the shops in the distance so she told Liana to run down there and find someone familiar and ask for help.

She didn't want to send her daughter alone but it was her only chance to get them both safe since she had left her phone at ho... at his place, and she literally couldn't walk anymore. The abrasion on her hip hadn't even had a full day to heal after all and when she had fell to her knees before it had really hurt. It was all too much for her body and adding everything going through her mind, the memories that kept playing on repeat, she didn't think she could take anymore. She rummaged around in her bag, that she had thankfully remembered to grab, for any pain medication but her hand came across her phone, but she had thought she had left it back there, apparently not so she quickly dialled the first number that came in her head and waited for them to pick up. She had only been here for two days and it was a total disaster.

[At the Gilbert Residence]

"He's on the rebound and has raging family issues." Elena said, she was feeling a little down at the thought of Stefan not being over his ex and using her as a rebound.

"Well, at least it's an ex-girlfriend. Wait till you date a guy with mommy issues or cheating issues. Or amphetamine issues." Jenna said as she lists issues she was very familiar with just as Jeremy enters the house.

"Jeremy? Jeremy, where were you?" Jenna asked him concerned.

"More stoner stories? Look, Jenna, I get it, you were cool. And so that's...that's cool." Jeremy said, he was high right now and he was feeling light as a feather, no worries or stress or anything whatsoever so he really didn't want a lecture to ruin it.

"Oh, no, no, no!" Jenna says annoyed before she picks up the first thing she could find and threw it at his head, apparently it was an apple and she hoped if her words didn't, maybe the apple would be able to knock some sense into his head.

"Ow! Why? Why...why did you do that?" Jeremy asked as held his head.

"Listen up! Quit ditching class or you're grounded. No discussion." Jenna said to him sternly.

"Parental authority, I like it. Sleep tight." Jeremy said as he walked up stairs blissfully.

Jenna sighed as he walked away for the second time, she had no idea how to get through to him but her thoughts took a pause as her phone started ringing, it was from Anastasia and she immediately perked up as she answered it.

"Hello? Anastasia?" Jenna asked as Elena looked up from where she was standing.

"H-Hey Jen." The shaky voice of her friend came from the other end.

"Anastasia, are you alright? What's wrong?" Jenna asked worried.

"I… I-I um… I need y-your help, I don't… I don't know what to do Jen… I-I can't walk and I-I…" Anastasia trailed off sobbing.

"Ssh sweetie. It's okay, just tell me where you are. I'll come get you. Don't worry." Jenna said now completely concerned as she heard her friend crying over the phone, what the hell had happened.

"I don't kn-know. I can see the t-town from here, I'm just a little bit away from my house. I-I thought I didn't have my phone w-with me so I sent Liana to get h-help and now I d-don't know where she is. Can you find her first please?" Anastasia asked pleadingly.

"Why don't you wait at your house then whilst I find your daughter?" Jenna questioned confused.

"I-I can't. I can't go back there right now, please just find her. I'll explain l-later." Anastasia said to her wiping away the continuous tears.

"Of course. I'll find her and then I will come and get you, okay? I'm going to go in my car now." Jenna said and after Anastasia agreed, she ended the call before saying, "Shit what do I do? I can't help her alone." Jenna immediately began worrying a she thought about how dark it was, how was she going to find Anastasia and her daughter when it was so hard to see.

"What's going on?" Elena asked her aunt worried, she had only heard once side of the conversation so it sounded like Anastasia has lost her child.

"Do you know where Anastasia lives?" Jenna asked her niece hoping that she did.

"The only person that knows where she lives is Stefan." Elena said since he had dropped her off the other day, she didn't know that Bonnie did too.

"Right. Can you call him?" Jenna said worried for her new friend.

"Uh I don't have his phone number." Elena replied shrugging her shoulders.

"Seriously? Do you know where he could be?" Jenna asked her niece as she worried over what happened to her friend.

"His house or maybe Mystic Grill? I don't know." Elena said before she walked out the house, she needed to lend out the pamphlets now so she couldn't really help. Jenna sighed frustrated before she grabbed her jacket and got into her car hoping she'd find the little girl somewhere, she didn't know what she looked like after all so she was literally playing a guessing game, she was just thankful that there weren't that many kids in Mystic Falls otherwise it'd be impossible to find her.

[At the Hospital]

Vicki wakes up in the hospital bed as she turns to see Matt sleeping in the same chair as always before she goes into the bathroom to wash her hands but when she looks into the mirror she sees a glimpse of Damon and she looks scared as she went back to the room to shake Matt awake hoping for some comfort.

"Matt. Mattie?" Vicki shakes him but as he looks up at her, his face suddenly turns into Damon with his vampire face before she bolts up in bed from the nightmare.

[At Mystic Falls Town Square]

Elena and Bonnie were walking around in the town square handing out pamphlets.

"Tonight, night of the comet! Would you like a program?" Bonnie asked as she handed random passer byes the pamphlet before turning to Elena and asking the same question. She then asked, "He didn't call, huh?" as she noticed her down mood.

"Or text. But I realized we never even exchanged that stuff. We've never gotten to the texting part. It would have been useful today." Elena said in reference to the phone call Jenna had received.

"That's an important milestone in any relationship." Bonnie said whilst promoting the pamphlets.

"Isn't it? The timing is wrong, anyway." Elena said to her friend as she thought about how it probably won't work out.

"When is it ever right?" Bonnie asked Elena exasperated with her constant excuses for her potential relationship to go downhill before it even started.

"I'm not ready, Bonnie." Elena said as she turned to Bonnie.

"Who is?" Bonnie asked her, no one is ready to get into a relationship and giving someone the key to their heart, there was a fifty/fifty chance of everything happening just the way you want it to go but the fear of having your heart broken will always churn around in your mind.

"At least I put myself out there." Elena said referring to when she had went to Stefan's house.

"Is that what you're calling it?" Bonnie asked her raising an eyebrow sceptically.

"What do you mean?" Elena asked confused.

"All I'm hearing is reasons why you can't." Bonnie said bluntly as Caroline, who was wearing a yellow sundress, saw Damon on the other side of the road and begins approaching him but when she gets closer, he suddenly disappeared.

[At Salvatore Boarding House]

"What is Damon doing here? Why did he come home?" Zach asked Stefan annoyed, the normal life he's tried to create for himself was completely ruined by the arrival of his uncles, particularly the older one.

"Cause I came home. He wants to make my life miserable. That's how he enjoys his." Stefan says remembering the promise Damon had made to him all those years ago.

"Well, he's putting us all at risk. This girl in the hospital could talk and so could that girl that was here before. I heard enough to know that she knows." Zach said, he had heard noises coming from the living room so he had went closer and heard some of the conversation.

"They won't. I took care of the girl in the hospital and Ana will never tell anyone." Stefan said to calm down his nephew.

"You're sure?" Zach asked him, he knew because of his different diet that he was more weak compared to other vampires.

"I'm not sure, Zach. I don't know how well it worked. I'm not as strong as Damon." Stefan said and he refused to be because he knew the consequences of doing so.

"So what happens if it doesn't work?" Zach asked thinking about what the council would do if they found out.

"I don't know. I'll deal with it." Stefan said, he knew the risk if his compulsion didn't work but there was nothing else he could do.

"Is she worth it? Uncle Stefan, this girl you came back for?" Zach asked his uncle wondering what was so special about this girl that his uncle still chose to stay despite his brother's return.

Stefan didn't know how to respond to that so he didn't because he didn't think Zach would understand that for him Elena was worth it.
