Chapter 3

Familiar Voice

Tom ran out the door into the streets. Tom hadn't been outside since the incident since he couldn't see. He walked along the sidewalk.

Tom took the emergency bottle of Smirnoff out of his pocket and took a small sip to save it for later.

Around an hour later Tom's bottle was completely empty. Tom would look for a trash can if he could see.

Tom sighed and kept walking. He then bumped into something soft. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" Tom apologized. "Mhm. Oh, it's fine. Though be careful of where you're going." Someone said.

He could smell cigarettes. "Paul let's go." Another voice said. "Hold on Patryck, I need to ask this kid something," Paul responded.

"Are you blind? It's just you don't have eyes and I've seen you walk into a few things." Paul explained.

"Is it really that obvious?" Tom asked. Patryck chuckled, "Very!" He added. "We can take you to our leader, he might be able to make you something to help your blindness." Paul offered.

"Uh… How can I trust you?" Tom asked. "You've done a bunch for this army and didn't even know, it's the least we can do," Patryck said.

"Army? What did I do for this army?" Tom asked. "The zombies in ASDF Land. You killed around half of it, doubled the amount of money it made and its popularity doubled as well. You also saved many lives." Patryck answered.

Tom didn't know what to say when he heard footsteps. "Red leader! We didn't expect you to come back so soon." Paul stated. "Soldier at ease." A voice said.

Tom looked for the source of the voice. "Paul, what is he doing here?" The voice asked. "He's blind, we were wondering if you could cure his blindness," Paul answered.

A gasp was heard from their supposed Red Leader. Tom then felt hands all over his face, one of his hands were metal they were mainly feeling around Tom's eye sockets. "Sorry about that. I'm so sorry!" The Red Leader apologized.

"Um, who are you? Have we met? Your voice sounds familiar," Tom asked. "Just call me Red Leader."Tom nodded. "My name is Tom," Tom said, still curious where he heard the voice before.

"Nice to meet you, Tom," Paul said with a cheerful tone. "Nice to meet you too Paul," Tom said, looking into the distance.

"Do you mind if I carry you? It'll be faster if I carry you." Red Leader asked. "Uh sure…"Tom trailed off. He then picked up Tom bridal style.

Tom could help but feel a little flustered. "Do you mind living with us for a few days?" Paul asked. "I don't mind, I'll just have to let my friends know," Tom explained.

They walked in silence. After a few minutes, they stopped. "We're here." Their Red Leader said. They continue walking. Tom could hear lots of footsteps all around them.

"Tech! Can you get me the visor?" Their Red Leader asked someone. "Ah yes Leader, I thought we were going to throw it out?" A female answered.

"Change of plans, just bring it to my lab." The Red Leader ordered. "Yes Sir!" Tom then heard fast-paced footsteps disappearing into the ocean of footsteps.

'Man I really hate being blind.' Tom pouted. "Can you get the Medic? He's got a few bruises on his face." Red Leader asked. "Yes Sir," Paul said as his footsteps disappeared as well. "Anything you need me to do?" Patryck asked.

"Can you make some food, for me and Tom?" Red Leader asked. "Yes Sir," Patryck said as his footsteps disappeared. "Now let's go to my office," Red Leader stated. Tom couldn't help but wonder what the three of them looked like.

Tom then felt Red Leader position him into a chair. 'It's really comfy,' Tom thought to himself, he felt the chair, it was covered in really soft red fur. Tom then leaned back then sank into it. Tom sighed.

"Comfy isn't it? My most trusted seamstress made it. She's really talented." Red Leader asked. Tom sat up only to lean back in. "Yeah, it's really soft. I could just fall asleep." Tom said sinking further into the chair.

"You can fall asleep if you want. It's going to take a while for me to make your glasses, I'll wake you up when Patryck brings our food." Red Leader offered. "I think I will," Tom said already drifting away to sleep.

"Goodnight Jehova witness," Tord said as Tom had already fallen asleep.
