(SN: Before we begin, I just want to say a few things. 1, originally, this was supposed to be a one-off, but after thinking about it, this will be four chapters instead. 2, spoiler alert, I had to get rid of Yukimaru since this a yuri story and I don't want things to be odd. I do like the guy, but for this tale, he won't be in it. Sorry, Yukimaru X Fena shippers. 3, I hope you enjoy. On with the story.)

Ch1:

Mournfulness and Hidden Feelings

Resting upon the ocean's surface, the ship Bonito 2 floats carefully as the sun shines brightly and the sky is clear blue. Gulls flying all round, squawking their melodies towards one another. Currently on the ship's deck, watching said scenery was the captain and princess, Fena Houtman. As she leaned on the railing of the ship's deck, she was feeling rather disheartened. Not long ago, she had lost someone. Someone…. Who meant the world to her. "Yukimaru…" She mutters as she still mourns for the man she loved.

A few days ago, after being captured by Grace O'Malley and her crew, the Rumble Rose, as well as Abel and his soldiers, Yukimaru was making an attempt to save her. In doing so, he was devastatingly gunned down by Abel and his men. By the time the rest of the crew showed up and were able to help with Fena's rescue, they were unfortunately too late. Sure, they managed to save their captain, but they weren't fast enough to get them out on time. Shortly after getting back to the ship, Yukimaru's wounds were too severe to treat, and so he ultimately died.

In his final moments, he had confessed his love for the princess. Knowing he wasn't going to see her ever again, he had to tell her how he always felt. Before succumbing to his injuries, he had given Fena his sword, telling her to always take care of it. Shortly after words...he had passed on.

Even though it's been a month and a few days, the guilt still weighs on the white-haired girl's mind, as she clutches the blade, he had given her before his passing. It surely wasn't something she could get over for a while. "Yu-Yukimaru…" As the thought of him continues to flood through her mind, tears began to drop down her face. "I'm sorry…Yukimaru!..." The tears continue to fall into the sea.

As Fena kept on crying, someone slowly made their way to the deck. That someone was the other girl and markswoman of the crew, Karin, who was watching the sight of the white-haired girl in this saddened state. It was certainly something the dark-haired girl didn't want to see right now. Seeing her captain this depressed was deeply concerning. Worried about her, the dark-haired girl walks forward to the other girl. Wanting to make her presence, she raises her arm forward and places her hand on Fena's shoulder. "Hey, Fena…" The markswoman speaks, causing the captain to turn her attention towards her.

"Oh...Hey, Karin." The white-haired girl replies in a disheartened tone. "How are you doing?" She tries to wipe away her tears.

"I'm doing fine, but…. I think I'm the one who should be asking you that question instead." Karin had told her. "So, are you alright, Fena?" At first, the haired captain didn't say anything. However, that sad expression still remained on her face. The raven-haired girl could tell something was up. In fact, she had a strong idea what it was. "Still sad over Yukimaru?"

After asking that, tears had resumed running down Fena's cheeks. At this point there was no use hiding it. "Yes…" She answered still in her saddened tone. "I can't stop thinking about that." She lowers her head. "He's no longer with us…and it's all my fault." The pirate princess clutches the blade tightly in sadness and frustration. "If I had never gotten myself captured, he would be here with us an-" The girl didn't get to finish her sentence as she got flicked in the forehead by the other girl. This caused the captain to snap out of it for a moment as she looked back at her crewmate.

From the expression on Karin's face, she seemed a bit annoyed. "There you go, again." The markswoman said in a soft, yet sterned tone. "Fena, what happened to Yukimaru was not your fault." She tells Fena. "You shouldn't have to feel so guilty about that." She tries to reassure her captain that their friend's death wasn't hers to bear. "None of us could blame you for what happened a month ago."

Shortly upon saying that, Karin's tone changed to a bit of grief, as it could be seen in the expression in her eyes. "We miss him too, you know…." The dark-haired pirate said in a bit of a saddened tone of her own. "We were all devastated after we lost him... Heck, we're all still trying to cope with that now."

She then clenches her fist. "However, knowing him, he wouldn't want any of us to continue grieving and keep on going with our lives." Before saying another word, Karin places her hand on white haired girl's, which was on the railing. "That includes you too, Fena." The Markswoman gives a comforting smirk.

After that pep talk from the raven-haired girl, Fena expression had changed from worry to a bit of ease. "You're right." The captain agreed. "Even though it's still sad he's gone, he would want me to keep moving forward." She turns back to Karin with a small, yet comforting smile on her face. "Thank you, Karin." She thanked her friend. "I really needed that."

That was something Karin liked hearing from her captain. "No problem." She responded back to Fena with that comforting grin.

It was quiet for a split moment. That is until, the white-haired girl noticed something that got her a bit concerned. "Umm Karin, your hand is…."

Realizing her hand was still on Fena's from earlier, the markswoman became immediately flustered. "S-Sorry…I forgot that was there!" Karin quickly moves her hand away from the other girl's hand, while turning slightly red.

"Are you alright, Karin?" The other female pirate was concerned after seeing this reaction from the raven-haired girl.

"I'm fine!" Karin shrieks a little. Feeling flustered, she struts away from the white-haired girl who was confused, while she was still a bit red as an apple. As she walked towards the ship's hatch, she stopped to gaze to the side of her as she was looking back at Fena for a second. The Markswoman sighed as she began to think. "Why am I feeling this now of all times?" Karin hadn't told anyone about this. In fact, she couldn't believe it herself, but started to develop these kinds of feelings. Feelings…for Fena.

S

Later that same day, Karin was in her room, looking out the ship's window. She was sort of reflecting back on the days where she chartered out to seas with the rest of the crew. Especially the times when she was with Fena over the course of the voyage. Nobody knows this, but the markswoman had always had some hidden feelings towards her captain. This was something she sort of kept to herself for a while now. When it came to her sexuality, she was always in between. It didn't matter if it was either boy or girl. However, when it comes to the white-haired girl, her heart tends to pound a little faster every time.

There have been a few times where she wanted to ask her out, but she knew the princess and Yukimaru sort of had a thing for each, so she didn't want to get in between the two of them. She would've felt terrible if she caused a wedge like that. She would never forgive herself. Needless to say, she kept those feelings pretty bottled up for a while. That is until now, they were starting to surface back up again.

"Fena…" Karin sighed in thought. While in this state, she looked back a few moments ago. "Crap...That was so dumb of me!" The markswoman blushed as she put both of her hands on her head in irritation. She still felt rather flustered from earlier.

"Everything ok, Karin?" A voice asked, startling the markswoman for a bit.

Turning to the direction of the voice, the raven-haired pirate was greeted by her fellow crewmate, Shitan, standing in front of the doorway. "Oh hey." She normally greeted him with a bit of an annoyed tone. "What's going on, Shitan?"

"Oh nothing, just checking in on you." He replies back with a small smirk, before turning into a look of concern. "Is everything alright with you?" Shitan re-asked.

"I'm alright." Karin replied as she turned a little red.

"Are you sure?" The male pirate questioned. "Are you sure you're not sick? You're red like a tomato."

"I SAID I'M FINE!" The markswoman yelped, as she was still feeling a little embarrassed.

Seeing that his female crewmate was okay, sort of, Shitan didn't bother asking again. "If you say so…" He turns around as he heads back out.

However, before he did, there was something on Karin's mind. "Hey, Shitan…" The other pirate stops and turns back to the direction of his female crewmate. "Just out of curiosity, have you ever had suppressed feelings that had decided to re-emerge, before?"

After hearing that question, the male pirate had to think for a second before answering. It was one that caught him off guard. "I honestly don't believe I have." He answered feeling unsure. "Why do you ask that?" Shitan decided to ask a question of his own. The question he was given kind of made himself a bit curious. "Do you have suppressed feelings that are re-surfacing or something?" He smirked and couldn't help but to giggle a bit.

"Sh-Shut up!" Karin stuttered after getting slightly teased. "Let's just say these feelings are complicated to describe, alright?" She muttered in a bit of embarrassment. "Kind of like if you had them before and you didn't want to risk letting them out."

Upon hearing that, the dark purple haired man became a tad more curious. "So, what you're basically asking is if there's a way to bottle those feelings back up?" He asked. As a response, Karin nodded at the question. Shortly after asking, he looked upward as he placed his hand on his chin. It was something he had to think about for a moment, again. "I'm actually unsure." Shitan answered much to the markswoman's chagrin.

"If I'm being completely honest, I would let out." He tells her, causing the girl to be confused. "Regardless of what type of feelings you're preferring to, it's not really healthy to keep them all bottled up. In a way, it's best to let it out once and a while." Though it was a sensitive type of feeling for her, she'll admit, he brought up a good point. "I hoped that helped in some way. Take care, Karin" Shitan raised his hand goodbye and walked out of the room.

After that brief conversation with her crewmate, Karin had to think for a moment after what he had said. "Let it out, huh?" She repeats back in thought. "I guess so." Though she was still unsure, she knows she can't keep hiding things like this. "Ok, then…One of these days, I'll do it." She bawls her hand into a fist then raises into the air. "I'll tell Fena how I feel!" With a sense of confidence, the Markswoman had vowed to declare her feelings towards her captain. When will it occur? Only time will tell.
