"How do I get a girl to like me?"

Usopps head turns 180 degrees, staring shocked at Luffy.

Chopper looked up confused, stroking his chin "What do you mean? Many girls like you Luffy?"

"Not like that!" Luffy huffs before pulling on his ears "I overheard Zoro and Sanji talking about girls, Sanji in particular was really interested in finding someone he can settle down with. Though I'm not sure why he doesn't think of Pudding." He says with crosses arms.

Chopper nods understanding Luffy question "Well I'd suggest-"

"STOP!" Usopp shouts making Luffy and Chopper go silent as they await his comment. "Why the hell do you care? What about freedom and all that?!"

"Eh? Of course I'm gonna be free, what does that have to do with this?" Luffy asks a little irritated by Usopps question.

"Listen, going out with a nice girl isn't being free, it's being tied together. Like your both sharing a cuff. Your responsible for one another, if your plan is to be free then forget this girl stuff." Usopp explains "Besides it's not like you care about gender."

Luffy finds himself agreeing with Usopp, nodding contently "Right... but..." he looks up with a bit of determination in his eyes "What if it's fun?"

"Love isn't a game." Usopp snaps clearly worried about Luffy "Love can really hurt people. You can't just think of it like a game, you don't win or lose, you just end up together, or hurt."

"I'll make sure they don't get hurt!" Luffy states patting his chest.

"This isn't just physical Luffy! It's more than that. Girls and Guys think differently, they aren't gonna do whatever you wanna do, just as you might not wanna do what they wanna do." Usopp points at his head, clearly emphasizing the mental aspect.

Luffy rubs his face with a long groan "So then is love good or not?"

"Well in my culture, men fight over women. And the male who one gets the female. Though Male reindeer typically have a harem who they mate with." Chopper explains.

"A harem?" Luffy repeats.

"YOU DO NOT NEED A HAREM!" Usopp shouts.

"I need to think." Luffy stands up rubbing his face as he walks out of the mens cabin clearly overwhelmed by the knowledge bomb dropped on him. Thinking about the concept of love and what they talked about he thinks of the only person who every really talks about it. Walking into the kitchen to find his cook doing the dishes.

"Luffy I'm not giving you a snack right now." Sanji says without even batting an eye at the Captain.

Luffy lets out a long sigh as he sits at the empty table.

Sanji glances over seeing Luffys thinking face. He exhales softly before wiping his hands "Whats the problem Captain?"

Luffy lets out a small huff before squishing his cheeks together "What is love?"

Sanji nearly chokes on his cigarette, dropping it as he coughs intently from the surprise of Luffys out of character question.

Luffy watches as Sanji gets himself a glass of water, chugging it before gasping loudly.

"What?" Sanji asks loudly.

Luffy breathes out resting his face on the table "What is love?"

Sanji processes Luffys question, taking a deep breath as he picks up his dropped cigarette throwing it away before pulling out a fresh one, lighting it "Why ask?"

Luffy holds the edge of the table, tapping his fingers on the hard wood "I caught Usopp making another letter to Kaya, and he talked about how he really loved her even to this day."

Sanji smiles "Good for him, loyalty is important."

Luffy looks up, putting his chin on the table as he stares confused at Sanji "So? What's loyalty got to do with love?"

Sanji thinks for a moment on how to properly explain this. He walked over the table, sitting beside Luffy as he taps his finger to his chin "Love... I'm sure you know what love is right? Like how you love meat."

Luffy nods "I get that... but... is there like another version or?"

"Love is the just a great pleasure or desire or even happiness for a particular person, a thing, really anything." Sanji explains "Such as your love for meat, Mossheads love for alcohol, and Robins love for books."

"So there isn't really anything specific?" Luffy questions.

"Love is subjective." Sanji says putting his leg over his knee "Like Mosshead loves alcohol, and you don't. Like I love women, and not people like Ivankov." He said with a shudder.

Luffy lowers his head "Then... do I like women?"

Sanji blinks before chuckling "Your most definitely an all rounder. You don't seem to care about any one gender. You kinda just make friends with everything."

"So would I be able to love someone?"

Sanji snorts loudly, covering his nose as he chuckles a little "Luffy I'd say you love everyone who isn't horrible unconditionally."

Luffy pouts "Is love really hard?"

Sanji smiles softly "It can be... it can really ruin a person. But you don't need to worry about that, just be your free single self. You seem to be happier this way so I wouldn't change if I were you."

Luffy nods solemnly before standing up and walking out of the kitchen. He finds himself in an even bigger mess than he was before. Between Usopp explaining how difficult it is to keep a relationship, to Sanji saying why bother when his life is perfect already. He steps onto the deck, feeling overwhelmed and in need of someone to sort these thoughts for him. He glances over seeing his orange haired navigator laying atop a lawn chair. As he walked over to her he sees her pull up her shades.

"Stop." Nami says blatantly halting Luffy in his tracks.

Luffy tilts his head confused seeing her sit up.

"You stink." Nami says as honest as possible.

Luffy sniffs under his arms, not really smelling anything "Uh... okay? Nami I just-"

"Take a shower first." Nami states very clearly.

"But Nami..." Luffy whined before seeing her glare.

"I promise I'll talk after you clean yourself up." Nami says before pointing toward the inside of the ship.

Luffy groans exhaustedly before walking inside to take a quick shower. After 30 minutes he comes back out to the deck in a plain shirt and short "Am I good?"

Nami stands from her chair walking toward him.

Luffy steps back a little, seeing her sniff his neck and chest.

Nami nods before looking him in eyes "That's better, so what did you want to talk about?"

Luffy blinked a little weirded out by the whole situation before recalling his question, believing that to be of greater importance. He takes a deep breath "So I heard Robin and Franky talking about love, and so I thought about it for a bit and thought "Could I be in love?" So then i went to Usopp and Chopper and asked "Could I love a girl?" Usopp told me very seriously that it takes time and dedication, and that it could really affect a person when it doesn't go well. Then Chopper brought up harems then Usopp said I shouldn't have one. So then i went to Sanji and asked "What is love" and of course he told me what I already knew but then I asked "Could I be in love with someone?" And he told me I'm already in love with everything and there'd be no point and said I should just be single and free and now i feel like I will never love cause im not that kind of guy." He says in one breath, not looking out of breath at all afterword.

Nami blinks stroking her chin as she repeats everything he said in her head. "So you just wanna know if you can fall in love without it being this complicated thing?"

Luffy having already forgotten what he said just nods in agreement.

Nami sighs "Listen, im sure you can fall in love. Hell you love meat, a somewhat individual thing. It shouldn't be so hard for you to love a single person, that person would have to know you inside and out and understand who you are and wouldn't ask you to change."

"So someone I know really well?" Luffy sums it up.

"Preferably, someone who either adapts to your mannerisms, or has found ways to work with them. You just too dominant to stop, therefor your partner would have to work around you." Nami explains.

"I'm dominant?" Luffy asks a bit worriedly.

"Of course you are!" Nami shouts "You literally only listen to yourself or a select few. You very much one of the strongest pirates in the world, and your the Captain of this very ship. If that's not dominant then I don't what is."

"Is that bad? To be dominant?" Luffy questions seeing as her temperament flared up during her explanation.

"To some, other would rather be dominant then be dominated. Unless your willing to pull back just to work around them, which I really wouldn't recommend for someone like you." Nami shakes her head.

Luffy grabs his hair with a long deep sigh "I... still don't understand. It really is simple but complicated. I can love but, all this extra stuff makes it sound more than just simple."

"It may not be as simple as you like, but it's not as complicated as your imagining." Nami says crouching beside him.

"Usopp was talking about hurting peoples feelings, and Sanji talked about just staying single so I don't have to deal with those." Luffy murmurs "Maybe I'm just not the loving type."

"Okay I'm done with this." Nami says before grabbing Luffy by the collar of his shirt pulling him up to his feet to his surprise. "Listen well! You, Luffy, are one of, if not, the most loving person this world has ever had. You've fought for friends, enemies, even strangers. You don't let anything get in the way of your relationships with others and most of the time you know how your friends or family truly feel. You understand people, you know hot to get through, you know how to make them happy, and you know how to bring them back. You aren't good at socializing but your good at people. Your the heart of this ship, spreading your happiness to everyone. Usopp isn't experienced in love, and Sanji's vision of love is somewhat spewed for lust. Just be yourself, cause you are the embodiment of love."

Luffy blinks at her, gulping at her claim.

"Am I clear? Do you understand now?" Nami asks sternly seeing him nod. She smiles, patting his shoulders "You already know how to love someone. It's just a matter of who you'd show everything to. What makes you happy and sad, your weaknesses and strengths. The love your asking about is personal, intimate, and only for one person beside yourself. You a group kinda guy, who loves to be surrounded by friends and family, but this love is small, between you an another. Is this the kind of love you were talking about?"

Luffy nods softer, never breaking his eyes from hers.

"I'd say for you it'd take some time to get used to. But that person, in the simplest way of explaining, would be your best friend, like they be the closest thing to family. You'd tell them what you were thinking, how your feeling, what you want." Nami explains holding Luffys still hand. "You treat them with care, it's very intimate and loving between the two of you. You could say you'd do almost anything for them, and know they're so the same for you."

Luffy feels her fingers intertwine with his, seeing her close what little space they had between each other.

"Your very open, and wether you try to be or not, very selfish. To love someone, you have to put your needs aside for them. You have to think about each other, and what's best for you two. Are you following?" Nami asks getting another nod. "When, or, if, a girl likes you. She will be, very difficult at first. She'd expect a lot out of you if she didn't know you already, but with time, she'd give you that love you sought, of course it's the same both ways, but eventually youll both wanna get closer, more passionate, just as you two got to know each other, you'll want to see everything."

Luffy gasp quietly feeling her chest press against his.

"I'm just saying, it's only you two. Of course you can still talk with friends and hang out like nothing changed. But if you have a girl or guy or whatever, they want some attention as well. You could say your giving them a bit of favoritism." Nami giggles "Did that clear it all up?"

Luffy nods with a bright smile "Yep, thanks Nami."

Nami returns his smile with her own, lowering her head a little to glance at the grassy lawn "You welcome."

"Now I have just one more question..." Luffy sighs scratching his head.

"Yes?" Nami asks awaiting his next question.

"Who to fall in love with?"
