Chapter 1: The Child and the Beast

The boy stomped angerly away from the village. How dare they say he wasn't ready. He had trained for this for as long as could remember. But no, the elders had said he was too immature.

"Bull SHIT" he yelled.

He was 12, practically a man. He wasn't some sniveling child. Those certainly weren't tears he was angrily wiping away. The boy resolved to stop sulking. He ran, ran as fast as he could through the forest. He just barely skidded to a stop at the end of a ledge. Then he heard a rumble from below and started to slip down the side. He managed to catch on to a long ledge. Pulling himself up the boy saw that he was outside the entrance of deep cave. He smirked and snorted. If they wouldn't give him a dragon, he would find one himself.

Tentatively he snuck into the cave. It took all his self-control to remain quiet. Inside he was exploding with excitement. The dragon was sleeping soundly as he crept up to it. After a few minutes it let out an earthshattering snore.

"Seriously! You nearly killed me with THAT. Lousy bastard."

The boy's yelling woke the dragon. Its eyes glowed green. In the added light the boy could see that the creature was a forest green in color. As it stood up the boy's heart raced.

Then the creature spoke. Its voice was surprisingly quiet.

"Oh, oh no. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I almost killed you mister. Are you ok?"

The boy instinctively ducked as soon as the beast began to speak, expecting flames. None came. The boy moved tentatively closer causing the dragon to shrink back. That was when he noticed something unexpected.

"What the hell kind a dragon doesn't have wings?"

"A defective one." The dragon replied, bowing his head.

"How'd ya even get up hear?" The boy questioned.

"I hatched here. My father made it clear to the rest of our clan that I was not to receive help in leaving."

"Why are you still alive then, let me guess you lure idiots in and eat them." The boy smirked. "Sorry to disappoint. I taste terrible."

"No, I'd never." The dragon stammered. "My mother disapproved of father's methods. She was sneaking me animals until a day or so ago. I fear father has found out and…"

The beast's eyes welled and streams of water leaked out. The boy stared in shock at so much water coming from such a creature. An idea presented itself and the boy grinned.

"Hey, calm down."

The dragon continued crying.

The boy fumed and punched the creature in the snout. The dragon just blinked at him.

"Thanks, I needed that."

The boy wondered what it would actually take to get this creature angry.

"That's just what he would have done" the dragon explained.

"Your dad?" the boy ventured.

"No, one of my brothers. He's the only one outside of mother who actually care."

"I guess dragons would consider aggression a positive, huh." The boy smiled.

"No, he did it because father would do worse if he saw me crying."

The boy blinked. What was with this useless dragon. This wouldn't work. The boy though for a second and changed his mind. He could train this dragon to be tough. That would worth more than just getting handed a dragon by those stupid elders.

"I can get you food if you help me afterwards."

"How would you get it down here?"

"You could come to the edge and stick out your head, I guess." The boy offered.

The dragon snorted. Though it still produced neither smoke nor fire.

"I may be weak but I'm not a fool. Besides you think you could throw big game down here?"

The boy gritted his teeth. Streams of air snorted out his nostrils.

"I'll be back tomorrow then" The boy called out leaving the cave.

The dragon called after him, but the sound was too soft to be heard.

The next morning the boy went out with a bow. He was able to down three sizable deer. He bled one and left them at the top of the cliff. There was a small rumble followed by a roar-like yawn. Within a few minutes claws grasped the edge of the ledge. The boy hid just in time to only hear the sound of meat being devoured. He came back to face the dragon, a cock-sure smile on his face.

"Well looks like your old man was wrong."

The dragon cocked its head.

"You got yourself out" the boy elaborated.

The dragon stood up to its full height, seven feet or so. Small for a dragon. Its tail swinging happily. The creature placed its head and front claws at the boy's feet.

"Thank you for your aid. I am forever in your debt."

The boy looked down in surprise. He had expected gratitude but not this much so quickly.

"What is your name human?" the beast asked.

"Katsuki Bakugou" the boy aid proudly.

The dragon nodded.

"Thank you for your kindness, Katsuki."

Katsuki blinked still stunned. The dragon lifted itself back onto all fours.

"My name is Izuku of the Shigaraki clan, and I will grant you any boon you ask.

Katsuki looked up at Izuku. A crazed smile lit up his face.

"I want a dragon, I want you."

The dragon looked aback for a second, but quickly bowed his head.

"This I will happily grant you Katsuki Bakugou."

Bakugou blinked. He didn't think I would have been that easy. As the dragon followed him out of the woods, he could help but wonder why.

'Exactly how bad is his father?'
