NOTE: Hello everyone; I am Reboot. And welcome to an interesting side project of mine, one I intend to use for writing practice, and that I hope you'll become as invested in as I am…

To explain, this story will be a crossover between Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Danganronpa, taking place in the former's universe; the events of the games are canon, though I'd be lying if I told you they'll be coming especially into effect. And for those unaware of the latter, I wouldn't worry; this story requires no prior knowledge of the franchise, as all shall be explained within the story itself.

With that said, I see no reason to delay getting into the brunt of this. Enjoy~

A plateau stood at the center of the world, towering over a vast sea of trees surrounding it on all sides, and dwarfing even the largest of mountains within view. If one were to look up at it, they'd think they'd have found the very peak where Gods would rest.

The reality, of course, could be interpreted as far plainer, but to think as much did a disservice to the truth of the matter. Because, standing atop the plateau laid a settlement; the home to some of the land's greatest heroes. Known far and wide across the land, it was the home…

Of the Wigglytuff Guild.

Located on the outskirts of Treasure Town, one of the major landmarks of the Grass Continent, it was considered the most prestigious, respected guild in the world. In its sacred halls located deep within the earth, some of the greatest instructors on the planet would help their apprentices reach their full potential. When you entered for the first time, you were nobody. But when you exited, you'd be guaranteed a life of adventure; of fame and fortune, widespread love, and anything you could ever want. The world would become yours to explore to your liking, a walking, talking showcase of what anybody could become under the guild's wing, because…Because…

After so many tragedies were inflicted upon the world, the guild meant something to many of us. It had become a centerpiece of hope for a better tomorrow.

And standing at the edge of the steps going up toward this very guild, a cloak wrapped around her body as she stared up in awe…Was her.

The lady stared up at the monolith before her, unsure how to proceed. This was a dream come true in so many ways for her…And she still remembered how she had learned she'd gotten in, arriving home from work just in time to see the usual Pelipper drop something off at her door…

A sealed envelope, with a pink stamp. She remembered the words detailed on it clear as day…

"Greetings! Apologies for messaging you unprompted, but we felt it important to inform you that you have been cordially invited to visit our esteemed home, the Wigglytuff Guild. Introductions shall commence upon your arrival. We hope to hear back from you soon.

Sincerely, Chatot, assistant to Wigglytuff."

To receive such a message from any guild was unusual as is, but to receive it from the most renowned, beloved one in the land?! It…It could only mean…

Breathing in, she shook these thoughts away. She turned her attention back toward the steps before her…

"...Am…Am I worthy of going here though?"

"I'm nothing special…Even among my peers, I've always felt so painfully ordinary…"

"...But…This had to mean otherwise, right? Maybe the guild saw something in me that even I couldn't see myself?"

"...I've come this far…"

"S-So I should just do it!"

With a renewed sense of confidence, no matter how scarce, she raced up the steps of the plateau. She could feel her body steadying with anticipation; with determination! She was going to make everybody back home proud! And…And…

She was gonna be a hero.

Once she had reached the top, she saw it; the famous Wigglytuff tent, the guildmaster in question's image built into it. She walked toward the entrance, only stopping just at the entrance…

Her body straightened. She held her head up high…

"...Onward…To a better tomorrow…"

And in an instant, everything became a daze. Her world began to spin and darken, and what was once reality became a cruel, corrupted version of itself. She couldn't scream through the tumultuous snarling all around her, her knees caving in and arms going limp. And then, before she could stop herself, she collapsed, smashing into the ground at full force, her body spasming and twitching as a sort of foam began to pour out from her mouth.

With that...Everything went black. The world was consumed by darkness, as she fell into a deep sleep.

THE GAME MUST BEGIN.

WIGGLYTUFF HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY.

TIME FOR THE PUNISHMENT!

Spotlights shined down from seemingly nowhere, the darkness surrounding a lone man now being illuminated ever so faintly with a shimmering light. It was Wigglytuff…The headmaster of the famous Wigglytuff Guild, his massive size on full display.

His eyes flickered open…And realized something was wrong.

He was sitting in his usual seat atop a red carpet…Only, he couldn't move. He shifted his gaze down to see straps of some kind wrapped around his waist, arms, and feet. Glaring, he tried to pry himself from these straps, expecting them to snap in an instant…Only for nothing to happen. His eyes went wide with shock, and his body started to shift around, desperate to break out from his constraints.

Then, more lights flickered on. He turned to them…And saw it. Lined up in front of him were seven stuffed dolls of various shapes and sizes. Ones who resembled…

A Chatot…A Chimecho…A Sunflora…A Crawdaunt…An Exploud…A Bibarel…A Toxicroak…

All laying there, against one another, staring at him with their blank, soulless eyes. The headmaster could feel the sweat dropping down the side of his face. He glanced side to side in fear, and then…He saw it…

There was a lantern suspended from the ceiling loosely from a rope, one which grew thinner and thinner, as bits and pieces of it began to give way. Until it finally did, the lit lightsource falling through the air, then landing at the doll's feet.

In an instant, the seven dolls burst into flames, their forms engulfed by light. Wigglytuff watched on helpless as they burned before him, his struggling only increasing, desperate to free himself from these confides, as he watched something step through the flames…

They were some sort of rodent, with short, stubby arms and feet and a tiny nose, along with a pair of almond-shaped ears. But…Their body…Vertically down the center of it, was a sort of line, separating two wholly different halves. The left side was a sickly off-white color, with a wide black eye and a toothy grin. The right side, however, looked to be a burnt black color, with a red glaring glass eye trapped into a perpetual scowl.

It was as if comparing two sides of the same coin; one shiny and spotless, the other dirty and scarred.

The rodent stared on for a moment, before revealing something from behind it's back; a gray cube, with some sort of red button on it. Wigglytuff watched it laugh to itself, it's whole body shaking in rhythm to it. And in one quick flick of its hand, it pressed the button.

Suddenly, walls of metal burst forth from the floor. Wigglytuff only had time to get out a single second of a scream before he was completely covered; surrounding where he had once been was a large metal box, with wheels plasted to its left and right, rockets strapped to the bottom…And a large drill on top. In the center of the top of it was a glass orbed light, red in color.

Said drill began to spin, as the red light…Turned to green.

ONWARD TO A BETTER TOMORROW!

The rockets lit up, springing out further as they suddenly shot upward. The box began to lift, smashing into the stone ceiling, as the drill began to twist. Rocks shot out from it like shrapnel, souring past the captor's head and instead ripping through the still lit up dolls, stuffing flying out from them as they were shot through by the pebble artillery.

Within minutes, the drill powered through the rock, going deeper and deeper into the ground above, shaking uncontrollably all the while. Inside, Wigglytuff helplessly was thrown about the inside of the box, his body smashing into the walls over and over again, bruises building on each other as he screamed for help.

Suddenly, above ground, the drill rocket burst through to the sunlight, sailing up higher and higher into the air!

…Until…The rockets went out

And just like that, what was once airborne, began to plummet. It sank deeper and deeper, launching back toward the earth as growing speed, flying straight past the plateau it had escape from and toward the trees below.

The rocket smashed through the trees, logs tumbling and smashing apart as it blew through them like a battering ram. This continued for a few hundred feet, until, thankfully, it came to a reluctant stop, the metal box scraping across the last few inches with a cruel hiss…

All was silent…Until something began to leak out from the inside of the box. It was syruppy in texture, and was originally a mere drizzle swiftly turned into a waterfall, pouring out from every crack inside the box, until the door gave way-

And a body tumbled out. It was scarred beyond recognition, utterly unrecognizable as the once great headmaster of his famous guild. He was pale, everything that had once been in him bursting forth upon impact. His eyes were beginning to gloss over…

He tilted his head up toward the sky, sunlight beaming down as he raised a hand, desperate to touch the sun…Before his body went limp.

And, staring out, binoculars on their face, the rodent captor stared out at its handiwork as they watched the life leave the rabbit's eyes. And soon, it found itself rocking back and forth, its pearly white teeth shimmering as it cackled mockingly at the fate of the poor, unknown man.

Wigglytuff had just become the first victim of the rodent's game...And he wouldn't be the last.

CH1 NOTE: Yes, I know, I'm sorry I killed off everybody's beloved childhood icon (and fairly brutally as well), but with time you'll come to know why. As for the fates of the guild's other members…Who knows? Well…I do, but that'll be for future use. Regardless. This was I how decided to open the story. If nothing else, I certainly hope it caught your eye…

Next time however…The meat of the game begins…
