"Good morning beautiful, happy birthday" he whispered into her ear as she stirred and slowly turned to him. "If I go back to sleep can I wake up again and be 40 instead" she mumbled sleepily. He just laughed, "unfortunately darling that's not how it works" he answered before kissing her. "I can't change your age but i can try and make you feel better about it" he stated before trailing kisses along her body, she pulled him closer and lowered her head to meet his, "I love you" she managed to say before crashing their lips together, passion coursing through them. Just as Eddie began to undress his wife they were interrupted by a trail of children bursting through the bedroom door. "Well bang goes that idea" he grumbled pulling the covers back over them as the girls climbed across their bed, ignoring him in a desperate rush to wish their mum a happy birthday. "Happy birthday Mum" said daisy, their middle child, she was 7 and quite the character, "I made you a card but it's just from me because I'm the best child" she said before handing over her masterpiece, giving her mum a big kiss on the cheek and hugging her then turning to her dad, "can we go make mum breakfast now" she asked and Eddie rolled his eyes. Their eldest daughter, Gracie was 9 and trying to act completely uninterested in the whole thing but really she loved the fact her mum was getting some attention. "Happy birthday" she said before handing over a present she had wrapped herself and giving her mum a quick kiss on the cheek. Then it was their youngest, little Emilia who was only 4 had little understanding of what was going on but her sisters had told her what to say and she knew it was her turn. She fell into her mother's arms, "happy birthday mama" she said before covering her in kisses and hugging her tight. Eddie just lay there beaming at the scene before him. His incredible wife and their beautiful children, he really was the luckiest man alive. "Right girls who's going to help me with breakfast" he asked in a bid to get Rachel alone for two more minutes, his question had the desired effect and all three girls rushed out of their room and headed downstairs. "How lucky are we" she whispered cuddling into him, "" he answered before handing Rachel a bag, "this is one part of your present from me". "I thought you could wear it when I take you and the girls out to dinner tonight" he explained before kissing her. "Daddy can you hurry up" please came a voice from the bottom of the stairs and he reluctantly pulled away from his wife, "whose idea were the children" he joked his time nothing but joyful. "That would be yours" she giggled "well in that case I better go and stop them setting fire to the kitchen" he groaned rolling his eyes. "You love it really" she responded "that I do" he smiled pulling on his dressing gown and slippers "you my dear need to get up" he finished shutting the bedroom door behind him as she climbed out of bed.
