Chapter 1: Carl's contentment

Carl Meninger was feeling joyful as the reunions were taking place. He had witnessed the destruction of Carpathia and the Global Community. Then he witnessed the honoring of the Old Testament Saints. Carl then watched as the tribulation martyrs were rewarded. Carl was overjoyed to see John Preston getting rewarded for saving Carl's life back on the Peacekeeper One. Carl remembered how frightened he had been that day. That was clearly a foreign emotion now.

He clearly had been baffled by John's sacrifice. Carl had thought about what happened that day many times. If the roles had been reversed, would Carl have done the same? Carl would have felt too afraid, as he cherished his own life. Carl didn't know back then what he knew now. Carl was grateful for what John did, as he wouldn't be here now if that had not happened.

Carl was glad that he had joined the Young Tribulation Force. They had risked their lives so many times during those seven years. Now, all 20 Young Tribulation Force members were together and no longer had to hide in fear any longer. It was the first time that all of them were together at the same time.

Carl figured that he would go to his hometown of Elmont, New York and check out how the town looked now. Carl wanted to rebuild Elmont and revamp the city. Make it look better during those thousand years. He would no longer need to fear the Global Community or those GC officials that hunted him down and wanted him dead.

Carl felt optimistic about what the future would bring.
