"Please gather all your dead in one place." I say to the villagers.

After I arrived with Enri and her sister, I made them call all villagers, they need to hear what I'm going to say.

"Uh, um.. We are grateful to you milord, but what do you intend to do with our dead one's?" Asked the village chief, whom was a large bearded man with wearing a beany, probably at his late 50's.

Oh yeah, what I'm going to do you ask? Simple...

I'm going to deviate from Ainz actions. Where he understandably want to conserve his wand of resurrection, I can revive the dead without any penalties.

Yes, I'm going to do a miracle.

But not just because I feel pity for them, but they need more manpower.

Unlike Ainz, I don't have items that can call goblins or such to give Enri.

But I have a plan, one that is definitely insane. But I don't have much of a choice really.

Compared to Ygdrassil, Hyrus online is SEVERELY LACKING. Understandable as it's just a mobile game.

Ainz has hundreds of skills and his inventory is full of so many useful items.

Me? I have only 20 skills, and my inventory only has so few items.

So what do I need right now? Allies.

I'm not gonna go around recruiting though. I need strong allies, not pushovers.

And this village will be my base of operations.

Honestly, I never knew that there will be a time I'm doing something like this. I'm usually just keeping it all simple.

Nevertheless, I have to act.

"I'm going to make an exception this time. Please do as I ask, I don't intend on harming your families. You'll see what I'll do yourselves."

The villagers stared at the village chief, awaiting for his word.

"Alright then, we will trust you milord." His words made the other's jaw's drop.

Though reluctant, they did as I said.

I simply nodded, I knew that they're suspicious of me. Still, I don't like how some are looking at me with awe.

For some reason, being gawked at irritates me. Luckily my mini scowl was obscured by my hood.

"By the way milord, may we know the name of our saviour?" The village chief turned to ask.

He along with some villagers stared at me.

Name huh...

'Yep, I've thought about this scenario. And I've decided what my name will be.'

It won't be Ted or Moe Tivay Shion.

From now on, I will be...

"Maestus Solaris."

Like Momonga using the name of his guild, I will use my own.

...

...

42 dead bodies, covered in blankets.

It's a good thing I have high MP regen. Though I still have a lot of MP potions prepared just in case.

Forcing down my nausea, I went to the closest corpse, a man judging by its shape then held my hand above him.

"Ray of Resurrection."

Upon casting, a bright yellow glow emanated from my hand, encompassing the corpse.

After a few seconds, the glow grew dimmer, then disappeared.

Gasp!*

"Wha-!?"

"Oh Gods!"

"A-A-A Saint!"

All around me, gasps and words of disbelief echoes as I watched the former corpse twitched and moved, before finally sitting up.

The man was in his mid 40's, brown hair and eyes.

He looked around confused, then at himself. He stared at his hands and his bloodied brown shirt.

For some reason, there's this familiar feeling I get from him.

"Father!" Both Enri and Nemu exclaimed and ran over to the man.

'Ooohh, I didn't know he's the father. He's so irrelevant that I forgot and didn't realize who he was.' I thought.

"What? Wait, Enri? Nemu? How did-" The man uttered, still confused by his apparent revival.

"It's understandable that you're still confused, after all...well, let me just show you." I said to the man before going to another corpse and then..

"Ray of Resurrection."

Like what I did to the man, I revived the one next to him.

And like Enri's father, the boy, who was probably a few years older than Enri, looked around confused.

"Harold!" A blonde woman in her 50's ran past me and hugged the boy.

"Mother? How-? Aren't I dead? I remember getting stabbed." The boy asked his mother, who is crying profusely.

Wordlessly, I continued resurrecting the others. Ignoring the joyous and awed remarks.

I don't know why but, for some reason, I get a little eased everytime I resurrect someone. Keeps my mind off of the blood on my hands.

I'm pretty sure it's my guilt though.

12 minutes and 25 MP potions later, I finally resurrected the last corpse.

"Lord Maestus!" A call from behind made me turn, only to see the entirety of the villagers kneeling.

I tensed, unsure why but I felt...a little irritated by the sight. Not embarrassed, or happy...huh, weird.

I sighed to calm myself then said...

"Please stand up, I am not some sort of a deity. Just a man who knows a few magic."

"Surely you jest, not even the rumored leader of an Adamantite Adventurer party, Blue Rose, can do what you did! You have to be a Saint of the Six Gods!" Exclaimed a man beside the village chief.

They all nodded in agreement. On what? I don't want to know.

"Whether or not it's true, it doesn't matter. I do not want to be treated as such, also, please keep everything you saw a secret. That is all I can ask of you." I say calmly, carefully not showing my irritation.

Something is definitely wrong with me. I don't know why but seeing them praise me and stare at me with awe is irritating.

I don't remember any lore pertaining to this, so it has to be something else.

"Of course Lord Maestus! Our Saviour's request shall be met!" The village chief almost yelled joyously.

"Also, can I have a room to rest in? As expected, I am a little tired." I said.

Mentally and emotionally that is.

"At once milord!" Said the Village Chief as he gestured for me to follow, which I did.

...

...

...

I layed there on a simple bed, pondering on what to do.

I couldn't sleep, I couldn't even find the appetite to eat when they offered me some.

All I could think of were the bodies of those whom I killed, the screams and pain I caused and...and the fear in their eyes.

The way they looked at me like a monster made me feel antsy. Though there was a part of me that relished in it. And that sickens me.

I think back over the storyline of Hyrus Online.

I tried to find something, anything that could possibly make sense on why I feel this way.

I didn't dwell on it much, but seeing as it's affecting me more, I have no choice but to acknowledge it.

My personality is changing.

"Tsk!" I clicked my tongue.

Being alone with my thoughts...makes me think of things I usually ignore. Things I usually don't want to bother with.

The blood on my hands, and the one I left behind.

Shaking my head, I focused on something that needs to be addressed more. Which is the quantity of what I can do.

I've just realized one thing, can I learn magic?

I mean, if you think about it, I have Mana. That much is pretty obvious at this point.

Though how do I learn it is another question.

As far as the story can tell, only Fluder Paradyne can teach me 4th to 1st tier magic. But if he sees my mama level, he will think that I'm some sort of a God.

Not to brag but, I can actually feel how absolutely massive my Mana pool is, though I don't know, by how much when it's compared to Ainz.

I could go and try to learn from Evileye, the magic caster of Blue Rose.

But the problem with that however, was the change on me.

You see, even the thought of the Undead brings a small tinge of disgust inside me. It's as if the mere mention of them gives me some sort of a reviling reaction.

Luckily though, my human side is still in full control. It does however make me anxious at the thought of it getting worse.

Now back to magic.

Once I'm done with the incoming Sunlight Scripture, I'mma head out to go and try my luck in using the Tier Magic of Ygdrassil.

And possibly even try to practice flying. I do have wings remember.

Speaking of Sunlight Scripture, I plan on stealing the Crystal from Nigun and use it to protect this village while I'm away.

And also loot their gold. It's just impossible for them to not have any money in their pockets.

"...hahhh.."

I sighed, knowing that I'm going to have to kill again. Damnit!

Just the thought of it makes me ill.

"...no no, focus me, focus..."

There is one more thing I have to consider.

The Slane Theocracy's watchful eye.

Now I don't have countermeasures against that like Ainz does, the only thing I can do is to wear a mask.

I do have an Avatar item in my inventory.

Lish'ra of Melancholy's mask.

Fitting it's name, it's a blue mask with purple melancholic face painted over it.

One thing about using avatars is, you cannot use two or more head avatars at the same time.

The Scout Regimen's hood is a head avatar, and so is the Melancholic mask.

"But there could be exceptions now right?" I said as I reached to to the air like I'm gonna get something.

...how do I access my inventory?

...

...

...

The village chief hastened his approach on his house.

One of the lookouts who was on the tower has informed them of an incoming group of what seemed to be armored men on horses.

This news made the him and the villagers unnerved. Sure, their saviour is still resting and is proved to be powerful.

But the notion that there were multiple groups trying to kill them seemed unrealistic.

At the back of his head, the village chief deduced that there was some sort of a conspiracy going on.

Finally reaching his destination, the village chief reached out to open the door, only for it to open and reveal their saviour.

However, a difference he immediately noticed was the odd Blue mask under his hooded face.

It made him step back, unsure whether to ask about it but decided not to and focused on the more important matters.

"Someone's coming?" Their saviour asked, cutting the village chief from speaking.

Eyes widened, the village chief slowly nodded, wondering how their saviour knew.

"Please gather the rest of the villagers in a safe place just in case, you and I will meet the guests." Maestus's words made the village chief nervous for a second.

Seeing the anxious look on the chief's face, Maestus put a hand on his shoulder and said:

"I won't let any of you die chief, please remember that."

...

...

"What do you think is going on Captain?" A man with short blonde hair asked his fellow.

Gazef Stronoff, a buff man with dark brown hair and beard led his platoon towards Carne Village.

Being the Warrior Captain of the kingdom of Re-estize and the right hand man of the King, he personally received the orders from his liege.

There was an information about a group of Empire knights crossing the border.

He was sent to investigate, and upon doing so, learned that there was an attack on the villages of the kingdom.

Though Gazef has an inkling that this was a mere ploy drawn to eliminate him.

By who? The nobles of the Kingdom.

Though with the statements of the surviving villagers, he cannot really cement that thought.

Whether or not the Empire did attack, he had to put those thoughts aside as he approached Carne Village.

From afar, he can see no smoke, which lifted his spirit as they might not be too late.

Hastening, he and his men closes the distance, though still understandably on guard. And it didn't help that their horses kept neighing and turning back, as if afraid of something.

This could be just a trap.

And that thought almost seemed true as they see two figures waiting for them at the entrance.

Signalling his men, they approached cautiously. Reigning their horses while calming them.

When the figures finally got clearer, Gazef and his men were confused.

For the two figures were that of a bearded old man in his late 50's and a hooded man...in odd clothing.

His attire was almost fancy, yet it had the military feel to it.

Although the strange man's posture wasn't of one. His was relaxed, way too relaxed.

But if there's one thing that makes Gazef on edge, was the aura the strange man exuded.

It's massive and...almost inhuman. Was he the reason their horses were afraid?

Gazef and his men stopped 5 meters away from the two.

Both sides were silent for a second before Gazef spoke.

"I am Gazef Stronoff, the Warrior Captain of Re-estize Kingdom. Under the orders of the King, we have come to root out the Knights that have been causing trouble."

"I am Marc, the Village Chief and this man right next to me is Lord Maestus Solaris, our saviour." The village chief gestured towards Maestus.

"Greetings Sir Gazef." Maestus bowed lightly.

"Likewise Lord Maestus, wait- saviour?" Gazef raised an eyebrow, only for a realization to sink in.

"Yes Sir Gazef! Lord Maestus saved us from those knights! He even re-"

"Ahem! I hate to interrupt you but there is a group closing in on us. They seemed to have come from where you were." Maestus said as he took a glance at Marc.

The village chief scratched his head and chuckled nervously. Something that was noticed by Gazef, but decided to focus more on the information that Maestus said.

As if on cue, one of Gazef's men came running frantically.

"Captain! We're being surrounded by a large number of forces!..I believe they might be the enemy. They've encircled the village and are approaching!" He spoke with urgency.

...

...

Inside one of the buildings, all the men who were previously outside took shelter to hide themselves from any eyes as they planned.

"Sir-no, Lord Maestus, would you be willing to be employed as a mercenary?"

After exchanging a few pleasantries and introductions, Gazef asked this question to Maestus, who is currently staring at the angels far away.

'Seeing them in real life still feels surreal, then again I do wonder why I feel a sense of familiarity AND hostility towards them.' he thought.

Though that was one thing, there was another matter. Would he go with Gazef and his men to combat the invaders? Or will he just go by himself?

The latter would make sense, however the former also has possible benefits.

"I am currently in a dilemma you see." Maestus replied, still not facing Gazef.

"Hoh, would you like to share what it is?" Gazef tilted his head.

"Will I join you in battle against the enemies, inadvertently showing you what I'm capable of? Or will I go alone and face them, benefitting in not only hiding what I'm capable of but also reaping the spoils of war?" Maestus didn't know if it's a good idea to say this, after all, he could be targeted.

Along with the village in the future.

Gazef was shocked for a second, before calming himself and smiling.

"Your distrust is reasonable, so were ours." His words were a bit passive aggressive, his and his platoon now ready to draw their swords.

"I'm not a man of politics, that's a fact about me. It will is normal for you to report any occurrence in your missions, especially if you hold such stature in the military body. It does however, occur to me that this attack is more than it would seem, and I'd rather not get stuck into it. But alas, I did promise protection towards this village."

Gazef couldn't help but be intimidated, yet there was a serene aura that Maestus was emitting. That aura made them capable of being calm in the vast presence of Maestus.

Those words of Maestus brought great admiration in the hearts of the villagers who heard his statement, one of whom was the village chief.

Meanwhile, Maestus was mentally did a "nailed it!" gesture.

He wasn't one to speak in such a way befitting of nobles and such. The persona he's creating was that of a man of high stature. Strong and Admirable.

Though he felt like a chuuni, masquerading as a humble "holier than thou" guy.

If that even makes sense that is.

"So I'll answer your question by another one, will you be willing to stay and protect this village in case I fail?" This time, Maestus said those as he slowly turned his head and faced Gazef.

Said Warrior Captain fought the urge to step back. There was a chill that ran down his spine, but he valiantly stayed rooted to the ground.

'He- is he seriously saying he can take on the enemy alone? No, that's... Why do I feel like he will win?' Gazef's tried to look for any sign of deception, any suspicious gesture.

Yet for the love of him, he can't see any evidence in his words and actions.

But, as his pride and duty as the Warriors Captain, he has to know, even if it's a little bit.

What Maestus is capable of.

If he becomes a threat to the kingdom, he has to know what he can potentially do.

"Hah, I would have to decline. It is my duty to protect the citizens of the kingdom, also I have to ensure that the saviour of the village comes back alive. I do owe you for saving these people."

Chuckling, he expressed his gratitude and bowed.

"I thank you Lord Maestus, for what you did." With that, Gazef Stronoff stood proudly.

There was a sense of camaraderie born between two men, both them and the people around them could feel it.

...

...

Nigun Greed Luin, a man who led the Sunlight Scripture for five years, is currently lying on the pool of his own blood.

He clutched his abdomen, trying to hold in more blood from escaping, but to no avail.

How did this happen? Who was that? Why did we lose?

Those questions plagued his fading mind as he stared at the hooded masked man holding one of the three crystal seal bestowed to humanity by the Gods he believed in.

Said crystal suddenly disappeared, as if it was snuffed out of existence within a split second.

It just, disappeared.

"Pl-Please...I don't*cough!* want to die...not-not like this..." Despite being a man of faith, he valued his life more than the importance of his mission.

But the stranger merely gazed upon him, like an executioner watching upon another product of a day's work.

Nigun begged, and begged, but the more he spoke, the more he coughed blood.

A few minutes ago.

Maestus's first experience with riding horse is... underwhelming.

Especially if the horse is running awkwardly, as if trying to make it's rider fall down.

The horse even looked VERY reluctant to let him ride. Made him wonder if it can feel his aura.

The ride wasn't long, fortunately. As soon as the enemy group was in sight, Maestus immediately dropped down.

Gazef and his men though, remained on their horses. They all have him an odd look before turning their attention to the incoming angels.

Said angels were merely armored humanoids with a pair of wings.

Seeing this, Gazef immediately yelled "Chaaarge!"

An immediate clangs of metal echoed throughout the field as the humans and angels fought with their melees.

Whilst Gazef and his men are outnumbered, it didn't mean that their morale is. For there is someone else present.

"Icicle Break."

Six ice spears from behind Gazef impaled the incoming angels who were targeting the Warrior Captain.

"Wha-!?" Nigun's men uttered in surprise.

Gazef turned to look at Maestus, however he felt a gust of air as the Sage passed by and started cutting down every angel in his path with his Mana Sword.

Gazef was shocked for a moment before signalling to follow Maestus.

Meanwhile, Nigun, seeing as this strange hooded man with a mask was approaching fast, went on a panic.

"Principality of Observation! Attack that man!" Upon ordering, a larger angel with different type of armor immediately flew towards Maestus and swung it's mace.

Said mace didn't land on it's target as Maestus backhanded the mace, causing it to be thrown away.

"Fire Thrust." Maestus uttered calmly.

Pushing his right palm forward, a blazing spiral blasted and penetrated the large angel on it's chest.

The flame burst out in an instant, but it's effect was devastating as the Principality of Observation was reduced into ashes not even a second later.

However, Maestus wasn't done yet.

'I don't need to hear how shocked you are.' he said mentally.

"Evasive Blink."

Nigun was already at range, and Maestus calculated that 80 meters was the maximum range for that evasion skill.

Maestus concluded the possibility that so many things about his character's capabilities was changed when he was sent to the new world. He realized that when he tested his skills and strength.

Imagine Nigun's surprise when Maestus was dangerously close to him.

"Wh- guhak!" He never managed to ask what happened as he felt a searing pain on his abdomen.

Looking down, he found a glassy sword impaled on his stomach.

To Nigun's utter surprise and panic, he saw his attacker reach on his robe, where the Sealing Crystal was pocketed.

...

...

Present.

He could feel the power inside the crystal. But not just that, but the sense of familiarity was stronger with it as well.

'Was it because of my angel wing avatar?' he couldn't help but ask himself that.

When he killed those angels, he felt that same sensation when he killed humans.

It was as if he killed his kin.

But if that truly is the case, that this change was due to that simple thing, than what change does the Phoenix Wing did to him?

"Pl-Please...I don't*cough!* want to die...not-not like this..." He heard Nigun plead.

Maestus stared at him, wondering why this was all happening.

Was this truly the right thing to do? Was this really what he needed to do?

He just stood there staring at the dying priest while asking himself questions.

All around Maestus, the rest of the Sunlight Scripture was panicking. Seeing as their leader died, they all yelled curses and tried to run, only to be routed and cut down by Gazef's men.

Maestus was so into his world that he didn't notice Gazef staring at his back with awe, fear and admiration.

It was only when Maestus noticed the lack of fighting sounds that he shook himself off from his stupor.

Then he remembered.

'Oh yeah, there was that watcher right. Let's see...' he mentally said before focusing on his senses.

After a few seconds, he felt it, the feeling of being watched. It was convenient, in his mind it was a good addition to his capabilities.

There were stares behind him, but there's also a stare right in front.

He slowly turned his gaze to the source, and just kept his eyes on it.

From an onlooker, he may just be gazing at the sky in front of him.

"Yeah, that's right. I'm here." He muttered softly.

He was challenging them, to come to him.

The Slane Theocracy.

It might be foolish, stupid even. But if possible, he wants them to attack.

The wielder of the World Item that mind controlled Shalltear Bloodfallen.

While he's not confident in his resistant to mind controll, he does know that he has the capabilities to prevent that from happening.

As he stared longer, he felt that gaze from above slowly recede, and disappear.

After a moment, Maestus facepalms, at his stupidity.

"Did I just really challenged someone while putting an entire village on my protection?" He whispered.

'Stupid, Stupid, Stupid,Stupid!' with every word, Maestus smacked his head lightly.

"Uhm... Lord Maestus?" Gazef's voice snapped the Sage out of it.

Turning, he saw the Warrior Captain looking at him quizzically.

"Oh...ahem!... I'm merely punishing myself for my stupidity. Nevertheless, how are you and your men?" He asked.

"Wha-? Punishi... Uh, thankfully, there are no casualties, there are many wounded, both light and heavily." Gazef decided not to ask further on what Maestus said.

"Mhm, bring them to me. I can heal them." Maestus's word made Gazef's jaw drop.

"You can hea-.. no, I wouldn't be surprised if a magic caster such as yourself can use such spells. However, I don't have enough budget to pay such services. Forgive me Lord Maestus but, can you heal my men? I promise that I will pay-" Gazef stopped talking as the Sage held out his palm.

"There is no need to pay, taking the spoils of war is enough. Besides, healing is as simple as breathing for me." Maestus said.

"...well, if that's the case, than I thank you again Lord Maestus!" Gazef bowed once more, before straightening up and jogging towards his men.

The Sage turned his gaze on the skies, wondering.

"From now on, things will be different. Everything changed, and quite frankly, it does make me anxious." He spoke grimly.

But deep inside, he can't help but get excited. As the prospect of new challenges made the inner Phoenix within him grin.
