Disclaimer: I do not own Devil May Cry or Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I only own the OC Damian Redgrave.
Damian stood patiently beside Artemis as they, the hunters and the demigods all stood on top of a nearby hill as they waited for dawn to arrive.
It was colder and darker then it usually was, proving that winter was in full effect in the cold December morning as everyone was wrapped up warmly in their jackets, making sure they fully zipped up to prevent getting sick.
On Damian's left was Silena who had her arm entwined with his and then the other demigods along with Grover standing behind them. Beside Artemis were Zoe and the rest of hunters.
The hunters had managed to put the camp away and take it all down as quick as they had put it up. It was rather impressive at how quick and efficient they had worked, once again proving why the monsters were known to greatly fear them.
From behind him, Damian could hear Thalia, Percy and Grover talking to one another in hushed voices.
Finally the sky began to lighten. Artemis muttered, "About time. He's so-o-o lazy during the winter."
Damian turned to look at her. "What is Uncle Apollo like? His kids at camp don't know much about him since he can't visit often or has no time to at least."
Artemis sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "To put it bluntly, he's a real pain in the ass."
Damian smirked at his mother. "Dad rubbed off on you."
Artemis gave him a wink before sighing again. "Your uncle is... eccentric, sometimes I wonder how we are even related, much less twins. He is a major flirt and flirts with pretty much any girl and he enjoys breaking the rules. He is self-centred, he is cocky and he is quite arrogant. But despite his faults he does do his duties, even if he slacks at them most times and unlike some other gods and goddesses he does claim all his children. Just be prepared when you meet him, he is more like a kid then a god."
"So... he's the opposite of you." Damian stated, causing Artemis to snort in amusement.
"That's one way of looking at it." She said before wrapping an arm around her son's shoulders and pulled him close. "But be prepared for a rather... energetic meeting. Long has he hounded me about giving him a niece or nephew, and now that you're born, he's been excited to meet you... and he's equally more annoying."
Damian snorted, amused. "So does he really drive a sun chariot?" He asked, since he had heard the legend of his uncle pulling a chariot across the sky.
"Yes he does, though knowing Apollo it's probably turned into some kind of car or motorcycle. Depends what his pick of the week is." Artemis sighed, rolling her eyes.
"So do you have a chariot too or is that just him?" Damian asked.
"I do as well but unlike my brother, I prefer to keep it as a chariot since I enjoy the air hitting my face and the freedom it gives me when I'm driving it." She said smiling at the very thought. "If you like, perhaps when we next see each other I can give you a ride in it."
"I'd like that." Damian said with a smile. Artemis smiled back before leaning over and kissing her son's cheek.
From the side and behind him Silena, Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, Grover, Bianca and Nico all smiled as they watched the mother and son happily talk away with one another and were happy that Damian had finally got a chance to connect with his mother, even if it was just for a short time.
With Bianca and Nico they both wondered who their Olympian parents was and hoped that whoever it was they would be as welcoming and as loving as Artemis was to Damian.
There was a sudden burst of light on the horizon. A blast of warmth.
"Don't look," Artemis advised. "Not until he parks."
Everyone followed her advice and covered their eyes as the light and warmth intensified. Then suddenly the light died.
Everyone opened their eyes and they saw, in front of them, was a red convertible Maserati Spyder.
Damian blinked. "Talk about entering with style."
Artemis just sighed. "That idiot brother of mine..."
They noticed the car was glowing because the metal was so hot and it had made the snow all around the car completely melt away and looked like snow had never been there in the first place. Beneath their feet was now green grass that was a little bit wet, the only remnants of the snow from just moments ago.
The passengers door open and who they could only guess was Apollo stepped out of it.
Apollo looked about seventeen or eighteen and had sandy blonde hair and tanned skin with very outdoorsy good looks. He was taller than Damian was and had a very playful smile on his face, like he had just been up to no good. He wore jeans and loafers and a sleeveless T-shirt.
"He's hot." Thalia muttered.
"Well he is the sun god." Percy answered.
The demigods rolled their eyes at what he said while the hunters were openly glaring at Apollo who was happily making his way towards Artemis.
"Little sister!" Apollo called. If his teeth were any whiter he could've blinded everyone without the sun car. "What's up? You never call. You never write. I was getting worried!"
Artemis sighed. "I'm fine, Apollo. And I am not your little sister."
"Hey, I was born first."
"We're twins! How many millennia do we have to argue—"
"So what's up?" he interrupted. "Got the girls with you, I see. You all need some tips on archery?"
Damian watched his mother and uncle. seeing how different they were from each other. Apollo was laid back and relaxed while Artemis was serious, yet they acted like siblings with Apollo as the annoying little brother. He tried to hold in a chuckle but it managed to escape him.
Apollo heard and looked at him blankly, tiling his head a bit as he tried to connect the dots on who he was. Soon, his eyes went wide and his smile stretched so wide it could rival the Joker's from Batman.
"LITTLE NEPHEW!"
"Ah!" Damian yelped as he was scooped up into a tight hug by his uncle. ""Finally! I get to meet my little nephew. Here I thought you and Hestia were keeping him all to yourselves. Not anymore, Uncle Apollo is here now and I am here to stay."
Damian grimaced at the bear hug before looking at his mother. 'Help me!' He mouthed to her with a pleading look.
The demigods looked amused, with Annabeth and Silena giggling.
"Apollo, put him down." Artemis ordered with a serious tone. Apollo pouted at his sister but put his nephew down. Damian regained his footing and made sure his back wasn't cracked. His uncle was stronger than he looked.
"Aww come on Arty, this is the first time I have met my nephew and he is probably the only nephew I'm gonna get from you after all. Unless you and Dante are gonna..." He trailed off as he saw the dark glare his sister had on her face, warning him not to continue his train of thought.
Apollo sighed. "Fine Artemis, what is it you need?"
Artemis grit her teeth. "I need a favor. I have some hunting to do, alone. I need you to take my companions to Camp Half-Blood."
"Sure, sis!" Then he raised his hands in a stop everything gesture. "I feel a haiku coming on."
Artemis and the Hunters all groaned while Damian and the others raised their eyebrows as Apollo cleared his throat and held up one hand dramatically.
"Green grass breaks through snow.
Artemis pleads for my help.
I am so cool."
He grinned at them, waiting for applause.
"That last line was only four syllables," Artemis and Damian said together causing them to smirk at each other.
Apollo frowned. "Was it?"
"Yes. What about I am so big-headed?"
"No, no, that's six syllables. Hmm." He started muttering to himself.
Damian leaned over to his mother. "Yeah, he definitely weird and acts like the annoying little brother."
Artemis smiled and nodded in agreement.
"I've got it!" Apollo announced. "I am so awesome. That's five syllables!" He bowed, looking very pleased with himself.
"And now, sis. Transportation for the Hunters, you say? Good timing. I was just about ready to roll."
"These demigods will also need a ride," Artemis said, pointing to said demigods. "Some of Chiron's campers."
"No problem! Any friend of my nephew's and my children is okay with me!" Apollo checked the demigods out. "Let's see… Thalia, right? I've heard all about you."
Thalia blushed. "Hi, Lord Apollo."
"Zeus's girl, yes? Makes you my half sister. Used to be a tree, didn't you? Glad you're back. I hate it when pretty girls turn into trees."
"Not very subtle, is he?" Damian asked. Artemis shook her head.
Apollo got to Annabeth next. "Ah, Athena's girl! My, you look just as pretty as your mother. I dare say you'll be as beautiful as her when you get older."
It made Annabeth blush and shuffle in her spot while Percy glared at him as did Damian who was really hoping his Uncle was not going to perve on his little sister figure. Artemis meanwhile looked ready to rip his head off as did the hunters.
"Brother," Artemis said. "You should get going."
"Oh, right." Then Apollo looked at Percy, and his eyes narrowed. "Percy Jackson?"
"Yeah. I mean… yes, sir."
Apollo stared at him for a moment then moved on to Silena and he paused. "Aphrodite's daughter, right?"
"Yes sir." Silena nodded.
"And my nephew's girlfriend." Apollo said with a smirk before he gave his nephew a double thumbs up. "Good choice, little nephew! My, she's just as hot as her mother!"
"Apollo..." Artemis growled, looking like she's about to murder her brother.
"Fine, fine! We'd better load up, huh? Ride only goes one way—west. And if you miss it, you miss it." Apollo said.
Damian looked at the Masrati Spyder and raised a brow. "Yeah, because like this is gonna fit all of us." He remarked sarcastically.
"Now don't be rude, my dear nephew." Apollo grinned before he took out his car keys and beeped the security alarm button. Chirp, chirp.
For a moment, the car glowed brightly again. When the glare died, the Maserati had been replaced by one of those Turtle Top shuttle buses like we used for school basketball games.
"Right," he said. "Everybody in."
Zoe ordered the Hunters to start loading. She picked up her camping pack, and Apollo said, "Here, sweetheart. Let me get that."
Zoe recoiled. Her eyes flashed murderously.
"Brother," Artemis chided. "You do not help my Hunters. You do not look at, talk to, or flirt with my Hunters. And you do not call them sweetheart."
Apollo spread his hands. "Sorry. I forgot. Now, onto more important business..." With that, Apollo grabbed Damian's arm and started leading him away.
"Apollo! Where are you going with my son?" Artemis demanded, glaring at her twin.
"Just a quick uncle and nephew talk, won't be long!" Apollo threw over his shoulder. Artemis gritted her teeth. She'll give them five minutes before she goes and reclaims her son.
Damian stayed quiet as his uncle led them a bit away from the others. Once they were alone, Apollo stopped and faced his nephew.
"Right, first off, it's great to finally meet you in person." Apollo said with a grin. "I'm glad my little sister finally knows the joys of being a mother."
"Oh well thanks." Damian said with a small smile. "To be honest I had always wondered what you were like since the camp usually says your one of the nicer, more laid back gods."
"Well, someone has to be with how it's all serious up there." Apollo said, gesturing to the sky. "Seriously, your gramps is so serious sometimes."
The sky rumbled with thunder. Zeus clearly heard that.
Apollo ignored it. "Now, little nephew. There's something we need to address, and it concerns your relationship with the daughter of Aphrodite, and most likely the daughter of Zeus and that other demigod since they give you the look that clearky says they like you more than a friend."
"Uh... what?" Damian blinked.
Apollo grinned. "You see, Damian, when a man and a woman love each other very much..."
Back at the shuttle bus, Artemis had her arms crossed and was tapping her foot on the ground impatiently as she waited for her brother to return with her son. The Hunters, Percy, Annabeth, Silena, Thalia, Nico, Bianca, and Grover were all on the bus, waiting as well.
The silence soon came to an end when they heard Damian.
"NO! NO! NO! NO! I AM NOT LISTENING TO THIS FOR A SECOND TIME!" Everyone looked to see the son of Artemis was running with Apollo chasing him.
"But little nephew, I was getting to the best part! You have to hear it!" Apollo shouted as he pursed his nephew.
"APOLLO! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" Artemis shouted as Damian ran towards them.
"HE'S TRYING TO GIVE ME THE SEX TALK!" Damian shouted.
Everything went silent before the demigods burst out into laughter while Silena blushed. The fact that Annabeth and Thalia patted her shoulders did not help the matter. If anyone back at camp heard this... they would not let this be lived down.
Even the Hunters were cracking up at seeing their little brother be embarrassed.
"APOLLO!" The God of the Sun stopped and looked at his sister to see she looked really angry.
"Oh shit." he muttered before bolting with Artemis chasing after him while Damian came to a stop at the doors of the bus, wincing as Artemis tackled her brother to the floor and started beating him up. Damian then scowled as he can still hear Thalia and Percy laughing.
A few minutes later, Apollo limped onto the bus while Artemis sorted herself, adjusting her clothing and brushing dirt off her clothes.
"That idiot." She muttered before she calmed down and turned to her son with a soft gaze. "I... I must go. I wish we had more time."
"Can't I come with you?" Damian asked. He just his mother, he didn't want to leave her again. Artemis smiled and cupped her son's cheeks.
"I would love nothing more than for you to come and hunt with me, but this is something I must do alone. Fret not, my little wolf, we will hunt together at some point. I promise you."
Damian sighed and nodded. "When will I see you again?"
"I'm not sure." Artemis said with a shake of her head. "But now that we've met, I will visit you from time to time, whether it be out of camp or at Devil May Cry. I do need to see your father after all, and hope Lady and Trish are keeping him in his place."
Damian snorted in amusement at that.
"But I promise, I will make sure to spend time with you when I can." Artemis vowed.
Damian smiled and wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. She did the same as she held her son close since neither knew when the next time they would be able to do so would be.
After a few moments they broke the hug and Artemis kissed him on the forehead. "I am watching you always. I'm always watching over you, my little moon and stars." She said before she gave him one last smile before she turned around and sprinted off into the woods nearby.
Damian watched her go and once she disappeared he turned around and got on the bus. He took the seat beside Silena who wrapped her hand with his.
"Are you okay?"
He nodded as she squeezed his hand. "I'm fine. Just glad I got the chance to finally meet her." He said as Silena smiled as gave him a quick peck on the lips before they made themselves comfortable.
Apollo sat up in his chair looking like he was ready to go before he turned around and looked at the demigods.
"So, who wants to drive?" He asked making Damian now know this small trip back to camp was not going to be as quiet as he thought it would be.
"Oh I will." Nico said but Bianca put his hands down while Apollo laughed.
"Sorry kid you're a little too young." He said as Nico pouted.
"Oo! Oo!" Grover raised his hand.
"Mm, no," Apollo said. "Too furry."
He then looked towards Percy and Thalia, Thalia looked like she really did not want to get picked and tried to make sure Apollo did not get in her line of sight.
"I'll do it." Damian said suddenly making everyone look at him while making Apollo grin like a maniac.
"Alright little nephew, now that's stepping up." He said as he got out of his seat and led Damian over to the seat and put him in front of the wheel.
"How exactly does it run, I mean I can't imagine you can pull the sun up into a local gas station?" Damian asked as he looked over the front of the wheel and Apollo laughed.
"No, no nothing like that. My chariot is built out of human dreams about the sun. It's as old as the Western Civilization if not more so. Every day, it drives across the sky from east to west, lighting up all those little mortal lives that live on the land beneath us. The chariot is a manifestation of the sun's power, the way mortals perceive it. Make sense?"
"Urm I guess so; though you could have just said it was solar powered." He said as everyone including the hunters snickered.
"Fine, you are so much like Arty little nephew. You take the fun out of everything." Apollo pouted before he took the seat just behind Damian so that he could guide him and make sure he did not crash the chariot.
Though Apollo did lean over for a moment to hit a button on the dashboard, and a sign popped up along the top of the windshield. It read WARNING: STUDENT DRIVER.
"Is it really okay for him to be driving?" Silena asked Apollo. The only thing Damian has driven would be his Devilish-looking motorcycle that he and Silena arrived on. But that was a motorcycle, this is a God's chariot.
"Don't sweat it! Maine to Long Island is a really short trip." He said laughing though no one else joined in with him."
"Go ahead little nephew, let's get going." Apollo said patting him on the back as Damian played around with the clutch to get it right before he pushed down on the gas and started moving.
"Speed equals heat." Apollo advised. "So start slowly, and make sure you've got good altitude before you really open her up." He said as Damian nodded while keeping his eyes on the road.
Once Damian felt they had gotten enough speed he tilted the wheel back and the bus slowly but efficiently went into the air.
When Damian felt he had gone high enough he kept it in a calm speed while taking a quick peek out the window as did everyone else.
Beneath them were rings of trees that they had taken off from and had left behind.
Everyone looked calm and happy at the speed they were going in while Apollo looked a little bored. Damian gave his Uncle a questioning look.
"This is a little boring. Come on little nephew, be more lively." He asked pleadingly, making Damian smirk thinking he could prove to his energetic uncle that he was not as boring as he thought.
After few minutes, Damian noticed a highway down beneath them. "Uncle Apollo, do mortals see the sun chariot?" He asked as Apollo shook his head.
"No the mist covers it. Why?"
Damian smirked again and pushed down on the accelerator. Everyone in the bus noticed the sudden increase in speed. He then leaned over and flicked the radio on which insistently was AC/DC's song You Want Blood.
"Damian, why are we speeding up?" Silena asked a little worryingly when she saw the glint in his eyes.
"You might want to hold on to something." He said before all of a sudden the bus did a nose dive making many suddenly yelp and scream.
"THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!" Apollo cried out as the bus rocked down to earth at great speed and was only getting faster.
"PULL UP! PULL UP!" Annabeth cried out as they got to about a hundred feet to the ground; when it got to seventy Damian suddenly pulled up, narrowly missing the ground and shooting forward at tremendous speed.
"DAMIAN! I AM KICKING YOUR ASS WHEN WE GET TO CAMP!" Thalia shouted out but it only made Damian and the others laugh at her flustered look.
Damian pulled back into the air after his little stunt, missing the glare some of the hunters were giving him.
Some looked out the windows again and now down below the bus was a little snow-covered New England town. At least, it used to be snow-covered. As they watched, the snow melted off the trees and the roofs and the lawns. The white steeple on a church turned brown and started to smolder. Little plumes of smoke, like birthday candles, were popping up all over the town. Trees and rooftops were catching fire.
"Pull up more little nephew." Apollo said as Damian nodded and mentally saying sorry to the people who roofs were now on fire.
"Look out for the billboard." Apollo cried out as Damian turned back in front of him to see a giant cereal ad billboard appear in front of him he swerved out of the way making many cry out and jolt around from the sudden turn.
The bus ended up back on the freeway and headed under a large tunnel where construction was currently going on with signs indicating that the road was blocked.
"THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!" Nico cried out while Grover and Thalia held onto each other tightly with Annabeth and Bianca doing the same and Percy holding onto the side. Silena meanwhile shook her head as she sat peacefully on her seat with her arms crossed and seat belts securely fastened something the others seemed to have forgotten.
"Oh that's not good." Damian said as the road ahead was blocked off and only a small gab was open. The bus will never make it.
"Pull the lever." Apollo said as Damian looked over and without asking why, he pulled it.
As he did the inside of the bus suddenly began getting narrow which made Damian, Annabeth and Percy groan.
'Not this again.' They thought since it was the same thing the three sisters did in the taxi during the summer.
When they hit the small gab the bus slowly got smaller and tighter as it squeezed through the narrow gab. From then insides most groaned and the feelings it was giving them and made them feel uneasy.
"I don't feel too good." Bianca said as she clutched her stomach and her face looked a little green. Grover and Thalia looked like they were feeling similar things.
"I forgot how much I hated this." Percy winced out as at the back the hunters were mumbling and a few looked a little green as well but were doing better than the demigods were.
After a couple more seconds they got through the gap and the inside went back to normal much to everyone's relief.
When they exited the tunnel, Damian managed to avoid some incoming cars before he got back to a safe height.
"He he, sorry about that." He said scratching the back of his head while the demigods glared at him as did the hunters.
From that point everything else went silent as everyone waited patiently for them to arrive at camp with the regular demigods anxious to get home while Bianca and Nico looked forward to seeing what their new home looked like. The hunters though were dreading it and were mentally preparing themselves.
"There!" Apollo pointed. "Long Island, dead ahead. Let's slow down, nephew. 'Dead' is only an expression."
Damian looked forwards and smiled when he saw Half Blood hill just coming into distance as well as the cabins and the big house becoming visible. After several months away, he was happy to finally be back at his second home.
"There it is." Percy said as Bianca and Nico looked out the wonder and their eyes sparkled a little when they saw it.
"Alright now slowly descend in and land just beside the strawberry fields." Apollo said to Damian as he pointed towards the spot he wanted him to land.
Damian landed and figured the time for joking around was over and now took it seriously. Slowly he began to lower the bus down towards the ground as they got closer to the camp. Everyone could feel the bus slowly lowering down and getting slower in speed as they watched as they flew over the hill.
Eventually they got to the spot where they wanted to land and Damian carefully pushed on the brake as the bus touched back down on the ground and rolled along the ground. Slowly it stopped and ended up a couple of meters beside the giant lake.
From around them they could see the nature spirits and satyrs that resided at the camp noticed the bus and went away from it since it was giving off a lot of heat that was melting the snow from beneath them like it did back in Maine.
"Thank you for driving Air Redgrave, please gathering your belongs and get your asses off in orderly fashion, thank you." Damian said like he was a plane captain announcing the disembarking time.
"Good job little nephew, that was some fine driving." Apollo said as he clapped Damian on the shoulder. The bus door opened and Damian stood up from his seat.
As he did though, he turned to face everyone, but instead was met by Thalia who barreled towards him and jumped him. Damian stumbled and fell out of the bus with Thalia on top of him while having him in a headlock.
"YOU JERK! I TOLD YOU I WOULD GET YOU FOR THAT STUNT FROM EARLIER!" She shouted at him as Apollo and the other demigods laughed as Thalia dunked his head in snow. The Hunters at the back of the bus looked amused at the scene.
Damian didn't fight back and instead was laughing along with everyone else, forgetting the temper Thalia had.
As she pushed his head into the snow he looked up to see the camp in front of him, smiling as he did. "Good to be back..."
And that's it for this chapter. I had to show that Damian does have some of Dante in him, because what Damian did... does seem like something Dante would probably do for the hell of it.
