Over the next few days Maggie and Alden did not see each other much, as she continued to mainly work in her office, while he spent the days outside, overseeing the work of the saviors, and evenings at the forge with Earl.
A few days after the saviors had arrived at the Hilltop Maggie was in her office, going over how many pounds of turnips they would have for the winter. Tammy Rose Sutton entered the room.
"Hey Maggie"
"Hey Tammy" Maggie replied. "Why are you here? Does Earl need anything for his forge? I can ask Eduardo and Doug the next time they go on a supply-run"
"No, I'm not here because of Earl. I'm here because of you"
"Because of me?" Maggie asked.
"Yes. Because of you. And Alden"
Maggie looked at the older woman, not sure how to answer.
"I heard you two talk a few days back"
"You were eavesdropping us?"
"I'm sorry, it's none of business…"
"You're damn right about that, Tammy"
"… but let me tell you something about me and Earl's long marriage. Don't let something good pass while you have a chance for it"
"Excuse me?" Maggie asked.
"Don't let something good pass. Me and Earl… we waited quite late to have our boy, Kenny. I always wanted at least one boy and girl, if not more, but we both hesitated for so long and now we got none. Don't do the same with Alden. I know you miss Glenn, but it's all right to move on"
With that Tammy left the office, leaving Maggie to ponder what she just heard.

That night Maggie dreamed once again of Alden.
She was at one of the watchtowers at West Georgia Correctional Facility, or simply just The Prison, getting intimate with Glenn. He removed her clothes and then his own, before pushing her down and entering her.
As she moaned in pleasure, he got close to her, embraced her and kissed her neck. She closed her eyes, enjoying the sensation.
"Maggie, I love you. Maggie, you deserve to be loved. Maggie, you deserve to be happy" he whispered, before moving away from her, slipping out of her and resting his head directly above hers.
She opened her eyes and saw that it was now Alden, not Glenn, filled with passion.
Before she could react to the change, he thrust back inside of her and she moaned passionately.
Maggie woke up in her bed, sweaty, breathing heavily and aroused from the dream she just had. She felt guilty at what just had transpired.
How could I, again, she thought as she sat up in her bed.
She loved Glenn. She loved him so much and missed even more. But Alden had started to get inside her head as well and she could not deny that she was attracted to him at this point. The dreams, the steamy encounter they had in her office, the fact the she got wet when she thought about him for too long… Tammy had a point in letting something good pass while she had a chance. But could she bring herself to it?
How will I resolve this, she wondered, as she laid down again in her bed, trying to get back to sleep. While doing so, her hand wandered between her legs and started to touch her wetness.
I really need to get around this issue, she thought and quietly moaned while pleasuring herself. After cumming, she slowly fell back to sleep, though Alden appeared in her subconscious during these moments.

The next day Maggie arrived at the Hilltops small graveyard, where they had buried many people in the last few years: Wesley, one of the supply-runners of the Hilltop, Kurt and Dana, medics of the Kingdom who died during their short stay during the war against the saviors, Bruce and Tobin, construction workers of Alexandria who also stayed and died there during war, Abraham Ford, the strongest fighter of the Rick's group and friend to all, and of course Glenn, her later husband and father to Hershel Jr.
Maggie came to Glenn's grave and knelt in front of it. She pulled out his pocket watch and looked at it. This was the very same watch her father Hershel had given to him as a sign of approving him as her boyfriend and future husband.
She still loved Glenn, but overtime has come to terms with his death. In the first weeks after Glenn's death, she thought it would also be the end of her, but it wasn't. After a while life continued like it always had, before and after the emergence of the walkers. She had also come back to enjoying life, especially with the birth of little Hershel Jr.
Could this enjoyment of life be extended to a new relationship with another man though, she wondered, or would that be crossing a line? Despite the grim reality of death being a real possibility, the young couple had not discussed the matter. They had always agreed to be ready to sacrifice one's life for another, but never pondered what this life might look like without the other.
What would Glenn think of this? Would he understand? Could she understand if the tables were turned? What would a relationship with Alden look like? Just sexual? Or also emotional? Just pleasure? Or also emotional? Just a fling? Or maybe something more serious.
Maggie held to the pocket watch harder as she thought about the matter, ending up spending half an hour just being quietly at the grave of Glenn. After this she rose up with a decision.
I love you Glenn, always will, she thought. But I want to give Alden a chance.
With that she returned to Barrington House, feeling uneasy and confident at the same time.

There was a small shed outside of Hilltop, which was used a small storage facility by the community, that could also serve as a small outpost where a few people could sleep overnight. Maggie decided this would be the ideal place to meet Alden and discuss the subject again, away from the others. And for potential other reasons…
Maggie had set a night where she knew Alden would have no guard shift or spend time at Earl's forge to meet, packed what was needed for their meeting and send Bertie to give a message to Alden, giving only a time a place. Bertie had also returned to Maggie, saying that Alden had accepted the invitation.
Although Bertie had not been told much about anything of the meeting, she could tell what Maggie intended, but decided to respect the other woman's privacy and not tell anyone. She would also be watching Hershel Jr that night.
It was the night the before meeting and Maggie was already a little nervous. She had traded a shower-slot with Crystal in order to be more presentable.
She stepped into the shower naked and started to scrub herself with soap and shampoo, and washing herself with semi-warm water. After cleaning herself and stepping out of the shower Maggie looked at her naked reflection in front of a mirror. Her body had bounced back from pregnancy, though she was showing some stretch marks under her navel. Her breasts were also a little sacking, still sometimes nursing her son.
Looking at her body and thinking of it again in an attractive or sensual context make feel a little embarrassed and ashamed, but a more comfortable feeling began to also emerge. It had been so long that she felt sensual again, and it felt so good to feel that away once more.
Besides inspecting her physical features, she also decided to something about her pubic hair. Following Glenn's death, she had stopped shaving and brown curls had grown around her vagina. She decided it was time to for it to go.
She had gotten her hands on a razor and some other resources, such as shaving cream, and decided to get rid of all the hair and have private parts clean and smooth. It took a moment, but in the end, she was happy with her result.
Maggie slipped into her bathrobe, returned back to her room, changed to a nightgown, kissed her little infant son goodnight and slipped into the bed, nervous and excited over the next night.

It turning the night the next day, and Alden left the Hilltop towards the shed. Maggie's invitation had both surprised and confused him. They had agreed to hold some distance and her decision now seemed to contradict this agreement now.
While confused, a part of Alden hoped for Maggie having changed her mind about them as an item, but he didn't want raise up his own hopes too much though.
He eventually found the shed, and saw from its window's that there was light in it, which deduced would be Maggie. He came to the door, opened it and entered the shed. Inside he saw an odd collection of furniture, such as a couch and a few chairs, a pool table, some rugs and other commodities, which had not found a home at the Hilltop. There were also a few gaslamps there to keep light, and of course Maggie.
She was wearing a beige, buttoned shirt with short sleeves and some tight jeans. Her brown hair was in a ponytail and she was sitting on the couch, legs crossed. It looked like she had freshened up a little, and might even have a little, barley visible, makeup on her face. Overall she seemed to be a in a good mood, and was also smiling a little.
Alden was stunned by the looks, as he was pretty much always when he saw her. Did she change her mind, he wondered, still wanting to keep his hopes.
"Maggie? Why did you call me here?" he asked.
"I have to tell you something" Maggie replied and rose from the couch.
