It had been a month since Naruto learned the shadow clone jutsu and its uses. Now, he was comfortable in using the A-rank version of the jutsu, the multi-shadow clone jutsu!
"Wow, apart from the headaches I get if I use more than 10 clones at once, this is a really good way to train!"
Naruto exclaimed. He was really fond of the shadow clone jutsu and was using them to train his E-rank jutsu, the transformation jutsu. Minato also taught Naruto the basic clone jutsu, and the substitution jutsu, both of which Naruto learned in under a day. He had a bit of trouble in creating a basic clone, but he got it down after a bit of trial and error with his 10 clones.
"I really need to train my chakra control huh… Well, I can use my shadow clones and have them use the transformation jutsu to sneak to the libraries and learn more about advanced chakra control… The problem is the ANBU that always follows me around…"
So far, every time Naruto wanted to train, he had to make sure that he wasn't being watched. He could do this by sensing the area around him and sensing if the third Hokage was using his crystal ball and telescope technique.
The crystal ball was an old relic gifted by the Uzumaki clan, and with it, the user can use the telescope technique to gather intelligence anywhere regardless of obstruction or distance, as long as it was within range of the crystal ball. The crystal ball was a work of wonders created by the Uzumaki clan using the art of sealing.
However, the crystal ball was far from perfect, as it can also be countered and the enemy can give false information to anyone using the telescope technique as long as they can counter it. Hence the reason why the third Hokage didn't give this crystal ball to Jiraiya as it could easily be countered. Plus the fact that Hiruzen felt the man would use the crystal ball on inappropriate matters.
That aside, Naruto could use his sensing abilities to check if Hiruzen was looking at him using the telescope technique. It was easy to know, as there would be a chakra disturbance mid-air. Minato had already informed Naruto that after he turned six, he would start to develop a natural ability to sense chakra because of his Uzumaki blood.
—Flashback
"Naruto, I will tell you a tale about the Uzumaki clan, the clan of your mother and my wife."
Minato told Naruto one day when Naruto couldn't sleep at night.
"The Uzumaki clan was a clan famous for their massive chakra reserves that could match the bijuu, but have you ever wondered how they could be better at seals than anyone when creating seals require precise chakra control?"
Hearing that, Naruto shrugged. Minato nodded and continued his story. He didn't expect Naruto to know the answer. No one did until Minato learned the answer from Kushina herself.
"The Uzumaki clan didn't always have red hair. Some had black hair, some had brown hair, and some were even blonde. However, at that time when none of them had red hair, they had a problem where their chakra reserves would be so high they could barely perform a basic jutsu, let alone sealing jutsu.
This all changed when a baby with red hair was born. The baby's eyes were lavender, and his hair was bright red, reminiscent of fresh blood. At first, the people of the clan thought nothing of it, but when the child turned 6 years old, he started to develop some natural abilities.
One of these abilities was the ability to sense chakra signatures. The other ability the child gained was the chakra chains. Finally, probably the best ability the red-haired child got was better control over his chakra. Essentially, the child with red hair gained a talent for chakra control, and this talent couldn't be stopped even in the face of a disaster in the form of a massive chakra reserve.
As time passed, that child was hailed as the first Uzumaki Royalty. Though they didn't have any special privileges like other clan royalties, they were prioritized over other clan members when it came to protection and preservation as they had the 'thickest' Uzumaki blood. This made Uzumaki with lavender eyes and bright red hair famous inside the clan because it reminded the people of their origins. They were respected inside the clan, but outside they were just any other Uzumaki."
—End of Flashback
"Ah! I get it, I will train my stealth abilities. But how?"
Naruto pondered for a bit more when he saw a kid wearing a bright neon blue shirt and pants. He was surprised and found the clothing to be obnoxious, but he had an idea. What if he wore a bright neon-colored outfit and ran around the village pranking people in broad daylight and causing mayhem? If he could evade and hide from the ANBU even with those circumstances, then he could safely say that his stealth abilities would be enough.
And that is how the prankster of Konoha was born. People would be used to waking up and hearing a child challenge the world by yelling "Catch me if you can, LOSERS!" and causing trouble around the village. The surprising part? He never got caught. Well, he did, but the civilians didn't know that.
Even then, he rarely got caught, mostly thanks to his sensing ability. As Naruto hid from ANBU, he thought that it was too easy and wasn't satisfied. Then, he had the brilliant idea of using the shadow clone. If he used the shadow clones to pretend as enemy ninja using the transformation jutsu, he would alert the ANBU as well as the defense of Konoha and that would make sneaking inside the village difficult.
What if he got caught and his shadow clones were dispelled by the ANBU? Seeing that the shadow clone originated from Konoha, and was a Konoha specialty, his plans would be foiled once his clones were dispelled. That wasn't a problem for Naruto, for the moment he senses someone dealing an unavoidable blow to his clone, he would use the transformation jutsu and transform into something else.
Without wasting any more time, Naruto created ten shadow clones, each of them transformed into a ninja covered in dark clothes. It was Naruto's image of what a proper ninja should look like. The ten clones soon took off and left the village. One of the clones purposefully allowed himself to get caught trying to sneak into the village, while the other nine waited until the village strengthened its defenses before trying to sneak in.
—With Hiruzen
"Lord Hokage! Several unidentified ninjas are trying to sneak inside the village! Currently, none of them are caught, but we estimate that it is a group of nine based on what the barrier team could sense!"
A jonin reported to Hiruzen, the Third Hokage.
Hiruzen merely nodded and looked at the several ninjas in front of him. One was his son, Asuma Sarutobi, the rest were Kurenai Yuhi, Might Guy, Kayate Gekko, and more.
"Your job is to incapacitate the unknown ninja and send them to the interrogation department to be interrogated. Understood?"
"Yes!"
There was nothing else to be said and the several jonin ninjas inside the village left the Hokage tower to capture this threat.
—With Naruto's clones.
Naruto's clones were having a good time, as he pretended to have come from a very secret, very deadly ninja organization called Red Maelstrom.
"Give it up, ninja!"
Yelled a jonin from Konoha. He had found one of Naruto's clones and was trying to distract it while another jonin sneaked up behind Naruto to arrest him.
The plan would've worked if Naruto wasn't a sensor and was able to easily use the substitution jutsu to replace his position with the sneaking ninja. He was able to do this because of his mastery over the jutsu, and the fact that he had a higher chakra reserve than the jonin, despite being one of Naruto's ten clones.
"Ha-ha! You're gonna have to do more than that to sneak up behind me–"
"Oh? Really?"
Naruto paled when he heard another voice behind him. He was surprised to learn that someone had snuck up behind him without him noticing, but he had expected it was recovered quickly. Still, he didn't move as there was a kunai pressed above his throat, and one wrong move and he would be exposed.
"Give up on resisting and quietly follow us to the interrogation department. If things go smoothly, you might be given a merciful fate."
The ninja behind him stated, but Naruto smirked and even laughed making the jonin disturbed.
"So arrogant, do you really think that you've captured me?"
Naruto said before his skin started cracking, and his dark clothes slowly turned earth-like as his whole body started to crumble away into dust.
"Earth clone… this is bad, we must tell the Hokage about this!"
With that, the three ninjas left the area to report their discovery to the Hokage. They never noticed the dust turn into a small puff of smoke. Naruto was thankful that he had trained the transformation jutsu to mastery, otherwise, he would not have been able to fool three jonin like that.
One of the factors why he was able to fool three experienced jonin using a simple transformation jutsu was thanks to his chakra control, mastery over the technique, and the fact that his enemy had the mindset that he was a powerful ninja. They were even more fooled because of Naruto's chakra reserves that were low-jonin level.
—With Naruto
"Hmm… this is working better than I thought? Time to increase the shadow clones."
Before Naruto even finished talking, he had already formed a single-hand sign needed to perform the jutsu. He had mastered the shadow clone technique to the point he only need one hand and one seal to perform it. Performing the one-hand tiger seal, a poof of smoke appeared in the training grounds as a dozen of clones appeared, each having mid-chunin chakra reserves.
Each of them had the experience of the previous ten shadow clones, so even with the lower chakra reserves they could perform well against Konoha's defense, probably even better than the previous group.
"Go play and have fun."
That was all the original said before the clones transformed into a black ninja outfit and sneaked into Konoha's defense acting as enemy ninjas.
After the shadow clones left, Naruto only had mid-chunin chakra left inside him. Even if he was an Uzumaki with Senju blood and was the jinchuriki of the nine tails, he was only six years old. At maximum, Naruto only had enough chakra to rival the weakest Kage level ninja out there.
"Now, how to improve my chakra control…"
Naruto knew that he would gain a godly talent for chakra control now that he was 6. His bright red hair and lavender eyes were proof of that. He also knew that his talent would go to waste unless he actively trains it and push himself to his limits. Only then would he be able to reach unprecedented heights that no one else had been able to achieve.
—With Hiruzen
It was a grim day for Hiruzen. Out of nowhere, unknown ninjas started to invade Konoha. Well, maybe sneak inside was the better word. The ninja didn't do any harm to the village, but they had the goal of sneaking inside the village and that was no fun.
'Who in the world would be bold enough to try and sneak inside the world's strongest hidden village in broad daylight? The ninja showed that they could perform the Earth Clone technique, Water Clone technique, and there was even that one Shadow Clone ninja…'
At that, Hiruzen's train of thought came to a screeching halt. Shadow Clone? Who betrayed the village to leak the secrets of the Shadow Clone?!
"ANBU!"
"Sir!"
"Check if the forbidden scroll of sealing is still in its rightful place, and gather all the ninjas who learned the Shadow Clone technique!"
'I have to get to the bottom of this… speaking of which, the village's defense is rather faulty. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise… hmm…'
"ANBU!"
The ANBU who had just left returned and knelt in front of Hiruzen.
"Sir!"
"Gather all the ninjas in the village and alert them that an enemy organization is invading and they must catch every single one of the infiltrating ninjas! Also, gather the jonin-sensei and tell them that this is just an exercise, but that they should still be cautious and treat it as if there's a real war happening! Go!"
"Yes!"
A/N: If any of you are wondering, yes, I would be modifying some of the jutsu in the original Naruto series, and I would be making up some jutsu in the future. Because I don't know all of the jutsu in the Naruto series, don't mind it if I make up a jutsu, only to find out that the jutsu was already in the original Naruto series. It's all for the plot, and I don't intend to 100% follow the rules in the original Naruto series so keep that in mind. With that, enjoy the rest of the fan-fiction! :D
