Chapter 1
Lyra sat in the bleachers with her brother to her right. She rolled her eyes at him as he was chatting about quidditch with Albus. She didn't understand what the big deal was about quidditch. Her brother, dad, and most of her friends are the gun hole of the sport Secretly, she liked football and rugby, sports she got to know from her best friend, Rose Weasley. They had been best friends since they were little, along with Lily. She was closer to Rose than to Lily as Rose's father and her father were former partners in Law Enforcement.
Her father had resigned after a terrible mission. She wasn't given enough details of the mission, but she knew enough to know it got him to resign from being an Auror. After resigning, he started to be involved with the family business and learned about the trade under her grandfather. Mother was pleased he wasn't in the Law Enforcement anymore as she expressed it made her worry. But Lyra believed she was only happy he was home to bring home more bacon even though they were a multi-millionaire family. She was smacked by her mother when she was caught looking at old newspapers in the Manor's Library. She later found out her mother had taken all the papers and hidden them from her. It didn't stop Lyra from inquiring about it with her father or grandparents. Father didn't explain much; he always told her not to bother him while working. Her grandparents explained to her it was a painful two to three years. They briefly described what had happened but couldn't say much. Her grandfather told her "later when she was older". She did find out from her grandfather that her father was a very happy, carefree man until he returned from this last mission. Everything had changed from there, a snowball effect. He lost his memory, became someone he wasn't and hadn't been the same since. When her mother heard her Papa talking about this, she threw a temper tantrum, and her father had to come in to mediate. Her mother got her way. It was never spoken of again.
From what Lyra remembered, that was also the year a rumour was being spread around a woman named Hermione Jean Granger. She had been missing for 10 years, and they decided to declare her dead. They were not able to find her, and there weren't any leads on the young woman. She didn't understand why she remembered this tidbit as it didn't mean anything to her. Her mother and Uncle Marcus enjoyed beating her when she asked her Papa about who the woman was. Lyra should have checked her mother wasn't around when she asked later in the evening.
-Flashback begins-
"Quit your bloody tears. Why are you crying? You are to stay kneeling on that pile of rice until I tell you to get up. Do you goddamn hear me, you fuckin' little cunt? Back straight!" mother yelled at her from the top of her lungs.
Lyra tried to keep her back straight while her knees dug into the grain by her weight alone. Her knees were screaming in pain as she felt every single particle of rice pressing into her knees. Tears ran down her face, and mucus came bubbling out from her nose as she cried from the pain.
"Mommy! It hurts. I'm so sorry. I didn't -"
Whack! She tried to catch herself from falling forward but wasn't successful.
"Get the bloody fuck up, you mother fucker."
Lyra's mother pulled Lyra up from the back of her hair. Lyra grabbed the back of her hair as she tried to get away from her mother's grasp. She was in so much pain from her knees, back, bum, and now her head. Her heart raced against her chest from the discomfort then she was on the floor. Not understanding what was going on, she felt herself hit against something hard. She tried to curl her body in a ball, her whole body throbbing.
The next thing she knew, her arms and legs were being pulled away from each other. She heard a whooshing sound over her whimpers.
Whack! Whack! Whack!
"Get the bloody fuck off the floor, you cunt!"
Lyra tried to pull away from the constant whacks as she knew she was being spanked with her father's leather belt.
Not long after, she was so engulfed with pain throbbing throughout her body she didn't even notice her mother had stopped and was nowhere to be found.
Whisper kneeled by her as she inched forward to wipe the tears off her face. But Lyra winced from the small gesture. She felt her wrist be wrapped in Whisper's hand. A small pull from her navel, and she knew she was in her room. Tears ran down her face when she remembered her mother screaming at her. She wasn't any good in the family but damaged jewels.
She lay in bed until her father came home. He didn't come in, but she knew he would stand by the door.
-Flashback ends-
The year she began Hogwarts, she had totally forgotten about the necklace she always wore until one of her classmates asked her about it. She recalled how she was given the necklace as a child by a woman she had met. Graduating Hogwarts now, she had kept the promise she gave to the woman as a child, and she was planning to keep that promise, but now Lyra made the promise to herself. Now she just needed to find a way to go out to the muggle world and find the woman. Maybe she could get her Nana to help her out with this one. She knew her Nana was a brutal and stiff woman. Her Papa was a mean and strict old man, but her Nana was the one who you had to watch out for. She would be nice and sweet up front, but on the interior, she was very meticulous in finding all your weaknesses and such to bring you down.
Once the ceremony was finished, Lyra took her sweet ass time searching for her parents. She watched her peers laughing and smiling with their family members. Her heart ached as she wished her family was similar to the ones that were in the crowd. Laughter, joy, and pride of those who felt accomplished and finished Hogwarts. Lyra thought of how her family would be if things were different, with her family being more open and more loving.
A scene changed to where her mother was open with her emotions which would have tears falling down her face, along with pulling Scorpius and her into a hug and kissing her face to say congratulations with her father by her side smiling wide and his eyes gleaming with pride. Her grandparents would still have stoic facial expressions, but they showed off their emotions of pride.
Different scenarios of her and Scorpius would be coming home every break. May their mother bark orders at their house elves in the kitchen and in the Manor to be sure everything in the Manor was up and running and also make sure the house was still standing. Her father, who would be in his office during work from the family company, showed Scorpius what to do to take over the family business. They would do family functions together, may it be going to a picnic or having a family affair together.
When she finally arrived in their little circle, her mother was the first to notice, but her expression soured when their eyes locked as her father looked antsy. Lyra felt her insides turn into knots as she knew she would get a beating for having them wait for her. Her father, who hadn't seen her yet as his eyes were speaking to his former partner when he worked at the Ministry as an Auror.
With the radiation of anger from her mother, Lyra knew she had to act fast if she could speak to her grandfather about her going abroad. She wouldn't know how long, but she knew she had to do it quickly though. Gnawing her inner cheek, she tried to find a diversion of how to get her best friend Rose and maybe Albus or Lily to get her to the muggle world. Albus would help her around the muggle world to locate things and use things since he is familiar. Plus, he was a man who might be able to help them to get out of a situation if any arose.
Before Lyra was able to express her thoughts to her grandfather, Rose came over and pulled her into a hug. Happy for the distraction as she noticed her mother was now talking to Mrs Weasley and with Mrs Potter. She whispered to Rose she wanted to go on a trip to the muggle world; they chatted about each other plans. Not really having a set plan, but she knew if she could get away after tonight, her mother wouldn't touch her. She was a legal witch with claims to the wizarding world, but she still had obligations.
Rose separated from Lyra to go find Albus to let him know what was going on, and she knew he would be up for the adventure. Lyra was about to run off, but her grandmother had caught up to her. With a single glance, she knew she was done for as the look was the one she knew Lyra was up to. With a nod from her grandmother, she knew she was able to escape from the family as she gave a peck on the cheek for thanks. Lyra ran off to search for Rose, where she found her with Albus and Lily. Rose and Albus seemed like they had a mini argument.
Roll her eyes, she didn't understand why they were arguing. She grabbed Albus and Rose's arms and pushed them away from the crowd, a quick bye to Lily, who was still standing, confused about what just had happened. Lyra walked quickly where she pulled them both out to the Hogwarts grounds, where she apparated to the Manor.
Lyra turned to Albus and Rose. "Quickly go back to your place, pack a few things and essentials. I know this is sort of an explanation, but I need your assistance."
They both looked at her strangely. Rose, who gave her a nod, then punched Albus's shoulder and said they would both be back in 15. Rose was the first to leave. Albus stared at her, then at Rose, who was rushing off from the fireplace to the floor at her place. He ran off to her, where he was shouting at her they were going off on an adventure. While he met up with Rose, he dunked her head, gave her a noogie, and ran away to beat her to the fireplace. Lyra rolled her eyes at Albus as he always liked to harrassed and tease Rose.
O_O_O_O
Rose is her best friend; they may have been born a couple of months apart. Lyra's father always took her along with her brother to play dates to meet with Rose and Albus. Her father used to work with Rose's father as an Auror, and they were partners at Magical Law Enforcement. Rose's Uncle also came by the house with his kids hence why Scorpius was best friends with Albus. Together the three, along with their siblings, had play dates as much as they could.
Her mother hated the fact Lyra was always over at the Potters and Weasleys. She would rather Lyra be at her home learning how to be a lady. Since Lyra's parents argued about it over for a week, Lyra's mother got her way. There Lyra and Scorpius could only see her friends during the weekend as they were stuck at home to learn from a governess. Weekly updates Lyra's mother was given on how she was progressing in classes. When her mother turned at the end of the weekly lesson, she was learning manners and to be a pureblood woman.
Lyra and Scorpius grew up with the same thought; Scorpius was treated differently than she did. While Scorpius was treated like a prince in the family, whereas Lyra was the whipping girl from the discipline of Scorpius. No one knew of the abuse; not even her intermediate knew, as her mother kept the abuse secret.
The abuse alone made Lyra become more emotional and express less about her surroundings. The Malfoy is one of the Pureblood's families, also known as The Sacred 28. Though there were rumours, the Malfoys didn't believe in Pureblood supremacy as the others did. However, it was told Lord and Lady Malfoy Lucius and Narcissa were the ones who believed in the purity of heart, loyalty, mind, and brain instead of the blood. Draco and Tracy Malfoy believed in blood purity only, and they were above anyone who was not pureblood and did not associate themselves with purebloods. She also had no choice but to believe in the same way as her parents, though her brother didn't give a rat's ass.
They were sorted into Slytherin Lyra, called the Ice Slytherin Queen due to her emotional and expressionless paleness, and upbringing in an ancient pureblood family. She never denied anyone who asked her if she or her family believed in blood. Her response was usually a roll of her eyes and a sneer on her face. Another gave her the title was how mean and nasty Lily Potter no one knew why Lyra was mean to Lily. Lily was a Griffindor a year younger than her though they had known each other for a long time. They were like cats and dogs, always at each other's faces, bullying and picking on each other. Only in their first and second year was when the school year had just started, words were tossed, and then a physical fight came out between the two.
After a meeting with their parents and the Headmaster, it has agreed to stay away from each other. However, Lily goads Lyra and some bullying, though Lyra does return the favour. Everyone was curious about what would happen between the two as they always put on a good show. Though Lyra always had a sneer on her face when they went their separate ways.
Rose tried to get Lyra away from her cousin and to calm her down, though Lyra would rant about Lily. Annoyed and irritated by the fact her cousin and best friend would always fight with each other. They couldn't find common ground for the sake of her as they were connected. Tore Rose apart to be on who's side as she did have a feeling why Lyra would pick fights with Lily. Even though Lyra would never admit it, she saw a small glimpse here and there of it beneath the surface. Maybe in a way, the fights and arguments Lyra had with Lily showed the real Lyra underneath. She just needs to figure out how to bring her out.
O_O_O_O
Lyra glanced around the first and last time as she knew this may be the last time she would ever be at Hogwarts. Stepped up to the train, where she went on the search of Albus and Rose, where she would explain to them what her plans were. Rose only knew part of it as she only explained a few details of the trip.
A few people were running up and down the corridors as they were trying to say goodbye to all their peers. Only selected few Lyra nod to you as she respected and nice over the years though they never said a word about Lyra's behaviour. They seemed to understand Lyra had a persona to uphold.
Upon entering a carriage that held both of her best friends, Lyra sat on the chair beside Rose. As Albus and Scorpus sat across from them, Lyra narrowed her eyes at her brother. She didn't want Scorpius to be there but knew he was best friends with Albus. She needed to cooperate in case things didn't go in her favour. A few minor adjustments she needed for her plan, and maybe this would work for her.
"Scorpius, I wish for you to stay and keep mother and father away while I do some unfinished business in the muggle world," Lyra stated.
Scorpius stared at Lyra curiously. She felt he was going to inquire, but he just nodded. A quick pat on the back of Albus glanced back at Lyra.
"I have a feeling I know what you will be doing. I'll take my leave now. I'll cover you, but you owe me. Don't get in any trouble." with a nod to Albus. Scorpius got up and headed out.
Lyra waited a few minutes before staring back at Albus and Rose. She knew they were curious about what she had to say, especially when she told them after the ceremony.
"Like I said, I have some business in the muggle world. I would like both of you to come with me to the muggle world. Albus, you are familiar with the world, so I'm hoping with your knowledge of the area I'm hoping you would assist me. If you don't want to. That is fine. I have no issue if either of you wants to follow me or not. But I want to do this."
Lyra glanced at the window as she watched the scenery go by. She was not interested in looking at Albus and Rose's facial expressions. She never told anyone her plan or what she plans on what to do in the muggle world. Her hand went up to the necklace she was given years ago as a babe. She never spoke of what happened and chose to keep it to herself. The pendant, a dragon shape, with a foreign language she couldn't read. But it read "Hu guiya hao your dragon" with a picture of a woman and two babies on the inside.
Lyra noticed while growing up that despite the abuse she got from her mother and Uncle, she would be healed overnight, her mother and Uncle questioned. Grateful for the pendant as she wondered what type of magic or curses were on the pendant. She tried to research as much as possible, but Lyra didn't find a single thing in the Manor library and at Hogwarts library.
"Lyra, we don't mind going with you to the muggle world. Heck, I might even be able to ditch Posie there. That would be a huge ass bonus."
A smirk graced Lyra's lips and a roll of eyes as she watched Albus be punched in the stomach. Those two were like cat and dog. A glance at the window, she heard Albus squeal like a pig when she turned to face them. Albus was on the train floor with Rose sitting on his stomach. She was having her saliva drip on him. Shaking her head disgusted at what they were doing, she knew she would have fun on the trip.
Stared up at the sky and sent a small prayer to Merlin she could find the woman and thank her. She didn't know what she wanted to do if she were to meet the woman.
