That night, Vạn Thư got a nightmare that she could never forget. She returned into Hakoniwa but this time she searched for the Fountain of Miracle as a new war happened in Hakoniwa. By the time she arrived she already found it had been taken by someone else: the previous librarian, Keihatsu.

As Keihatsu become powerful beyond her old self she began to turn everywhere into a desolated ruin with her unmatched power as the power of the Fountain corrupted her. Not even Vạn Thư could survive her destructive power as the world looked at their new ruler in fear.

Vạn Thư: NOOO!

She woke up with a loud scream in horror in her room, even though the weather is cold outside she was sweating in fear. That morning Kosuzu was surprised to see a messy Vạn Thư who forgot to brush her own hair.

Kosuzu: What happened!?

Vạn Thư: It's nothing though.

Kosozu was a little worried about that kind of expression she got. Somehow she could sense the fear in her eye but because her friend just keep avoiding her question so she couldn't do much about it.

Yet that night she began to search for Reimu for advice as she believed she must return to Hakoniwa.

Reimu: So you are telling me you feared your nightmare become a reality?

Vạn Thư: My nightmare never wrong. It already became my instinct long ago.

Reimu: But you told me that librarian Keihatsu was dead before you replaced her as Sengi's advisor?

Vạn Thư: Sengi could be wrong about it though. After all he told me she got fatally injured by an arrow during an ambush then fell out of the cliff into the deep river. He believed such height was impossible for anyone to survive if they fell down into it.

Reimu began to think as they were sitting at the Hakurei Shrine at night.

Reimu: Show up yourself, Yukari. That's enough eavesdropping.

Yukari appeared out of the boundary with an interested expression

Yukari: I did watch the world of Hakoniwa for a while and there was a small uprising happened a few days ago.

Vạn Thư quickly stood up as she said

Vạn Thư: I knew it! That's why I need your help for stopping this!

Vạn Thư pinched Yukari's cheek again but Yukari smacked her head with her umbrella!

BONK

Yukari: If you keep doing that I won't be bothered to help you.

But Vạn Thư swallowed her pride and bow before Yukari as she begged her

Vạn Thư: I knew I had a bad relationship with you before. But, this time is emergent at best!

Eventually Yukari agreed and allowed her to return back to Hakoniwa

As she returned to Hakoniwa the first place she arrived was the heated battle where a group of former soldiers who were loyal to Sengi clashed with the Imperial Army. Vạn Thư and other looked at the fight on top of a hill. She also carried the Memory Orb with her for this trip.

Vạn Thư: Why didn't you interfere with the fight, Yukari? Your power alone could bring an end to this!

Yukari: I mostly influence the events because of my method. The only few exceptions that I would directly fight was when the Legendary and the Gods went into a disagreement with me but it was merely a way to end the fight without any casualties.

Vạn Thư looked at her with a suspicious look

Vạn Thư: So you are nasty enough to challenge the Legendary Crane? Still…

Vạn Thư casually walked toward the battlefield as she continued

Vạn Thư: I will do it in my way instead

As the rebels regrouped at the end of the valley they were trying to make a last stand against the Imperial Army. Suddenly they heard a familiar voice which caused a division of their own formation.

Vạn Thư: You had heard of me, those who once loyal to Sengi. I knew you won't accept a surrender as it was a shameful defeat. But, I will stop this fight at once if you are willing to work with me!

I am Vạn Thư, formerly a librarian who was once a close advisor of Sengi. I survived the flame of the Imperial Library and I had to stop this fight as I wished for peace in Hakoniwa. This rebellion had been a ploy of someone else and Hakoniwa will burn if you don't find out the culprit!

Vạn Thư appeared before everyone from both sides with her shouting voice and a confident look. Her time living in Gensokyo taught her how to become more confident among the villagers as she could speak in front of them in a confident manner.

Some of the soldier quickly leaves the rank and bowed before her, those are the veterans who were once serving Sengi and they also loved Vạn Thư for her benevolent treatment toward them. More and more soldier bowed to her solemnly as the commander of both sides couldn't stop them from this act.

Reimu: She was really famous huh?

Yukari: She already became a legend from both the Imperial Court and the populace as her action of burning the Imperial Library had been eternalized as a heroic act against the corruptive Sengi who betrayed his own benevolent past.

Both Yukari and Reimu had been hiding behind a bush as they witnessed the fight ended abruptly as Vạn Thư welcomed everyone with an open arm. Yet the commander of the rebel refused to surrender, eventually he demanded her into a one on one fight to decide who will be the winner.

Vạn Thư: I need to borrow your sword.

A random soldier handled the sword with utmost respect. Vạn Thư pointed her blade toward the commander with a smile.

Vạn Thư: I know you, Naoki. You were formerly the lazy officer from the logistic army who tried to steal my scrolls but failed. You are even lazier than other in term of practicing your skill, I'm quite surprised how you could lead this group of rebels alone.

Naoki who was the leader of the rebels looked at his backpack in fear. She knew the truth about him

Vạn Thư: Cat got your tongue huh? I bet those scrolls belonged to Keihatsu. While I don't know much about her I knew this place was once her home place and those scrolls you carried behind your backpack belonged to her.

Vạn Thư casually walked toward him with a dangerous aura, he stood back in fear

Vạn Thư: If you surrender now I will spare for you. I merely need to know where Keihatsu was. The Imperial Army will execute you for treason if you don't surrender.

But Naoki refused to surrender and throw himself into a fight against her! Both of them clashed but as Vạn Thư said earlier he was a lazy soldier which means his fighting skill was below her even though Vạn Thư wasn't an adept of swordplay.

As he lost the fight he eventually surrendered and his hand got tied by the Imperial Army. Suddenly Vạn Thư pulled out the Memory Orb in her backpack then grabbed his hand to touch the surface of it.

Naoki: Wait! What are you doing!? I though you kept your promise!

Vạn Thư: Relax. I merely need to track down the conspirator.

The whole place engulfed in light, Yukari was quickly enough to grab Reimu into her portal just a brief moment before it happened. And thanks to that they could experience the same memory recall effect from the orb without raising any attention from the soldiers.

In the memory of Naoki there was an event where Naoki made a secret deal with an unknown librarian who gave him the map to the collection of the scrolls as he wished to sell those scrolls for profit in return he gave her an ancient map toward the Fountain of Miracle.

Vạn Thư could confirm her theory was true, it was Keihatsu. Keihatsu never explained how she survived the assassination but she could sense something had changed her with the look on her face.

And then everything went back to normal as the memory projection ended. Vạn Thư was about to leave but some of the veteran soldiers wished her to stay with them as everyone on Hakoniwa already believed she was dead at the moment she burned the Imperial Library.

Vạn Thư: I'm sorry that I couldn't stay in here long enough. Still, please spread the words to everyone that I wished for peace on Hakoniwa!

The imperial soldiers cheered for her in happiness as she walked away toward Yukari and Reimu

Vạn Thư: My fear was real. We must stop her now!

Yukari began to open another portal that connected directly toward the exact location from the map earlier. As they arrived it was already too late, Keihatsu already entered the Fountain of Miracle!

Keihatsu: FOOLS! YOU ARE TOO LATE!

Keihatsu laughed in madness as the power of the Fountain corrupted her beyond control!

Vạn Thư: Do something! She must not get out of this cave!

Yukari: So she became a Yokai then. I could sense a familiar energy similar to a powerful Yokai.

Reimu: Just exactly what I wished for, a worthy target for Yokai extermination!

Reimu got excited for her newfound enemy just because she became a Yokai!

Yukari however began to think as something was wrong about this

Yukari: (Alternative Yukari told me the Fountain didn't exist in Hakoniwa yet Keihatsu could find its location and she survived the assassination…who was the real culprit here?)
