After a short period of time after the Keihatsu incident
Everything returned back to normal. The Human Village inside Kotou under the administration of Alternative Yukari progressed in a good shape so far thanks to the fact she controlled most of the decision making process in this place at one condition that she mustn't oppose Yukari.
Interestingly many of these librarians and their families shared the same origin: the Great Library of Hakoniwa. Back in the ancient past there were various librarians who sided with Alternative Yukari or the Legendary Crane during their disagreement about the usage of the scrolls.
As Alternative Yukari lost the fight the rest of the librarians who sided with her had been exiled away and scattered across Hakoniwa. Their name in the historical records also got deleted by the Crane just like Yukari herself but they continued their librarian technique for generations.
Keihatsu's family was no exception, one of the reasons why she chooses to remain in Kotou because Alternative Yukari promised her to build a shrine for her lineage as a way to respect her ancestor for helping her in the ancient past.
She also returned all of the scrolls back to Keihatsu which had been confiscated by the Imperial Army earlier thanks to Yukari's timely intervention.
And the current librarians along with their families were the long descendant of those who lose the fight. And thanks to Yukari help they finally got a chance to become a dominant force in Kotou while the Legendary Crane and the Gods had to become hermit in a forceful manner.
The situation around here completed changed ever since Yukari arrived while Alternative Yukari gained a strong support from those families as they treated her as the founder of the Great Library of Kotou.
Meanwhile in Hakugyokurou
Vạn Thư had been spending time to learn from Youmu's sword skill as she got a trophy from the previous event where that random soldier gave her his sword as an honor to support her against Naoki's rebels. Yuyuko meanwhile watched the training while eating non-stop.
Youmu: Why did you train so much even though you used to be a librarian? Didn't you tell everyone that you retired?
Vạn Thư: I was, but now I can't be sure anymore. For some reason every time I wanted to end my job there are always some events that pulled me into the opposite direction.
Youmu: So you trained sword skill because you wanted to return to your job?
Vạn Thư: No. It's just for self-defense purpose. Yet something told me there will be more incidents to come and it is better to keep myself prepared for any trouble in the future.
Yuyuko: So you can't cast any spell at all?
Vạn Thư: Yes. And I never had any intention to do so unless it was an extremely dire situation.
But then she pulled out the Memory Orb from her backpack as she knew Yuyuko really wanted to see her in action.
Vạn Thư: If you are dying to see me casting my spell then you can watch it in this orb.
Vạn Thư then touched the surface of the orb with her hand. The entire place engulfed in a bright light as the memory of her began to simulate.
Yuyuko began to see a heated battle where thunderstorm happened and various soldiers had to run away in fear as the thunders attacked anyone within its range. Vạn Thư had been sitting on top of a hill nearby casting her scroll while Sengi's army stayed behind and witnessed her power.
Vạn Thư: Scroll of Thunder. It was totally useless against any assassin but highly deadly against a big army like Raika's army who couldn't navigate themselves during this chaos.
And then the scene changed as Vạn Thư sat down and chant her spell in a very concentrated manner. A massive tsunami appeared far away from her view as every ship beneath it had been washed away by the torrential wave.
Vạn Thư: Scroll of Tsunami. A section of Maruyama's navy had been wiped away by this scroll.
But then the scene ended instantly. Yuyuko showed her bored face as she yawned.
Yuyuko: That's it? Only two scrolls?
Vạn Thư: That's just how it was. Even if I could possess thousands of scrolls I could only use about 10 of them for the entire war. Half of it already cost a large amount of my magical power and I saw no reason to use all of them since I never had enough magical power for it.
This was why I only become important when a big battle happened. That's where I become a nightmare. Any big army who got caught within my range will be destroyed.
Youmu: So that's why you practiced swordplay for the sake of self-defense against anything that is faster than you?
Vạn Thư: Exactly, they eventually learned the hard lesson and began to assassinate me but it failed and their army got destroyed as Sengi was extremely good at forcing them to fight head on against him. And if a head on battle happened then I will defeat them easily.
Vạn Thư then stood up and raised her sword again as she continued her training
Vạn Thư: With that said, it doesn't matter anymore. Any of the future battle in Hakoniwa would have to be decided by other instead of librarians like me. The moment I regained my magical power there would be an urge to use it in another war again. Such thing is undesirable for me, it's better to be powerless than being dragged into a bigger mess.
This was why I used to think of returning to the Fountain of Miracle but only if it was a very emergency situation. Still, I already burned that scroll since I decided it wasn't worth it. With the help of Reimu and other in Gensokyo I believed I won't have to drag myself into the problems of other.
Mamizou meanwhile had been spying on top of a nearby tree as she overheard the whole conversation
Mamizou: Interesting~
