A quick reminder if you haven't read the first chapter. All stories will be told in first person, from both Takeru's and Hikari's POVs in the same story. It will be separated to make it easier, though.

I hope you enjoy! Check back tomorrow for the final story.

Day 6: Baby Bottles, Pacifiers and Everything in Between
The cool wind breeze messed my hair as I leaned against the balcony, but I didn't mind at all. Grateful was all that I was feeling at that moment. I had my own apartment, the most amazing wife ever and a great job. I would say my life was perfect, but I'd be lying. It would be in a few months, though.
"There you are." Hikari's voice echoed around me and I couldn't help but smile at the sound of it as I lowered my head a little. Then I turned around and found her standing by the door that separates our living room from our balcony. "What are you doing here?"
"I was waiting for you, actually." I approached her and kissed her in the cheek, while resting my hand on her belly.
"Well, I'm ready to go now."
"Great." I reached for her hand and then we walked out of our apartment, with Patamon in his usual spot over my head and Tailmon right beside Hikari.

Hikari and I have been married for about two years now. We were engaged for only one year, since we didn't want to spend a long time like that. After the wedding ceremony, she decided she would grow her hair and it was already a little below her shoulders. I think she looks stunning, though I love her short hair too. She said it was the beginning of a new phase of her life and I couldn't agree more with her.

About two months ago, she told me she had something to say to me. Looking back now, I find it hard to believe she managed to stay so serious at that moment, especially because it was a moment of happiness. At first, I was alarmed because that was a side of Hikari that hardly ever comes to the surface, but then she gave me the brightest smile and I knew it was just a façade. She sat down beside me on the bed and handed me a pregnancy test. Our initial reaction was to be shocked and a little nervous and worried. Not because we didn't want to have children at some point, but it wasn't something that we were planning to so soon. But the happiness and excitement quickly replaced it and we assured each other we could do it together. And here we are now.

"You seem quiet today." Her voice brought me back from my trance. "Are you sure everything is fine?"
"Yes, I'm sure." I reassured her with a grin. "I was just thinking about the day you told me you were pregnant."
"Oh." She looked down to her stomach, which was starting to show. "I felt so many things that day. Now I just feel… whole, complete. I don't know if it makes sense or if you feel the same, but…"
"I do." I interrupted her, still smiling. "It makes total sense to me."
"I'm sure you two will be great parents." Patamon spoke above me and I looked up at him.
"I hope so." Hikari's tone was a little worried, so I squeezed her hand a little, in a comforting way.
"I know it's scary because we don't know how to take care of a child, but we can do this."
"You know what?" She smiled at me. "You're right. We will learn how to be parents together. I wouldn't want to go through this with anyone else."
"Me either." I put my arm around her shoulders as we walked out of the elevator.

.

Four months and I still haven't processed the fact I was pregnant. I mean, I was aware that I had a human being growing inside of me, but it just felt… surreal. And I also couldn't stop rubbing my belly softly.
"Do you think it's a boy or a girl?" Takeru asked me suddenly and I looked at him.
"I'm not sure." I lowered my gaze back to my belly again and began to stroke it gently one more time. "I will be happy with any of them. What about you? Do you have any preference?"
"I don't think so." He shook his head. "Though deep down I'd prefer a girl because I never had a sister, so I don't really have any idea what it's like to look after a female figure that's blood related to you. I don't know if that makes sense."
"I think I can understand it, yes. You feel the need to watch out for your mother as you grow up, but it's a different feeling."
"Exactly."
"Well, let's hope your wish comes true then." I said with a smile. "Now that we're here shopping for our baby's first items it's finally hitting me. We're going to be parents."
"It's a little scary, isn't it?"
"It is. I know we talked and are supporting each other through this, but I can't help but be in panic when we face the real thing."
"I feel the same. But we'll pull this off, I'm sure of this. We'll learn something new as we go along with it."
"You're right." I looked around, looking for a baby store. "So where should we start? I mean, what things should we buy first?"
"Hmmm newborn clothes, baby bottles, pacifiers, a stroller… I don't really know. Everything, I guess."
"We'll be also getting a lot of stuff." I commented. "So let's split up and see what we can find. How is that for you?"
"Sounds great to me."

Why are babies' clothes so cute? Seriously, I'm having the hardest time picking up just a few because they are all so beautiful. I'm really tempted to buy the cutest dress ever and feeling bad about it because I don't know the gender yet. So I go for neutral colors like yellow and green that are fit for either boys or girls. And white, obviously. But then I saw the prettiest clothing ever and I just had to buy it. It was a light blue baby suit with bear ears in its hood. It wasn't exactly for newborns, but I didn't care at all. I'd use it eventually, no matter it was a boy or a girl.

I looked down at the basket I was holding and noticed it was already full of stuff and half of them was clothes. I think I got too carried away with it, but I don't feel guilty about it at all. In fact, I thought of getting another one just in case.
"Hikari, what do you think about this?" Tailmon approached me holding what seemed to be a singing cat, but the design was so ugly I couldn't even look at it.
"I don't think it's fitting for newborn babies, Tailmon." I tried to find the right words, so she wouldn't feel upset or anything. "Maybe when he or she is a little older, we can think about it."
"Okay. I'll put it back then."
"I think I'm done here, so we'll go together. We have to find Takeru too."
"He's at the toy section."
I simply nodded and we start heading where he was.

.

I was absolutely blown away with the amount of things available to buy in that store. How are we even supposed to choose? I shook my head and decided to be practical that time. I would have the opportunity of going crazy over clothes in another occasion and I knew Hikari would be doing that right now.
"How can you know what to buy? There are so many things around here!" Patamon looked around, feeling confused and surprised.
"That's true. That's why I'm not gonna pay attention to all of them and just pick up when we actually need. These things can be really inviting and make us waste more money than we intend to."
"So what do you want to buy?"
"Baby bottles, pacifiers… things like that." I looked up at him. "Do you think you can help me?"
"I think so." He glanced around again and flew off to another section.

I decided to take a look at the trolleys since it was going to be one of the first things we'd need.
"Hey, I'm done shopping here." Hikari stopped beside me and I looked at the full basket in her hands. "Don't judge me, I couldn't decided on what to buy because they have such cute and beautiful clothes. But look at this." She pulled the blue suit out and showed me. "Isn't it the prettiest thing ever?"
"It really is." I smiled at her and stood up. "What do you think of this trolley?"
"It's nice, but I think we can buy it next time. We are going to spend a lot already."
"Yes, you're right." I looked at the baskets we were carrying. "We'll have plenty of time for it."
"Exactly. I think we can go now. Where's Patamon?"
"Oh he was helping me picking up some items, but I think he either got lost or distracted by something."
"Did you ask him to go to the toy section? Because it's already distracting enough for us, let alone to a digimon who knows nothing about some things."
"I didn't, but that's probably where he ended up going." I couldn't help but laugh. "Let's find him."

"Takeru, look at this." Patamon said excitedly as he played piled a few blocks together.
I swallowed hard and knelt down across him, not believing they still made the same blocks I used to play with when I was only a toddler.
"Wow."
"It's cool, isn't it?"
"It is." I nodded. "Now put them away in the bag. We're taking them."
"What?" Hikari asked behind me. "But Takeru, our baby won't be able to play with them for a long time."
"I know." I looked up at her over my shoulder. "But I have an affective memory with them. Yamato and I used to play with them when we were younger."
"Say no more. Let's take them."
"Are you sure about this?"
"Of course." She had a warm smile on her face. "These blocks bonded you and Yamato and they can also bond you with our future child."
"Thank you." I grabbed the bag and we headed to the cashier.

.

"Something is smelling really good here." I stated as I walked into the kitchen. "What are you making?"
"Lamen." Takeru looked at me. "It's rather simple, but I think everyone enjoys, so…"
"I think it's perfect." I smiled at him. "Your brother will surely appreciate it."
"For sure. I'm surprised you managed to put up this small celebration so fast. Or maybe none of them had plans for the weekend."
"Oh no, they did." My smile grew bigger. "They all canceled them when I said I had important news to share."
"That's very sneaky of you." He smiled back at me and wrapped his arms around me.
"I think I'm allowed to be at least once." I looked up at him and we kissed briefly.

About half an hour later, our residence was full of people and Digimon. Most of them were at the balcony, since it was a warm summer night. I was still surprised about reuniting all of them in such a short time.
"So, sister, now that we've eaten and all, what is it that you two had to tell us?"
"Don't you want to have dessert first?" I asked, hoping to have some more time to get ready to reveal my pregnancy.
"Oh no, we'll have time for that after we find out."
"I agree." Yamato joined the conversation. "I'm curious to know as well."
"Alright then." I looked at Takeru apprehensively and he came to me, holding my hand. He subtly nodded at me and then we both turned to the crowd in our apartment.
"Hikari and I would like to announce we're expecting our first child."
The entire room was filled with open mouths, expressions of surprise, smiles and even some crying coming from our mothers. It was impossible to say which one cried the most, but I think my mom wins by a very small difference. After recovering from their shock, my brother and Yamato high-fived each other, excited with the idea of being uncles for the first time.
"This is so wonderful, honey." My father walked to me and gave me a hug, shaking hands with Takeru right after. "I'm so happy for you two. I have no doubt you'll be amazing parents."
"Thanks, dad." I said genuinely with a smile. "It's a little scary though."
"It always is, Hikari. But I'm sure you will pull this off. Being a parent is a process of teaching and learning at the same time."
"I've heard people saying it a lot."
"Oh Hikari! My little baby is becoming a mother!" My mother threw her arms around me and I almost fell down, hadn't Takeru helped me. "I can already see you nursing a little girl. It's a girl, isn't it?"
"We still don't know, mom. I'm still on my third or fourth month. We're going to find out soon though."
"I'm so happy I'm going to be a grandmother!" She squealed and turned to Taichi. "When are you going to give me a grandchild too?"
"Don't look at me!" He quickly said, his cheeks burning bright red. "Hikari just announced she is. I think you can wait a little longer for another one."
"Fine." She seemed convinced, to his relief. "But I won't forget about it."
"Anyway…" Sora wisely tried to change the subject and stood up, walking in our direction and pulling us into a small group hug. "I'm really happy for the two of you! My two little siblings-in-law starting a family on their own. This kid will be a lucky one, I'm sure."
"Thank you so much, Sora." I heard Takeru's voice echoing beside me in a warm tone.

.

I walked into my bedroom as I dried my hair with a towel, hoping to find Hikari sitting on the bed, but she wasn't there. Everyone else had already left by then. I hung the towel around my neck and head to the other room in our apartment. I leaned against the doorframe as I watched my wife sitting on the floor and everything we had bought earlier that day scattered all around her. I couldn't help but think she looked like a child that had many toys to play with.
"Having fun?" I walked in and gave her a smile when she broke away from her trance and looked at me.
"I know we agreed to look at what we bought together, but I couldn't control myself. I'm sorry."
"Don't worry about it." I assured her as I sat down beside her. "It's not like we were keeping a secret or they were presents anyway. We already knew what we were going to buy."
"That's a really good point."
"So, why are you here on the floor? It's much more comfortable to do it on our bed."
"It may sound strange, but somehow I felt like our baby would be part of it if I went through everything here. It probably doesn't make any sense to you, but…"
"It does." I cut her off and grabbed her right hand. "You wanted to include them on it, and I think it's cute."
"Really?" Her face lit up in happiness and I couldn't help but smile at that.
"Of course."
"Take a look at these." She bent over and picked up some clothes she had bought. "I got a little carried away, but I just couldn't resist."
"They are very pretty. You didn't get carried away. We're gonna need to buy clothes at some point."
"True, but I think I could have waited more." She sighed. "Anyway, seeing all of these things makes everything seem more real, don't you think?"
"I do." I looked around the room carefully.
"What do you think about a themed room?"
"A themed room?" I looked at her with a confused expression.
"Yup. It's a trend lately. I've seen this room on TV with animals and found it very sweet. We can paint it light yellow and add some animal paintings in the middle of the wall."
"I think it's great!" I stood up and spun around, picturing how everything would be like. I could definitely see it happening. Then I walked towards the wall behind her and she spun in her position to look at me. "We can put the crib here and the chest of drawers on the opposite wall behind you. What do you think?"
"I think it's perfect. Having the crib over there is great because there isn't much wind. I love it how you imagine these things in your head."
"That's how a writer's mind works." I bragged a little. "Do you think our baby would agree with it?"
"Definitely. Though they will have no clue about it at all. At least not in their first years." She giggled and then stood up. "Seeing you embrace the role of a father is the greatest thing ever."
"You really think so?"
"Absolutely." She wrapped her arms around me and I did the same with her. "I have no doubt our baby will have the best father on Earth."
"And mother too." I tightened my arm around her, pulling her closer to my body.
