I walked into the apartment and looked around to see it looked normal. I then felt something rub up against my leg.
"That's just sushi, she's a sweetheart," Midnight said, bending down and coming back up with a small black cat in her arms. "I'll show you to your room cell," she said, walking down a hallway.
I followed her to a room that was as big as the rooms in the orphanage were but with only one bed instead of five. There was also a desktop with two monitors, a closet, a dresser, and a large mirror.
"W-woah."
"It's not the biggest, but it's all yours. Oh, and if you want anything like a computer game and it costs money just let me know. The bathroom is just across the hall and don't worry about walking in on me as I have my own in my bedroom," she explained. "Also, do you want to still go to Aldera hell or would you like to transfer?"
"W-whichever one w-would b-be easier f-for you," I stuttered.
"Alright, well why don't we keep you in Aldera for now and if needed we can transfer you later," she said. "Now let's get some food in you," she added as my stomach growled.
We went to the kitchen and she made me a sandwich. The next week I went to school and nothing had changed there. Kacchan would beat me up, the teachers would call me a quirkless failure, the staff would make my life miserable just like it should be. However, after class on Friday Kacchan stopped me from leaving.
"Hey, Deku. I heard something that can give you a quirk. Take a swan dive off the roof of a building and pray for one in the next life," he said, chuckling as he walked out.
I stood there for a moment before I started walking. I walked out and was going under an overpass when I was attacked by a villain. Then everything started moving faster than I could comprehend. I was saved by All Might, followed him to a roof, and when we landed I saw him go into a weak form and I asked him my question.
"Can I be a hero without an activated quirk?"
"Kid, heroes need to be able to calm people down and be bigger than life. I don't think you can be a hero without a quirk. I would recommend finding a dream that is realistic and attainable. Now I need to go," he said, walking down the stairs to the street level.
I stood up there for a couple of minutes before slowly making my way down. I just roamed aimlessly before I came to a fight. I looked up and felt something in me shift. It was Midnight fighting a group of thugs who had gas masks. She was fighting one of them and another was out already. I then watched the third guy pull a metallic arm back and aimed it at her back and I moved before I could think.
"WATCH OUT!" I yelled, as I pushed her away as I felt a stabbing pain in my chest. I looked down to see a sharp blade sticking a foot out of my chest. I then felt my mind go blank as my vision went black.
"Well, I wasn't planning on seeing you here again for a while, kid," a female voice said.
I opened my eyes to see a beautiful woman with silvery white hair and crimson eyes wearing a red suit.
"W-who are you? Where am I?" I asked, looking around to see what looked like a throne room made of dark obsidian and deep reds.
"Oh right, I had to remove your memories of that. I'm Lucifer, and this is my throne room in Hell. I saved you after your mother begged me last time you were here," she said.
"H-how?"
"Easy, I simply brought you back to life. This time it won't be as simple, the issue is you aren't truly dead. I guess I can give you some of my powers to kickstart your quirk a little bit," she said, looking at me.
"Why? Not like there's anyone that cares for me," I muttered.
"Kid, Midnight is literally sitting in the hospital praying to everyone, me included, that you survive. She cares about you a lot more than you realize. Also, All Might was wrong and I kinda regret saving his life," she added.
"What was that?" I asked.
"Nothing, now, do you want me to save you? I believe you can be a hero, but I'm not sure how my power will mess with your quirk or you but I need to ask. I'm honestly not as bad as everyone makes me out to be," she said.
"I-yes," I decided.
"Alright, here's a bit of my power," she said, walking up and kissing my cheek. "Now wake up," she said, pulling away.
Beep, Beep, Beep
I opened my eyes and sat up.
"IZUKU!" Midnight yelled as she hugged me before my eyes could adjust to the room. "Why did you do that?"
"I-I thought m-me d-dying w-was better than y-you. P-people n-need you, I-I'm j-just a u-useless w-waste of s-space. W-who w-would c-care if I-I d-died?" I stuttered.
"I would! I'm supposed to keep you safe."
"I-I'm s-sorry M-Mid-"
"Nemuri, for now you will call me Nemuri. Now, I need to ask about those b-burns and marks that weren't on you when Recovery Girl looked at you last," she asked, tears brimming her eyes.
I then started talking, and kept talking, and laid everything that happened at school, what Bakugou did, and how All Might acted when we met.
"Let me get this right, he tried to leave you and didn't bother waiting until medical professionals were there and he might not have even called them?" Mi-Nemuri seethed.
"U-um, y-yes?" I guessed.
"Izuku, we are going to sue All Might because one of the things all heroes are taught is that you don't leave a victim or anyone involved in a villain fight or anything like that until medical professionals have looked at them. Technically he could be found at fault for you almost dying to that villain since he didn't do his job," she said. "We will also be suing the school for a lot more."
I then started muttering as the thought of making All Might pay for what might have been an actual mistake and how if he were to lose his job it would be my fault and it would then make everything mess up and…
"Izuku!" Nemuri yelled, grabbing my shoulders.
"W-what?" I asked.
"The lights were flickering and somethings in the room were shaking and it felt like a ghost story," she explained.
"C-could it b-be that I unlocked my quirk?" I asked.
"I'll be checking that young man," Recovery Girl said, walking in.
She took some of my blood, but not a lot since I was already a little low on it.
"So, there are going to be some changes in the future. First off, you will be changing schools. Secondly, you will be going to therapy after school. And lastly, I wanted to ask if you would be alright with me adopting you," she said, getting a little quiet. "I honestly never saw myself as a mother, but just seeing you jump in front of that attack made me realize that I could lose you and that wasn't a thought I ever had in my mind, so, what do you say?"
My mind was racing. This time however I could see the lights in the room flickering, the table shaking a bit, and I shook my head to clear my mind and looked at Mi-Nemuri and saw something I hadn't seen since I lost my mother, love.
"Y-yes," I said, feeling my eyes water up a bit. She then pulled me into a softer hug.
"Awe, now that's adorable," a voice swooned.
"W-what?" I asked, looking over to see Lucifer.
"Wait, you can see me?"
"Um, what's going on?"
AN-
I have no regrets. This was dark, this was slightly funny, and this was difficult to write. I know this seems like it's coming out fast, but that's because it isn't the greatest chapter and I didn't want to linger on it for mental reasons. I would also like to say that there will be one more darker moment but everything will get better after that I promise. Make sure to follow, favorite, comment, and kudos! Link Out!
